Jim Martin's tone and playing is so smooth! Perfect. Regardless of how things ended up with the band, he knew his craft and kicked ass as their lead guitarist, IMHO.
He's known to get bored quickly. And this being one of FNM's most popular and most repeated, well I'm sure he was done with that nonsense after a year of promoting. Now, if they played some "Jizzlobber" you would see that boy come alive!
lol - that is funny. He must have been gone very soon after this due to what i believe to be a problem between him and Patton (or he just hated Patton) I think Jim Martin was a huge loss, FNM would release 2 albums i enjoyed a lot after Angel Dust - KFAD ironically enough has Mr Bungle guitarist Trey Spruance doing the tracks but due to he and Patton's relationship he did not tour with them, and they finally found a guitarist for their final album at the time, "AOTY" in 1997 and 18 years later released, "Sol Invictus" which is cool as you see a lot of bands regrouping and touring but not making an new album. It would be cool if GNR went and made a new album to tour but they are just covering themselves from the 80s
This video couldnt be a clearer foreshadowing of what's to come of Faith No More and Jim Martin. This was within 3 months of his final show with the band. FNM fired Jim on November 30, 1993. The band was starting to become 4 guys and 1 guy(Jim). The band all came together as one for the final two albums after Jim was fired. They even did on Angel Dust but Jim was the only member that wasn't on the same page for that. Before Angel Dust their edge was being a band full of different personalities.
Hey Hey.. was a comedy variety show that ran for a million years on Australian TV that, alas, featured artists 'playing live' to their recordings. I adored this show as a kid but as an FNM fan, seeing this makes me cringe big time.
I remember seeing this episode and at one point, the irritating host Daryl Somers asked the band "Are you guys tired?", to which Patton gives an astoundingly sarcastic look and says "Yeah. We're tired..."
@@westaussie965 I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic or not. But the band is clearly irritated that they hadto pretend to play along to a pre recorded track and Mike Patton is essentially singing karaoke. It's kind of insulting to their talent.
Jim wanted the band to remain their original way of being 4 members of different personalities. Jim the heavy metal guitarist, Billy the slap bassist, Roddy the melodic keyboardist, and Mike Bordin the african styled percussionist. That era was definitely awesome but you wanna evolve at some point. The band evolved and Jim didn't. The way FNM pulled off "I Started A Joke" and "This Guy's Inlove With You", showed their chemistry as one evolving. Jim wanted FNM to stay the same way forever.

Was thinking the same thing! Also loved his cameo in Bill and Ted!
Even though Hey Hey It's Saturday was a light hearted show, Angel Dust was arguably the darkest album Faith No More has ever put out.
I love this album and I've learn to enjoy King :)
How so?
Flip a coin between Angel Dust and King For A Lifetime
@@ManuvahRecords Nah Angel Dust is the Darkest by far.
Imagine the surprise if off the back of this perfomance you booked a ticket because you loved the easy going vibe that they put out!
kind of like all the grandmas that bought disturbed albums with the sound of silence on it lmao
I was there and yes, saw a mum and her two daughters at the Horden Pavilion waiting patiently for Easy.
I love Billy Gould headbanging at 2:30, Lol.
Always liked how they made this a FNM song. Bravo!
I remember watching this and then watching them in Adelaide as the 1st concert I ever saw. Fuck 20 yrs ago lol I feel old
just feel lucky. :)
+Lohanna Frauches I saw FNM in Paris in 1992...and yes you're right I feel lucky :) kiss from France
I saw them on the 2nd of May 93 at the Thebarton theatre in Adelaide. First concert I ever saw too.
Now 27 years ago, eek.
@@Wolven1 I was at Thebarton that nite also, went for a crowd surf

you american guys are very lucky to have all of this rock bands that weas created in your country
This is so good. Can’t believe I’ve never seen this. I grew up watching hey hey it’s Saturday, such a good show.
Mike looks either pissed off or tired. Though towards the end he looks like he doesn't want to be there :( He sang this beautifully.
i was about to say the same.
Maybe it's beacuse of the playback (apart from the vocals), it has to be kinda boring, mainly if u do this every day of the week. Just a thought.
He probably wanted to sing an actual Faith No More song.
damn right they should've ripped straight into war pigs and refused to stop! :)

