Same Martial Art In Different Fighting Games | Part 2

- Tekken / Street Fighter/ Virtua Fighter/ DOA - Characters with the same martial arts comparison including Muay Thai, Drunken Fist & Pigua Quan. These moves animation are similar but has different effect in each game.
Part 3 is here, please check it out!

Admin 3.videoya Joe Higashiyi eklesene 👍
Xiaoyu's moves are more similar with Saya Tsubaki from Kensei: Sacred Fist. Check her out.
Just fyi if y'all are wondering why Fahkumram's animations are SO much better than the rest it's because they were both mocapped by an active pro thai muay Thai practitioner (Suakim PK Saenchai who actually has the same Garuda tattoo across the chest as Fahkumram) AND a muay Thai champion (Nadaka Yoshinari). Love how authentically Thai this man is.
I actually think they are on par with Sagat's animation, especially since a few of Sagat's look more hard hitting and stylish, but cool fact anyways.
I love fahkurmum man. My favorite move is his punch parry where he handstands like saenchai.
Bro they got THE Saenchai? That's crazy, I had no clue lmao. He's practically a living legend
i thought its buakaw tho that would be cool
@@PUNCHEDPUNCHEDPUNCHED no it's someone else, thai fighters tend to use their gym's name, in this case, saenchai's
Drunken Fist is the most mesmerizing to watch, especially if you're familiar w/ the Eight Drunken Immortals technique made famous by Jackie Chan's Drunken Master films. It's always fun to spot the moves representing the cripple, flute player, flirtatious woman, etc....
Would've loved to see Taekwondo as well, Hwoarangs and Rigs versions and their differences always fascinated me
I haven't spent much time with Rigs, but I wonder if it's the same time of Taekwon-do as Hwoarang. There are two types, ITF which started in 1955 and uses punches more (Hwoarang & Baak), and Olympic style WT from 1973, even more kick focus. I guess you have Juri from SF as well so it would make a good video 👍🏽
Kim from Fatal Fury, Jhun and Gang-il from KOF, Juri from SF, Hwoarang and Baek from Tekken, Rig from DOA.
Most realistic would be Baek, Hwoarang and Rig and the least would be Juri.
I'd say from realistic to fictional it goes: Baek/Rig -> Hwoarang -> Gang-il -> Kim -> Jhun -> Juri
Kim Kapwan deserve be mentioned in this video
Baek
Rig's style is superior than Hwoarang's, a lot more cleaner. Hwoarang have most dirty taekwondo. I wish he have a Baek move set
This video series is already one of my favourite fighting game comparison videos. Keep up the great work Buff Gigas
Another great video. Should have added Joe Higashi, King and Adon for the Muan Tuay section but so glad you added Lei Wulong and Brad Wong.
It's ok to have just one 2d char. Besides, 3d KOF looks and moves very bad. And Adon is only in SF4, that doesn't have great animation, and he himself has a cartoonish take on MT, which just wouldn't make a good addition for this comparison. Taking a whole char from SF4 is different from just taking a few Sagat moves from SF4.
It's a crime to not have Joe Higashi here.
@Carlos Augusto Adon is in SF1 and the Alpha Series. KOFXV looks really good (at least as good or better than zach looks in the video), and if you didn't want to do that, they could use maximum impact or w/e. Don't be biased, and please educate yourself.
Fun fact. Xiaoyu and Pai-Chan have actually been in the same game as each other. They were in both of the Project X Zone Games!
I love this second video you made. It's very fast paced and shows how different games portray the same moves. One might have the move be very powerful, while another will have it be quicker. One example is the kick flurry in Muay Thai. Sagat kicks very savagely, while Zacks kicks very fast.
The bonus Xianghua and Braxien at the end surpised me. That was pretty cool.
Helena and Pai-Chan are also both in DOA5
@@keenanrobinson7239 I guess I should have mentioned that too. I didn't think to do that.
Loved seeing all the variety comparisons. Especially with that ending 😅
Fantastic to see this become a series; fascinating to watch the similarities.
0:19 - Is... Is Sagat stopping time? So many of his attacks seem to just freeze everything. Clearly he's mastered a deeper level of Muay Thai here.
1:03 - Everyone has very slow, measured kicks... then there's Zack firing them off at the speed of sound. Love the sheer contrast and how much more energetic he is.
