I don't remember what traveling is like without all the bulky extras...lumbar support, memory foam SI joint cushion, gluten free snacks (celiac), meds, heating pads, braces, etc. Imagine just tossing clothes into a bag and not worrying about pain, sickness and discomfort! Traveling ALWAYS causes me a great deal of pain, leaving me in tears and desperate for relief. It's no longer worth traveling for short periods of time. We now live more in Croatia than we do in Canada but to get here is a nightmare. We come 12-17 months at a time and take short easy trips within Europe. Before leaving Canada or Croatia, I get cortisone shots to enable me to sit and get wheelchair assistance at airports. I must have a bulkhead seat on flights and book massages on layovers. The things we do for travel!! Yet we need to live and thrive, right? I feel much better mentally in Croatia so really feel the need to be here. The climate is much nicer, too, which is helpful for fibromyalgia, Raynaud's, connective tissue disease, degenerative disc disease, and so on. On paper travel isn't possible for me. But I push and push myself and consider myself blessed. Thank you for always addressing relevant topics in practical ways. Much appreciated. Really looking forward to more about your trip! Reluctance to travel due to chronic illnesses and pain is absolutely understandable. I freeze in horror each and every time I fly as I often have a new illness to contend with. But if we travel in spite of these things, we are rewarded and enriched. The agonies of physical travel are extremely hard. Recovery can take awhile. But the thought of new cultures, foods, history, nature, language, architecture and other experiences are superb motivators. I'd rather be in pain from doing something I love than from lying around and moping. Was just diagnosed with severe frozen shoulder, one of the most debilitating conditions of my life. Not easy to manage on top of everything else. But my surroundings couldn't be more beautiful. It would have happened whilst in Canada or here in Croatia or another country. Thank you for being so real and encouraging. You live life in spite of your pain. Good for you. 😊

When my son had his car accident he had so much nausea and the NG tube didn’t help. His nurse brought those alcohol swabs in and it really helped him. Thank you for sharing. I get so stressed when traveling because I never know how I’m going to feel and so many things are out of my control… like flights being delayed etc..
You have been through so much with your son's accident! It's good to hear that the alcohol swabs provided some relief from the nausea. Nurses often have such helpful, practical advice. Travelling can definitely amplify stress, especially when you're worried about how you'll feel and dealing with the unpredictability of things like flight delays. It's completely understandable to feel anxious about those out-of-control elements. Maybe creating a small travel kit with some essentials that help ease your stress could be useful? Things like your favourite tea, essential oils, a good book, or anything that might make waiting or delays more bearable could be included. Having a plan for what to do when things go awry helps you feel more in control and less stressed. It's important to talk about these challenges because it helps others realize they're not alone in their struggles. Take care and safe travels!

He’s still talking medication for a blood clot he developed in his lung after having so many surgeries. I had no idea he’d have to take that med for so long…. 6 months to a year. The great news he’s back at work and living his life. Looking forward to watching your Thailand videos. 🌷🌷🌷

I’m not joking but my medication kit is bigger than my clothing/makeup kit sometimes. Migraine meds, pain meds, nausea meds, etc. I also bring electrolyte powder, gluten free snacks, eye masks, earplugs, sound machine and a neck pillow. It’s enough to make me not to want to travel.
I know right!? No wonder my bag is so much heavier than my husband’s. But I have learned to accept that and I love traveling so much that I am more than willing to pay that price. But because we travel carry-on only that means I have to take less clothes and no hair styling tools and basically no shoes. Ohhh!! The sacrifices I have to make.
