I remember when the Versys first came out, a U.S. spokesperson cited statistics showing that most adventure bikes rarely travelled off-road, in fact he compared it to Land Rover's statistics. He then went on to state that adults wanted adventure bikes for the comfort gained from more legroom, so they designed an adventure bike for the highway.
Oh yeah! This is what I was waiting for. I remember the Kawasaki 650 all bikes video. It was awesome. Hopefully this video kicks it as well. Commenting before watching. High Hopes. Anticipating Awesomeness.
i own exactly the same v strom..... and before buying it tried the two bikes at the dealer , the kawa and the strom...... believe me i bought the suzuki..... and i m in love with this v strom now.... for real .. this is a amazing bike
*This video was on point!* The suzuki definitely caters to off-road enthusiasts better. But, going by the fact that most of the riding done during touring is on the tarmac (atleast 60-70%), the Kawasaki makes more sense. And if it were to be completely on tarmac, the Ninja 650 or Z650 makes for a stronger case, especially with throughly redesigned chassis set up.
the traction control is a huge bonus for vstrom in any case. and the z650 and ninja650 are unrideable on Indian roads. rather than enjoying the ride, you have to worry about the bottom scrapping of with just 130mm ground clearance.
@@aditya9600 Agreed on the traction control part. But that's not something which will hold you back unless it's wet. Also the Dunlop's are pretty good and it does help. And I don't find it's need for a mere 70 horses xD And about the ground clearance. Straight pipe it out xD + 35 - 50 mm clearance + Loud pipe saves life sticker. Tbh, it's not too bad. Z650 is a pocket rocket...times when you are powering through the gears and even in third gear ur wheel wont touch the ground makes u smile and love ur bike...we have couple of z650s in our group and it is always astonishing of how such torquey engine can pack in a small package...driving at 60 kmph in 6th gear will giv u an average of around 29- 30 kmpl that too on my versys 650...kawasaki's are reliable and u wont find many people selling there versys coz they love them...
This is good one, but we will have to wait a bit long before any actual ownership reviews pops up. We all know Kawasaki are known for high service cost and maintenance but people have said in different videos and blogs that the Suzuki might be pocket friendly for long term.
Well, this is not a good made comparison unless you are repeating all the time, that this "similar" bikes are differently focused. As happy owner of Versys 650, I would need to upgrade it before try to compare to V-strom XT and ride attempt for real off-road... Then repeat such a review ;-) ...or rather compare Versys 300 with V-storm 250, this make more sense from the start.
Why didn't you highlight Suzuki V-storm's mere 4000 Kms Service interval ?? Touring ADV bike with such a short service interval is a very bad buy at any given price! This is the only let down for the V-storm which is otherwise a very good Pacakage :)

The Kawasaki Versys 650 is a better bike but it’s not an off road bike, it’s a street bike; Kawasaki would need to do an Adventure version of it with spock wheels & an 19 inches front wheel. What we really need (let’s dream) : it’s a new Honda CB650X Adventure Sports or a new Africa Twin 650 cc. The new improved & upgraded CB500X 2019 also seem to be great even if it’s only a 500cc. The VStrom 650 XT is interesting but i’m not a Susuki fan.
I love the Versys but i think its a bike more street oriented with an adventure look. Ninja is a sport street bike & Z650 is a naked street bike. I also love very much the new improved CB500X 2019; great upgrades by Honda; now its a real good budget adventure bike (great, fun & reliable).
Trekky Delirium : Got you.. But if I’d like do a to classification amongst these three, Versys is Adventure Tourer, Ninja is Sports Tourer and Z is a typical Street Bike..
Off topic question - Why do many of the reviewers I've seen (Power Drift, Motor Beam, Auto Car India, etc.,) use safety gears from Alpinestars, Dainese, Arai, HJC, AGV but not the brands like Rynox, Solace, LS2, MT? Many riders suggest brands like Rynox, Solace, LS2, MT to new riders since they offer good protection for better price.
The V-Strom 650 XT is also a great bike, but can you tell me why the stock exhaust is so big, heavy & ugly. Its a very good adventure bike who is alone in a large price range; but Suzuki need to design a new front nose & a new head led lights as its so ugly & a new smaller stock exhaust would also be awesome. Common Suzuki: please do those changes, those improvements & i will highly consider an upgraded, improved, modified V-Strom 650 XT 2020 to upgrade my CB500X 2017.
