I dont care what anyone else says. I really liked this game. Most of these people admitted they played it for one hour, maybe two, and gave up. Most of that time would've been spent on character creation and the introduction. How are you going to judge a game if you barely played it. This game does have issues, but it's still pretty great. If they do make the second one i hope they do expand the mechanics, locations, features, etc, but in a world of games that are mindnumblingly boring, samish, and anything but unique, this one hooked my interest right away.

yeah i agree, from what i've seen - people just don't give it enough chance and say it's boring when they started which i thought the same to be honest but overall, it was great imo!

The game is good at being mediocre. It came out in a time when people were starving for RPGs, around the time of the pandemic. Greedfall shares a very similar fate imo.
Neither games do anything new. They were special at being average in pretty much everything.

I bought the game at launch, i played it, within an hour or so, I was doing this mission, finished it, talkes to buddy, he gave me my reward, & as soon as he did every npc in the city started attacking me, created a new character, same thing, i never sold the game i just let it collect dust, a couple years after i decided to give er a go, to end up at the same part & same bug, so again gave it up, it just came out of PS extra for the spacers choice edition, i am currently downloading it, cause I hate having a game I own that i wasnt able to give a fair shake, but if it happens again imma be pissed lol.

storywise when I was near the end, I thought it was halfway only, and when the game dropped "the end" on me, my jaw just went free-falling, WHAT? definitely, developers cut it short for an unknown reason, I just refuse to believe it was meant to be that way

Outer Worlds is a basically the opposite of something like Skyrim, in that while it isn’t very wide, it’s really deep. You can play the game three different times and have entirely different experiences.
If you replay it you should try turning in the guy who saved you, for example. You can straight up join The Board and experience the game from their pov as the bad guy.
Edit: My point is that doing one playthrough may make it feel short, but once you realize how many options a single playthrough has you’ll realize where all the manpower went. There’s so much stuff you’ll just never see in a single run.

I played this game when it released for the Xbox One back in 2019. Instantly loved it. From the looting aspect to the world and story/dialogue. Finding myself replaying it on PC now that it’s free on Epic. Really good game. It’s soundtrack also plays a big role for me. I love the orchestral music throughout most of the game. Truly brings out the scale of the world and shows why everyone in it feels so small (and kinda depressed haha).

Game him the meds instead and since he was using it as a junkie I ended up killing him then I was able to loot the meds back! and sell it to the girl as well! Easy 2k in the first 30 minutes of playing. 10/10 game.

I really liked that game. Played through the original, the dlcs and the spacers choice edition (didn't care much for the reddish shaders), and had much more fun doing so than with Fallout76, or Starfield for that matter. It has the best aspects of Fallout without its flaws, the endless grind and the feeling that you are doing chores instead of playing a game. I also didn't need a single mod to enjoy it, while any Fallout without mods is unthinkable.
I'm really looking forward to the sequel - if they just expand on it and do more of everything, I'm perfectly happy.

I really enjoyed this game when I played it back in 2022. I didn't get very far but I already enjoyed it, and I could see where my decisions when playing really factored into that. My ex is the one that bought the game originally and he was so eager to get off world, he didn't pay any attention to any of the beginning NPCs you talk to. When he got to the spaceship, he was disappointed, expecting something more, and quickly gave up on the game because he missed a lot of background story development and info. Idk if its just me, but when I really made an effort to explore everything, get as much loot as possible, and talk to EVERY NPC and not just skip through dialogue, I became so invested in the story. By the time I got to the ship, I was hooked. I haven't picked it back up since but I just got the Spacer's Choice edition for free on Epic Games so I'm really excited to give it another shot and see if I still feel the same!

I grabbed it for free on Epic. No complains there. I would compare it with Starfield, although w/on space game play. Even with its 5 years of age, the looks is on par if not better on several maps, the dialogues, the sound, the maps system etc. While it is no open world game and may not have such a high budget production budget, it is still a high quality game. The game has a fast map switch and fast travel system. So the overall experience is smooth and pleasant.