This is 20 years ago....damn i feel old.
U are
How old do you feel now?
30 now 😃
Never see this before thanks, sweet and easy presentation.
Wow they sounded so good especially for back in the 90s when tv shows would always cook it on the mixing desk.
Instrumental pre recorded backing track unfortunately. Ironic Paton self karaoke.
@@johnpetith5523 no, really?! Did not pick that.. guitar as well?
@@johnpetith5523 Pattons the only one live
Jim martin cracks me up with that look on his face and the tongue wag lol
Joe York Hahaha Me too, I wasn't expecting that!
Joe York Jim Martin was their best guitarist,he's one of my inspirations on playing the guitar,I play acoustic and electric guitar 😎

Creepy Big Jim
Trey Spruance is a much better guitarist than Jim Martin. But Martin suited the band more. Nothing stands up to The Real Thing or Angel dust.
he looks SO thrilled to be there
You can see Jim Martin dying. Funny. Thanks for the video.
amazing; cover.
thank you
Hey Hey It's Sunday morning.
I remember this : )
imagine going to a 1993 FNM show if this was the only thing you'd ever heard from them
The show host has some Mike Patton in him at the end, kinda funny....
1:07 a mysterious chord suddenly appeared...
They did this on a few shows. Everything was dubbed except patton on a few of them. That’s why the guys are making it obvious they aren’t playing it.
I'm glad. i like you. thanks :)
q bello!!!!
Naw I remember my grandma taping this on VHS for me :) Thanks so much for uploading it!
👍Grandma's do those kind of things...mine did too.
.. I miss her.

The band had zero say on the album even the Record creeps named the album Jim was out
maybe they had a some kind of disagreement over what single they'd play for this show and had to pick this song from the album..
FNM on Hey Hey! I didn't watch enough telly as a teen.
Puffy is miming his drum part left handed, love it
Steve Mitchelmore Puffy’s a left handed player!
Why would someone dislike this video?
wow, Jim isn't playing a flying V.

Terry Evans why

Well, look at the half arsed effort the singer is giving🤷🏼♀️don’t go on a show, don’t tour, don’t try and be famous if you can’t hack it😉

Jim Martin licked the mic.
Es raro ver cantar a Mike con un microfono sin cable...
Poor mans Rod Hull n Emu
a genuise to come
01:59 awesome performance
mijito rico...
haha it was all playback apart from the vocals.. very easy to spot :D
Mike's in a hurry to get back to the hotel so he can put poop into the hair dryers.
I love you.
Crazy times. Never a fan of Ozzie ostrich. Plucka had him covered
Patton BORED!
I bet that host hated that puppet with a vengeance
Wearing 2 pairs of sunglasses indoors.
Then: He's cool, has style.
Now: Instantly becomes a meme.
1:59 😝😝😝 lol
cordless mic!
Omg i would marry him right now.
Ozzie 'is that you mum?' 😅
it's live no phonogram
Haha Ozzy Ostrich...
Is Mike P wearing a cop shoot cop shirt ?
the guitar solo sound EXACTLY the same as on record... don't tell me they used playback here. :O
look at the drums...... wrong way
It was pantomiming. Only Mike's vocals were live. Even the backing vocals were the album vocals.
NightwingReturns they usaully dont do that
Flawless version! But... why Bordin left-handed just here and... wtf is heyheysaturday? =p
polacomp3z Patton was singing and everyone was pantomiming. The music was the album music. And backing vocals.
Hey hey its saturday was an australian variety show, that actually was funny
We have a new album, but hey, let's play Easy :v.
CherPsKy Easy was on Angel Dust though.......they even made a video for it.
It was on the Australian edition of Angel Dust.
Bernie it most definitely was, I have it right here in front of me. Google it.

I remember silverchair getting a run.
he's singing to a backing track
1:35 135
their reaction at the end.. not interested ha
Lol...
Why would someone let a emu on a show like this
It's hilarious that they're promoting their album but playing a Lionel Richie song... I wonder if that has anything to do why Mike looks pissed?
I like FNM this was always cringe to me!
Beautiful but a stupid show poor guys
What's with the creepy british puppet?
Omg i would marry him right now.
