i’d kill for a channel that’s just from the perspective of a neighbor to a youtuber like you
tbh same here
Hahaha I just had visions of Colin Furze's neighbors, sneakily digging WW1 style tunnels to spy on him and spoil his future videos 😂
I wonder if there is a milf Facebook group in her area...
LOL! "What are they DOING in there? They just brought back a hose, a box of fake wigs and 5 gallons of chicken soup." XD
@@vgadoury I also instantly thought of Furze's neighbours. They'd make a great channel, I'm sure.
I think that the most eco friendly material to make straws is water
Must be possible with alginate or similar?
You could probably make a straw out of ice
Hard water. Genius.
Ice straws, perfect for today
Energy required to make and maintain ice knocks water out of the running. Wood straws are probably king.
I don't think I've ever seen anyone spend this much time trying to figure out new ways to waterboard themselves
These are just clever CIA water-boarding devices you were contracted to make disguised as fun water drinking devices.
You monster.
10/10
For science, you monster.
I love that Emily is like paper straws are bad, but let me make something completely out of plastic to replace the paper straw.
Disposable plastic straws are bad, but reusable face pump ry branded water throw in face launchers are gooooood.
Yes. Emily gets that if you make something reusable it is ten times better than something that is a one time use but good for the planet
@@NationalParkJuniorRanger Paper straws aren't good for the planet. They come from plants grown with synthetic ferts that absolutely DESTROY aquatic ecosystems. They require a lot of fuel to transport the raw materials used to make them, they require a lot of energy to process, and people often need to use multiple paper straws to do the job of one plastic straw.
It's a farce. A show. It LOOKS good for the planet, but it's not. It's not even in the same league as a reuseable plastic object - especially considering the main issue with straws is that they harm animals - a lot less likely with PLA that photodegrades quite quickly.
Thank you. I actually didn’t know that so thank you.
@@BruceNJeffAreMyFlies does PLA not degrade to a microplastic?
The real crime is paying 9$ for a coffee
To be honest, the way things are going that's not too far off. 2/3 that price is the average right now. 😅
There is no QT drink that costs 9 bucks.
This is quickly becoming my new fav 3D printing channel.
Same
Toilet hat ! You shrink a toilet via 3 d printing voodoo magic ,and instead of pipe you put a hose that dumps the content of the bowl in your mouth ! Its so great that you can even mix coctails -you put half ingredients in bowl and half in water tank and when you flush it mixes in your mouth !
JAIL
@@EmilyTheEngineer Its a million dollars idea ,if people wont buy it some people on internet will !
@@zumbazumba1 Patent that before someone else does. Japan will buy it. They have whole toilet-themed restraurants. Figure out how to make your toilet-straw blast a chocolate milkshake and you'll be rolling in yen.
I want to be friends with Emily. She adds that essential element of chaos that keeps the day from getting boring. Like. Imagine hanging out with 5 or 6 friends and 1 of them is Emily, before the day is out your making plans for a rubber band gun fight that escalates until Emily has us making rubber band based WMDs.
dude... imagine a rubber band _grenade._ Like you throw it, and when it hits the ground it just simultaneously fires off hundreds of rubber bands in a sphere around itself
Let's take a moment of silence for those wasted 9 dollars
🙏
🙏
I love how Emily always makes useless inventions and it somehow it works ❤😂
0:29 "And you guys know me, I'm not wasteful"(slowly pans out to her 3D printed toilet)
LOL
So we basically just watched Emily find multiple ways to waterboard herself, lol.
"And you guys know me I'm not wasteful"
*Camera: Pans to the 3d printed toilet*
A milion dollars worthy question -if you drink froam a plastic straw in McDondalds in Colorado and that straw ends up in atlantic ocean how does it end there? They spend so many milllion dollars trying to convince us that plastic straws are the problem that nobody asked how can a straw from a state that has no water nearby end in ocean-companys dump them !
Love your videos!
BTW there is already an alternative available, pasta straw (imagine a long Penne). Biodegradable and doesn't absorb liquid as quickly/badly as paper.
If it takes 6-10 minutes in boiling* water maybe it will last long enough for american cup sizes?
*if anyone has timed it in cold water please do tell us!
@@thatdudeinorange5269 Its essentially forever cold liquids dont have egough power to break down the starches.
@@emeraldbonsai Well, did the test myself and put one piece of penne in a glass of cold water. After 10 minutes it was still 'hard' and then forgot it.. maybe checked at 20 mins.. And now 4+ hours later it sure feels soft 'soggy' but still in one piece And it worked as a straw 😋 Next test is supergluing ten penne to make a longer straw. And Superglue was invented for medical use for the US Army to patch smaller wounds ( bulletholes?) together so aint worried about the health using it.
(If you dont hear from me again, then I was wrong 🤥 )
Wafer straws. They are the straw that's a snack at the end. Like cereal, but useful.
Some places in Europe use those. Unfortunately not so great for the gluten intolerant crowd ...
This whole channel is the embodyment of the questions "Why? Because I can" and "Why? Why not?". I love it.
i swear this channel is the best discovery ive made in 2024, and were only in january
At this point, you should just get a plastic funnel, pour your drink into it and drink.
