I have never gotten used to the new Mandy. Molly was awesome. Played that part perfectly.
I agree you can't replace a 5'1 with a 6' girl. The hair well I understand Molly could have dyed it blonde but height I couldn't get over.

Losing Kaitlyn was the biggest blow. Her interactions with Mike are what made the show. Everything else is just a bonus.
McCook is 10x better, from any straight adult males perspective. Molly E has a giant nose, isn’t funny af all & is constantly rude + a …bangs having 2/10 stars, while Molly McCook is a solid 8/10 stars & fun, funny, adult tall n cute + nice irl

I always liked how the old Mandy character was able to evolve into a successful entrepreneur while still pulling off a goofiness that made sense. If that makes any sense. I was upset that the new Mandy was so dialed back, the character regressed. Always loved the vlogs. Amazing writers!
Yes, I understand her wanting to be a mother but she shouldn't have had to give up her dream to be a fashion designer. That was a low blow to women IMO.

The new actress was left just to be goofy & date Kyle. She pulled off the goofiness well, and the Kyle relationship which Molly-Christoph duo were excellent at was always hard to replace esp w/o building it coz writers build relationship over seasons, She did that decently.

I started out watching Last Man Standing for Tim Allen I love his work. However I fell for Molly and was devastated that she couldn't return.
I liked both Mandys. I felt the new Mandy had better chemistry with Kyle her husband. I mean both of them were great at their respective roles, but stuff happens. My only real question is how a show can be the second highest rated on a network and dropped. I like this show. It is an opportunity to showcase valid but different viewpoints. Maybe it could bridge people on different sides of the political aisle, and help them realize that the other side are not mustache twirling Disney villains but people who have a different opinion of what will help the people and nation as a whole. I honestly thought the episode where Ryan was forced to understand that sometimes big government and regulation can get in the way of growing a business for the benefit of the customers and employees was great. I thought it was interesting that Tim had a instance where he wanted someone in the US illegally to stay. Challenging preconceived notions and allowing people to humanize others with different viewpoints is critical for a nation to unite as a whole in a positive way.
The original Mandy was fabulous and fun to watch, while her replacement is killing the show. Too stupid not funny, Kyle is now the brains in that relationship...not right.
Molly WAS Mandy. It about ruined the show when they lost her.

Honestly it took a while but the new Mandy is pretty great and I find her to be funnier than the original. But they are different and I respect your feelings toward the original Mandy, she was better at being the ditzy fashionista.
The new Mandy has "smart" moments which is contradicting to the characters personality.
TV producers can mess up a wet dream with all the nonsense. Truth be told, the seasons with Molly Ephraim - pronounced 'Ef•ra•yim' (From the Hebrew tribe name) was a rocket and is /will/ and remain a far better an actress than 'The Giraffe' McCook. You cant replace a personality.... even though you cast a 'new person' for the character. Mc cook is not nor can be ...'Mandy'.

The original Mandy will always have a special place in my heart and in my opinion she isn't replaceable. I don't mind the new actress playing her, but it lost something without Molly. As for the first girl who played the oldest Daughter "Kristin" (Alexandra) the reason I like her better is because she looks like she could actually be the sister of the other two girls. Having said that I like Amanda (the current Kristin) and I take to her better than the Mandy replacement. I just thought Alexandra had a better fit, and I thought she was quite adorable as well. Love the youngest Daughter and I am glad she wasn't replaced but instead used a little less on the show because she found other work.

Agree, agree, agree. The eldest girl first played by Alexandra really did look like she could be the daughter of her parents on the show. Very believable. The replacement, Amanda Fuller, is very clearly NOT related to her parents. Molly Ephraim with her black hair is stretching her believability of being a daughter. But maybe, maybe. Kaitlyn Dever could easily be a real daughter too. I know the show is made up fiction fantasy. But it is better if the fiction is somewhat believable.

I just like the show from start to finish. The last episode kind of felt “odd” the way it just abruptly ended the show. I like just about everything Tim Allen has been in. Great actor surrounded by others putting out a great show.
But he was kind of the reason it stopped for 3 years. He made out there salary demands.
I love this show- I love the characters- and I wish they could go on forever. I know that’s not possible and I feel like “family “programming has taken a dive lately but Tim Allen gives such a great performance as a down to earth dad who cares about family and family values and I love that. I will miss this show immensely. 🥺

Yeah, no it was pretty clear why it was. It was one of the top-rated shows with steady and healthy viewing numbers. It was pulled because Hollywood hates anything that disturbs their narrative; and since Mike Baxter is a character that is clearly a conservative, white, heterosexual, Christian male means he had to go away. It was the fans that brought that show back. I’m actually quite surprised it did.
@Christopher Laughlin The comedy is pretty evenhanded as these things go.If it was just another pro-liberal all the time kind of thing they wouldn't have gotten Tim Allen and it would have been two seasons and done. If it was just in your face pro-conservatism it wouldn't be as good as it is. Tims character (Mike) has mellowed and Jordans (Ryan) has actually had to become a grown up and realize you have to work for stuff and life ain't fair. Fairly well crafted arcs for a sitcom. All the characters have grown on this show.
They could handle Tim Allen's character bashing Hillary, at first, because they believed he would be eating his words. Then Hillary lost, and they couldn't handle being reminded of it every week. Trump derangement syndrome is a very real thing, and it's only going to get worse when Trump wins again.
Tim Allen is a Republican. That was a factor.

