Great info about the new studs and nuts being 4.8mm. That explains why I had trouble threading the new plastic nuts I got from Pelican parts (4.8mm) onto the old studs (5mm) on my Boxster.
Hi Christoph. Thanks for the message. God only knows why they have done this. It’s totally illogical. Boxster is a very nice car. I drove a friends 3.2 a couple of years ago and loved it! Take care, Joël
It occurs to me that an alternative to the Boellhoff system for those of us without access to the tool (830 quid on ebay atm) might be to use standard M5 rivNUTs in combination with M5 hangar bolts (which you occasionally find in stainless steel). I'm assuming that the aluminium nut could well corrode itself to the stud but I'm not sure if this is a big deal since you'd never want to separate them once fitted. Also, the M5/M4.8 thing may be a complete red herring. I had to source some self tappers for a cruise control retrofit (I have the earlier mechanical throttle) and found that these were 0.2mm smaller that the "standard" metric threaded equivalent. Perhaps this is an inherent part of metric self tapping thread standard specification? PS/ Keep up the good work. I enjoy watching your progress on both this and the Landy (and am very jealous of your lift).
Hi, thanks for your message. Interesting to hear your experience with studs and thread sizes. Will start uploading videos again soon. The summer has been so busy there’s been no time to edit. There is lot of content tho. 😅 Yes, the lift changes everything. Took me a long time to get it though. Was looking for years. Speak soon Joêl. Ps. Landy is also on the List. Need to remove the head and check the head gasket and replace if damaged. It never ends.
Hi, I’m not sure, but you might find it in the Parts diagrams on the Design911 or Partworks websites. Or you could phone your OPC. They will know. 👍 Sounds like you are having similar issues to me.
Good video. Very brave drilling 30 holes in your car. You don't need that tool though, any tool for metric rivnuts will do. You can buy these on ebay with much longer arms for £30! PS I'd just fit M6 ones everywhere and ignore the M5s. Be better to have stronger studs with more metal present.
Love your work mate. Have a C4S similar to yours with plate ending with 911 as well 😁. Where may I buy those bohloff rivet studs? Can't find them online. Great job 👍
Hi Damien, thanks for your message. I bought mine directly from Böllhoff in Germany. But you can buy them from your OPC. They cost around €2 each tho. Terrible.
@@My911 Thanks. "Funny" to see all the exact same issues I've got on mine : rivstuds, allen bolt attaching the lines to the steering rack, brake lines,...
Good job, i as crawling under my 996 on saturday to replace the Cardon shaft damper and i was looking at these. A job for the future.
Same issue on my Boxster as they simple snap off when removing - I've been looking at various solutions, so now I know! Thanks
Hope it works out 👍
Found your project last night and have been happily binging, keep it up! I am really enjoying the series!
Thanks Evan. Welcome to the channel. Will upload another one tomorrow. 👍

If you need to do this again, you can rethread the old studs and plastic print the nuts to go over. Takes 20mins to print each one and works a treat.
Thanks. Good idea. Some of mine were so far gone that replacement was the only way.
How do you buy tools? Did you buy them online? Please share where you bought them.
Hi, if you mean the Rivkle tool, I borrowed it from my OPC.
@@My911 how can I contact to you?
@@My911Can you ask your OPC where to buy RIVKLE TOOLS?
Thanks for this video! Any idea what the Porsche part number may be for the m6 rivstud?

The issue is the m6 stud does fit the plastic screw fittings. You have to drill them out which I really don’t want to do.
@@My911 Ah, guessing the plastic fittings are reassuringly Porsche prices?
@@ruaraidhmcdonald-walker9524 of course :)
Wouldn’t the rivnuts give you a threaded hole rather then a stud?

I totally agree. I think there will be more owners experiencing the same issues as time goes on. Ps New video out tomorrow. 👍
I just typed ‘woo Hoo’ on your Instagram, now I’ve watched it and what a nightmare !
What’s the plan ?
Cut them all off, and replace them. 👍
Don’t go through Porsche! Bollhoff should make the speed nuts you need!
Hi Graem, you are right.and I did in the end. 😀
@@My911 Hi would you mind sharing the part # for the stud please
