One of the funniest comments I've ever seen on a Queen video was someone who said the other 3 look like rock stars-- John looks like he's walking through Home Depot looking for paint. He really hated the glam clothing and, after they hit it big he asked Freddie if he HAD to dress like, you know, a rock star (and this was in the 70's, when Freddie was still quite the peacock). Freddie told him absolutely not-- you dress however you want. Thus the famous blue/blue ensemble. Who doesn't love Deaky??
@@joandeluca6846 Omg, Joan. I saw a lot of these bands back in the day, and met some of them, through my work (as a teenager) in a record store. One of my best connections had the same last name as you. You wouldn't happen to have a relative named Grover, would you??
John in an interview: "I don't like meeting new people, but when I'm with Freddie I stop being shy! It's amazing how he "works" on me! He's the only one who understands me, Freddie is my voice, you know?" John Deacon
Freddie is looking back at Roger because Roger hated doing this song live, because the energy he put into playing the drums made singing into the mike really hard. It was Freddie's revenge for what has become known as the 'Cupboard Incident' where Roger locked himself in a storage cupboard at the studio until Freddie agreed to put 'I am in Love With My Car' on the B-side of the 'Bohemian Rhapsody' Single.
John Deacon was the youngest member, he was only 19 when he joined Queen. John had enrolled at the University of London studying Electrical Engineering when he first joined Queen. Though John had played in bands since he was young, when he first left home to go to Uni, he didn't even take his guitar (he was serious about his studies) but in the 2nd year, he took his guitar to school with him. He had missed it and wanted to play with groups on the weekend as a sort of hobby to unwind. He never had a desire to play in a rock band full time much less to be a rock star. Freddie, being 5 years older than John, took him under his wing and became his mentor. As the stardom of Queen rose, each of the members of Queen had difficulty adjusting to the life of a rockstar, and Freddie is created with helping John deal with it. They were extremely close. In the first couple of years, Queen struggled financially, Their gigs barely paid and they couldn't afford the equipment they really needed to make the sound they wanted. John applied his electronic engineering skill and built an electric guitar amplifier called the Deacy Amp. Walking home one night, he saw parts of an old portable radio in a trash bin and he took them home. Using the amplifier circuit board from the Supersonic PR80 radio he found, he fitted it into a speaker cabinet which was powered by a 9-volt battery and created the Deacy Amp. The amplifier had no volume or tone controls and for most of its history, it was never broken thus never repaired. It was used along with Brian May's Red Special electric guitar and treble-booster to produce sounds reminiscent of various orchestral instruments, such as violin, cello, trombone, clarinet, or even vocals, The Deacy Amp was used on about 95% of Queen's songs. John married his wife, Veronica, in 1975 and they have been married 46 years with 6 adult children. (5 boys and 1 girl). When Freddie passed away in 1991, John took it hard. He could see no point in continuing without Freddie, so he retired from performing, though he is still very much involved in the financial aspect of Queen, he now leads a quiet life in a small English village with his wife. All 4 members of Queen were strong individualists. They had different views and different tastes in music but they respected each other.. Though they all were "Rock" fans, they each had a favorite genre under the rock umbrella. John tended toward R&B/soul music. He pushed the group to perform disco style and funk ("Another One Bites The Dust") with Freddie's support when both Roger and Brian were extremely resistant (Roger hated disco).
Yes, Deaky was the quiet one in the bunch, the youngest, Roger was the party-going player, Brian was the only child turned family man and Freddie was... well he was GOAT!!! But they all became "family" of brothers and stayed together to the bitter end... We miss Freddie SO MUCH!!
Roger wrote this song about one of their roadies who really did love his car, but I love the lyrics: With my hand on your grease gun, but here he sings “Your hand on my Grease Gun” which gives it a WHOLE different context 😉 Naughty Roger. I’d love you to add Now I’m Here live at Wembley to your list. If you think Roger is working hard on his drums here, wait for it because he said it was exhausting, physically the hardest for him to play. There is a video out there called Now I’m Here Roger Cam, and during the whole song they used only the cameras that were focused on him, and all I can say is, that man must have some stamina! Loved your reaction, maybe go back and concentrate on the lyrics for both songs. Killer Queen in particular has incredibly clever lyrics, written about a high class call girl
leona i always laugh at brian when he was talking about this song and the making of it, he said laughing "roger was always into fast things, cars etc etc" 🤣🤣😉 obviously referring to his love for the ladies in his younger touring days!! 👑✊🇬🇧
Roger was proud of his vocals with Queen and he was the one who backed up Freddie the most. He also considered himself rock & roll. You should watch some Roger cams!