ABC cancelled LMS for the same reason that they fired Roseann Barr, politics. LMS was their # 2 rated show and Roseann had unprecedented ratings for a sitcom with both shows making making ABC hundreds of millions of dollars. Roseann was fired for making a comparison of Valerie Jarrett to Zira from the original Planet of the Apes. No body that I know knew that Jarrett was black and if you look at a split screen of Jarrett and Zira, the resemblance is uncanny. potentially
The fact that ABC had to pay to show the show was much more important than politics. you have to remember that Bob Chapek has had a major role in where Disney spend its's money and while not directly involved at ABC he would still be involved if money was at stake. He has cut and cut at Disney where he felt he could save money and was never quiet about what he perceived as waste in any part of Disney. If politics had been a factor then Tim Allen would have been cut from other Disney projects and he wasn't.
I'm sure there will be some that say politics is the reason Last Man Standing has been cut again. But just like Home Improvement the primary driving force of the at home family dynamic has gone as the family has aged and left. It's the same with all of these kind of shows from the moment they are conceived then they begin to die.
I thought the same about Roseanne's comment. I have never watched the show again after they fired her. It was despicable and the cast of that show, who she gave careers to , should be ashamed of themselves for not standing by her and supporting her.

The Kristen transition worked. The “new” Mandy just never sold the role for me.

I really miss Molly Ephraim she was perfect as Mandy, it's still better than other Hollywood garbage shows that are on now.
They shouldn't have re-cast Mandy. They should have had her accepted to design school in New York and focused more on the foreign exchange student. They could have even had a different one each year or two with them popping in from time to time for holidays. You just can't replace Mandy/Molly.

Katlin Deever is pretty amazing - making time for this old show when she can to appear for a few episodes. That is so unusual in the industry today - and it shows how the cast must get along for her to want to come back as time permits. ABC canceled it for political reasons. With 10 million viewers it was highly rated. Today it still get 9 million viewers on average and it is still a highly rated show on FOX.
BS, it was on the air for long then most shows. If they wanted it dead they would not have left it on for so long. It was all about money.

This show was on TV in Russia, and I wached it till the end. And as a person who is not involved in your poliitics (although some peope think we are 😉) I can say it was a very good show and a lot of people like it here. It teaches that the family and reliable close friends are the most important things in our life. And it comes so natural to understand it so I don't get just why some people are negative about such simple things.
Just like Mike Baxter, Eve was my favorite.

I am in love with this show. However I hated the fact that they changed the character Mandy Baxter. I am still not used to Molly Mccook cause she ain't really selling it. The character change of Carol did not sting me as much but it would be nice to see her for just one more episode. Isn't Kaitlyn Dever the best, she really loved last man standing as much as we did that she is not ready to say goodbye to us. She is my favourite character alongside the famous Mike Baxter. If those two would leave the show it wouldn't be the same. This is an amazing show for it does not hold back, they stand their ground and are not afraid to speak. I am really looking forward to the future seasons.

I can't believe that a show of real quality and texture would be pulled from our living rooms. Fox as usual doesn't have a clue what they have walked away from. This was by far way ahead of any competition, but oh well I guess all good things must come to an end, and the garbage continues!
The new Mandy absolutely SUX! .. Molly Ephraim was so much better in that role, she just fit it perfectly. I'm not dissing on the new Mandy, she is probably a great actress but she just doesn't fit the part at all, she just doesn't pull it off like Molly did.

I love this show. It's one of the few there day's that is actually funny. Tim Allen is awesome. Love all the people on the show as well. So happy they had enough sense to bring it back.

Kaitlin Denver is an outstanding actress who in my humble opinion will win multiple Oscars. Really that good! Glad they are smart enough on this show that they let her spread her wings and she’s nice enough to come back to a show and cast that she appreciates.
Amanda Fuller does a great job as Kristan but Molly McCook as Mandy is too different from the original. Kaitlyn Dever was great as Eve.

I absolutely adore Amanda Fuller! Losing Molly Ephraim was tough for me to get over and I supported Molly McCook for stepping in and up. Caitlin Dever is a Trooper and I'm glad she appears. Krista Marie Yu has brought a new dimension to the show and the rest of the regular cast are all outstanding!
I love Tim Allen and Last Man Standing. I agree with most that the new Mandy is a disaster. I honestly think it is the actress herself that just can’t deliver the Mandy personality. She is just awkward. We know the writing is great from the previous characters. Just find a new Mandy ! Please!!!

