You lifesavers!!! I just managed to replace my keyboard and save my laptop, just by following your video. I am a 52-year-old woman with no technical training and no experience in taking electronics apart. Thank you so, so very much! And I only just saw that you are based in Munich, my home town (although I‘ve lived abroad for over 25 years now). Servus und dankschee!
Hi man thanks for the video. when i removed my old keyboard i threw all this little rivets/plastics that hold the keyboard up... and now my new keyboard is very down and i cant type in my new keyboard... which rivets/plastics you used and how i can find it (do you have any name... link for ali/ebay... etc.. something...) thanks a lot man!
thank you for this - I used it to change the keyboard case, only issue is now the headphone socket no longer works or is recognised, I've checked the cables etc and everything looks good, also I changed the speakers and only hte left one works now, any thoughts what that could be ? thank you!
Great video, can you please tell me where the geforce gtx 960M graphic card is located? I presume it is soldered on to the motherboard and cannot be upgraded? Many thanks!
Really a great tutorial, thanks! By the way, after cutting the plastic pins, what did you put on them with the soldering iron to fix the keyboard again?
Hi, what a great tutorial! In order to replace my rattling GPU fan, I wonder what for that silver strap at the GPU fan is? May I just gently peel it off the old one and put it back on a new one?
To replace a screen for this model, do you have to disassemble the entire computer or is it possible to only use the front panel? Thank you (nice work)
Thanks for the excellent tutorial. I have lost confidence in Asus because of the poor engineering. I had some keys that needed to be pressed several times to work and tried cleaning them, thinking they were sticking. Later, I found the issue was a software problem, which I fixed in the registry. When I removed the problematic keys, the retaining pins broke, due to becoming brittle, hence the need to replace the keyboard. Sigh!

Great tutorial. Is the replacement keyboard from Asus or generic brand? If it's not from Asus, is it as good as the original one? I'm looking to buy a replacement but only generic brands are available here in India and I'm quite doubtful about their quality. Would you recommend those Chinese brands?
Great video! You're very good. Trying to troubleshoot my father's UX510U The symptom is that after my dad (a senior) dropped the laptop, all the keyboard keys need to be pressed very hard and/or wiggled (while pressed) in order to activate (type). Do you happen to know if this is worthy of a keyboard replacement or can you recommend another possibility?
@@Testify266 I did fix it. I didn't have to replace the kbd. If it had been the case, I would have sold it for parts. It's very complicated to replace. I opened the laptop as per the instructions, removed (disconnected/reconnected) all the components as shown in the video. I didn't remove the kbd... I stopped short of this :) I then re-assembled it and luckily... it worked. I have a feeling it was a slightly dislodged or "corroded" ribbon cable. but who knows. I rubbed the ribbon cable with an eraser to ensure it was clean and free of any residue. I hope this helps you or anyone else :)
Hi, is there an empty RAM slot on this model? I think it should be located inside the grey square under the big copper stripe, can anyone confirm that? My hdd is broken and I need to replace it, and so I think it could be a good occasion to increase my RAM.

I did the replacement and it worked out fine! It was a little different then in this video but I figured it out. I used hot glue to fix the keyboard but this was a little tricky, as it is difficult to apply just a little drop of glue. This video in any case encouraged me to try it out and it worked fine. Thanks!
In order to take the keyboard out, one has o disassemble everything and change even the thermal paste. If so, this new "fancy" design of modern laptops is not too smart.
i don't think they *had* to take the heatsink off the motherboard... I'm poking around a ux330u and it came apart without undoing the thermal paste. It's ram is soldered on board though...
yes asus keyboards fail frequently and this is what you go through to change them. stay away from asus entirely. Always find equipment that's easy to get replacements done on like lenovo or dell. it's not worth the f*cking headache to invest in equipment that require this sort of effort to replace something that fails often and is this hard to replace. I unfortunately own this model laptop. Not wasting time in future with equipment that requires crazy effort to do something which should be simple.
i know right ! I bought a vivobook laptop from asus since so many people in my university had it I thought it was the best option if you can't afford a Surface or a Macbook. Worst decision ever, all the main left keys are blocked : Fn, Ctl, and Windows, it's a nightmare cause they affect all the other keys, they block randomly so I find myself not able to type anything during lectures. Plus, the turnaround/tablet functionality broke, such a scam