1:15 - All these years and it's taken me this long to realise that Lei's fighting style is drunken fist. I knew his fighting style was quirky, but seeing these similarities here... holy heck.
2:46 - The Xianghua and Braixen were unexpected guest appearances but accurate. Fantastic video here!
Lei's style is not just drunken fist, but more like Jackie Chan in general, from Armour of God to Police Story
Sagat doesn’t freeze time, that’s just the built in hit pause in the SF series. Focus Attacks in SF are especially noticeable.
@@daddysaso i think he knows, it's just a joke
@@irasac1 Yeah I figured the time freeze part was a joke but thought he might genuinely be confused what it's about lol
SF is meant to be more cartoonish than 3d fgs in the delivery of moves. And all 3d fgs are meant to be more accurate deliveries. And inside the 3d group, the games vary because of each dev team's difference of style.
Showing Xianghua during the Pigua Quan section makes me feel better about the lack of Liu Kang in the Jeet Kune Do section of the first video! Love watching these!
Adon should've been here too. From the same game. Was really nice to have two representations in the one game, actually. Something SF4 did with a few styles actually (and it was awesome). I know a lot of people hated Adon aside from how effective he was but I always liked him despite never being good enough at the game to take advantage of that. He was a grinning little psychopath all focused on really sharp looking strikes, and I kinda love it. Strong 2nd favourite from that roster (favourite was Makoto).
One is enough. Besides Adon is fairly more cartoonish for the comparison. Maybe ok if it was only a 2d fg comparison, but when comparing to 3d it's better to just use SF5 Sagat version.
2nd, SF isn't special for that. Other games through the years have shown good variety of styles and good representation of the same style, not just 1:1.
Also Joe's (KOF) Muai Thai in 2d games is better than Sagat and Adon's Muai Thai in 2d. He then was beaten by both in the change to 3d because of the bad graphics and animations.
@@carlosaugusto9821 it seemed odd to include several examples from some franchises and not others but eh *shrug* cool to learn about that kind of thing being more common in other fighters than I was assuming. I didn't know that and ain't generally well versed in fighting games and it's neat.
Street Fighter honestly has a lot of like
Characters who utilize the same martial art as a series regular but in a way manage to capture the actual martial art better than who they're "copying"
Balrog/Boxer vs. Dudley both being boxing specialists but Dudley being a bit more grounded and (marginally more subtle) about dirty boxing.
Makoto as a karetaka, who despite having strangling an opponent unconscious and dick punches as part of her signature style, feels way more Specifically Karate than any of the Shotos (since while definitely not legal karate techniques, are more plausible than Throwing a Fireball)
and Adon being more typical and emblematic of Muay Thai, despite Sagat being the designated Muay Thai Guy most of the time
@@hambor12 ah I'm playing SF6 these days (managed against my expectations to get a new console) and really enjoying these variations, applying them to my created characters especially. Hoping for Adon (unlikely I think) or Makoto (much more likely) to show up eventually. But it's got a great roster already.
Lol, Brad burns from virtua fighter changed voice actors between VF4 and VF5 , but the most recent version of VF5 still uses dialogue from the Virtua fighter 4 version of brad for certain moves , I'm guessing that no one on the dev team noticed that lol. These style comparison videos are great! Keep 'em comin'!
I still chuckle whenever I hear Brad say "Checkmate" in his VF4 voice lol
@@QuickTimeFailure lol yeah, me too!
V4 was way better than V5 for its time
VF4 Brad's voice was perfect, I don't know why they got a new voice actor
DOA always has the best camera system compared to the others.
I love how Brad Wong in DOA 5 hast the same voice actor for Heihachi Mishima
I love this series and this concept. Keep this up and I wanna try my hand at this
I wish you would've shown more of Bruce
I agree. There definitely should have been more of Bruce.
Regardless of play style, he’s the first Muay Thai practitioner in Tekken. So put some respect on his name.
Ngl, he was the first one I've been looking for. Sad that most forget there was someone before Fahkumrham. (I might've got his name wrong, and I'm sorry in advance for that. 😅)
He’s more Muay Boran but yea they left him out
He’s too vanilla for the settings.
My classmate does Muay Thai, after all those years I finally know what the heck he was talking about
CAN THIS PLEASE BECOME A SERIES WITH OTHER STYLES? I LOVED THIS.