Should have done Mandy like they did Eve, write her into the show when she's available. Can't watch new Mandy, not after 7 seasons of character development. It's just uncomfortable to watch.
The one cast changed that they did get right was making Amanda Fuller, the character of Kristen Baxter. She was a much better fit and more believable than the original actress. She also had chemistry with the other members of the cast. You could see it in the scenes that they shared on screen. The first girl to play Kristen was OK. But she would’ve been better in a role if Kristen had been younger and was no child. You could’ve believed her as that character. Much as it was touched on in this video, I do believe she was too young to play the part. But when you brought in Amanda Fuller. She was Kristen. She was lovable, and she was a breath of fresh air into the shell and the character.
It was clearly canceled (originally) for political reasons. In a industry that is very left leaning. A show that stars a very right leaning actor is on borrowed time.
I love the show and don't agree a bit with "Mike" 's ideas. But it's comedy. Don't need to agree to enjoy the show. Politics in entertainment is terrible.

Perhaps the salary of the actor got too steep. Perhaps the audience just didn't tune in when ratings were being monitored. Perhaps it WAS the one sided political indoctrination. For whatever reason, you can't go back, and you can't stay in the present forever. THAT is why shows end, so NEW shows can be viewed; because after a while, the storyline gets sadly repeated or loses topics.
This show was basically Tool Time with all daughters instead of sons. A masculine oriented job that is more about appeal than actual ability, with a "boys will be boys" mentality A wife that is the punchline set up. Kids that look to dad for approval and wisdom, and mom to keep dad in check. A neighbor, wise but still in need of Tim/Mike validation.
Not saying it was the worst show, just that it was cookie cutter made for the star.
This is my favorite show on the Networks, I think that this is just like a typical family that gets angry and yells, and drinks. There is no other show on like it, and I will miss this after the next season. Of course, I keep watching reruns on other networks, and still laugh at the jokes.
They should have just written Mandy out and said she went somewhere and brought her back once and awhile

The only reason people have accepted so many changes of the cast is because the writing on this show has been good consistently. Whenever I feel low, I watch this show. Even Seinfeld was not that consistent in later seasons.

We continue to watch it daily - we can almost recite the words! Yes, there were a lot of changes, but the main theme of the show stayed - I was amazed at how Mike evolved himself over the 9 seasons - in fact in almost every show, he started with his own opinion and by the end, he was working to help others. Hysterical! Yes, the old Mandy leaving was tough - but the actors had to do something to make money. We finish watching Season 9, then go back to Season 1 and watch again! This was inciteful as to why the show was cancelled from ABC.
You would think, when replacing a celebrity that has been on for a while, the least they could do is match their characteristics instead of giving the part to someone who is the complete opposite!
Kind of like the old Darren and the new Darren on “Bewitched.”

It would have been better if they just had fuller as an older sister that wasn't mentioned, old Kristen could have moved to Canada with Ryan leaving it open for old Kristen to come back. Binge watched the whole series recently its amazing to watch new Kristen from the first to last series pile on the pounds, like serious beef. That ass is now a couch. Still attractive weirdly.
Or just write a new character for the show

What would be great is if they did a '10 years later' type of TV special. The thing I liked most about the show was the relationship between Mike & Vanessa. Argue & disagree as much as they did, but loved each other until & their family without question. That's a relationship I think we'd all love

I miss the original Mandy and we love Tim Allen so we never missed an episode and we watch reruns all the time waiting on that new season.The real shame is that the 2021 Season will be the LAST SEASON because it’s Not coming back again. The BEST SHOW ON TV will only be available in reruns.😢😪

I was sad to see them leave but just plain "HAPPY!" that the show was able to remain on TV! With so much mess on TV Last man standing is one of the VERY few TV shows I will watch!
Kaitlyn Dever was fantastic as a girl from Kentucky on "justified" I really like that show!

I loved the program. The humor was outstanding. Very good moral program. Every character was a star. The program was a good example of a functioning family.
Never watched the Fox episodes, without Kaitlyn Dever and especially Molly Ephraim, the show was just not the same. The new Mandy just doesnt make it as Mandy. Molly Ephraim developed the Mandy character and NO one else can play it the same. Replacing Eve with a little foreign exchange student doesn't cut it either.
I miss Eve and Mandy... two smokin hot ladies!

The original Mandy was priceless and played that part to a "T"! She is missed for sure but we move on and have been getting better aquatinted with the new "Mandy"! She is getting better creating her own style that works. Hope the old Mandy is killing it wherever she is.

Last Man Standing is one of the best shows to air on TV and certainly one the top comedies. ABC screwed-up whatever their reasons might have been.
ABC was too afraid of upsetting all those liberal democrats with Tims' very Republican views. The Fox network obviously wasn't afraid to let Tim Allen express his Constitutional right to freedom of speech.

ABC aired the show but it was always owned by Fox, and when you pay for production of a show that you don’t own the ratings needs to be better than what season 6 had on ABC. Same reason Fox cancelled Brooklyn 99. It was an NBC owned show.
