I feel lucky to have found this review after almost 50 years. I saw this episode of Dr Who about 1979, in Chicago. Loved Tom Baker but this was pre-internet so little information about this TV show was available. The Villain represented a vast galactic "company " that enslaved by commercial means instead of ineffective military aggression. (This reminded me of Japan's wartime failure but postwar mega success). The funniest moment was when the Villain was about to kill someone and he said "this is the moment that I get a tremendous sense of job satisfaction." I still think its funny 43 years later. 😂
@@MrSamMaloney Kerblam is the ‘Amazon’ parody right, it was fine, but yea, The Sun Makers is more subtle to points to where commercialism was going (and has gone?). 😎

There is something very fitting about seeing Tom Baker in a straight jacket. 😂 It’s pure gold.
One of my favorites of the Fourth Doctor era.
mine 2.

I like The Sun Makers
The over-the-topness of the villains represents politicians and corportation CEOs so well. I don't see why people should have a problem with it.
No politicians.
Just unregulated Capitalism.
It's the Future that Corporations are all working towards.
Great to see a new upload man :)
Thanks! Another one is just around the corner :)
Just watched The Sun Makers, it's pretty good, another reviewer mentioned this story in relation to Boom, and indeed, i see similar themes.
I think the Sun Makers does a better job criticizing the excesses of capitalism than Kerblam did. Sun Makers is like Kerblam done well.

Quite a few elements from this story are used later in “Blake’s Seven”.
Praise the Company!
To be onster with you I really hate the sun makers