Im so glad subbed to your channel right before you started uploading a bunch of stuff. Love the unhinged 3d print based engineering on display
I am all for more “unhinged” posts as well! Primary process FTW! Emily, I think this would be even more awesome if you were, um, slightly less than sober. Go all in! Also you rule 🤘
I found the straw thing very funny.. Just get rid of the lid than you don't need a straw at all.. Problem solved.
I did find a good straw it was paper in a paper wrapper it was heavy duty enough it lasted for an entire meal at the restaurant. They had them at Qdoba. I just throw away the Soggy one and grab a couple more when I leave the store
The recurring question that comes up in this video is "Why is Emily doing this inside?!?"
Fun, good, creative video. Next time try ACTUALLY making a replacement for a plastic straw (but, out of 3D printed plastic🤔🤦) with MORE CREATIVITY & IT BEING INTERACTIVE
Also, try turning that 3D printed toilet into a 👑Throne
You could have 3D printed a tesla straw. They're cool and work and they AREN'T STRAWS
But brain not become big by nothing. Brain become big by brilliant! Classic Emily, so witty and funny, love your videos keep them coming. Oh, I because sorted into the DeWalt house of magic... Just sorta happened that way.
Straw made from frozen water! It's multifunctional!
That smack down intro. Worth the $9 😂
I think the ultimate straw replacement is glass straw, then it also would become a regular utensil like restaurants offer it and just keep it so there isn’t the whole “budget for continuously buying more and more straws”-
You might think well a metal straw would be better but, that shit tastes weird, and I hate it, do glass
Or maybe just create a way to responsibly dispose of plastic straws?
What, you mean those grates they install in the streets are not for disposing of plastic in?
I can't wait for you doing a collab with Simone Giertz. That must be fun for you and for us viewers.
paper straw is the single worst idea ever conceived by anyone ever just so we can stop using plastic which is totally recyclable btw... dont they know paper absorbs water?? pleasse shtap
Do you use or get actionable intelligence, when you waterboard yourself?
Hey Emily the engineer, you can make the spider-man web shooter? Please 😊❤
came from the This Old Tony video, stayed for the raw unhinged insanity.
I love that the toilet appears to still be exactly where it fell
Can you make a video aboutiron man mark 46🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Straws = bad
*_makes portable drinking fountain_*
the plastic straw debacle was/is distraction from the real culprits: manufacturing process waste and tire wear on vehicles. just like the whole "litter bug" thing was a distraction and individualization of a social problem caused by production and marketing-induced demand.
Have you thought of drinking piping hot coffee with any of these?
This aversion to paper straws will only further the “Micheal Reeves with 3D printers” allegations.
or my favorite way dont use a straw just use the cup that dosent have to be plastic
This editing and meme style brings me back to a simpler time, I love it
0:47 fair enough lmao
Also new sub here !
I personally drink using my second amendment.
Please, I need the files. Please release them somewhere
If you ever need to extract information from yourself, you could use the hat to waterboard yourself.
THIS CHANNEL IS AMAZING!!!!
I've never seen a self waterboarding before. @6:55
I like how most of these ideas could actually work how you intended them to with a bit more tinkering to fix the glaring issues. Very fun video, keep it up!
Or you could just use a collapsible metal straw
You used more plastic to save plastic.
Mod the 10 foot tall ender 3 to print in chocolate 😂
Pretty sure some of these could be a bong
"That was nine dollars"🤣
Emily has invented new ways to waterboard people... This is why I subscribed!
this reminds me of the Dyson blade-less fan where they haven't removed the fan they just hidden it. you should probably buy a ProtoCycler so you can re-use your old prints as recycled fillament.
I'll just Keri on using a multi-use metal straw... but had a good laugh watching this! Funnily over-engineered to the point of rubegoldbergianism.
1:05 gggggggg
6:10 sums up so many of Emily's videos: "Maybe I shouldn't do [unhinged thing], instead I'm going to [do the same thing in a somehow 10x more unhinged way]"
Somehow Twitch would have found a way to ban someone for yeeting water, with their implied TOS.
If at first you don't succeed, try something more ridiculous until the end result makes it difficult to determine what your initial goal actually was 😂
Damn I think this is gonna be my new motto
Idea: Put the cup above the head, make it pour in a (bigger) funnel in front, and twist the not-a-straw a bit more so it produces a nice little drinking fountain (ideally to the side).
It might be a bit too boring however... 😄
I love the waterboarding hat!
I don’t have anything to add, I think everything that was done here is brilliant.
I just wanted to add a comment for *ENGAGEMENT* 🤘🧐
Just so y'all know there's this cool plant based plastic. ive used a plant based plastic fork and it felt like actual plastic fork.
I mean, actual plastic is just made from really old plants, right?
A shoulder mount might be better. Rum instead of a parrot or a parrot that shoots rum?
The first model could be very popular if you used apple juice, in some countries could make a great side hustle on some "HUB" sites for the German, Brazilian and Japanese market.