What makes this song even more iconic is knowing that the other members didn’t want to release this song so Roger locked himself in a cupboard until they agreed to put it as the b side to bohemian rhapsody 😂
Another great reaction Rad. John Deacon was the “quiet” member of the band. He and Freddie were very close. John was a reluctant rock star. I’ve read that when he joined the band he thought he might do it at weekends for a few years. A very clever man, he has a degree in electronics/engineering and built the Deaky amp which helps towards that signature Queen sound (something about the guitars feeding back). Although he’s quiet and shy by nature he was no pushover and had his firey side. Sadly now retired, he just wants to be left alone to live in peace with his family. He took Freddie’s death badly 😔
John was very close to his father, too, who sadly died suddenly when John was only 11. I know Freddie took him under his wing early on and was very protective of him, big-brotherly you might say. But I also wonder, with Freddie being the oldest of the 4 and John the youngest, if John didn't also find something of a father figure in Freddie, which he missed so much and needed so badly. I do believe, although some disagree, that John took Freddie's death the hardest and simply could not bear performing as Queen without him. God bless him, and his bass which IMO was the backbone of the band.
@@3ScotsInk yeah Freddie was 5 years older tha John. That not so much, but you can thik how huge personality Freddie had. And Freddie really took John under his wings. John have said: when Freddie was there I wa not afraid of nothing, and have no anxiati. Freddie altso learn him to have more modern clouths on. John had a drinking problem too, he had a table with all kind of drink beehaind him when he was on stage, he was pretty drunk at the end of concert. Brian and Roger had beer behaind Rogers drums. Freddie had, thea with honey, warm and could wather, juice, coffee, and one beer on the piano + all the drink to the people who was working on the stage. But it was John who drink moust on concert. He have 6 kids and have been married with his wife seens -75...
1) Killer Queen put Queen on the map. Then a year later Bohemian Rhapsody was released and the rest, as they say, is history. 2) Roger, Roger, Roger... He was Queen's Pretty Boy, Party Boy, and went through a lot of girlfriends. He was also, though Freddie was capable of hitting falsetto, Freddie's stealth weapon on those super high notes. Listen to any interview online with Roger speaking-- he has a high voice to this day. I at times think he almost sounds like he's been sucking on helium. Another person commented that he sounds like Winnie the Pooh. Whatever, he was and still is simply adorable and, yes, had it not been for the superhuman (literally) voice of Freddie's, both Brian and Roger could have been lead singers of a band, and better ones than a lot of others out there back in the day and now. The coming together of those 4 men was pure mystical magic that will never be exactly reproduced. P.S. You've got to react to I Want To Break Free (official video) to see Roger in drag proving you don't have to be gay to be a great looking man and a gorgeous woman as well. Trust me, you'll see.
Great reaction! You were reading into it correctly, they all four were very tight together, if you know what to look for, and you do, all four of them are always sending cues to each other, especially Freddie to them. They also had fun. When it was one members time to be in the spotlight, Freddie would either go off stage or like in this with Roger, just be a band member playing piano.
Wonderful reaction!!! You're right 100%, they are/were a very tight group (most of the time 😉). Whenever he was asked about being "The Leader" of the group, Freddie would always reply, "I'm not the leader! I'm not a General or anything! We're 4 equal members. I'm just the lead singer." 💜 John (Deaky) Deacon was/is very much a private and generally shy person. He initially joined the band just temporarily because he was still at University and they promised to pay £20 a week, which would help with his personal expenses. He never anticipated that they would still be playing together 15 years in. He has a degree in electrical engineering and he and Brian created the "Deaky" amp that was/is used by Brian to help make the signature sound of Brian's "Red Special " guitar. They named the amp the "AC/DEAKY". He is still married to his high school sweetheart, Veronica, and they have 6 children. They still live in the first house they purchased after Queen made it big. He is still in charge of the financial side of Queen and must give his ok for any licensing that represents him. He's just chosen to stay out of the limelight.
