This resonated with me a lot. Grew up with half of my family from the Orthodox Jewish tradition. I identify as an atheist and have done so since my late teens.
HOWEVER since getting clean through a 12 step program I now use a higher power everyday. I even pray. And yet I don't believe in a God. My higher power is the fellowship and my support network and so with this framework I can avoid toxic spiritual beliefs such as the ones you listed. I appreciate the 12 step program and the people I know in the fellowship because nobody is denying the pain that comes from suffering, grief, loss etc. And we all share our "negative" emotions openly (:
Thank you for your perspective. I hope you get well soon and please don't stop posting!

@@ComplexPtsdRecovery glad to see you healthier now! Just want to let you know that, personally, I think this video is the most important. We all LIE to ourselves, yet it's SO DIFFICULT to understand how we do this. It took me MANY years to acknowledge the phenomenon - yet I had already swept religion out of my life. Spirituality is a mind trap, just a different Delusion. Unless people can take charge of their own thought processes, they will remain forevermore trapped. Stay Healthy. Love your Theory on the "Chosen One." Welcome back 🤩

I left the church when 22.
As far as I'm concerned, my
    parents were Delusional
Christians. Psychology has given me what religion took from me.

Have you tried Wim Hoff breathing techniques and then cold showers, I don't do the exact thing I take longer breaths because of asthma and sinus problems they both improved with this, stopped doing and went downhill again easier to do when it's warmer I'm from south of Sydney, I also suffer from really dry skin, we are all on this journey called life in my sixties now and the best advice I've found is to truly know yourself become your own master our purpose here on earth is to evolve its part of process of evolution, if you're open to new ideas have a listen to Aaron Abke, A course in miracles, and the law of one series, hope you're feeling better all the best Jeff

Thanks for your kind words Jeff. I was originally from Sydney too. Moved to Brissy a few decades ago now and don't miss the cold down there!

I use Wim Hof frequently. I skip the cold showers, but LOTS of UA-cam viewers do it all.

I don't agree with this at all, and it's timely I came across this as Australia is the first Western country to use psychedelics to treat depression.
Also degenerating the use of a guru, saint or teacher is a very grey zone, some people and cultures rely heavily on such characters. Would you tell someone not to listen to their therapist? Or take what their therapist says and make it their own? Many schizophrenics decide their psychiatrist is wrong and stop medicating as an example. Are you saying this is a good choice? They're taking their future into their own hands after all and making choices for themselves.
Many people use prayer and meditation to help themselves heal from all sorts of issues in their life.
Sometimes it's best to give the information without your opinion.

You are absolutely more than welcome not to agree. I apologise if it seems I've not encouraged people to own their spirituality and to listen to those with more wisdom than they have. In America the things I spoke on are more predominant than in Australia, and most of my clients are from America. I encourage everyone to seek their own spiritual journey. The things I spoke on are common ways people are ignored in spiritual circles when they have a genuine need for help. Please feel completely welcome not to follow along, especially if my personal opinion is upsetting you. with care, Linda
