Roy was a great friend to Johnny Cash and lived next door. One day, while Roy was on tour, his house burned down and two of his sons died in the fire. Roy went into his parents house and didn't come out for a couple of years - until Johnny talked him into coming out. Johnny bought the lot where the house had been so strangers would never live where his sons had died. Johnny planted a grape arbor. Years later, when the surviving son grew up, Johnny gave the land to him. Many musicians respected Roy! Everyone playing those guitars are world class musicians with their own solo careers!
I never heard the story about Johnny Cash. Thank you for sharing it. What a beautiful gesture. Roy survived so much tragedy, with his first wife dying in a motorcycle accident and then this fire taking 2 of his boys. 😢
I knew about the tragedy of his sons dying in a house fire (and about what happened to his wife too), but I never knew about the part that Johnny Cash played in it. That has really touched me. That's such a kind and lovely thing to do ❤
Only part of that story I never heard was where Roy locked himself in his parents house... I always heard he poured himself into his career to keep himself busy to deal with his grief...
On September 30, 1987, Orbison, then 51, staged a remarkable comeback concert with the help of guest musicians whom he had influenced: Jackson Browne, T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, k.d. lang, Bonnie Raitt, J.D. Souther, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Jennifer Warnes.
Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and Steven Soles. The female background vocalists were k.d. lang, Jennifer Warnes, and Bonnie Raitt.
Met Roy Orbison once - got to chat with him for about five minutes - he appeared on Joan rivers Show and performed In Dreams - I walked him back to his dressing room. He was so kind and humble - the crowd gave him a standing ovation and yet he stopped me and asked "How was it? I never know. I'm so focused on the song I can never tell if its any good." I was stunned. "You did awesome," I told him, "When you are at home to night watching, you'll be happy." "Good," he replied, "Thanks, that take a load off my mind." Such a cool experience.
Back & White Night has been one of my all time favorite performances. If you haven't watched the entire concert, I highly recommend it. Orbison was a fabulous song writer and performer in his own right. The additional talent on stage, playing all Orbison songs, is such a wonderful tribute.
When Elvis Presley says this is the greatest singer, I’ve ever heard that’s one hell of a compliment !! Roy Orbison can capture your soul with his voice ! Just to show you how incredible Roy Orbison was he’s got a hell of a crew back in them up in the black and white nights ! Superstars playing backup for the incomparable Roy Orbison.. amazing
If you were on the stage with Roy Orbison for this show, you were a Superstar in the music world. In addition to the folks listed below by others, the Drummer was Ron Tutt, who used to Drum for Elvis Presley, the First Elvis, and you were right, that was Billy Idol in the audience, but not on the stage. LOL. Tom Waits on the Keys, Bonnie Raitt as a backup singer, WOW!
Roy was still only 51 when he recorded this show, around the time when The Travelling Wilburys were recording. He passed away 14 months later Roy's backing band was the TCB Band, which accompanied Elvis Presley from 1969 until his death in 1977: Glen Hardin on piano, James Burton on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass, and Ronnie Tutt on drums. Male background vocalists, some of whom also joined in on guitar and keyboards, included Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and Steven Soles. The female background vocalists were k.d. lang, Jennifer Warnes, and Bonnie Raitt. During the end credits, several of the band members are shown talking about how Orbison influenced them. Several other celebrity admirers of Orbison were in the audience, including David Lynch, Billy Idol, Patrick Swayze, Billy Bob Thornton, Sandra Bernhard and Kris Kristofferson.
"Oh, Pretty Woman" is undoubtedly one of the most acclaimed rock n' roll songs of all time. Written by Roy Orbison with his faithful guitarist Bill Dees, the song quickly became one of the main hits in the artist's career. It was released in August 1964 as a single from the album of the same name and was inspired not precisely by Julia Roberts but rather by Orbison's wife, Claudette. On September 30, 1987 at the age of 51, Roy Orbison held a spectacular concert that marked his return after a long time out of the public spotlight and that included the participation of a constellation of great artists whom the musician had influenced, among them: Jackson Browne, T Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, K.D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt, J.D. Souther, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Jennifer Warnes among others. This extraordinary session was later turned into a television special entitled "Roy Orbison and Friends, A Black and White Night" which was broadcast on the Cinemax network in January 1988 a few months before the musician's death. In 1991, the Grammys would posthumously award Roy Orbison in the category of Best Male Pop Vocal Performance precisely for this magnificent session, from which we can extract this fabulous version of "Oh, Pretty Woman" characterized by a legendary guitar counterpoint between none other than James Burton and Bruce Springsteen.
