Comparison of Railhammer Nuevo 90's and the stock 490R/490T pickups in my Les Paul. Same set of strings, and same tone settings for each set of pickups. My Les Paul has the newer circuit board type of wiring, so I used these adaptors to install the Railhammers:

-Mahogany Body with "Modern" weight relief
-Maple neck with rosewood fretboard

- Clean tones are stock preset "01A Double Nrm" with the reverb and compression disengaged as the only alterations. This is their take on a Fender Twin on the "Normal" input.
-Overdrive tones are the same clean preset listed above, with a "Scream 808" overdrive added. Stock settings were used on the od.
-High Gain tones are stock preset "03D Revv Gen Red" also with the reverb disengaged as the only alteration. This is their take on the Revv Generator 120 on the "Red Channel".
Now this is how you make a demo. Multiple pickup positions, multiple levels of gain, identical phrase played back to back for each pickup position. Awesome job! I loved the Railhammers and this has really helped me decide which pickups I'm getting next, thanks!
The Gibson's sound warmer to me overall, but they're both good pickups. You can't go wrong with either.
Great demo. Just ordered a set if Nuevo 90’s. Important to note they are modeled after P90’s not humbuckers.
Mad props for a great demo. Was thinking about buying a LP Tribute with the 490s and this demo nicely suggests that it wouldn't be a mistake. Nice tones and your replication of timing in the A/B edits is excellent. 👍
490R and 490T for me. I had these ones on a Gibson Howard Robert Fusion III. These were sounding amazing. Deep bass and great mids.

490’s but it was closer than I thought it would be. Especially there at the end. I couldn’t hear much of a difference on High Gain.

Doesn’t sound like the Nuevo 90’s are an improvement over the 490’s
The rail hammer are more on the trebly side. They’d be great for a lead guitarist.
490 for me for the mid range. Nuevo have a cool open acoustic quality,though.

gibson 490`s are more mid range sounding wich i prefer but i don`t dislike the clarity of nuevo 90`s but gibson have all the full spectrum low mid and high ! nuevo i think would be good for jazz !otherwise for rock thy are kinda anemic
The Nuevo pups have a beautiful chime and clarity almost Fender like.
Great comparison. Kept it simple and the same back to back..... really let's you hear the difference. I love the 490's..... they have a little more mids and to me a bit more balls.....a little hotter too I think. The Nuevo's certainly aren't bad..... it's different strokes for different folks really.

The differences are so slight that nobody would notice in a mix.
nice. Not bad sounding by any means but ah, P90's? Uh no way Railhammer. Just doesn't have the saturation and fullness of P90's. Those 490's sound more like P90's.

If a demo can be inspiring, it is this one. I've had an LP Studio and a guitar with the nuevos, always a good excuse to revisit this. Well done.

Very nice. Might go with a 490 in the bridge, Nuevo in the neck. Or other way around.. nice thing about those Nuevos is you got options.
Nuevo 90's for the win. More clarity.
The 490s have a more pronounced midrange, but the Nuevos have a much tighter low end. I definitely think Nuevos sound better clean. If you're going for anything modern I'd definitely choose the Nuevos for distortion, 490s for classic rock. Great demo!
