another trick to help waterproofing is paint the inside of all the pieces with UV resin, even a 1000g bottle would do all of that size of print with room to spare
I haven’t checked on you channel in almost a year so I’m now watching all videos from newest to oldest and every time I see a video title I die laughing, good job
I've been waiting for a reason to justify to my wife purchasing a 3D printer. I feel this will surely tip the balance in my favor. I'm so glad I found you on the Maker Secret Santa. Have a happy new year!
At some point in the assembly process I had the deluded idea that you could color code the sections in the model to match the random filament so that you could use that to assemble it.
Where can I find an engineer wife with questionable creative tendencies, but with a solid level of mental stability like Emily? To appease the Woke Gods, she needs make a plastic recycler next. Even if she didn't use it as filament, she could figure out a way to "repurpose" it.
I don't think this technique would work super well for this project where you are gluing separate parts together, but for making waterproof parts I've had excellent luck with vapor polishing ABS parts using acetone. It's normally done to get a smooth outer surface, but since the acetone vapor melts the outer surface into a smooth layer it also helps seal up leaks between the layer lines.
1:35 is this print speed normal? I only recently got my first FDM (A creality K1, only printed in resin before that) and it just goes berserk on my settings (600mm/s for infill, 350 for the rest). Is that speed what people had to deal with all those years?
Not only is it an awful idea, it's also an awful design, it's awfully engineered, looks awful, has awful ergonomics, an awful environmental impact and no practical use. I'm impressed, it's much better then anything I ever made!
For waterproofing, after gluing everything, paint surfaces in epoxy resin. This is the same method that can be used for medical grade devices (with proper specific manufacturing methods.) I'm curious how functional putting through hole threaded rod to hold everything together would work. Or making your own large format printer with a fat nozzle.
For an actual toilet race, Check out the "dunny derby" in Winton Aus, as well as the toilet speedsters Colin Furze, Edd China, Paul Sender and Jolene Van Vugt
This would make an amazing lawn ornament / bird bath. It's self refilling and can be easily cleaned by flushing. The birds can perch on the arm rests and even get snacks from the cup holder.
I am so glad I found your channel via maker secret santa and safety third, the chaos levels, they're more than Michael Reeves and it's bloody awesome! Huge props for the immense amount of dedication to pull off what sounds like over a month of printing.
