$449 USD? Currently in the U.S. for $358 you can get TWO Aer Pro Pack 20L. With the $91 savings, you could buy a nice sling. I could argue those AER bag(s!) are better designed. The major features that are different are the missing attachment points and the fabrics.
Yeah, I missed the price when o started the video and got to the end thinking “that’s a pretty sick EDC bag”. $449… nope. I may as well get something else
Great stuff mate, love your work and review. You stay true to yourself and more importantly to the audiences. I am a owner of few few peak design bags and lately I was looking a work bag. Based on my own experiences with their bags they are pretty good in terms of functionality and on top of that they look good, so I decided to go with their everyday backpack V2. I noticed you mentioned in you review that the everyday V2 shoulder straps are not very comfortable. And well I didn’t listen and thought they can’t be that bad and all other reviewers were saying they are sooooo comfy and love them. I have peak design travel backpack 45l and I know when it gets very heavy the shoulder straps can be uncomfortable. But for work I assumed the everyday backpack should do just fine. Man I was wrong. Even just with a 13 inch laptop in the bag and no other heavy stuff inside, my shoulder feels painful after 5mins. So I decided to return it and go with the Able carry Max EDC based on you recommendation 😊. I appreciate that you say thing that you don’t like about a product, which is very valuable to us as an viewer. Everyone has different preferences and you opinion helps to form a better understanding of the product. Please keep it that way. hope one day you will become the MKBHD in everyday carry circle ❤. All the best to you and the team❤
The price is insane. What's even crazier is that the rennen is their cheapest backpack, and then they go and make a pro version that's their most expensive? Makes no marketing sense. Plus, I can't imagine spending $200+ on a bag with a black lining. It's looks like a solid bag but they majorly missed some important marks here.
I don't think black lining should dictate the price, as the cost of the lining is why the bag should be more expensive, not the color. This lining was super luxurious and I can guarantee its not cheap. But functionally speaking I do prefer a lighter lining color
Priced higher than the aon 1.0x with x50. 450$ for a vx21 is nuts and it’s still heavy despite using vx21. It’s comparable in weight to my phoenix 2 which is a 26 liter bag made of vx42 The price is definitely because of the modularity which you really have to love to want to purchase this and probably own a lot of the pieces that could possibly attach to it.
Didn't finished the video after seeing some of tbe spec. For that price is it lifetime warranty like Goruck that also has some of their bags demansing high pricing?
I recently got into Boundary Supply with their Errant Sling (thank you for that review btw. Got the tan version and absolutely love it). I kinda agree with everyone else in saying the price is really steep, even compared with the Errant and the Errant Pro. Those are pricey too but I feel like they have some nice QoL design decisions and look unique too. This one looks cool, but the price, feature set and the even the rebrand just leave me scratching my head.
I like the laptop compartment of this bag, with lots of mesh and zippered pockets. It's perfect for keeping tech gear and accessories in one place, just like the Errant and Errant Pro I have . But when I see the price of the new bags released by Boundary, it was time to say goodbye. 🤣
Swing. Miss. $450 USD is an absolutely egregious price; for the size; given the competition; due to the layout; because of the styling. What the hell was Boundary Supply thinking in their brief for this bag?! I would absolutely rather buy two high quality bags from other brands than voluntarily take it in the @ss on this backpack from a price perspective. Also, did I mention how bad it looks?
What would you recommend as a high quality replacement to the Ogio Logan backpacks that all the companies give out? I’ve watched like 20 of your videos in the past 2 days looking for a replacement since mine gave out. Price doesn’t matter.
10:02 Is that a keychain? What a weird spot if it is. Overall, I'm not really liking this bag. For example, I don't like a black interior lining. Thanks to the NN team for the review!