The first guitar solo artist is the famous James Burton, who was the lead guitarist for Elvis Presley, which is why all the rest of the stars on stage took a back seat, they idolized him.
I've seen this video a lot and I just realized that is James Burton on guitar, Ronnie Tutt on drums, Jerry Scheff on bass & Glen Hardin on piano members of Elvis' TCB band
On stage....Glen Hardin on piano, James Burton on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass, and Ronnie Tutt on drums. Male background vocalists, some of whom also joined in on guitar and keyboards, included Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and Steven Soles. Roy Orbison and Friends: A Black and White Night is a 1988 Cinemax television special originally broadcast on January 3, 1988, presenting a performance by singer/songwriter Roy Orbison and the TCB Band with special guests including Bruce Springsteen, k.d. lang and others. The special was filmed entirely in black and white. After the broadcast, the concert was released on VHS and Laserdisc, and a live album was released in 1989. Background The special consisted of a performance of many of Orbison's hits at the Ambassador Hotel's Cocoanut Grove nightclub in Los Angeles, filmed on September 30, 1987, approximately fourteen months before his death. Three songs ("Blue Bayou", "Claudette", and "Blue Angel") were filmed but not included in the original broadcast due to time constraints. Orbison's backing band was the TCB Band, which accompanied Elvis Presley from 1969 until his death in 1977: Glen Hardin on piano, James Burton on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass, and Ronnie Tutt on drums. The following morning at 7:42am, a violent 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck the Whittier section of Los Angeles. Several chandeliers in the ballroom had collapsed on the master film and videotape recordings that had captured the performance. When the wreckage was cleared, no damage had been done.
Deep Dive on that stage alone , Tom Waits on piano , Bruce Springsting , Elvis Costello..... OH MY!!!! Just the beginning and they left their ego's at the door!! Amazing!!!!
Pretty much everyone on that stage is a star, a unique musician in their own right. Half the people in the audience are stars. Roy Orbison is a megastar amongst the other stars, and everyone wanted to work with him on this special, and if they couldn't, they wanted to watch it happen. It was a magical HBO special, huge.
..."Class of 76"...Roy Orbison was one of the 4 that toured together across the south and midwest under the Sun Label..Johnny Cash, Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis and Roy...also June Carter. They played movie theaters, churches, county fairs and anywhere they could play...
Thank you man. I didn't even know this video existed. There are so many stars singing with Him. I believe I saw Jackson brown and JD sother as well.As bruce springsteen and several others.
The gentleman in the white coat is James Burton, started in the 50's in Rickie Nelson's band, was in Elvis's band, not too well known outside the music industry, is a legend in the world wide - - even the Shadows were influenced by him
JD Souther...John David "J.D." Souther (born November 2, 1945)[2] is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He has written and co-written songs recorded by Linda Ronstadt and Eagles. Souther is known for his songwriting abilities, especially in the field of country rock. He co-wrote some of the biggest hits for Eagles, including "Best of My Love", "Victim of Love", "Heartache Tonight", and "New Kid in Town". "How Long", which appears on Eagles' Long Road Out of Eden, was written by Souther and originally recorded on his first solo album in 1972. Souther recorded two major hit songs in his solo career: "You're Only Lonely" (1979) and "Her Town Too" (1981), a duet with his longtime friend James Taylor.
Black & White Night Performers Roy Orbison in concert with guests Jackson Browne, T-Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, k.D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt, Steven Soles, J.D. Souther, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Jennifer Warnes. Band members are Alex Cuna, percussion; James Burton, guitar (Ricky Nelson, Elvis, John Denver, Emmy Lou Harris, Touring Band); Glenn D. Hardin, piano (Elvis, John Denver, Emmy Lou Harris Touring Band); Jerry Scheff, bass (Elvis Touring Band); Ron Tutt, drums (Elvis and Neil Diamond Touring Bands); and Mike Utley, keyboards
Tom Wait was on piano,Jackson Browne and Bruce Springsteen were together on one mic.,oh heck ,here is the rest of the roster from that night: T. Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello,k.d. lang,Bonnie Raitt,J. D. Souther, and Jennifer Warnes. I think PBS is showing the full 1987 concert on their stations.
