I like how even though these are extremely exaggerated and super powered versions, they still have a consistency between them based on the real fighting style.
I honestly think Tekken consistently has the smoothest, impactful, and hardest hitting animation of ALL the big name fighting games. You can see it in these videos.
Hwoarang's stance shows his agility and his character of being a young disciple Baek and Kim's stance shows their characteristics of being older veteran masters. Juri's stance is super weird It'll make Baek gasp lol
They boast some of the most powerful kicks in martial arts. Capoeira focuses on building up momentum with centrifugal force whereas taekwondo is pretty linear and fast.
Because of characters like Kim & Juri (and a bit lesser extent Hwoarang), if I ever learn a martial art, they had me *sold* on Taekwondo! Not expecting to shoot energy from my feet or summon Phoenixes with rapid kicks, but man they make kicking people look awesome!
Beware that there are 2 distinct styles of Taekwondo. WT and ITF WT is the one that is on the Olympics. It's more geared towards sports with all the crazy kicks that look cool and will serve you on a tournament but they're not practical on a self-defense situation. Juri, Hwoarang and Kim are based on WT. ITF is the traditional school of Taekwondo. It's a martial art centered on self-defense and, while there are crazy kicks, most techniques have some practical use on a self-defense situation. Of course there are tournaments and such. But there is more to it than the sport.
Garou: Mark of the wolves had both extremes. Kim Jae Hoon was hard working, precise and very methodical Kim Dong Hwan was more free and easy, took a tonne of shortcuts, and focused on power moves over precision.
I think the reason Tekken is the most pleasing to watch of all these, is the timing is kept close to the original human speed, and there is a minimal amount of exaggeration, and pauses for cinematic / drama/ anime effect. Vf is close but it occasionally seems like everything is being done underwater, or the gravity is lower
You should've add Lisa/La Mariposa from DOA in both wrestling and cappoeira sections since her style it's a mix of aerial style wrestling and cappoeria moves.
so that would be cool, i would like to see a capoeirista in virtua fighter and another capoeira fighter besides elena in street fighters, preferably one who fights another style of capoeira.
@@redtheroadrunner4967 There's Capoeira Regional, Capoeira Angola, Capoeira Malta, the latter being used using a razor or knife between the toes to cut people.
I was waiting for this video. I like how despite the fighting style being the same, the fighters have distinct personalities from each other. I enjoy rig and hworang respectively. This may sound weird but I can imagine Leon Kennedy from resident evil 4 being a special guest fighter for Tekken 8 (hehe)
the final scene showing Christie Monteiro and Elena's capoeira ginga is interesting because you can see that Christie uses the faster style of capoeira regional/capoeira contemporânea in contrast to Elena who uses the more leisurely style of capoeira angola.
I never considered the idea that capoeria would have different sub styles to it like karate does but it does make sense for martial arts from various cultures to have. But for some reason my head always considered that to be more of a karate thing with it’s various sub styles such as kyokushin (used by Jin Kazama), Goju Ryu (Daniel LaRusso, I know not a game character), shotokan etc.
Awesome to see 4 characters be used to showcase the Taekwondo... though I see Kim was pushed out of the thumbnail photo. An boy, does Hwaorang put on a performance by sending Jin to the sky with that 0:10 kick. 2:00 - My first thought whenever I see this throw is never wrestling... it's Mario. Always delighted to see a video featuring King!
Muay Tai characters like - Brad Burns from VF - Bruce Irwin Tekken (TTG2) - Jacqui Briggs (MK11) - Josie Rizal (Tekken 7) - Fuku ( Tekken 7) - Sagat (street fighter) - Zack (dead Jacqui - F31 and Josie 32 is the same animation Bruce, Fuk, Brad and Jacqui have "Gease Kicks" Jacqui and Bruce have clench special moves
I think most people know already, but Hwoarang gets his name from "Hwarang", the ITF Taekwon-do pattern and performs it in the Tekken 3 EMBU. His master is Baek Do-San, getting his name from the pattern "Do-San". It's an earlier pattern in the curriculum and Baek appeared a game earlier that Hwoarang, Tekken 2. That might just be a coincidence. If they ever make Tekken X Street Fighter, I need that Hwoarang X Juri tag-team ❤
The move Hwarang in Tae Kwon Do is named after the group of elite members in the Kingdom of Silla (one of the 3 kingdoms of Korea). They were basically idols during that period and their names translate to the Flowering Knight. There's also a female version called Wonhwa. So if there was a female Hwoarang it would be like Wonhwoa
Sometimes I wish they could specify what version they train. Cuz Jean Kujo from Virtua Fighter moves like does kyokushin mixed with a bit of shotokan whereas Hitomi from DOA moves like she gojo-ryu mixed with mainland Japanese karate
Kim's houyaku is enough for baek, just because everyone likes tekken doesn't mean it has best fighting skill character, kim has a lot counter and killing machine moves
These have been really fun to watch, which ones are next? I really hope to see Kickboxing and Judo. Maybe Krav Maga too? I haven't seen a character use that.
My favorite thing about these is how accurate street fighter is despite all the flare and super exaggeration. Fighting games are my favorite for this reason. Tekken always does is best imo
Grande hermano se te extraña mucho y buen video 👌... Haber haces una compilación de los demás estilos de peleas... Por cierto también tenés double dragón que ahí tenes estilos de peleas
0:39 Baek is actually Taekkyeon, not Taekwondo. Similar but different. Taekkyeon has a moving ready stance like Capoeira's "ginga", but in an opposite motion... Taekkyeon has a lot of hand pushes and takedowns