Helena brings elegance to Pigua Quan. If you look back to DOA2, a game from the late 90s the motion captures they did back then still hold up to this day, amazing. I don't even know if they are motion captures they are very well done
DOA used to be a technical wonder in the beginning. It was one of its highlights, and in the early 00s it was truly above all other 3d fgs in that aspect. It's just that the DOA devs failed to push the technology harder over the next sequels, unlike TK, VF and SC... so DOA stopped looking technically impressive at some point. And finally it was buried by VF5, TK6 and SC4. It lost that reputation of being ahead of others in technical aspects. Even though DOA5 is visually impressive and better than SC5 (I don't remember if it's better than TTT2), and DOA6 is visually better than SF5 and SNK games (maybe I could also add a few TK7 models), that damage to its reputation from the late 00s couldn't be healed. It fails to make a big impression of technical advancement.
@@carlosaugusto9821 I'd honestly say DOA5 can hold up to T7 even. They changed the visual style and everything and that game honest holds up to this day in my opinion. At least visually and the movesets look great too.
@@carlosaugusto9821 doa 5 from a technical standpoint is actually better and harder to master than tekken 7 but tekken 7 gets dickriders. Doas tag mode was better than any other 3d game and the team battle was ahead of its time.
This is pretty neat… I’d also love to see the comparison to people actually doing this stuff IRL alongside the characters doing it in the video game
The quality of DOA's animations in astonishing. Most fighting focus all attention to animation delivery of the blow, while DOA also puts attention to attacks animation themselves, it also takes extra effort to animate convincingly reactions to said attacks.
What are you smoking bro?
Helena’s play style in particular has always been one of my favorites
It’s so confusing to fight her. Same with Ling
Please continue this series, it's really dope!
I find this entertaining. You earned a new subscriber
This is a good series, i really like these
Bruce needs a comeback
Hopefully in Tekken 8.
Everyone complains about Bruce not being in the game. What was so special about him? I really doubt the amount of push is gonna be anywhere near the amount of actual play of him much like what happened with Lei and other characters people begged Harada for.
@@coolunusual that is what I noticed they are begging to Lei to comeback but he is at the bottom of the Character Usage :(
I don't know what it is about Street Fighter V, but the animations are on another level. Sagat looks so good compared to the rest. 00:38 Everything he throws feels so controlled and has good technique.
Capcom started leveling up during SFV
Not better than the others. Also SF5 has more inconsistent animation quality through the roster compared to 3d fgs where it's more stable and consistent overall. Some chars have good animations and others have bad animations.
Niiiiice. Glad you at least gave some credit to Bruce. The Tekken Muay Tai OG🔥
Son of a gun. You actually included a 2D fighter in this. Awesome job.
Well, it’s mainly the art, but also the CHARACTER
Loving this videos!
This is a fun series. Definitely amusing seeing Pokken at the end there. I know that there are several Tekken moves in that game.
Lei Wulong of Tekken best Jackie Chan replica.
Love the part, where fighting style may looks the same, but animations done diffrentley. It's a nice touch to see how development were made)))
I absolutely love these videos man, subscribed and hope to see more 😀
Love seeing these keep ‘em coming 💯
man i wish Team Ninja's DOA got the respect it deserved for being an authentic fighting game with great animations, but koei really just wanted to be a booba waifu simulator :/
@Asshat Zeppeli DOA5 started off taking itself seriously too when the game first came out. But, fans bitched. So, the fan service took center stage. It's a real shame because DOA5 is a great game
@Asshat Zeppeli lol makes sense the fan base would ruin it 😂
@Asshat Zeppeli They only did that because they thought that would help them get into EVO but that alienated the fans. And ultimately did not even get into EVO while Soulcalibur 6, game which came out around the same time but did not shy away from fan service, did so it was all for nothing.
@Asshat Zeppeli I hate how most the fanbase is full of simps, cant STAND comms like that
If the game comes back again they should listen to the fans, but not for stupid dlc and big tits (though if there is dlc again make it fair for the women and males because the females had more in 5 and 6)
I still play DOA2 in my PS2
I just want to take this chance and say i'm so glad there is someone out there who's genuinely showing an appreciation for the fighting game genre in general, giving a chance to all games and trying to find the best of all of them, without taking pointless sides.
This shouldn't be a reason for praise, but from my experience, you are doing god's work.
Great video and keep up the good work 👍
Especially when TK has the most disrespectful and snob community of any fg ever, because their game is an incomparably better state than 3d competitors VF and DOA
The multi verse of variants in fighting games.