John Deacon (bass player) wrote many great songs for Queen : Another one bites the dust, I want to break free, Spread your wings and co-wrote, Under pressure, Friends will be frends.
Addidas rock!!! An old soccer player here. They put different touches of their songs in almost every concert. And Roger can hit such high notes they called him the dog whistle! You can really hear probably the highest note in Bohemian Rhapsody.
John Deacon-bass...sang back up rarely...he's the only member who didn't do a solo album...he use to keep a little bar behind the amp...after their first manager screwed them over, he became more involved on the business end ..after Freddie died he felt he couldn't go on cause Queen wouldn't be the same, he stood with Brian and Roger for a couple of years...he became more of a recluse
Fun fact about this song: it was on the B side of Bohemian Rhapsody. Back in the day we could buy vinyl 45’s which had an A side and a B side. The song released as a single was on the A side, and then they’d choose something for the B side. Roger fought to have his song as the B side but Freddie didn’t want it sullying his masterpiece. Roger apparently locked himself in a cupboard and refused to come out until the band agreed. Freddie was all for leaving him in there, but Roger won in the end 😆 I love Roger’s growly voice. Another of his songs Rock It (Prime Jive) has Freddie singing the intro, and Roger singing the rest. It’s one that will get you jiving! FYI bass guitarist is John (Deacy) Deacon. The quiet member of the group, but pay attention to him in the live concerts because he’s always bopping and jiving away to the music, so he’s been dubbed “The Dancing Queen “ (a play on an ABBA song). He could dig his heals in if he felt the need, but otherwise is very unassuming. Such a shame for the Queenies that he retired after Freddie’s death, but we respect his decision. He took it very hard.
@@lillylee7658 What’s funny is that I can imagine Roger in the cupboard with his raspy voice screaming “I’m not coming out until I’M IN LOVE WITH MY CAR is on the B side!!” 💗😂💗😂
You are right, Roger was the rock and roll guy in the band. He amazes me, he can reach his voice so high, like in My Fairy King, and then he can have that raspy sound like Rod Stewart in this. Then he can play drums like nobody's business.
Love your thoughtful reactions. For a great early Queen performance in the 70s that features John in a big way, and in fact everyone in the band has their moment, please react to Liar written by Freddie Mercury. I love the energy of this Queen performance.
Killer Queen was probably the first Queen song I ever heard, back in early high school days. And I say probably cuz back then, with no Internet, we learned about new songs on the radio and lots of times, you didn’t hear the DJ say the name of the song or the name of the group, so maybe I heard Queen songs before KQ. But that’s the one that hooked me, and I have been a die hard Queen fan ever since (for over 40 years!) Welcome to the club!!
I got a chance to meet John Deacon years ago and like the rest of Queen, he was such a nice soul. You would have never known he was in a rock band! Sweet and respectful too. My girlfriend met Dr. May several times and he actually got her a rose and thanked her for being such a great fan.
His name is John Deacon. He is the quiet Queen. He is married and has 6 children. John doesn't sing much. He says he can't sing. He is a fantastic bassist.
Oh good you found the song that has Rogers singing, I'm glad you found it, I'm anxious to hear it also. He liked his car and boy he did seem nice and all my word the drums he can play them he looks so small in the midst of all those drums and cymbals Etc
This is a really hot medly, though both songs are abreviated. Killer Queen is an early Queen song written by Freddie. I'm In Love With My Car written by Roger. John is the bassist and he is the quiet one, though all but Roger were actually shy. John always plays to the crowd and is an outstanding bass player. He retired from music after Freddie's passing saying it would just never be Queen without Freddie. John and Roger were known in the music industry as the Sonic Volcano.
Roger sings the demo for his song "Ride the Wild Wind" and does an excellent rendition although the official recording is with Freddie singing it on the Innuendo album. Roger, the drummer and vocalist, started his own band called The Cross. He plays guitar and is the lead singer. One of his sons is following in Roger's footsteps and is a pro drummer and has played with the current Queen lineup. Roger has 5 kids, Brian has 3, and John, the bassist has 6 children and is still married to his wife of 44 years. Freddie is godfather to Mary's oldest son who was just a toddler when Freddie passed, and godfather to one of Rhinholt Mack's sons.