Loved Roy - This actually reminded me of a performance here in Australia at a concert called 'Australian Made' and INXS and Jimmy Barnes sang their hit song together 'Good Times' (I remember it was in a vampire type move soundtrack years ago) great song but exceptional voices and even the back up singers on stage and the musicians were also legends of Aussie music such as Chrissie Amphlett of the Divinyls - it's really worth a listen - don't know anyone who does not love this and could party to it as we all did
That's one of the most talent packed stages of all-time. You know you've got some sway in the industry when you can get Tom Waits to just sit there and play keys for you.
You reacted to The Bee Gees a couple of times. Barry Gibb and Larry Gatlin of The Gallin brothers wrote a song called Indian Summer. It was recorded with a shared lead of Roy Orbison and Larry Gatlin with the Gatlin Brothers and Barry on backing. Great song.
There's so much talent on that damn stage. Roy, Bruce, James Burton, Jackson Brown, Billy Joel... it's ridiculous. Guy on the far left in white is James Burton -- he was in Elvis' band. Played on tons of hit records from the 60's through today. Amazing guitarist.
You see the guy on keyboard in the background, his name is Tom Waits he is a great, great songwriter, my second favorite after Dylan, he is also an unusual songwriter, he has had two distinct careers, 1974 to 1984 he was a piano blues jazzy songwriter and 1984 to present more of an avant garde artist. You should definitely check him out.
The dude with the beard is J. D. Souther. He had a hand in some top music in the early to mid 70's. He co-wrote several hit songs with the Eagles, and with James Taylor along with others. He had a folk duo band with Glen Frey called Longbranch Pennywhistle before Glen started the Eagles. He had one big hit for himself called "You're Only Lonely". Great song, in my opinion. You should check it out.
The guitarist in the white coat was Elvis Presley’s guitarist and leader for the TCB band which was Presley’s back up band. Thanks for the great reaction.
Roy was an inspiration for most of the star studded backup cast in this performance, I'm sure most of them found it an honor to be a part of it. On the left is Jackson Browne and Springsteen, on the right J.D. Souther and Elvis Costello, Tom Waits on piano, T Bone Burnett in the white jacket, backround vocals by K.D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt and Jennifer Warnes. There may have even been a few other musicians of note that I missed, a great tribute to a rock icon!
Thanks for this. Roy Orbison was well-regarded by other performers but never Presley, Beyonce, Springsteen superstar status. The "biggies" came together this special night to be Orbison's band and let him be the headliner.
I love the black and white video. Roy may have been Elvis's favorite singer. They both go back to Sun Records in Memphis. That was fantastic. Thank you.
J. D. Souther was friends with the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt and many others in the L. A. music scene. He wrote some songs with the Eagles. He grew up in Amarillo Texas.
Star studded is an understatement. The Dude With the Beard behind Bruce is JD Souther, a prolific songwriter and producer who wrote or co-wrote songs for the Eagles, Bonnie Raitt, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor, and perhaps most famously one of Linda Ronstadt's best songs, Faithless Love.
Hey! Kathy here , 3:58. I love Roy and his music. I am 69 years old and grew up with his music. Haven't heard songs by him in years. Thanks for reminding me of how great he was! There were a lot of guest stars on that stage with him during this concert. I can't remember them unless I did a little research! I'm pretty good with names, but it has been a long time since this concert was out! Thanks for the reaction! Have a great weekend!😊😊
In 1980 while in the Navy I was walking by a venue where Roy was playing in Frisco, and a really nice car pulled up with a doctor in it who gave me his ticket to the show since he was called in to work. One of the best evenings I had while in the service!! (It was a $30 front row seat)..
The entire band was onstage with Roy for the whole show. You’ve done the Wilburys, you should also hit Roy’s comeback hit, You’ve Got It from his Mystery Girl album. I saw him live not long before he passed, great band and show!
I was in my high school jazz band and when a group of musicians gets in a collective, unspoken groove, it’s a great feeling. You can tell these guys are having so much fun!
