UPDATE!! Stay tuned!! Our forecast for tomorrow, 1/12/21 calls for 4”-8” of rain with 40mph winds. Any guesses on how many more cedars will come down???
Depends on whether power lines are back up in same place - just waiting for cedars. Glad your hitch hitch was minor - and that the tail-dragger log didn’t seem to create anything but a bit of anxiety.
sounds great for lumber generation and snow pack on the mountain... that's about all that's good about that. :( really glad you didn't do any mods to your bumper with that hitch! :)
Awesome video, don't forget only 1 perfect person ever and they nailed him to a cross. Good on you for being honest, and humble. I muck up every day. Stay safe, God bless

It takes a man of integrity to share his mistakes with the public. We all learn from each other, whether it's good or not so good. I hope things begin to dry out after this next big rain.....but it is the upper Northwest and "dry" is hard to come by most of the year. I look forward to more milling as well as progress at your neighbor's home.

I like how you post your mistakes. I try to do the same on my channel. I was always taught to cross the chains so it the trailer comes off the ball while going down the road you have a better chance of catching the tongue and saving the trailer. I enjoy your channel keep up the good videos.
Thank you! In the video that I mentioned didn’t record I actually explained why I didn’t cross the chains which is law here in Oregon. The hitch I was using is for our RV and won’t allow the chains to cross without getting hung up.
Always look forward to your videos and I really like that you don't shy away from your goofs, it's how we learn. Really jealous of your access to such beautiful wood and your sawmill.
Just re-watching this vid - regarding your mistakes comments around the 04:30 mark ... we flipped aroudn the rear wheels on the 1050 not too long after seeing this the first time. Good, I am not alone in doing things like forgetting to latch the hitch. My mistake could have been a lot worse; I usually tow lighter trailers with a 2 inch ball and hitch,..so I hooked up my 17 foot long tandem trailer and went off merrily down the highway, ( empty trailer, thank god! ) totally forgetting that the trailer has a 2 5/16 inch hitch. Nice logs, great lumber,..I waiting for more now. Cheers!
Time for a brush/log grapple? That's high on my priority list but my wife is still reeling from the LT35 purchase last August. I won't terrorize her with more big spending until spring
Bring it on. A lot more nice wood for the mill and eventually the new shop. A question about loading the trailer; wouldn’t your grapple have been the better tool to load the trailer than the pallet forks? I really enjoy your videos. Keep them coming.
Thank you! The problem with the grapple is how heavy it is. It would give me better control possibly but it would greatly limit how much log I could grab.

After you cut those logs and left them lay, I had the feeling someone was going to try to take them. I admire the strong work ethic. Some of those tractor loading shots I bet you had pucker factor going on. Ron
After putting 15,000 miles on towing a trailer, I got more and more careful about avoiding following "weekender" trailer towers like myself. Because there are a handful of things that if forgotten or mishandled can make things really scary really fast. I often drove slower then necessary on the highway to encourage people not to tag on behind me and instead go around, just in case. I use a long-hasped padlock as a hitch latch pin, which has the added benefit of discouraging a casual "practical joke" from some kid in a parking lot or when getting gas. Paranoid? Thanks for sharing your videos and your life honestly. We are practically neighbors, I live in Grants Pass.
Beautiful place, what state are you in? wish we could get some of that rain, we are 10" behind in the Spokane area. I love how you use safety gear on each job.
Thank you! I try to wear the safety gear all the time but if I forget, there’s never a shortage of folks to tell me about it.😬 I’m south of you. About 45 minutes south and east of Portland in a town called Estacada.
A guy came to my house to pick up a tractor I sold. He didn’t have his trailer coupler latched either. When he got on the ramps, the tongue shot up and lurched forwards and went right through the back window of his cap. You loading those logs looked like Farming Simulator 😂
Good reminder to double check when towing. That's a lot of lumber but a lot of milling too. Why didn't you buy the L35APCSS model (Automatic load, position, cut and sticker-stack)? ;-)

