- I recorded the sound of the DELL AC Adapter that make a very high pitched noise (3000 Hz) each time it is plugged to the computer.
The sound is audible in a quiet place, but for this video I have to approach the adapter to the computer microphone (located at the webcam), record this hisss sound with Audacity and play it again.
The computer is a DELL LATITUDE 5401.
The AC adapter is maybe 3 years old. Reference, as indicated on the sticker : HA130PM160 ; DP/N 0P7KJ5. - Наука та технологія
Great video. Keep going on YT
Sounds like a coil “whine” which is typical with older DC power supplies. This is usually an indicator that it’s either faulty or at end of life.
Yes maybe, but the adapter is not so old (maybe 3 years), and I have an other adapter from Dell aged 10y (but 65W) without this problem. I thought Dell adapter were made of good quality, but maybe not this model. For sure I ll have to replace it soon.
I have same problem with same with same model adapter, is it safe to continue using?
Probably yes. Mine is running 4h a day since 3 months with this noise (I hide it in the drawyer so noise is not so loud), and it still working.
Thanks for the reply @@jaymore9179 i got a lot of anxiety plugging it in and hearing that. I pulled it out immediately as it is powering my dell d6000 dock which all my drives and monitors are connected to, I thought it was shorting. I will attempt to use it until I source a new charger.
