    Great tutorial! I see this is a little dated by the time I seen it. Do you still use this script? I know now there is the OVR and Twik. Do you use them all or do they conflict with each other? My 3060TI rocks in 2D, but VR I feel sucks! The immersion is great, but the clarity has a LONG way to go IMO.

    This setup is amazing! Running ultra smooth with Ocolus Quest via Virtual Desktop. Im having a i6500, gtx1070 and 16gb ram. Never thought i would get such a high fpm. I even get 50. Maybe with some tweaking i can get more. Thanks!!!

      nice, im in the process of setting my quest up. What super sampling did oyu go with? I have a gtx1060 with a Ryzen5 2500. 16ram. having some issues with getting into xplane vr..sometimes it works and sometimes its hard. I also use Virtual desktop. What is your process to launching xplane?
      Thanks

    • @Visser2800
      @Visser2800 5 років тому

      @@robertodebandito6809 , first I must say that the effect of the Oculus Tray Tool doesn’t work with the Quest. So, supersampling and asw will not have any effect unfortunately. You can still supersample in SteamVr if you like. I still have to experiment with that myself. You will get the most effect with the 3jfps tool in xplane itself. Instead of limiting the frame rate to 45 and 46 as in the the video, set it up to 70. It might be that you won’t get as high because it depends on your pc hardware, CPU and GPU. But this tool can crank your fps up. Then you have to play with the settings in xplane, like explained in the video. To view in vr, you first start up virtual desktop. Then open xplane from steam vr or directly from the exe file in your stream apps folder. Once xplane is running you have to select vr mode in xplane. First you will see the movement of your head in 2d desktop mode on your computer screen and headset. Then go to the virtual desktop menu and select , “ see in vr” or “open vr” or something like that and you will have full vr view in your headset. Also make sure you use the wifi router in 5GHz if your router can send at this frequency.

      @robertodebandito6809 5 років тому +1

      @@Visser2800 thanks for the detailed reply. I spent most of today doing test and it only made it worse. So maybe i will try the higher fps. I wish i could get clearer text int eh cockpit. But i fear that is not possible. Yes my router is only 2.4ghz...I will try the settings within steam vr. I also received a (known to work) anker cable to have the quest wired to pc, but when i select ok first the first pop up window once i plug the headset in i get the loading orbs and it never goes away. have to do some more testing. wondering if i should of got the rift s vs the quest...

    • @Visser2800
      @Visser2800 5 років тому +1

      @@robertodebandito6809 , sorry to hear that your fps got worse. I get 45 to 55 fps depending on the airport and aircraft I choose. Not huge, but playable. Small airports are better though. Logic, because there is less to render. Set world objects to low. That helps a lot.
      I’m not sure, but I think your 1060 isn’t strong enough for Link, with the cable. You should check the minimum requirements for Link. I thought it required at least a 1070.
      Virtual desktop also compresses the images, so it outputs less details. The instruments on xplane are really small. I also can’t read them very well from the normal seating position. Sometimes you have to lean over to check the numbers. Try an airplane with big gauges. Did you already try alvr? This can output more resolution then virtual desktop.
      Maybe you will have to invest in a new gpu. Now people sell there old 1080 for reasonable prices second hand. And you really need a router with 5GHz.
      I haven’t used the rift s, so I cant really compare. But I assume with your setup, it would have been a better choice. You loose portability though. Maybe you can still exchange it?
      All in all, xplane isn’t the most ideal program for vr. It is very demanding and from what i read, it uses 1 core from your cpu, even if you have multicores. So a single core 4GHz cpu will work better than a 3,5 GHz multicore.
      Yes, I know. Xplane will never be straight forward with its vr setup. There are too many parameters that will change every new flight you choose. Tweaking it every new flight is the message.
      I hope you sort it out somehow. Good luck

    • @RavenSimulations

      To see buttons and text that can be hard to read, you can use the zoom in button which I believe is the X button on the touch controllers which will zoom in to see better

    Great video. Can’t wait to try this stuff out. I see you use the controllers to manipulate the yoke. When I do this the yoke jumps around, jittery. Also do you use the controllers to adjust radio frequencies etc.....dial ? I find them to be very sensitive. When I release the trigger the frequency jumps up or down. I am looking for a way to adjust the sensitivity. I’ll check out your other stuff too. Thanks again

      yeah they are a bit touchy. I just got use to all of it over time. But... there is no flight sim I have found where every dial and every switch works. It's an amazing feat imo. My next video I have planned when I finally get time will be showing my setup and how I fly from hardware and where I sit to how my pc is setup even for streaming X-Plane VR. I think for some this may be helpful. Thanks for watching!

    I assume if you have a yoke and throttle quadrant, you could put the hand controllers down and use the yoke and throttle instead? Once you get going with the flight. Also, can you start in VR with engines already running?

    • @RavenSimulations
      @RavenSimulations  4 роки тому

      Yes you can start x-plane with engines running. Putting down the controllers makes it so you cannot press any buttons in the cockpit. So having to pick it back up to manipulate things in the cockpit is key

      As in what all the buttons do in each plane. since a lot of the planes I fly are 3rd party there is no tutorial, but some come with directions, and some of the buttons/dials/switches are the same across real planes they just usually arnt in the same spot in each plane. I learn how to fly them by watching real pilots of these planes/research

    Very good video, excellent. This has come at just the right time for me as I have an almost identical system with a Rift S, even the same graphics card. I only started to try VR yesterday so this tutorial is really helpful.
    Just a couple of quick questions. I notice you manage to adjust instruments, knobs and switches using the Rift controllers. I cannot seem to manage that at all. I get the green laser pointer thing but thats all, it doesn't seem to activate any controls. I have resorted to using mouse (trackball) control for now. I also have a joystick (VKB) which I have been using for pitch,roll and throttle with rudder pedals for yaw. I would like to stop the Rift controllers trying to control the yoke but still have them controlling switches etc. Thats if I can work out how to get that working as mentioned above. I notice you use the Rift controllers to fly with. Do you find in better, more realistic than using a stick or yoke?
    What I will find very useful is the ability to go between VR and 2D screen for those occasions when you have a long flight. VR is most useful in the beginning and end phases whereas a 2d monitor lets you monitor and control a long flight as well as do other things.
    Subscribed. Will now go and watch your other videos. I look forward to more like this in the future.
