I really hate the guessing game. I have eyelids for that. I like to check my ear along the way. That being said, this is bar none, the best blind test that I’ve ever had the pleasure to survey. It was just enough of everything and not too much of anything from the specs to the commentary, to the graphics. Stellar job, bud.
I picked the Gibson everytime and I prefer their sound. I have a Gibson with the 490's and an Epiphone with probuckers so I was able to tell the difference between them.
Ha, I hate the 490r/490t in my SG Special Faded but chose the Gibson on every clip. Just goes to show the pickups are just one part of the equation. Great video fella 👍
I found that I preferred the Gibson for the clean sounds and the Epiphone for the distortion ones? I have an SG type guitar by 'Vintage' with Humbuckers, that I enjoy very much. I chose it over the Epiphone... but I do mostly tend to play with distortion effects. Your sounds took my mind to 'The Pink Fairies' eg live on the 'Mandies And Mescaline Round At Uncle Harry's' album. Big Smiles! K ( :
I honestly prefer the ProBuckers to the 490s. I did a comparison between an Epiphone Les Paul Standard ‘60s, a Gibson Les Paul Tribute, and a Gibson Les Paul Standard ‘60s. While I prefer the ‘60s BurstBuckers overall, I prefer the ProBuckers to the 490s any day.
Prefered the Gibson bridge. Middle was a split. Prefered the Epiphone neck. Looks like I’ll need a guitar with a Probucker neck and 498t bridge. I own guitars with Probuckers and 490rs, btw.
I preferred the Gibson. However, it wasn't a blind test after the first sample, because both guitars are out of tune differently and thus clearly distinguishable, plus the tremolo thingy was audible on top of that. So between all that distraction I found it difficult to focus on the pickups. I think neither of these guitars would be for me regardless of pickups, but I liked the playing so listened to it three times. Yeah, I believe I prefer the Gibson pickups.

Great video. It was actually a mixture of which I liked. And they both sounded great. So Neither won or lost.

I liked the probuckers also. Thanks for the comparison.
There were times when I preferred the tone of the epi than the gibson, however it sure was close but when I tallied it, I overall prefer the gibson
Was the pickup height the same ?
I have both, so I was able to pick them right. 490s for me
Got the last test wrong. I picked the one I liked the least and it was the Gibson every time but the last. Though I like BB's and CB's.
Epis sound great, overall I prefer them.
The Epiphone pickups sound better. They have more high end and a fuller sound.

epiphone is way muddyer with gain...

Well I'll buy the probucker slightly the same game here. One being much clear on the bridge because it have more impedance... in the gibson bridge...
I guessed the Gibson every time except 1… I prefer the Gibson sound. It’s rounder

That's exactly the configuration on my sg, the 498T with the pro bucker on neck and sound awesome, great mix.
I think the Epi's were better glad i just got a set
I picked The Gibson everytime it sound clearer better tone
I like the 490’s. They sounded smooth. The Epiphones sounded good, but higher mids, less refined, just not as good as the Gibson.
Got 100% , I have good ears. The Gibson p/u’s are definitely better
The490’s are better . I have both and live there’s no comparison.

Should have used two guitars that are the same...... Hard to compare pick-ups in different guitars...
No two guitars are ever the same. Well, PRS's may be close, but certainly not Gibsons.
every pickups sound like a hit because you play bad and out of tune
