That was what I was going to comment. Pay them less, the worse service you'll get. That's basic to human psychology and absolutely the first thing you should know as an owner of a restaurant.
Gordon has a pretty incredible ability. He can walk into these places and almost immediately recognize the issue. He had a problem with the food, but after only a few minutes he immediately recognized the chef wasn’t the main problem.
@@springtime_melody4566 well, let's say you work at a place like McDonalds (nothing wrong with that, it's a honest paying job) you shouldn't be paid $15 a hour. Why? Because it's entry level job that anyone can do, and is not meant to be a career. But, a fine dining Chef. Who makes $400 after taxes? That's mind blowing and. Can't believe the chef dealt with that. You should be paid on skill level, performance, and environment. A 17 year old kid working his first job as a cashier isn't going to make and should not make $500 a week
@@badtrip6507 While I can understand the argument of introductory positions paying little, the problem is that many introductory positions - such as cashiering - are essentially a career position. And with increasing costs of living, it's borderline impossible to live alone off the paychecks that such a position gets - especially as (at least in many places in the states) 'full time' cashiering or such doesn't exist anymore, so more realistic paychecks end up being just 200-300$ a week. Barely enough to cover an average 1000$ a month rent where I live, let alone eat or have a car or anything of the sort.
That chef left if I remember correctly because of them not getting paid, I don't blame them honestly if I had to pay out of my pocket just to get groceries for a business while getting very little pay in return I would of called it quits as well, and when you have your own staff up in your face about wanting to leave because of the lack of pay it becomes a problem and as a result corners end up getting cut that the owner refuses to acknowledge about until someone gets in their face about it, and a lot of the times they try to spin the blame on the chef like what the guy was doing. He was getting called out on the lack of money coming through for his employees so he tried to spin the blame back on the chef by not perfecting the menu, how can a chef perfect a menu without the proper equipment and ingredients, that stuff has to be bought by the owner for the business not the employees.

@@badtrip6507 man the first part of your statement is bullshit seriously
@@badtrip6507 While I can understand the argument of introductory positions paying little, the problem is that many introductory positions - such as cashiering - are essentially a career position. And with increasing costs of living, it's borderline impossible to live alone off the paychecks that such a position gets - especially as (at least in many places in the states) 'full time' cashiering or such doesn't exist anymore, so more realistic paychecks end up being just 200-300$ a week.
