Karachi Gora Qabrastan | Oldest Christian Cemetery in Karachi | Kanwar Naeem

The cemetery was founded during the colonial period. It hosts graves from the nineteenth century. A tomb for a woman was also built by her husband in this cemetery. The graveyard has many beautiful fairy idols and other objects carved out of stone which makes it look like European cemeteries. You will find graves of British government officials and other public officeholders in this graveyard. Asia's largest cross is also in this graveyard. This 2-acre graveyard has the honor of having the grave of Dr. Ruth Pfau. A British collector of Karachi erected a tomb for his wife who died in a road accident in the early 1900s.
The graveyard is beautiful but it is badly neglected and unattended as it serves as a waste bin for the adjacent houses, you'll find diapers, alcohol bottles, and dogs on the graves. The cemetery is in dire need of renovation but the administration does not seem interested.

7:11 During British raj many ppl converted to Christianity,as a lot of missionaries from Uk and other parts of the world came to preach, maybe he was a convert thats why his sikh surname otherwise sikh do not have graves they burn their dead. 👍