Of course makes sense now.
Kind of a crime to not have Joe Higashi here
I love how the drink counter with Shun Di. I used to do that in real life on Saturday nights.
Those appearances from Soul Calibur and Pokken were a pleasant surprise.
Beo that was awesome, hey try with leo (Tekken) and with Akira (Virtua fighter) they both use Baji-Quan, maybe their way of fighting is the same
I made it, here ua-cam.com/video/GT4iFx6tSVo/v-deo.html
For the next part:
*Commando/Combat SAMBO* (Bayman and Leon from DOA, Blue Mary from Fatal Fury and Sergei Dragunov from Tekken)
*Pro-Wrestling* (Tina and Bass Armstrong from DOA, King, King II and Armor King from Tekken, Haggar and Hugo from Final Fight, Zangief from Street Fighter)
*Taekwondo* (Baek Doo San and Hwoarang from Tekken, Rig from DOA, Yungmie from Fighter's History, Kim Kaphwan from Fatal Fury)
Oh yeah I'm very much looking forward for pro wrestling
Don’t forget Wolf from VF for the pro wrestling.
@@orlanzo2621 My bad. I forgot him. Thanks for reminding me. 👍
I really like the fluidity of Virtua Fighter but I won't deny it does lack some impact. As a fighting game it's really sharp, though, so definitely don't let the tepid aesthetics dissuade you from trying it.
Neat series, keep them coming.
Can you imagine the immense brawl it would be if there is a crossover of all these games?
I believe that's what all fans want. I mean if there's no escape from dlc guests, then make good things with it. (Unlike TK Team's guest char choices after Geese).
I like how all the Muay Thai fighters (other than Zach) have the same tone of voice😂😂
Wrestling comparison would be lit. Wolf moves are so dope.
You can see here that Josie is not the clone of Bruce, they have different style
They have similar moves and similar styles. Stop it.
They should have had different styles. Josie' style is listed as "Eskrima" but her moves are more akin to "Yaw Yan" a Filipino style of Kickboxing.
@@since2133 That's not how martial arts work. Just because the move looks similar doesn't mean it's the same style or it's the same martial arts. Stance-wise, the difference between Josie and Fahkumram is already obvious.
@@SnakeInTheRain Bruce is not pure muay Thai either..
Bruce used to be muay Thai during ttt1 but in t6 he also became a kickboxer..
Fahkumram on the other hand is pure muay Thai..
Also the reason some ppl say Bruce and Josie are similar are their CD mix ups and df4 stance and these moves are super important to both
That's because she practices Yaw-yan (Sayaw ng Kamatayan) which is Filipino kickboxing, basically, and not Muay Thai.
She's closer to King from Art of Fighting/KOF (who mixes Savate with Muay Thai) than anyone else.
I'm very excited for the rest of this series
Sagat’s English voice is the best I’ve ever heard in any fighting game.
Fahkumram is the coolest muay Thai character, he looks weird but his style is unmatched..
Big fan of this content. Keep it up.
Man, Xiaoyu's posing is so good.
FYI Pai Chan kung fu style is called Mizongquan has similar moves but aren’t the same. The only two pi quan fighters are both ling xiaoyu and Helena
Concur with everyone else here. Awesome to see the comparisons of techniques amongst the practitioners. At the same time, wow, it makes me think. How would the king of Muay Thai Sagat deal with Fahkumram? Mountain of muscle vs. mountain of muscle!
Jacqui Briggs in MK11 also does Muay Thai and she has similar animations lol, that’s pretty cool.
Great! more of this, please
Damn, Zack’s repeated body blow kicks are something else
Kind of useless in the game though. Easy to hold.
I dont know why they only showed some of Zacks moves even tho he has pretty much all of them. i guess they dont play a lot of Doa haha
@@TokyMiku A lot of Zack's moves are his own wacky shit instead of Muay Thai.
@@revbladez5773 they still classify since they're pretty close to Muay Thai lol
@@revbladez5773 you never see silly muaythai fighter in fight? The silly move to mask the attack intention.
I notice you mostly put wrestlers against Muay Thai users and Aikijujutsu-users against Pigua Quan users. Hints towards what the next video might be perhaps?
I really love this series.
Two interesting observations I have made while watching this:
- While The Muai Thai fighters are appropriately bandaged are their wrists and feet, they also share trunks (if that's an option for said character) of a similar Red and Blue (or purple?) color. Not sure if that's traditional Muay Thai colors or not, but that caught my attention.
