Another Wisconsinite here! Thought I recognized that accent😉😂😂😂 Just stumbled on your podcast😊 and I'm so happy I did! Just learned to knit socks about 2 years ago and have become obsessed!!! They are THE best for our frigid WI winters❤️❤️. I also started the tradition of gifting them to my adult daughters for Christmas - this will be the 3rd year😊 And they always end up sending me pics of themselves wearing them & saying how much they love them!!! Thanks for taking the time to share your knitting!!

Hello from the Fox Valley. Loved seeing all the socks. I hope your garden is still doing well. We lost what was left of our garden last week due to flooding. We received more rain today and are under flood warnings...sigh. Hope you are surviving the heat.

Just discovered you and greatly enjoy seeing all your socks. I, too, am a first year Summer Sock Camper and having loads of fun knitting through stash sock yarns and using up bits and bobs to make scrappy socks. About your shorties that have the different ribbing sequence from cuff to foot: just tell yourself "It's a FEATURE, not a bug!" 🙂

Hello from central Wisconsin. I am finishing a pair of socks. I only have the kitchener stitch to do on both.

You can take the heels and toes out and just add afterthought heels and toes with a nylon, silk or mohair added to the yarn. If using a no nylon sock yarn, just pick up a strand of mohair to work in with your socks.

Not a bad idea. Afterthought heels don’t fit me very well but I’m sure there is something I can do.

Thanks for sharing. I am new to sock knitting and have been wondering how they will wear. Guess mending will be on the things to learn in the future.

They are cozy, it can depend on a lot of factors, the yarn blend, how tight you knit, how much you wear them. Etc.

Just another thought, size down to a smaller needle for knitting your socks. The more dense the fabric, the less possibility of getting holes. I use exclusively 1.5, 1.75 and 2.0 mm needles, have never gotten any holes in to 20+ years that I have been knitting socks. I have knitted hundreds of socks over the years.

Hello from Northern Wisconsin! Thought I recognized that gray sky! 😂😂 I just found your podcast and will have to go catch your 2 previous ones as well. Just wanted to say that there definitely are patterns for worsted weight socks and they make lovely boot socks for those of us up here in the cold! 😉 I make each of my family (7 children + hubby) a pair for Christmas every year. They are very long wearing despite not having any nylon. I have been making them for more than 10 years and the first ones are just getting holes. I also think starting with worsted is a great way to learn to do socks - so much less fiddly than fingering weight - just my 2 cents. Anyway, one of my favorite worsted weight patterns is Winter Socks for the Family by McGehee Textiles. Happy knitting!! 🥰

Yes I will probably be making more worsted weight socks. Thanks so much for watching! Yes it gets cold here in Wisconsin we need are warm socks 🥰

Curious bc I love them, for the knee high socks when do you start decreasing from 80st down to 64 and at what intervals? I’d love to make those! Yours are amazing! Thanks!

Good question. I will talk more about it hopefully in the next podcast. Hopefully I’ll have them finished before then. I know I did decreases I’m going to have to look and see if I made any notes on it.

Hand knit socks have to be repaired too much work in them to even think of throwing them out,but then I don’t mind repairing socks even bought ones. I made a pair that was too short in the foot just unpicked the toe and reknitted a new toe in a different yarn, the only person who sees the toe of your socks is you so go fix that pair that you like.

    • @KatieBugKnits
