    I have a 316i facelift '98 - It's not a racer or anything like it, but it's so nice to drive - even in traffic!
    I had a VW Polo GT from '92; a Golf from '99; Astra '02 and this one is the best so far.
    Goes and burns fuel almost the same as the others, but rear wheel drive, smooth and never overheats!
    Recommended for first car - the only car in the family that nobody crashed, ever!

      Power is not everything indeed. It's nice you are able to appreciate a car for the handling, balance and rear wheel drive :-) Thanks for the comment.

      Thinking of buying one 2000 e36 316i compact as my daily commuter. Really would like to buy one to enjoy the bmw feel which I used to get when driving my fathers e38.

    Just bought my second 318ti because I regretted selling my first '97 M Sport. This one is an Active Package 1998 that will be upgraded to M Sport specs for exterior trim, wheels, tires, shocks and sway bars, better speakers and a Business CD43 with Bluetooth - but will keep the full leather seats as the bolsters in the M Sport always wear poorly. Hopefully will add a Stromung exhaust as well. Just a blast to drive this 5 Speed which are getting really rare in stock condition. Fuel economy is exceptional at 27/33.

    If you can afford it, get a 323ti with M-package. I own mine for 1,5 years now and other than the normal old car repairs it's such a solid a reliable vehicle, even with over 245,000km. I average 9-10L/100km which isn't brilliant but the sound from that straight six is absolutely worth it.

      This, I really cant get rid of my 323ti, because there is literally no better car for sub 10000€ here. 260000km and still on par with a e46 330 0-100

      F G yeah, it's actually insane to have a 2,5 litre inline 6 in such a small hatchback! And you get a decent one for 3-5k euros. They'll go up in value very soon I believe.

    Bom trabalho, faltou apenas referir que a suspensão de trás é o mesmo sistema do E30, ao contrário do E36, dai querer-se mandar mais de traseira como referes no vídeo :)

      +Bruno Silva Bem apontado!!! Realmente o dono falou-me disso e esqueci-me de apontar! Terei de incluir essa informação quando lançar um artigo mais detalhado. Agradeço imenso a informação!

      A traseira baila, mas sente-se tudo tão bem, que é quse impossível perder o controlo.

      Carro maravilhoso! Tenho um e36 e um e87. O e36 faz me sentir ocmo um menino de 8 anos so' de sentar interior.

      +Daily Driver Reviews I subscribed to your channel to thank you for making this video. SO MANY PEOPLE hate the E36 compact but I'm really happy that you didn't hate it. My dad owns the m-sport E36 318ti compact with those same wheels, except the engine is a 1.9, not the 1.8 you had. Since he had it from 1999, it has only 50,000km because in Tokyo, most people drive cars on weekends. You're right, its not the most attractive from the outside or the inside, but they are pretty fun to drive with their short wheel base. If you treat them with respect, they can be reliable too. The people who hate the E36 compact don't realise that these things can be brilliant drift cars on a low budget. If they think its slow, they can always swap a different engine in.

      +smilepermile I appreciate your comment and it's great to have people like you as subscribers, interacting with my videos Thank you!!! :-D I also made a review of the Corolla AE86 and I can tell you they are equally fun to drive in both ways :-) People who hate on the E36 compact probably never drove it and with time I am sure that this car will gain some recognition. Also, great to know I have a subscriber from Japan, since I am a big fan of Japanese cars and culture! Greetings from Portugal!

    Why you would not recommend the diesel version?

    • @ALPHA-555
      @ALPHA-555 Рік тому +1

      I guess its because the only diesel engine available on the Compact is the 318TDS, it have only 90 hp, not very powerfull...

    Nice review, too bad that you didnt get to drive the "real" Ti, 2.5liter inline 6, and full m package (interior) ;) And about the m badge, you could atleast have put it on straight :D

    • @dailydriverreviews
      @dailydriverreviews  7 років тому

      Thank you! I didn't put it there, the owner of this car didn't put it there. It's there from factory.

      +Daily Driver Reviews No its not a factory item, its aftermarket. Stock badge is 323ti. And if it was factory, i would be in the correct m place and straight :D

    • @louiemalvessi
      @louiemalvessi 6 років тому

      I believe it's definitely not from factory. They didnt start with this M badge non-sense until the late 2000s! I have an e36 323 with m technik suspension and i see no badge anywhere, which I like!

    Gostei da critica, só não concordo na parte do 318 TDS "seria um tiro no joelho", este motor a diesel saiu em 1995 e até à altura com estas especificações não havia muita coisa que lhe fizesse frente, só passado um ano com o lançamento do Audi A3 1.9TDI 90cv, e este tinha uma performance muito semelhante ao BMW, mas sem o "fun factor" da tracção traseira. Mesmo para os dias de hoje este pequeno BMW a diesel, o seu desempenho é bastante aceitável. Claro que não se pode comparar com os seus irmãos a gasolina da altura. Esta motorização teve um pouco de má fama devido ao E36 318TDS Sedan, não que o motor seja mau, mas como a BMW é vista como uma marca desportiva estes eram puxados para alem dos seus limites e exigidas performances ás quais não tinham sido preparados, com a agravante do peso do veiculo versão Sedan.

      Essa do "tiro no joelho" tem a ver com uma piada corrente que eu tenho nos meus vídeos numa de não gostar de motores diesel. Brincadeiras à parte, não faz muito sentido para mim um desportivo (em que o objectivo é diversão e condução pé pesado) com um motor diesel. Na altura em que os motores M41 surgiram na BMW, a Toyota e Izusu já tinham unidades muito mais eficientes, económicas e que deixariam um 318tds envergonhado em quase qualquer situação. Já para não falar dos diesel super económicos da Mercedes-Benz, completamente à prova de bala. Comparado aos TDI da altura, seria equivalente sim, mas muitos outros fabricantes já estavam léguas à frente.
