Diesel Gladiator Build Episode 2! DIY Tire Mount, Motobuilt Bumpers And More

- This episode of the Gladiator series was a mess lol. It took place over a couple of weeks and it was a challenge to get my schedule to cooperate with the install. That said, we were able to get some very important work done. Motobuilt bumpers, a Warn winch and a tire mount are all super important mods for a quick increase in performance. And we even installed a sweet gear mount system for our phone, radio and tablet. I hope those of you that are installing parts for the first time are getting some confidence from seeing me do it. This stuff is easy! Break out the Costco tool kit and install some of this stuff yourself!

I love the fact you involve your son. I wish I had did this with mine. Now that they are adults I realize how much I missed by my own lack of patience. Good job!
These kiddos are important! I'm just trying to do the best Job I can lol
@@DirtLifestyle seems like you are doing a fantastic job!
@@DirtLifestyle you should build an off-road go cart with him once he gets a bit older
@@DirtLifestyle I want to second this. It was hard not to smile and feel warm inside watching that. Great job Daddy.
Watching your son help made me smile. It’s great that you’re able to share that experience with him.
Good! Glad some of you are digging seeing him help 👍
That father and son moment was the best, and when I was his age, I would have loved to do that with my father too. Memories that should last a lifetime.
Hi Nate, love seeing your son helping you in the garage. I have a 7 year old daughter and we do oil changes, bolt on installations and cleaning together on our 4Runner. 🙂
Nice! That's what it's all about! The job might take twice as long with the kiddos involved lol but it's fun seeing these tasks through a fresh set of eyes
have you done a video where you compare your toyota to the gladiator. I know they are both nice trucks just curious about seeing em side by side.
@@David-rj1ru I was why have Both just see compares between them and out do Brad? Looking to see what Nate going to do with them? Happy Blessed Birthday Jesus, God Blessing form Iowa, USA
I was putting new shock on my Silverado on Sunday with my 8 year old son who’s my shadow when working outside. He looked at me in the middle of the job and said ‘I love doing this stuff with you dad’. Melted my heart.
Your son eagerly helping out makes me miss my dad. I lost him this year at the age of 94 and one of the best things was helping him out with his projects. Keep making memories and cool stuff.
Greatest video ever. Doesn't matter what you built or did... was having a super crappy night and your 4yr old say "ok" made my night. Thanks and god for you for involving him.
I appreciate you all the more observing how you get your son involved. He can already communicate relevantly effectively. I taught both of my daughters how to change a tire, oil, and windshield wipers so they never had to rely on someone else. Small things can be big confidence boosters. Quality time spent together doing things that have meaning are beyond priceless.
Your sons help was awesome. I loved his comments.
My 4 year old daughter loves to help me too. It usually takes twice as long but it's worth it!
My sons 3 and a half so this especially made me smile. Your 4 year old is pretty damn smart I gotta say.
Thanks!
The boy helping was the best part to watch. When he's wheeling with you he can legitimately say he helped with the build 🇺🇸
I am really impressed with your son in there helping. I predict a jeep build when he is around 13 years old. Start saving parts now.
I love the father/son moments in these videos, we need more of them. All of your builds are awesome tutorials keep them coming whichever order you need.
My dad passed away when I was 17. I used to help with with simple car projects so seeing you share these memories with your kid warms my heart! Thanks for another fantastic video!
The best scene was when you were on top of the Decked system and you saw these two little feet sticking out from the drawer slot! LOL! Nicely done Nate!
You’ve got a great helper. I remember helping my dad when I was his age. My boys were not the least bit interested in working on cars and trucks. ☹️
Having a little helper is great, it gives you an opportunity to figure out if you are a good teacher lol. I had my daughter do the same concept that you did. The whole time, I was thinking..... keep the wrench on...keep the wrench on.... Good content.
Loved your boy crawling in there and helping out.. Beautiful...
Really liking the build..
Your son is such a helper!!! AWESOME!
You sir ...are an AWESOME dad!
Good Grief. i have to say, this young man....well, i am 65...... and his friends on the show seem like REAL Decent and nice guys.
More people like this please 🙂
Teaching him young ! Love it! You are a good Dad!
Love the little guy angle that was the cutest!!!
Lol
Gotta live when the kids can get involved!!!
I love that you get your little guy involved in some of the projects. I do try to get my 4yo grandson involved when I work on my Jeep and he loves helping too.
The making of a gearhead - excellent!
So cool! I remember crawling under things to hold a wrench for my dad 50 years ago.
My father didn’t do this with me. And life worked out that I was not able to find a nice girl to start a family and do that with a son or daughter. So, vicariously, this warmed my heart to watch you with your boy being a good dad ❤️✊🏻
Little man learning valuable skilz he can carry with him for life and hopefully pass it along. Worth more than any toy/video game. I know you video all this but keep some pics. Sometimes in life that is all some have for memories. Love the channel.