I havent watched this yet, but I say yes! I just picked this gem up after playing Prey 3 times over and just feeling like I needed to play something else.. At first i had no idea what to expect, and almost didnt continue to play from the intro, glad i did, its quite fun, very extensive, and its really interesting to see who will want to kill you and who will want to befriend you etc.. missions are fun, not too far apart from each other, but like prey the loading is a bit much, but I dont even mind it when the quality of content in the game is as much as these are. That said, Prey is my all time favorite game, this one may be top 10 after a week of playing, but i guess depends on how it ends.. but the dialog aspect of it is quite brilliant! imo its better than fallout.. i couldnt get too deep into that it was a lot of confusing things you had to do to then do something else.. but that could be just me, they make this easier than that .

I'm gonna answer the title before I watch the video, to just give an opinion. Might edit after with more.
I just started this game for the first time, on my Switch. Before you ask, yes it runs iffy at best, like, 20fps if lucky, and it's graphics are lower and there's pop-in, but it's still fun, especially if you're used to that kinda stuff. It's giving me heavy Fallout vibes, for obvious reasons. Also gives me some Starfield vibes, having played that before this. I wouldn't say Outer Worlds is perfect, far from it. I wouldn't even say I like it as much as the Fallout games (I absolutely love the Fallout setting, which is a big part of that). BUT, it's still fun. It's a Fallout styled game, by the people that made New Vegas, with a Space theme. And it still even has that Fallout world vibe sometimes, with abandoned buildings, scavenger type enemies, mutated looking animals, and run-down towns and outposts.
So my answer would be, yes. Totally worth playing. I mean, I'm having fun and I'm playing on the lower quality laggy Switch port. I imagine literally every other version is even more fun. Then add in that PC probably has mods to fix any issues with the game you may have.
    --
Also, to mention Fallout 76, since the video did right away. I wouldn't necessarily say it's worth playing. It depends on the person. In 76's case (and Elder Scrolls Online), there's fairly heavy limitations to inventory and storage space, that can only be fixed by spending real life money on their monthly subscription plan. THEN you get bonus storage, bonus this, bonus that...most of which is stuff that SHOULD be in the game for free, but isn't because Bethesda wants subscription money. IF you can handle having a stupidly smaller inventory, stupidly small storage, and a fairly limited build budget, or if you really wanna spend money on the subscription, I'd recommend playing it. If you can't handle a small inventory/storage, or just get annoyed by the entire concept of limiting free players' basic functions to sell subscriptions, then I wouldn't recommend it. Aside from those issues (that are BIG issues once you're actually playing), the game is actually pretty fun. I mean, I play Fallout to wander and explore, and 76 is just one big Fallout to explore, but multiplayer. But you also have to enjoy the more FPS style Fallout 4 gameplay, since it's pretty similar.

@@KILLERKID0605 I agree the exploration part kinda a bit lacking, but I won't say some places aren't interest, because some do imo... some interesting landmarks, abandoned places, few living towns have unique npcs with some side quests to do, some good and some aren't, but I just wished the sequel we'll have more places or even planets to explore.
About enemies, especially human enemies yes I also agree most of them are the same. But a few unique monster enemies do stand out. Same with weapons also feel all the same, but the game also offer five very unique science weapons that I like to use.
Those things aside though, what keep me playing is the story and characters... like some new dialogues pop up if you have do or found certain things before them get mentioned by the npcs, and some npcs do remember things you've done in the past and in other places... it makes me feel like the game has a sense of coherent worlds in it.
But then again, the game still has many flaws and hopefully the sequel would be a massive improvement from the first one.

