Dragon's Lair X Replicade Overhaul Edition Review! Best At Home Experience? After missing out on the initial New Wave Toys Dragon's Lair cabinet I was thrilled that they would be re-releasing it with the overhaul edition. This 1/6th scale arcade is a stunning replica of the original Dragon's Lair arcade with machine with no tiny detail left unnoticed. With the cabinet's micro size would the gameplay experience be hindered or is it the best way to play Dragon's Lair outside of playing it on the original arcade?

Great review Mike! Glad you were able to get your hands on one. NWT does such an excellent job on these. I have had the Dragon’s Lair since it’s first run, and aside from the color of the laser disc player it seems to be the same as this Overhaul edition. Do you have any others you’d like to do a review for? Also, any chance of bringing back some of your old stuff, such as re-reviews of NES games and all?
Thank you! I still do NES and retro gaming videos from time to time but it all depends on if I find something interesting I want to talk about. I actually also have the Food Fight and 1942 cabs sitting in boxes waiting to be filmed.
I agree that the Replicade, even at small scale, is the next best thing to the original arcade-in fact it might be better than the original since you can plug in a different controller and show it on a better screen and the Daphne emulator is faster and more reliable than any physical disc player ever could be.
The only thing I would trade mine for would be an original full-sized cab, but even then I would only do it because I would feel obligated and as soon as I figured out how to get it in my house, I would start seeing what kind of price I could get for a replacement Replicade.
I specifically held off on getting the A1U 3/4 scale in hope of getting the Replicade because I knew that even if I could play more games on a cab that was closer to the size of the original-or even if I had an original full sized cab…I would still want the miniature version that I can take anywhere.
Yeah when you start playing with it you can tell the night and day difference compared to other versions. Glad you feel the same way

I really love the look of Replicades but I have a hard time justifying getting into another line of arcade machines in addition to what I already have, especially when I’d be buying duplicates of machines I sometimes already own, just at a different scale. I’m sure everyone here understands wanting both but that would sound insane to just about anyone outside of our community.
With Dragon’s Lair in particular, I have more nostalgic memories related to the appearance of the cab, it’s attract mode, and wathing other people play, so I don’t mind using non-traditional controls in exchange for the more accurate replica (and lower price).
Because of the nature of the gameplay in Dragon’s Lair, I feel like having arcade scale controls is not as important as lag-free controls and authentic ROM
Do they make replicades that are 1:1? Or do you pretty much have to find an original for sale somewhere?

1/6 of each dimension translates to 1/216 size by volume (6X6X6). That's false advertising for sure.
It's unfortunate that your review came out AFTER New Wave Toys sold out of these because your viewers should know this thing is full of bugs. The original X Replicade Dragon's Lair plays a lot better than the Overhaul Edition. I'm very suspicious that this machine is NOT running the arcade ROMs on Daphne as New Wave Toys claims. If you can afford it, the Arcade 1Up cabinet is a better way to get the true Dragon's Lair experience (as far as the audio sync issues, I only noticed that twice on the Arcade 1Up machine.) If you can overlook those 2 spots in the game, playing on a 3/4 scale cabinet will give you a better feel of nostalgia. Yeah, the X Replicade is beautiful to look at, but for a better Dragon's Lair experience, Arcade 1Up has a slight edge.
This thing is not full of bugs. You just don't know what you're talking about. I own both the original X Replicade Dragon's Lair and the newer Overhaul Edition and have played them both extensively. They both play exactly the same and they both play just like the arcade version. I've already proven you wrong in the comments sections of several videos about this product. You've mentioned under several videos that you're a "Dragon's Lair Expert".....and then proceed to get even the most basic information about the game wrong. Either that....or you're lying on purpose.

I’m sorry man, I have always struggled with getting my audio right and no matter what Mic I buy I still can’t seem to figure it out
@@MichaelBtheGameGenie always record on the low side, you can always make it louder later and add some compression if needed.
