This is probably one of the most beloved shows ever! Tim Allen shines like no other comedian, and it goes without saying, they could have kept going with the series. Wilson was the foundation to logic, even if he did have his moments that shook his moral compass. And no matter how well Wilson explained something to Tim, it would always come out differently when Tim repeated it. I recently binged as much of the show as anyone can, and it really hit hard when the last episode was ending. A family had been created that we all came to love. Not many shows are that good. It would be lovely to have them back (alas minus Wilson) and see what their new life had turned into. Can you imagine Tim doing something different, yet still fumbling around and getting a board stuck to his head? How would he react to retirement? Would he find ways to give a wheelchair more power? The Taylors will always be in my heart. ❤
@@FactsVerse Oh wow…favorite episode? It’s almost impossible to choose! I think one that stands out for me is when Tim builds a setting area/gazebo for Jill using wood from the play set that the boys had played on. It showed that even though Tim was all about his cars, and being a He-Man, that he truly loves Jill. Not that the love isn’t shown in the other episodes, but this one really puts it into perspective. Of course any show with Bob Villa had to be a good episode as well. That’s what made Home Improvement such a great show…there were no bad episodes…there were only three really sad episodes, when Jill’s dad passed away, Randy leaving home, and the last episode of the show. I didn’t want to watch them because I knew what was going to happen.
The narrator literally says at the start of the video he would discuss several facts about the show. Also, you can skip ahead in videos. That's allowed now. Don't even have to pay for the luxury
I thought it was Heidi. As the one guy said about her, I think he was the Tool Time TV director, "We like Heidi." Yes we did. She was much cuter than Pamela. I always liked the calendars in the background.
Wilson actually did show his face in an episode once. It was the episode where the beach boys come out to visit and they sing a song with Jill. During the scene one of the beach boys leans forward and you can see Wilson’s face clearly behind the beach boys
Home Improvement was a great sitcom. No one should have let Tim near a tool. It was a very funny program. That Christmas Tree episode was one of my favorites. I just think of that and can burst into laughter. Just loved it! Carol from California
All things that you mentioned I think I already knew them. But good to him again. This is my absolute favorite TV show of all time. As I was the same age as the kids in the show in the 90s I grew up watching this. And it’s my all-time favorite to this day. I can watch it over and over again. I love the comedy.
Marty Tayler wasn't a sibling of the other kids on the show lol. He was the brother on the show of Tim's. Unless there was some really funky stuff going on in their fictional world I don't see how he could have been both Tim's brother and son.
My all time favorite sitcom. This show could always make me laugh, even when I was having a bad day. Tim Allen got his life together and the world is a much better place for the laughter he has brought us. He was very emotional when he found out about Earl Hindemans passing which shows the love he had for his cast mates.
A little research is always a good idea. Earl Hindman -- a fine actor who sadly succumbed to lung cancer at age 61 -- pronounced his name with a long "I" (as in "hide").
I started watching the show because of "Wilson". He gave some pretty solid advice to Tim, and it caught my ear. I was hooked and would tune in each week to hear Wilson's advice. Wilson was so cool!
The fact that Tim Allen was inspired by his real-life neighbor and brought that unique element into Wilson's character is both hilarious and heartwarming. It's these creative decisions that turned 'Home Improvement' into such a memorable part of television history.
Wilson briefly showed his face on accident on at least 4 occasions 1. in an early episode in season 1 he turned towards the camera before they changed the shot 2. in the thanksgiving 1994 episode his face was showing at first when he and Tim were in their yards talking 3. Season 5 when Brad gets the hair cut that Tim hated. While Wilson and Randy were talking about Romeo and Juliet, Wilson was using the book to hide his face and at one point he put the book down when the camera was on him. 4. in the Beach Boys episode when Mike Love stepped forward they showed his face briefly. I watched each of these recently so thats how i know
An unseen character in a sitcom is a pretty common thing, for example Carlton the Doorman in Rhoda and Mrs. Wolowitz in The Big Bang Theory. Sometimes even when you can see them, you don't get to know their full names, for example Penny's last name in The Big Bang Theory and B.J. Hunnicutt's first name in M*A*S*H. Sometimes these things are planned from the start, sometimes a couple of seasons in they realize they've never shown a character or given one a name and they just decide to run with it.
Never noticed that the tool time girl changed or that anderson even played on the show, however from the first time I heard Wilson, I knew who it was i was a viewer of the soap opera ryans hope so I knew that voice. I dont rember a 4th child that you mentioned
I'm pretty sure at least part of the idea about hiding Wilson's face was also inspired by the popularity of "Carlton the Doorman" from the series Rhoda who was unexpectedly popular because of the intrigue generated by viewers only ever hearing his voice and never getting to see him.
I think the other perhaps lesser known potential reason that Wilson's face is never shown, is that he is perhaps more symbolically considered "the voice of reason" or in a way Tim's advisor we could say, so thus Wilson's actual face is not necessary and might even distract from the various conversations they had on the show. So basically, in a nutshell, Wilson is more a mentor for Tim and the family, and not so much as a character of his own and they likely didn't want to add him as a chracter with a backstory (even though he does have one, but it's only briefly mentioned in episodes).
I'm rewatching it right now... he was definitely a regular in the later seasons. Hell, he's LIVING IN THEIR HOUSE in season 8 after he's separated from his wife.
You forgot - The Chevy Nomad, that Tim crushed with the I-Beam was NOT an actual car but a rolling chassis! No cars were harmed in the making of the episode!
I think what surprised me was that Tim Allen and Tom hanks were of course onscreen buddies in the Toy Story movies, but they each had a classic supporting actor in a different project providing them BOTH with comfort and wisdom given the name "Wilson". Tim = Home Improvement Tom = Cast Away

