Thank you very much for the fix. On my 1981 Scirocco, someone over tighten one of the two stud bolts at the rear of the A-Arm, and broke it off, looks just like your situation. I’ll try your fix.
I've done this for the rear upper control arm on an old Honda. Tapped to the next largest size bolt. It's good to get a peak inside the frame so you can see the wall thickness of what you're tapping into. BTW my repair has been good for years and tens of thousands of kilometers.
job well done good repair should be solid for years to come its nice VW gave us that access window I have a mk2 golf with a broken weld on the captives nut for the subframe chassi leg
Same happen to my rear subframe after lowering to replace my strut assembly now i need to do that slowly and patiently 😂😂. I went to shop they dont remove broken bolts
The metric threads don't need a chart, just some basic math. M10 x 1.5 stands for 10mm nominal diameter, and 1.5mm/turn pitch. Subtract 10mm-1.5mm=8.5mm and you get the drill size
Tap lightly with hammer... Yup, solid! Get'er done!

A proper tap handle and cutting oil is highly recommended!
Well job like that, I usually use a reverse bits
Very good,. Now is it possible to join the broken bolt with another bolt with a kind of join adapter?

We got the same problem with the rust here in the Midwest United States 😎
This will help me with my lower control arm
This is good but what if i just whant to remove the bolt without having to redo the tread
Hi. will this be safe for the long run?

Aren't you supposed to be doing this in low speed? It doesn't get the bit as hot and dahl it up, but maybe $15 bits are different.