@@KILLERKID0605 well, I'd say the dlcs especially murder on eradinos added a new region/planet to explore, and peril on gorgon added new quest (obviously) with its detective-like story... oh and the dlcs do increase the level cap, very nice add on if you play on the original version.
Then the dlcs story, well I quite enjoyed them... it's like a nice little detective-like investigation, adding nice numbers of more hours to play the game.
I can't say more about the story, since everyone has their own taste. But what I can say the dlcs don't really add anything special except the story that I quiet enjoyed which also added some new lore for the main story.

I bought it when it came out because it was the opposite of Fallout 76, even when the game has the bones of a Bethesda game. When F76 was announced, they revealed it as a multiplayer live service game. I wanted more of a singleplayer exprience, and I knew Obsidian were good at mirriroring Bethesda's and Bioware's exprierences while adding their own flavor to it (KOTOR II, NW Knights II, FV New Vegas, etc) I know they aren't perfect (Dungeon Seige 3, Alpha Protocol gameplay, etc) and so even though the gameplay overall may not be as good as NV to plenty of people including myself, I do still like the physics and some of the mechaics like time slowdown. I like the persuasian and dialogue system, and the characters, etc. The premise and plot still kept me interested. I think Obsidian are sort of the underdogs of the industry that got put under Microsoft's wing to allow them to grow. I want them to take their time with The Outer Worlds 2, and address the issues that contributed to people calling the game "mid" which is what I hear most of the time whenever I bring this game up.

The gameplay mechanics feel really basic and underdeveloped, and the story and quests aren’t interesting enough to keep me playing. The game just feels really surface level to me. It’s like a proof of concept game. The reception that Starfield got may mean that more eyes will be on the sequel to this game though, so let’s hope that they execute the sequel well. Regarding the game I've always been thinking of giving it a try but honestly I'm just so worn out when it comes to these Bethesda era Fallout esque games. I couldn't bring myself to play Starfield and I played like 5 hours of Fallout 4 before I turned it off and never played it again. The last game like this I enjoyed was New Vegas and I dumped hundreds of hours into that game but I feel like New Vegas was the peak of this genre and everything after it is just lacking. I wish they would go back and create more Isometric Fallout games I love 1&2 they are still my favorites I was interested in The Outer Worlds just because of the OG fallout creator's involvement but looking at it and it's really just another Bethesda Fallout type game there is probably a heavier emphasis on story telling but I just really don't want to subject myself to these games and the obsession with incessant looting and hoarding.

Good game but way too short. If the core game was gonna be so short they shouldve just gave each company you work for have repeatable missions on each planet. Say for instance on the first planet when you help the marshal hunt down those 3 bandits. Why not keep having you kill random bad guys? Or if you work for Sublight Salvage have you take on repeatable missions hauling frieght or something? I like the game a lot but the lack of much to do keeps me from repeatable playthroughs and/or jumping back in to replay it.

    • @CaptainEffort

You’re not meant to play forever, that’s why there’s a definitive end to the story. Where this game shines is in repeat playthroughs, there’s loads of stuff you’ll never see if you only go through it once.
You should try messing with different dialogue options, maybe kill important NPC’s and see what happens. Hell, you could even turn in the scientist who saves you and see what happens. This game isn’t very wide, but is deceptively deep.

I want to live in the universe this game is made in. I live for this game. I will not sleep until the 2nd game is released. I, and I mean this extremely, more extreme than killing a manti-queen on supernova, I *LOVE* THIS GAME. There is nothing that will make me hate this game, I love the lore, I love exploring, I am trying the Gorgon DLC. If it’s boring for you? Too bad, you don’t understand what this holds for you. Anyways, are you interested in buying some Spacer’s Choice Manti-floss? It cleans it better than that SAM robot “cleaning” the Board.

So I shouldn’t get the spacers choice series x/s version with all the dlc? Just get the original Xbox one version with no dlc?

Playing it compare to Starfield and it’s definitely better.
Better looking, it runs better (I’m playing the original version)
Setting is better and the game hooks in right in and doesn’t waste time like Starfield with its boring ass introduction.