Billy Idol, Patrick Swayze, Billy Bob Thornton, Sandra Bernhard, David Lynch, and Kris Kristofferson were some who attended, Orbison's backing band was the TCB Band, which accompanied Elvis Presley from 1969 until his death in 1977: Glen Hardin on piano, James Burton on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass, and Ronnie Tutt on drums. (I had to look this up, I did recognise some of the celebrities)
Roy Orbison was born in 1936 and the original "Pretty Woman" was released in 1964, so he was just 28 years when the song was #1 for 3 weeks. He also had hits with "Only the Lonely," "Running Scared," and "Crying," and "In Dreams." Lost his wife and two small children in a housefire in 1966 while he was on tour in England.
Roy is just incomprehensible! Amazing Musical Genius! Have a party, invite the Superstars, and they sing and play with you.🎉 Listen to more Roy Please. Also check out the FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS! AWESOME! Songs like: Tuff enuff! Wrap it up! Powerful Stuff! Kim Wilson will curl your toes and knock your socks off!!😊🙏🤟🍀😆🌹💖🦓
“Music scholars suggest that Orbison has a three-or four-octave range and his powerful, impassioned voice earns him the sobriquet “the Caruso of Rock.” In fact, The Big O and Enrico Caruso were the only 20th century tenors capable of hitting E over high C. In 1963, he opens for The Beatles, even though he didn’t know who they were, The opening night, he did 14 encores before The Beatles even performed. No pressure for The Beatles”
The stage AND the audience was a show of many, many artists that paid tribute. From the UK and Canada and other places, all were invited for this film special event. PBS tv typically does a full broadcast of this rock special once a year.
There’s a video of the Gatlin Brothers, Roy Orbison and Barry Gibbs. “Indian Summer” gorgeous harmonies. Barry seems starstruck with Orbison. Beautiful music.
H PRETTY WOMAN from The Black and White Night Concert. Features James Burton and Roy Orbison and Bruce Springsteen on guitars. The all-star band wasn't just thrown together; they were Roy's friends and each had a special musical connection to him. It was filmed in Los Angeles at the famous Cocoanut Grove Nightclub in the Ambassador Hotel. A favorite haunt of hollywood stars, gangsters and several U.S. Presidents, the venue hosted many Academy Awards. To the left side of of stage was the kitchen where John F Kennedy's brother, Robert Kennedy, was assassinated in June 1968. James Burton: Lead guitar Glen D. Hardin: Piano Jerry Scheff: Upright bass Ronnie Tutt: Drums Alex Acuña: Percussion Mike Utley: Keyboards
I saw Roy Orbison at a record hop at The Surf Nantasket in Hull Massachusetts in 1961 or 62. I was maybe 13 yrs. old. Arnie Ginsburg of the Night Train Show on radio station WMEX 1510 in Boston gave me the tickets. I didn't know who he was until he started singing "Only the Lonely", then I knew he was A7 on the juke box at Almy's Dept. Store in Salem. Been a fan since then and always kept his music! His voice never changed while he sang. The Black & White Night happened about 25 years later when The Big "O" was 51yrs.old. He died 14 months later if my memory serves me well! We still miss him and the music he would have written and sang Black Pegasus!
That guitar player in white is James Burton; legendary guitar player and best known as Elvis' guitarist. Check out his psychedelic, paisley guitar, too! He's the coolest. Bruce gotta be in heaven, getting to "trade 4s" with the legend there, being a youngster at the time.
when you look closely at the pianist it is Composer David foster whom you will remember from the "Tell Him" Video with Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion.
Go to Ray Orbison UA-cam channel. They all played back up to him for the entire show. Several videos of that show. Good catch of Billy Idol in the audience! You are learning. Fun to watch you go with it!
superb, super group! elvis costello on backup vocals - check out "alison" i think the guitarist in the white shirt is steve cropper - check out "green onions" or "time is tight"
Thanks so much for doing this one. I've never seen it before......absolutely fabulous! Learned a few things by reading the comments, I always do. That guitar break in the middle was super amazing; love live performances when extra stuff happens that we don't get in the original recordings. I always enjoy your channel, you bring so much to the table.
This was a show to pay tribute to Roy Orbison, with all these great performances. That first guitar player was James Burton one of the best guitarists ever!