Not sure as to the cedar logs. but that rain, strong winds are tough. but yes i do thank you for sharing vid's showing the mishaps, for myself i tend to double check a lot, but still miss it. great video.
You make some good videos. I give you credit for showing a couple of your whoopsies, somebody that never makes a mistake, never tried anything. Wanted to ask you about your trailer ball on back of your back blade, did you custom that or is it store bought. I want to do the same thing on blade I use on my TO-30 Ferguson tractor. Lookin forward to your next video. Have a good one from the Emerald Empire.
I love how you get stuff done. Also love how you show your mistakes. WE ALL make mistakes, those that think they dont are crazy. You need to bring your mill up to me, I made my LT35 into a wide head that cuts 35" now and I love it! Would be glad to help you do yours. Check out the pics I posted on the facebook woodmizer page. I have done 3 mills now, my LT35 and 2 LT40's that I made into adjustable heads. Keep up the awesome work!
Looks like the tractor could use some rear wheel weight. I'd try fluid first if you don't have that already I haven't had a trailer get loose on me, I witnessed a few that did early in my driving days and I gained a healthy respect for doing things right, plus check and double check. What I've found is that people develop routines, and if your routine for hooking up gets interrupted, you miss things ... possibly critical. 15 years of drive away work, no critical misses with hooking up and only one hitch equipment failure. No, my big Bozo was in forgetting to make sure my pickup was in neutral ... and somewhere, in Louisiana, at the edge of the Interstate, are the parts to an engine ...
Only a fool is too cool to admit their mistakes because they are destined to repeat them. Really looking forward to seeing your upcoming projects. Can you get a permit to take those cedars down before the wind does? Thanks for sharing.
Did you get the wind last night ? I sure got it over here on the SW side of Dallas Or, I counted about 28 that are down or leaning real bad this morning here, time to grab the Stihl and the Kubota,, its good to see there are still a lot of trees , I kept thinking about you over there during the Fires we had here in Oregon , Now with the heavy rain we are getting I am sure we will get a lot of slides and downed trees .
The wind around 12:30 this morning was the worst I’ve ever seen out here. It was coming from the opposite direction though and didn’t take any of the trees with it. The power has been out ever since though.
@@NorthwestSawyer it was real bad here also about the same time I lost power but got it back PDQ, I found about 6 new down trees and what really sux is it blew my 25ft Flag Pole down ..
I'm really glad you didn't have any damage to your truck. I've done my share of stupid things too. Looking forward to seeing more of those logs being sawn. Any thoughts about getting a grapple for your tractor? Stay safe. Bill
JASON, its frustrating when one starts a project for a storage building of equipment and materials,...there never seems to be enough work area for the equipment and enoegh placement space for the material FOR the BUILD !!! LOL
@@james_jr over 4” with huge winds last night. Lots of debris and the power has been out since midnight but somehow none of the trees on my street came down. The wind was from the south and I think that’s why the trees stayed.
We should be learning from our mistakes, especially important to share so others are aware and can learn as well. I was pricing out lumber this weekend for my new shed and had sticker shock. Seems like prices are up 50% to 100% on materials. Time to consider some sweat equity and break out the chainsaw mill.

Not sure as to the cedar logs. but that rain, strong winds are tough. but yes i do thank you for sharing vid's showing the mishaps, for myself i tend to double check a lot, but still miss it. great video.
Lucked out there. Stuff happens to everybody, don't sweat it...
Stay well and hug the kids for me. How's Chase's moss farm coming???
I’m not sure but the farm will get plenty of rain tonight!
Those are some heavy freakin logs!
For sure!
Thank you, Dan! I made that receiver hitch out of 2” square steel. It’s a pretty simple modification and I posted video of the process.
We have all definitely had those ‘character building ‘ days. Down the road you can look forward to showing your son how to safety check ole dad.
I like the idea of something not going to waste.
Me too!
Did you cross the chains so if it pops off the chains catch the hitch
Normally I do but that hitch is actually for our RV and my dump trailer chains aren’t long enough to cross.
Nice music to the sawing brother
Good stuff brother keep it up.
Thank you!
Thank you! I’m pretty sure I’ve seen your pictures. I’ve thought about doing this too. My mill is always just a little too small😬
Looks like the tractor could use some rear wheel weight. I'd try fluid first if you don't have that already
I haven't had a trailer get loose on me, I witnessed a few that did early in my driving days and I gained a healthy respect for doing things right, plus check and double check.
Wow!
You might want to try a winch from the front of the trailer,
I do appreciate your not hiding mistakes, everybody has em,
Only a fool is too cool to admit their mistakes because they are destined to repeat them. Really looking forward to seeing your upcoming projects. Can you get a permit to take those cedars down before the wind does? Thanks for sharing.
It’s not my property and the trees are near a stream so it would be hard to get “permission”. The wind needs no permits😬
Maybe fluorescent paint on the end of the lever?
You could use some rear wheel weights on the tractor....or hang a few on the box blade.
I’m thinking about weight on the blade. It’ll make the blade work better too.
I'm really glad you didn't have any damage to your truck. I've done my share of stupid things too. Looking forward to seeing more of those logs being sawn. Any thoughts about getting a grapple for your tractor? Stay safe.
Bill
I have a grapple, Bill. It’s too heavy when trying to pick up logs that big but I use it all the time.
Nice to find an honest “You Tuber”
Thank you, Pete!
JASON, its frustrating when one starts a project for a storage building of equipment and materials,...there never seems to be enough work area for the equipment and enoegh placement space for the material FOR the BUILD !!! LOL
Truth!
nICE TO SEE YOU BACK LIKE YOUR CONTENTS
Thank you!
Nice job Jason, also good to see you're human too😂
Did some measuring, I've got a hemlock 3'8" in my yard. I dont burn that crap for firewood either...excellent video by the way!
It’s a pain to split.
Couple days later now, how much rain have you acquired?
@@james_jr over 4” with huge winds last night. Lots of debris and the power has been out since midnight but somehow none of the trees on my street came down. The wind was from the south and I think that’s why the trees stayed.
be safe with that weather moving in.
Thank you!
It's good to see you a again
Thank you, James!
We should be learning from our mistakes, especially important to share so others are aware and can learn as well.
I was pricing out lumber this weekend for my new shed and had sticker shock. Seems like prices are up 50% to 100% on materials. Time to consider some sweat equity and break out the chainsaw mill.
Do you have a material list? I may have the logs to make your lumber.
@@NorthwestSawyer yes, any material would help. I will pm you a list tonight.
Great job
Thank you!
That would have sucked if they took all your hard work.no on the hook up.like I use to tell my help that boy lol.we've all done it.good to see ya back up n running dude.giver hell.
Thank you!
cool thing about it show them mistakes to us ,no one is perfect and never make any mistakes . i know i sure make dumb mistakes and when it happens i cant believe it just happen and telling my self how dumb i was , glad you didnt do any damage to your nice truck
Thank you! If you watch a channel where the person never screws up, you’re watching an edited video.
Nice video, some good information.
GOOD work Human !!!!