Edit: The last one could be a fun game, you hook the servo up to arduino, make four hats, each gets a controller, the controller operates someone else's gets randomized every time, and then you roll the die and it determines how many times you press the button which is also random. Can either increment forward 1, 2, -1, -2 also randomized, like a fun russian roulette without the brain mess, but water mess or whatever.
Just buy a metal straw
The pump idea has potential. Just need to direct the water side ways. (Water fountain)
another day, another emily the engineer video where she makes something completely ridonkcilous
Straws are strawy WHO AGREES
Straws
"are you using plastic straws? CANCELLED!" And then she proceeds to 3d print straws out of PLASTIC (of which straws in mention will probably turn into more plastic scrap).
I know the point is that it's shitty, but why not have the cup remain closed and have a hole in the bottom with the servo controlling a little rotating blocker thing in the bottom, so when you hold the button it spins and lets the water flow down the hole into the stra-- the drinking tube.
During your inspirational moment with Smitty, I was really expecting "ᵐʳ ᵏʳᵃᵇˢ ᶦ ʰᵃᵛᵉ ᵃⁿ ᶦᵈᵉᵃᵃᵃᵃᵃᵃ"
I love the humor of being an engineer without common sense.
Straw suck. A better upgrade to a sucky straw would be a "blowie tube"... make a cup that can be pressurized, add a cap with a valved flexible tubing (Tubing...is NOT a straw). Pump it up with either schrader valve or rubber ball/needle valve, or include an integrated hand pump in the lid. It will dispense at a rate depending on the pressure that you have pumped up to, and you can drink without sucking... ... (and use it as a squirt gun ;) )
All I need is money for development.
I need a bespoke motor made. It costs $11.8k for a part I need.
Ever seen Good Will Hunting? My life and gifts are wasted among people who can't understand the things I say.
Please someone listen to me.
I have what is called "Cassandra's curse". Please help me.
I'm not impressed. Same with Allen Pan.
You UA-camrs make novelty gadgets. I'm developing a new technology but no one I talk to will help me with funding.
I wasn't born with money, but I am a genius. It's more clear as time passes. Help me.
You should try 3d printing a car or go kart
Paper straws often contain PFAS which are linked to many health issues. One of these issues, and I’m not joking, is reduced size of manhood in developing boys. Ouch
Just found your channel, and damn son! This is underrated. You're fuckin hilarious. Love the SpongeBob references btw.
Install a camera on the spout of the cup, use machine learning to identify a open and closed lips. Can even make sequence of pursing lips program delay/dwell time of water squirts. All you have to do is fill water, shake the cup to wake it up, point spout to mouth open mouth, drink water, repeat!. Problem solved😂❤👍
Aren't you in illinois? Mother says it's quite cold by where she is, and she's in the Chicagoland area, SW burbs. I'm not since I moved out of Chicago for Coastal Mississippi.
How did brain become big with Brilliant when Brain has been around 20+ years, Brilliant Exist for maximum of 11 years. Brain was Big Before Brilliant, Big Brain always refuse credit.
One solution was squirty straw, one was sucky tube straw, one was spinny straw, and one was funnel straw. All made out of plastic (besides the electronics)
Mission Failed Successfully
Fun fact: PLA and 3d prints aren't food safe due to high levels of lead and other heavy metals
Probably a dumb question but has someone tried to find the most transparent 3D printing material? or is it really just not worth it? (idk Just was thinking about cool "aquarium" designs)
Not sure why this video was any longer than two minutes. You pretty much solved the problem on the first two minutes with that fountain attachment. But I guess I'll keep watching because it's probably good for the algorithm or whatever.
Stupendous. Do Magnetohydrodynamics next.
If everyone just sold those wafer straw things, like the flavoured ones, then we would not have this problem. Wafer beats paper. Metal beats wafer. Plastic is still superior, just actually try separate it from compatibles, because the real problem is when the trash goes to landfill, there always going to be cases where people chuck the wrong thing in the wrong bit.
Frankly I can't understand why sea life just can't learn how to use straws properly. If they'd just listen up and pay attention soooooooo many problems would just go away.
Then again I can't understand why anyone would want or need a straw anyway. I'd rather just drink like a normal human instead of sucking it.
When i was at hospital i used drip straw as a drinking straw because i needed something softer.
I think people should try coating paper straws with melted sugar so it wouldn't get soggy for a long time but eventually will decompose. If it would change the taste it would just be sweet like most things people drink
I think the easiest way to drink water would be, if you used some assistance of compressed air or even liquid nitrogen to build up a little pressure. With only a little plumbing you could build a very simple "bottle" containing water and compressed gases.
this channel is the MSG of mythbusters, the build team on crack. if you know......
huh.. we've always used paper cups but as soon as it's paper straws replacing plastic straws "paper bad"... do I smell a conspiracy????
Ryobi, colt, DeWalt, and Milwaukee. Am I missing anything guys?
She's like Michael Reeves except maybe 10% less deranged. Good stuff
Day ‘Some Fake Number’ of asking for a video of what 3D printers you would recommend
lets go emily nice video