- Drunken Fist is utilized by characters with THE most stereotypical 90s Martial Arts master look to them. I guess Jackie Chan isn't too far off Bruce Lee in terms of homages.
They need to make a crossover of Tekken, Virtua Fighters and Dead Or Alive
I can`t help but for me the animations in DoA looking the best...
imo some of the attack animations looks flimsy but "getting hit" animations is top tier in 3D fighters
VF is sometimes on the same level but I really dislike the way they fall right where they stood which is not the case with Doa.
@@wserthmar8908 yeah the attack and throws looks great but VF's getting hit animations is a mix bag. It's either great or just bad
You never see the characters sliding through the floor like in Tekken in DOA either. I legit think that DOA is the best fighting game in terms of animations, graphics and overall spectacle, barring ArcSys' anime fighters.
@@MrMister681 And don`t to forget, DoA got Ayane, simply by this fact it`s the best fighting game... ^^
glad Bruce made it into a few clips!
Let’s get that part 3
I always thought it was funny to have Zack dressed as a teletubbie and whoop ass
I love this series
Love that SoulCalibur cameo at the end lol
For the next part
Boxing - Steve Fox from Tekken, balrog and Ed, Dudley from street fighter, Vanessa and Nelson from king of fighters,
Koppojutsu - Andy and Geese from king of fighters, nina and Anna Williams from Tekken
Savate - Elizabeth and ash from King of fighters, Katarina Alves from Tekken.
Capoeira - Elena from street fighter, Eddy gordo and Christie Monteiro from Tekken, zarina, soiree Meira and Richard Meyer from king of fighters
Judô - goro daimon from king of fighters, paul Phoenix from Tekken, Abel from street fighter, goh from Virtua fighter
Me walking up to fight Sagat:
"This n**** brought a whole tiger to the fight? Forfeit, I'm out" 😂
Brad Burns a real italian name ahah
We're missing Joe Higashi and Adon
Fun Fact: Sagat from Streetfighter is based on a real Muay Thai champion, Sagat Petchyindee.
Cool
Bruce Irvin is the real Muay Thai Kickboxer! Brad Burns is cool too
tbh, the big body type for muay thai fighter is a bit of a contradictory since most of muay thai world champions are more leaner & shorter.
Man Fahk and Sagat have REALLY similar animations
To me this shows how Tekken's animation is superior than its 3DFG competitions.
💯
esto es cultura marcial en los videojuegos😎un aplauso
1:42 same attack, different FUNCTION by game…
Can't wait for Tekken 8. Please bring back Fahk.
Fahkumram is the most realistic MT guy. Very authentic.
Street fighters and the first game are the most accurate to what a Muay Thai technique looks IRL
I never understood why characters like Sagat and Fahkumram and other Thai characters in games are always depicted as being so tall. When in reality Thai people are quite short in comparison to the rest of the world 🤔
The fighting mechanics of ZACK(1996) is quite great, I don't know the game but it's really good.
I mean when it comes to fighting games it's really hard to beat the mechanics of Tekken and Street fighter franchise.
P. S - Cheers to you mate for putting so much hard work in collecting the data.
I swear fahk is a rework of Sagat from Tekken x Street fighter, that never happened.
the choose Akuma
@@RECHOOSENONE Do you even know what Tekken X Street Fighter is?
Pretty much.
DOA looks good
Be sure to also include wrestling and sumo in the next video.
Wow Leo, Eliot and Lion look the same character.
Joe from KOF is a great option of Muai Thai fighter in games
Interesting how alot of the characters share the same design language
Just got me thinking: Drunken MMA.
Wasn't expecting Pokemon to make a cameo in this
Do one on Sumos with E. Honda(Street Fighter), Ganryu(Tekken), & Hinako(KOF).
You have to include Taka from VF in that one.
Sprite 2d games can't work in the comparison. Also you forgot Taka Arashi from a 3d fg.
Can't unsee Zack as Lance Reddick
That's great! 🌟💗
"Why scared?" -Sagat
Just for the record pai chan actually uses mizong quan and ling xiaoyu uses a bagua zhang pigua quan and pigua zheng mix
Que simpatico pikachu en el final mirando al horizonte como perrito distraído.
Fahkumram hits like an ICBM sheeeeeesh