Breathe Nate 😅
Your going so fast trying to cram everything in.
Remember to enjoy your beautiful family, and when you have fun with your projects, we have fun watching it all ☀️👋🇸🇪
Father and son memories. The best!!!
Agreed!
My dad got me into cars, and included me I what he was working on from a very young age. That bond has only grown stronger, just 2 weeks ago, he came out to my place just to help me change the rad and straighten the rad settle in my car after a tire blow out sent me into the ditch, and i to some downed logs. He didn't have to come out, but he did just to spend time wrenching together
Hope you and your son have as many change to make memories working on projects together, and that one day it won't just be just your projects you two are working on
Your son is awesome. Love seeing him help Dad. 👍🏽🇺🇸👍🏽
Another cool project video. The bonding you do with your son when you get him in on projects is immeasurable. I'm a single dad (since he was 8 weeks) and we've done almost everything together for close to 14 yrs. Best job ever! Biggest blessing ever! Biggest honor of my life has been to be a dad. Patience is the hardest thing...I fail a little every day but I have faith that I am raising a decent human and I cherish every day that we've had and have remaining.
That was freaking awesome! Get that boy on a welder ASAP. Don’t tell mom.
That was amazing to see you get your wee kid involved, he seemed very keen too. I'd loved to have had that as a kid, could have have saved me a fortune in mechanics..!
My 2.5 year old daughter and I watch your videos on the weekend. She loves when your son makes an appearance. Keep up the great work Nate.
Lol he will continue to be part of these builds. And the older he gets the more involved he will become 👍
This is so awesome. I hope mine doesn't lose his interest as he gets older. Well done. 👍
He was so brave, probably loud as hell in there with the impact.
That is awesome that your son wants to help! When my kiddo was little I couldn’t pay or bribe help. Enjoy your time with him while he is little. It will be over in the blink of an eye.
Love your content and keep it coming!!!
That is some epic father son teamwork there!
I realize this isn't a Taco specific video, but saw an interested idea I wanted to throw you way as I try to make my own version of this (because I'm poor lol).
In Australia they have the Hilux of course which is very similar to the taco, and for the Hilux you can buy something called the UTEMaster Load Lid.
Basically it's a hard lid for the bed that raises up and stays up.
You can keep stuff locked up in the bed, load stuff on the lid, and in watching Ronny Dahl use it....I like it more then the Diamond Back cover that you can buy for the Taco which is the next closest thing.
All that to say, a DIY load lid of some kind would be super rad and I think a cost effective project based on the cost of these accessories new.
One way or the other, would love to see what you have in store for the Tacoma's bed.
Get your kid a headlight for the garage and camp at night. Also, do LED lights produce enough heat to clear snow off the lens? That snow trip was awesome.
Best part of your videos is you include everything including mistakes and changing in direction of the build. Awesome thanks 😊
Your boy is great. Include him whenever you can.
Good job. Father and son projects are awesome.
And he fit the hiring criteria perfectly 😁
@@DirtLifestyle he probably eats too much. Lol
Looking forward to what you have in store for the Tacoma!
What Nate doing having more 4X4's then Brad? Happy see Your Son Helping You out. Happy Blessed Birthday Jesus, God Blessings from Iowa,USA
That was the coolest thing getting your kid to help and use tools. Kids now days don’t use tools. I have adult friends that don’t what end of a screwdriver to use.
Honestly warmed my heart and confirmed why I love your videos and have watched from the beginning but love that you filmed it with your son. I have a 2 year old and can’t wait for this kind of stuff with him. Thanks for the great videos Nate!
I always tell people as a mechanic I want to make sure my kids never have to ask another person to fix their car unless they choose to. Imo basic mechanical skills are only getting more valuable by the day.
Great to see you getting your boy involved! I loved having my boys in the garage with me, helping and learning how to get 'er done! Keep up the good work!
So great that you have your son helping. I did the same with all my boys and now that there grown they all turn wrenches on there own stuff and we reminisce about all the things we did together when they were little. Great job brother.
Another great video Nate!!.. thanks for including the bit with your son. I so miss those days when my kids were young. They grow up so fast, but it seems as though you’re enjoying their youth and cherishing the time with them. God bless you and your family!!
A star is born... Your son is a natural. Nate thanks for sharing.
Oh hey those look like Hutchinson Rock Monster wheels - how do you like them?
Your son assisting is definitely an idea that's time has come.
Dude, Nate, soo cool to see you get your little man out in the garage to wrench with dad. Good man. Glad to see it brotha
Great video! I started to cringe when you said the skids were for a gas Gladiator. That fuel tank is on the opposite side! Your helper looks to be doing a great job too

“I’m gonna put a rubber washer on it, so when it rains, it’s gonna help keep the rain from getting down in there. Does that make sense?”