No you were spot on I the camaderie they had which other. Roger is so much more than I’m In Love With My Car thorough . His solo catalogue is full of rockers like this and also ballads . He has quite a range in his voice which surprises a lot of people. .he was lead singer a d played guitar with his side band The Cross too.
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert the solo work was always done on proviso and agreement with the other members that Queen came first , he made five solo albums and he was the first Queen member to do this . . The Cross albums and tours were mainly done in quiet times when Queen wasn’t working. They only made three albums though as I think work with Queen did encroach there. His solo work is very different from Queen and it took me a while to get used to it, but he is my favourite member of the band so I kept listening and now I love pretty much all of it. One album especially stands out to me from The Cross called Blue Rock. Roger really ups the ante with his vocals on that album and he sounds fantastic. Cheers from 🇦🇺
John Deacon liked to be more in the background that is why Freddie does not go and play around him as much as he does with Brian. John and Freddie were close friends as were all the band members they described themselves as brothers.
Killer Queen was the first Top 20 hit for the band in the US. My favorite version is Top of the Pops 1974 so even if you choose not to react to it you should try to catch it on your own sometime. The performance is outstanding and very different from what you see here. I LOVE Roger’s voice, too. When the band would take a break Roger had his own band in which he was lead singer and guitarist rather than drums. All the members of Queen played various instruments.....very talented group. Enjoy your reactions to Queen!💛💛💛. Please react to Stone Cold Crazy live at the Rainbow 1974 and White Queen live at Hammersmith Odeon 1975.
For a great example of pure musicianship please try " White Queen ( A Night at the Odeon- Hammersmith 1975) Their talent, cohesion and perfection are all there. This show is the same era as the Bohemian Rhapsody video. Somebody to Love was in 1981 and Live Aid was 1985. They were the most educated band out there. Freddie had an art degree and designed the Queen Logo. Roger switched from dentistry to a biology degree. John electronic engineering degree and he designed and modified their stage and recording amps ( the Deacy Amp). Brian has a PhD and is Dr. Brian May, Astrophysicist and has worked with NASA. Brian and his father spent 2 years making his famous Red Special Guitar using what they had because he couldn't afford a new one. The body is an old tabletop, the neck part of a Victorian fireplace mantle, the finger markings are his mother's pearl buttons, the vibrato mom's knitting needle and old bike parts as well. He still plays it in concert today on tour. Queen is the only band in which every member wrote songs that became hits. The second song at Live Aid was Radio GaGa written by Roger and the source of Lady Gaga's name. The Live Aid performance is considered to be the best live rock performance of all time. As you dive deeper all the way up to Freddie's last work you are going to be stunned by the depth and lyrics in those last 2 albums. But you have much more to hear before then..... .
Awesome reaction! Roger definitely has a rock voice, although Freddie was also great at doing hard rock and even metal. A song you should check out with fantastic instrumentals is the While Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975, for something very different check out My Melancholy Blues live in Houston 1977. You should check out the song Cool Cat, it is a Motown song Freddie and John wrote together. John wrote more of the R&B type of songs.
Love your low key reactions. Just subscribed. Killer Queen was their first big hit and deserves a reaction of it’s own. This one was not the full song. Also, want to highly recommend White Queen live at the Odeon. You will not be disappointed! And yes they did several with Queen in the title. The March of the Black Queen is awesome too.
Thanks, Rad - yep, Roger and Brian were probably the closest - played together earliest - and they were kind of the "rockers" -- but as you noticed, these guys are a GROUP - everyone plays their part - and the collaboration is amazing --
John actually was the real family man of the group. He had 3 kids by the time he was 27 years old. Today he's still married to the same woman, the mother of his 6 children. And, of course, now he's a grandfather. Probably the only thing a little troubling about John was that he drank. A lot. He had an entire bar set up behind where he stood, invisible to audiences, and would duck back when possible and down a few. That's why, if you watch a whole concert, you'll usually easily notice that John's much looser onstage as the show goes on. Now, he's simply a private man who has virtually no contact with Brian and Roger, who wants to be left alone to enjoy the fruits of his labor, his wife, children, and grandchildren. All 4 were great human beings through and through, albeit in different, unique ways.
If you really want to see how truly amazing Roger's voice is please react to In The Lap of the Gods at the Rainbow from 1974!!!! Amazing! And you should definitely watch the Top of the Pops studio version of Killer Queen!
