Oh my, the first half of 2024 has been full of both challenges and good times for both of you. So sorry about your injury and the fire, Petra, and about being laid off, Natasha. You both have great attitudes about the losses and an appreciation for being healthy. The cruise sounds amazing (better than mine to Alaska-currently home and grounded with COVID which I got on the ship 😒. Love your blue sweater, Natasha. The colour is amazing. The blanket turned out really well. I want to try that No Purl Knit blanket pattern. I love how you knit the colours- looks like patchwork but without all the sewing of seams. Great to see your summer knits that have stood the test of time. I can’t seem to wear white for 10 minutes without getting a stain. Lol! Matteo is so cute and getting so grown up! A toddler now! 🤭That shawl is beautiful and the kit comes with quite the memory. How wonderful that your friend could wash the yarn and your local shop wound your yarn,Good to see you have been able to get back to knitting. I did lots of garter knitting when I was reviewing from thumb joint replacement as I couldn’t manage purling-us knitters will find a way! 🤗 I am knitting the Turtle Dove Cardigan for my daughter for her 50th in August and bought her some buttons and a clip in Alaskan yarn shops for her to choose to provide a way to close the sweater at the front. Also. Bought some fluffed up merino yarn hand died in Ketchikan and my math was off like yours was in Iceland, Petra, so it will be an expensive sweater-yikes! That octopus is going to be adorable! So is that romper-looks like a little circus tent. And that thrift store sweater-so good!

Oh my… great advice and lots of news. I broke my shoulder last year and recovered in my recliner knitting away on my daily pullover. Lucky for me I had gotten to the knit knit knit part and knitting in the round saved my sanity. I’ve just moved into a new house and unpacking all my I beautiful things that had been in storage for 6 months. Bringing me JOY sending joy to you both!

We had a wall fire from our woodstove back in Feb of 2020 right before Covid. It damaged part of the roof in out great room. We had 150k in Reno’s from the water damage. They blasted a small fire with a massive amount of water and it destroyed the room and the basement below. Thank god we were home or it would have burned down the house with our dogs inside. 8-(. Also I made my husband a sweater out of the “seaweed eating” sheep wool. Soooo soft. Glad you two are doing well!!!!

Thank you for sharing your experiences this year. I am very relieved everyone in your family is ok. I especially love your reminder at the very end to "use all your beautiful things! ". Up until this summer I have not made very many summer knits, but I am deliberately now doing at least two projects per summer so that eventually I can wear my 'favorites' year-round. (It's sometimes a long hard wait until the weather cools to pull out the fall/winter knit favorites... and I want to keep that feeling going of using the beautiful -at least to me - knits ALL year round. Happy summer mojo knitting!

I am so glad to see you back! I checked all the time. Course, we only think the worst. A broken shoulder and house burning is pretty bad. Glad to see you have a great attitude about it all. Our house was struck by lightning in 2008 and burnt in much the same way. Tore the whole thing down and rebuilt. Now you can make those improvements you always wanted! Everything new! It's a pain but we said it was the best thing that ever happened. We had an awesome restoration company. If you don't know where your stuff is, it's in some ozone chamber somewhere and will come back with the oddest non-smell. Good luck. It will pass. My husband and I love to watch you.❤

You’ve been on quite the roller coaster this last 6 months and my heart is full of admiration and loving respect for your attitude of resilience and determination to find your way past the hardship and bring joy back to your lives. The loss is enormous but your laughter is reassuring and you have purposeful energy to keep positive and healing. Thank you for being a voice for all of us as a lesson in life. Much love ❤️ to you all.

I so relate to what you are feeling. After we retired we sold our home and were living full time in our 43ft motorhome and traveling across the country. Everything we owned was with us. Our motorhome burned to the ground a year ago when we were in NM. We lost everything. I had thousands of $ worth of yarn in bins and all my hand knits. I didn’t even have shoes on my feet. It is surreal to see all your stuff burn. We still have dreams of the fire many nights a week a year later. So yes….cherish and use your beautiful things as well as carpe diem. Happy to see you are safe and to see you both back.

First of all, yes, use the good dishes. Great to see you guys, as always. Petra, I am interested in the cruise that you took. Can you say what cruise line it was? After the cruise with A & C that I took in March 2023, I am sold on smaller ships. (btw, I took the A & C cruise because of you guys) I look forward to seeing the crocheted sweater when it is finished. I thought that you were purposely adding fringe on the shawl that you are finishing up. I look forward to seeing it finished as well. Best of good fortune for the rest of the year. I love the Agave pattern. I have it favourited on Ravelry Beth MacDonald Stone of Designing from the Rock or Knitting from the Rock podcast made it with less positive ease and no sleeves and it looks amazing.