“OOOOH!”
😆❤️😆❤️😆❤️
It was awesome watching you help your son install that tire mount 🤣
it soo great to see how excited your boy was to do and experience working on a vehicle and with his dad!!!!! keep up the fun
To cute! I always tried to get my daughters to help me with my projects, but they never kept their. Interest for very long and would wonder off to play with their toys…lol
Nate as always you produce really great content. Having your four year old involved is priceless, something the both of you will treasure forever…
Really liking the way this Gladiator build is going, nothing the average owner couldn’t handle…
Stay safe and Happy Holidays.
Thanks!
Keep the kids involved. My daughter helped me install a gooseneck hitch in my Ram last Friday. My son gets in tonight to finish up his J-20 this week.
Great vid. Enjoy that son of yours while he’s young for as long as you can. One day, very soon, he’ll be the other man living in your house
Fantastic vid, especially with your son helping!!!
Fantastic stuff Nate. Amazing seeing your boy help. Cheers and thanks for the amazing content.
Thank you!
YES! I’ve been waiting a year to see more low buck diesel truck 🤘🏼🤘🏼
Dude me too. I can't wait to get back to that truck. I just need to get everything else in order so I can focus on it and build it right 👍
The first 18 minutes of this video was pretty good, but as soon as your son came out to help that really made it. Brings back great memories of working on my Jeep with my boys. Thanks Nate. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Great content. I look forward to getting my 4 yr old in the garage too!
Thanks!
Nate I think you should try and build an Aussie style canopy for the JT. Like a MITS Alloy top that the 4WD 24-7 guys run.
Great video Nate! Love the builds from scratch, snow wheeling and camping videos too.
But the best thing is watching the feet of your son wiggling out the back of the bed!🤣
Just thinking maybe some day your son might have a Dirt Lifestyle 2.0 channel and carry on the "tradition of it all! 👍
Merry Christmas to you and your family Nate. 🎄🇺🇸
Be safe and God bless.
Lol he is a cute kiddo for sure! Good helper when he is focused 😁.
Merry Christmas
Your son is awesome, great addition to a super helpful video.
I'm surprised you didn't go with a high clearance bumper. I've seen high clearance bumpers that go right below the frame level, although it does involve chopping the gladiator body quite a bit. Then again, I can see you're trying to have a build that's more bolt on parts for a broader audience. Nothing wrong with that! Can't wait to see how this build goes!
Great footage of you and your son! Well done dad!! Love your channel and watch it with my kids. Keep up the great work and inspiring videos!
Tell Northridge to send those skids my way! Loving the gladiator build.
I love this! Good job dad.
Very excited for the taco build!
Being a father of 4, the part with your boy helping you was too cute, his little boots hanging out the back and telling dad "its tight"!! Love it!
Priceless. Great job both of you.
@8:29...THIS SMILE, IS WHY WE ALL DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Awesome video Nate! First, I love that you have the kiddo help ya out like that! Great parenting 101. Pretty sure all the audience loves it too! Second, looks like good things are coming for 2022, really looking forward to seeing some of these projects progress!
Seeing your TJ on flat tires in multiple videos makes me feel better seeing mine on flat tires in the shop over winter too lol
dude your son is so cute. love him helping you. awesome
Absolutely hyped for the up & coming projects✊🏼✊🏼✊🏼
Having your young son successfully help you mount that bracket makes this the best video yet 😂
As usual, great video, Nate!
i remember helping my pop's my kids remember helping me my grandkids are now helping there Dads
Man I need a pole barn. Im craving some welding projects. Also I used that aluminum spray paint stuff. Pretty neat
Mighty fine workshop apprentice you got there.
This was my favorite episode of yours. The father son moment was so special and heartwarming. Just picked up a 22 JTRD and getting ready to build it. Keep up the great work!
Nate, Where did you get that shovel? PS having your son helping is pure gold to watch!
Man that was adorable!!!!
Damn Nate's teaching his son about rubber washers, I don't even use those. Kiddo can't probably out wrench me any day of the week.
Jeep is looking so good! But man I can’t wait to see the taco transform!!
Thanks! Me too! It's been a long time coming 👍
I love your videos! No need to apologize for what you choose to do man! Your videos are amazing! Keep on keeping on!
Cool stuff. I am excited for the skid plates
Can’t wait for the J10 project!
Those rivnuts were never going to work. :P Love seeing your little guy working in the garage with you. Gladiators looking great!
Great video on the paint prep as well as your new front and rear bumper install for your Jeep Gladiator. The snow wheeling adventure looked like fun. Keep up the Great Videos. -Fellow JT owner and adventurer.
Looking forward to seeing more work on the trailer. 👍
Just ordered a case of truck bed liner from Seymour paint and also ordered a few other cans to try out like Good Grip and Hot Spot. Thanks.. Love those 39’s