The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways Like a vision, she dances across the porch as the radio plays Roy Orbison singing for the lonely Hey, that's me, and I want you only Don't turn me home again I just can't face myself alone again. Thunder Road : Bruce Springsteen

I didn't know Roy's backstory, either. So much tragedy...😔And Johnny Cash was one class act.
his wife was also hit by a truck in 1966 she died in his arms

YES!!
Very, well said.
only 51! and they thought he was old then ))
Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits, Elvis Costello, Jackson Browne, J.D. Souther and Steven Soles. The female background vocalists were k.d. lang, Jennifer Warnes, and Bonnie Raitt.
Oh and four guys from Elvis's band.
Billy Idol in the audience, too
Elvis Costello re-wrote a different version of "The Comedians" for Roy
Always wondered why they didn't let Bonnie Raitt play guitar with the boys. She could play rings around most of them!
Pretty much everybody on the stage is in the Rock Hall of Fame.

Elvis Costello came away from that day buzzing ❤
I believe that by this point in Roy Orbison's life he was also cutting tracks with "The Traveling Wilburys" - another pre-eminent "super group"....
Yeah BP did a react to them a week or so ago, check it out
Love all these performers. Roy Orbison, Bruce Springsteen and backup k.D. Lang, Bonnie Riatt

It makes me think of Earle Scruggs and Friends, "Foggy Mountain Breakdown". Different genre; same vibe. Masters of the art enjoying playing together.
I stumbled upon this one night on TV, what a night ! Pretty damn good band he out together ✌️
What a delight! I had a smile on my face this whole video. I don't think Springtsteen has ever looked so happy!

Yes Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, JD Souther,Elvis Costello , this was a great small concert.
Black & White Night Performers
Roy Orbison in concert with guests Jackson Browne, T-Bone Burnett, Elvis Costello, k.D. Lang, Bonnie Raitt, Steven Soles, J.D. Souther, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Waits and Jennifer Warnes.
Band members are Alex Cuna, percussion; James Burton, guitar (Ricky Nelson, Elvis, John Denver, Emmy Lou Harris, Touring Band); Glenn D. Hardin, piano (Elvis, John Denver, Emmy Lou Harris Touring Band); Jerry Scheff, bass (Elvis Touring Band); Ron Tutt, drums (Elvis and Neil Diamond Touring Bands); and Mike Utley, keyboards
❤Everyone loves Roy. He was a super influential legend and loved to perform with others
Isnt it wonderful that we have the ability to watch videos like this .....fantastic ❤❤❤
Drummer is Ronnie Tutt, Elvis’ drummer from 1969 until Elvis’ death in 1977…the inspiration for Animal on Sesame Street, or so I’ve been told.
@@tomlivesay8407 oh wow, I didn't know he was the supposed influence for Animal... that's pretty cool!
@@american_cosmic yep, in the early 70’s, he had long hair, below his shoulders, he had a beard, and he could really get all over those drums.
You see the guy on keyboard in the background, his name is Tom Waits he is a great, great songwriter, my second favorite after Dylan, he is also an unusual songwriter, he has had two distinct careers, 1974 to 1984 he was a piano blues
jazzy songwriter and 1984 to present more of an avant garde artist.
The Great James Burton!
You need to see "Crying" from this same black and white concert...with k.d.lang...
Absolutely! Please do this one soon!
My favorite version of Crying is him with k.d. lang.
I watched this whole program on PBS. It was awesome
Thank you.
Yes it was Bruce Springsteen & Billy Idol. Probably a lot more famous guitarists too!! Incredible. Love Roy Orbison!!!!!!
there is NO billy idol on the stage. he was in the audience.
@@joelanderos23 My apologies!!!
That's a very young Jackson Browne on stage, too! Please do his song, The Load Out/Stay! It's one for the Classic forever playlist!
Facts
THis that Live BBC show video is as close to a perfect performance as you can get
J. D. Souther was friends with the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt and many others in the L. A. music scene. He wrote some songs with the Eagles. He grew up in Amarillo Texas.
This was when he was making a comeback and was doing it. He wrote "You got it", "I drove All Night" and others just before he died.
This is so very awesome! Those were the days! Love your reaction!
In Roy's band on drums is Elvis's drummer Ronny Tutt and lead guitarist James Burton.
Believe it or not this little exclusive concert was a gift to Roy Orbison from Bruse Springsteen for his Birthday.
Fantastic! So many talents together! ❤
James Burton in the white jacket..Elvis’s guitar player..the best! Great performance!
