Another fabulous review. I'd say that The Master is not only my favourite Master or character in the series overall, but also my favourite character of all fiction. Yeah, Delgado will most definitely pop up more, and I enjoy every single second he's on screen. Not even kidding, *every single* second with Delgado.
DOCTOR WHO - Terror Of The Autons (1971) My favorite serial of all time by my favorite Doctor Jon Pertwee. The Master was brilliantly portrayed by Roger Delgado. ❤️
Jo: Perhaps he (The Master) has given up Doctor: Him? No! He’s too conceited The *look* on Jo’s face is *priceless*! I love it so much. It’s that ‘dude, are you *serious*? Look in the mirror!’ expression
This is a fun story for sure! Yes, it’s objectively not as good as Spearhead, but majority are in agreement that the different stakes of the Autons threat, Jo Grant, and the Master make up for any deficiency. That said, the CSO is...big no. Liz Shaw is sadly out of the picture, Caroline John was going to leave anyway, a combination of dissatisfaction with the role and her unannounced pregnancy during S7’s production would’ve made her leave but she was just let go. In these days the companion was there to ask questions to get the Doctor to explain the science and history of the serials, and the character was too smart, it just didn’t make sense to keep a character so smart yet at odds with the whole premise of what she was meant to do, so out she went.
Great introduction to The Master. The Blue Screen does look VERY dated now though. Understandable in some instances but I’ve found this era uses it way too much when it wasn’t even really needed.
I love Terror of the alutons this is one of my favourite thrid doctor story what a great introduction to the master and joe Grant and the writer Robert Holmes is an amazing writer from doctor who classic
This is one of my favourite Who stories, and one of my favourite Who eras too. I love Delgado's Master, I like the autons, and I even like the dated blue screen, which this Who era seemed a bit fond of. It doesn't come across too bad in this story 😅
Great Review! New Subscriber here! I loved the introduction of the new Companion and The Master! I’m kinda glad Liz ain’t around. I didn’t warmed up to her even though I enjoyed her in the last story. I’ll give it a 7/10. it was quiet dragging but the rivalry and fighting between Master/Doc was amazing and i loved it.
Jo was quiet tough to get used to for me. But I didn’t really enjoyed her that much in this story and have to say that I even enjoyed Dodo more than Jo. But maybe this will change when I see more

He really is brilliant, a real contender for my favorite incarnation of the character.

Nice one!! :D I can't believe the Jo and the Master not only came into the show in the same series but also the same story!!! :O
Thank you! :) And I agree, they're both quite well known characters from the 70s

It's a story that doesn't get enough love if you ask me, I just think it's a lot of fun! :)

She definitely grew on me with time, perhaps you'll find more to like in her throughout later seasons :)
