Hello. I have an Asus X542UQ laptop with an i3-7100 processor and a 940MX 2GB graphics card. I saw on Aliexpress a motherboard with an i7-8550U processor and an MX150 4GB graphics card. Can I replace the motherboard and install the new one?
Once I done this to another Asus model. It's works fine and 100% fit into well. Also I searched for it this model. Ports holes are ok. Connectors are same. There's a possibility that will compatible with your model. Thank you.

M.2 SATA, also you can use NVME. It's better than M.2 SATA

Have you tried with another battery, Maybe battery is dead.
What type of ssd is compatible for that unit?

I think main battery also act as CMOS battery.