Love Roy Orbison, saw him in concert when I was in junior high. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see you react to Chris Ladoux and also Hardy
I was in my high school jazz band and when a group of musicians gets in a collective, unspoken groove, it’s a great feeling. You can tell these guys are having so much fun!
The best music! 60’s,70’s80’s. Great times to be alive. I am almost 80 and this never gets old. Enjoy❤️🌻. So glad you are learning 🎶🎺
Love this song and performance
Billy Idol, Patrick Swayze, Billy Bob Thornton, Sandra Bernhard, David Lynch, and Kris Kristofferson were some who attended, Orbison's backing band was the TCB Band, which accompanied Elvis Presley from 1969 until his death in 1977: Glen Hardin on piano, James Burton on lead guitar, Jerry Scheff on bass, and Ronnie Tutt on drums. (I had to look this up, I did recognise some of the celebrities)
The guy in the white sports coat is James Burton, legendary guitar player. Years with Elvis and before that with Ricky Nelson.
Always loved the growl. Gets me even now.
Roy is just incomprehensible! Amazing Musical Genius! Have a party, invite the Superstars, and they sing and play with you.🎉
Listen to more Roy Please.
Also check out the FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS! AWESOME!
Songs like:
Tuff enuff! Wrap it up! Powerful Stuff!
Kim Wilson will curl your toes and knock your socks off!!😊🙏🤟🍀😆🌹💖🦓
That's James Burton in the white jacket, demonstrating how a Telecaster is played.
Guitarist in white shirt was Elvis's guitarist and the drummer also was in Elvis's band.
The guy in white playing the guitar is James Burton and the drummer is Ronny Tutt, they both played in Elvis's band!
That's why I was surprised that you didn't notice it sooner Bruce Springsteen listening to Roy Orbison's reactions
This is a compilation of some of my favorite musicians. Roy Orbison was the thread that tied them all together.
Levon Helm was the guy with the beard in the back. Was the drummer/singer for The Band. Sang on The Weight and many other tracks.
This is an ALL STAR band!
This may be Roy's biggest hit, but "Only The Lonely" and "Crying" are just as good. "Running Scared" also topped the charts.
My favourite, ‘Running Scared’!
What a star studded stage, and what a performance. Roy still had it and the respect from all those with him.
James Burton: Lead guitar
Glen D. Hardin: Piano
Jerry Scheff: Upright bass
Ronnie Tutt: Drums
Alex Acuña: Percussion
Mike Utley: Keyboards
Once Roy Orbison gets into your soul, he never leaves.
Roy Orbison another Texas Rock Legend.
When Roy asks you to be on stage, you show up and got on stage!
Billy Idol was in the audience. This was filmed when Roy Was 51. He died 14 months later. The original broadcast was Jan of 1988 on Cinemax.
TY for the info! And BP, yup, good call - that was Billy Idol in the audience...👍
I love it when known singer jam just like they did in the 50s,60s etc
That guitar player in white is James Burton; legendary guitar player and best known as Elvis' guitarist. Check out his psychedelic, paisley guitar, too! He's the coolest. Bruce gotta be in heaven, getting to "trade 4s" with the legend there, being a youngster at the time.
Did you notice they are all wearing suit jackets and ties?..... love those days!!!
This song makes me smile :) great song :)
when you look closely at the pianist it is Composer David foster whom you will remember from the "Tell Him" Video with Barbara Streisand and Celine Dion.
Absolutely Awesome! Thank you BP❤
Go to Ray Orbison UA-cam channel. They all played back up to him for the entire show. Several videos of that show. Good catch of Billy Idol in the audience! You are learning. Fun to watch you go with it!
I Iove oh pretty woman and Roy Orbinson
superb, super group! elvis costello on backup vocals - check out "alison" i think the guitarist in the white shirt is steve cropper - check out "green onions" or "time is tight"
Classic! Classic Roy ❤
The bearded dude is JD Souther. You probably saw him playing for Linda Rondstadt.
The screen door slams, Mary's dress sways
Like a vision, she dances across the porch as the radio plays
Roy Orbison singing for the lonely
Hey, that's me, and I want you only
Don't turn me home again
I just can't face myself alone again. Thunder Road : Bruce Springsteen
In Dreams from this same performance is just flat out awesome