But i clearly remembered it being weird they were hiding his face in the subsequent episodes, when i just saw his face fully.
Might as well tell about another character. The construction worker with the long beard (the one that played on the makeshift drums nade out of gas cans) was actually a drummer for Kenny Rogers back in the day.
Actually there was a moment where Wilson's face was fully seen but it wasn't intentional and it was a blink and you'll miss it moment during the episode with The Beach Boys if you paid attention you'd see his face when one of the Beach Boys accidentally moved forward

Should have just named this "Facts about Tim Allen and Home Improvement" because almost all of this video was just assorted facts and bio about people in the show, and only the last bit was actually related to the title
Spoiler alert: This video does not tell you why Wilson never showed his face. Just that Tim Allen wanted that. Why? Never said. There just saved you 8 minutes and 32 seconds. Do something for me sometime when and if. 😛
Tim Allen's autobiography titled "Don't Stand To Close To A Naked Man" was more informative and had the information different than this video. In the book Tim recalled a neighbor from his childhood that his father would get advice from and since Tim was a small child he could only see the top of the neighbor's head. Home Improvement incorporates some of his real life into the show such as he once was a traveling tool salesman for Mac Tools before he tried to make extra money on the side running cocaine and got busted but gave up the supplier for a reduced sentence. Tim's real life brothers, Tim was the middle child of 3 brothers his older brother is Steve his younger brother is Marty same as the show. Tim Allen's birth name is Timothy Allen Dick, his father died when he was 10 years old. Tim in real life has 3 daughters it's Patricia Richardson who in real life has 3 sons . Tim's grunts, Tim's mother's opinion on males raising 3 boys as a widow was that males were still unevolved and were still between aped and cavemen and should carry a club and grunt like an ape so Tim would make grunts and hooting sounds like a monkey to appeas his mother. Tim is a real life car guy and had designed the Cadillac TA (Tim Allen) edition for General Motors who didn't pay him for his contribution so he sued them to prevent his name being associated with the car and it was rebadged as the Cadillac CTS, Richard Karn (Al Borland is a real general contractor and both he and his wife own and maintain residential rental properties. Another reference to his home state of Michigan is the name of Al and Cal Borland's mother "Alma" as there's a small college town named Alma Michigan.

Is that on purpose that his initials are WWW and he always seems to have all the answers?
My daddy was a copy of Allan. If he bought it he would improve it 🤣🤣
Pretty sure Marty Taylor was Tim's brother, not son
Yes, and he was developed quite a bit.