Personally, I don't mind the black hole. As the person whose backpack it is. You'd know exactly where everything is. Most of the time anyway. But for a thief, it would be much harder to find your valuable accessories. Having hidden pockets in a black hole would be even more genius. I feel that more backpack companies should sell interior coloured options too. For example, when you made the T22, had you sent an email out to every customer that bought the T22 and asked them what changes they would make, then that would be the perfect opportunity to make changes for that specific customer. I know it could get crazy with so many different customers asking for too many different changes, but you could give them an option to change one thing. I'd have said a darker coloured interior. So that it doesn't get dirty easily. I don't see you doing it as it is asking for too much. But I think it would be a clever tactic. Selling the same backpack but some of them having some unique differences about it. The little things like hand stitching your initials on the shoulder straps
love the idea to offer custom changes on a customer-by-customer basis but unfortunately its impossible unless you are a huge company who has the scale and resources to handle that, and even then most don't because its so expensive and complex
The $450 pricepoint feels like we're paying for the R&D/innovation in the bag than the materials (the stretchy water bottle holders and internal pockets aren't gonna hold up for 5-7 years). I can't say much about business/techbros general aesthetics but this bag looks like a more expensive school bag with those 2 external water bottle holders and shape of it. Between this and that french bag you reviewed, i would rather buy the latter than this because 'american bag aesthetics' are everywhere but 'european bag aesthetics' are great to look at even after 10 years Edit: spelling
yes and no! so the idea was similar in that two bags could combine into one, but our goal for the Fyro implementation was going to be very different. The goal would have been for a smaller 2L sling to connect via zipper or magnet in a very clean way to the outside of a 20L backpack. Therefore giving you quick access to your smaller bits of gear on the sling while its attached to the backpack and in a way where the bags seamlessly connect to each other. But then again, we 100% failed trying to make this work, so its significantly easier said than done!

I'd rather clamshell on the main compartment than on the laptop section. If you air travel they often force you to remove the laptop anyway (except maybe in the US domestic). I don't understand why they maintained the black interior lining. We're not in the 1990s anymore :)
Does it come with a human to carry it for you for that price? Seems like they're relying on their brand to justify everything although its a pretty standard bag - I'm not seeing many features that stand out. Compared to the Alpaka Backpack Pro X-Pac is it really that much better?
I'm sure the R&D that went into their laptop closure system wasn't cheap, and the interior fabrics are super nice and I haven't seen them before, so maybe they are insanely expensive.... can't say for sure
@@Nomads.Nation Yeah, aside from some of the materials I don't think it comes together to become an elite backpack. There's flaws for sure with the final result
I'm usually the one defending bags at higher price-points, but this just doesn't add up. The pitch black lining makes it clear that Boundary Supply have actually lost their minds with this bag. I paid about that much for a completely custom-made bag with even more premium materials (Ultra). Also top-loading EDC bags that don't even attempt to stand up by themselves should not be a thing.
Only thing that excited me about this review was seeing that you had a CTB20. Is a review coming up? This thing costs twice the price of a Whitley, which I find to be a better bag (materials, weight, functionality).
I love their errant pro as my current daily, but this pricing is absurd. Their regular 22L Rennen x-pac is only $174. You could literally buy two of those and still have $100 left over. That might be the best laptop guard solution I've seen yet. I like that you can adjust the position, it feels modern and innovative. Of course you could go the easier route and go full velcro like a minaal and many others. Not a big fan of that. Reminds me of those velcro waist straps. Black ember citadel has that embedded magnet, but that's in a fixed position and starts to lose its functionality pretty quickly if you dont have the right sized laptop, especially in the smaller 20L. The errant has a magnetic fidlock style buckle, but I doubt it really adds any protection and it's kind of a hassle to unbuckle everyday. And then there's the full zippered Gorucks that have their own level of inconvenience.
It's also solving a problem that they created by having the laptop sleeve open clamshell. I personally don't want a bunch of pointy chargers and tech items pressing directly into my laptop when the bag is packed out, but I guess the laptop sleeve is sufficiently padded (which leads to high weight of this bag).
Boundary supply makes good bags , I own many of them , but , their customer service and shipping department are terrible ! Can get any help or service !
BS has lost their dam minds with that pricing. $450 for a 20l VX21 pack is beyond delusional. Also, the vx is NOT a material id feel comfortable wearing in an office that’s even remotely professional. And they’re high on their own supply (no pun intended) with that locking thing in the laptop compartment. They’ve been marketing that hard and I guarantee no one cares. Finally, that stasis thing is just stupid and looks HORRIBLE. Bizarre all around.
Team No Sternum Strap! Unless it is a legit outdoor bag and I am literally doing outdoor things (like hiking with a Camelbak). I avoid all potential sources of dangles on an edc or travel bag like the plague.
No it’s not worth more than any bag made by Tortuga or Tom Bihn. No way it’s worth the money. Hell you can get a Tumi on EBay for less. Tumi everyday carry bags are in a class of their own. I have an Alpha Bravo bag that I’ve had at least 12 years, with minimal signs of wear. I got that bag for 350.
I gave you thumbs up for your video but a MAJOR Thumbs DOWN to the pricing of this backpack. Boundary Supply you really smoked a lot of the sticky green shyte this time and hope you do realize you aren't Triple Aught Design or TUMI. $450 for a 20 liter is absolutely wild, bad bag for price and COST no matter who you are, but great video us usual
