Agreed. Some of the people who post tornadoes are stupid as fuck too. Someone posted a video of an EF4 and the video was the poster and his stupid family frantically screaming and running around inside the fucking house until the last minute when all the lights went out and the windows blew. Sometimes they deserve to get what they get just for being that stupid and posting a video of being in harms way just for clicks and views. There's no excuse as to why they shouldn't have gone into a shelter when they knew the tornado was that close. And they knew cuz people were frantically screaming all over the place and the wind was already strong and beating on their house all video til that point.

You should have seen the one that hit Cordova Alabama during the 2011 outbreak in Bama. One guy filmed the tornado from Dora Alabama approximately 6 miles from Cordova. It looked absolutely terrifying. A monster tornado. It was classified as an EF4, but the shear size of it, it liked like an EF11. And yes, I’m aware the rating only goes up to EF5 and the rating goes by wind speed not by size. One guy filmed it from Jasper Alabama a little further away, about 9 miles. It still looked monstrous. Sadly, that tornado killed several people as it was a long track tornado staying on the ground for several miles. 4 fatalities in the small town of Cordova alone. And to make the story more horrifying for our community, it was the second time Cordova was hit by a tornado that day. A small one in the early morning. Then the killer in the afternoon!

To know literally every home, farm and town in the path of that puts a completely different view on spotting. And then to hear other chasers were saying things like “At least a lot of people don’t live here” changed my mindset on even spotting. Somehow it missed all of our little towns.. Hedrick, Farson, Ollie, Martinsburg, Keota and Wellman were all spared a direct hit somehow and most importantly, no lives were lost. Thank you for a respectful video!

Having lived through the July 19, 2018 F-3 tornado in Marshalltown, Iowa (and the 8-10-20 derecho), I find your footage with the train beginning at 6:45 (ish) particularly impactful. The contrast of controlled, measured movement against the backdrop of the storm is, well, moving. ;)

I just could not comprehend being that close to something that massive 😲😲 The noise would be deafening. I am watching this from Australia and am glad to say that we dont get tornadoes here. Please take care out there, and thanks for the amazing video 👍👍

I agree with the other praising perspectives below. I particularly like how you were able in most scenes to have at least 80% to 95% of your frame devoted to the SKY! So many others have to put the horizon almost halfway to the top of the frame, WASTING valuable sky dynamics! Your calm demeanor adds significantly to your accomplishments. Thank you for your contribution! I hope that you can get a "copilot" in the future to help navigate, keep an eye on the road, etc. for safety sake. A BIG like!

Excellent work, great analysis. Classic “bear trap” wall cloud(s), at times you can see the entire storm structure rotating. You’re right, Iowa is amazing for chasing!

Crazy cam shots Spencer!! The structure on both those tornados was amazing to say the least. It almost reminds me of the El Reno Beast of May, 31st, 2013! Go back and look at Pecos Hanks El Reno's Footage and you'll see what I mean 😯!
Thank you for your hard work and long hours!! I'm not a storm chaser but I definitely respect what you guys are doing out there. Stay safe through this next season bro💕!!

Such great footage, Spencer. I couldn't believe how much dark/light contrast was going on there within the clouds. It was freaking gorgeous. And, for at least the first half of the video that core looked pitch black. I'm with CrashCourse 100%, this is likely my favorite footage visually. And, I have dug up a boatload of footage in the past few years. Just subscribed. 👍

I also feel this is a good way to warn people of the danger of these storms, because the video is not over hyped with commentary. I survived two Tornadoes in my life, one in our basement in '65, where we had minor structural damage to our Cape Cod style home in Illinois, and one that developed from clear skies to an F1 Tornado in thirty minutes, while my Dad and I were golfing, with only the sound of a thunderous freight train around us, we separated from each other, and both barely missed being crushed by a 70 foot tall pine tree the Tornado simply snapped at the base.
It was at most, thirty seconds, with no warning, and I have never seen a storm develop that fast before--the only warning sign is we had a thunderstorm the night before, which was very unusual.
I remember being surrounded by an almost sepia colored mix of sand, that the tornado sucked up from a nearby creek bed and sand traps on the course, and for only a span of seconds, in shock, the funnel passed over me according to my Dad and then took out the tree about a hundred feet away.
The clubhouse owners gave us two beers, we were the only ones who stayed on the golf course.
The storm settled to a gentle mist, and we played the last nine holes, having the once crowded course all to ourselves, though we could not putt on most of the greens which were covered by broken branches and leaves and shingles from the nearby service buildings.
No one was hurt, but our pride of predicting the weather before blowing money on green fees was wounded--that storm was in '1980.
My Dad said he saw me as someone who could calm the waters that day, because when the storm came, he saw me shrug my shoulders and disappear into the dust stirred up by the funnel, expecting me to be Elijah carried up to heaven.
I decided at that time, that God does exist, and God's angel's watch over us, if we allow them to.