Love this reaction! Has anybody told you about their college degrees? Dr. Brian May (guitar) PhD in astrophysics, Roger Taylor (drums) college degree in biology, John Deacon (Bass) college degree in electrical engineering and Freddie Mercury, college degree in creative art. Having said all of that I don’t think having a college degree is for everybody nor does it necessarily make you the smartest person in the world. College is really all about being persistent and sticking with it for all of those years. But it does mean something, and with this specific band, it is unusual. Gives you further insight into these guys, they are really smart and it also shows on the business side of Queen, the Queen Legacy. Think of all of the movies, commercials, sporting events, that use their music, some members still play to sold out crowds today with Adam Lambert. Vanilla Ice used their bass line from one of the Queen songs for Ice Ice Baby, Queen sued and won. So the business side of Queen is a big deal. The story behind John Deacon is he just retired after Freddie died. Became a recluse. He played at the big Freddie tribute concert and played on the song, No one but you (only the good die young) and then just walked away from it all. He, of course, is still making money from the business side of Queen but when asked in interviews Roger and Brian just kind of side step the question for the most part. Freddie’s death hit him hard I think? And yes, he is the most quiet and reserved one of the group. You will occasionally see him sing but he never really sang to harmonize like Brian, Roger and Freddie. He thought he didn’t have a good voice. You should watch the Bohemian Rhapsody movie once you have been on the Queen journey. Brian and Roger had a lot to do with the movie and it is really good. I am not sure all of it is 💯 truth but it is as close as possible, for Hollywood? I love watching Roger sing this song, this band can literally sing about anything. It really shows what a great voice he has and how well he plays the drums. It is not easy to play drums and sing at the same time. I will be looking for the next one! ❤️
The Bohemian Rhapsody movie is extremely inaccurate. About 80% of the movie is inaccurate it is far better to watch Queen documentaries, some them are also inaccurate but less so then the biopic.
@@ZENOBlAmusic it was “Hollywooded” up I think but remember that Brian and Roger were there for most of it. I am not saying it was 💯 accurate, but I think it gives a glimpse, a feeling of what their life was like. And Rami Malek as Freddie, brilliant, it is worth the watch just to see him. He worked hard for that movie, he had respect for Freddie and for Queen. Try moving like Freddie Mercury, you will find out that it is one of the most difficult things to do. I have tried and felt and looked ridiculous. Rami worked with a movement coach, not a choreographer, but a movement coach. There was no scripting Freddie Mercury and those moves. I agree, the documentaries are the place to go and thank goodness we have those, and often in the quality that we have. Back then you were lucky if you got something special on film, of any quality. The movie is worth it.
You NEED to react to: "Action This Day" LIVE at Milton Keynes Bowl in 1982... It's an awesome DUET w Roger/Freddie, w Roger taking the lead for the first part of the song. IT. IS. AWESOME!!😍🤩🤯
John Deacon was really quiet, but he was also one of Freddie's best friends. He quit after The tribute concert for Freddie. Freddie's death really hurt him. John, Roger, and Brian protected Freddie from the media. They were brothers.
They were very good friends, indeed. The camaraderie is real! They went through a lot in their early days, but nothing could stop them from achieving their dream. On the bass guy: John Deacon, awesome bass player (his bass lines are just genius on all of Queen's songs, always very functional for each song and always adding to the harmony). He's also responsible for some of Queen's greatest hits, like I Want To Break Free and Another One Bites The Dust which was Queen's biggest hit in the US back in 1980. You know who told Queen it should be released as a single because it was certain to become a hit? None other than Michael Jackson. He heard them play it live at the Forum in LA in '80 and met them backstage after the show, saying that he was sure it would top the US charts - and so it did! It's understandable that John decided to retire after Freddie's death, because Freddie was his best friend and the one who encouraged him the most to write songs and be more outgoing. But the musical world misses him a LOT.
Somebody to Love is your favourite so far....I challenge you to watch/listen to White Queen live at The Odeon Hammersmith,1975, and then say if Somebody to Love is still your favourite. I absolutely adore STL also, but it is a very close second to White Queen. Brian wrote it while he was still in college, about a girl he had a crush on but never had the courage to speak to. For me it conjures up Lothlorien, (Lord of the Rings) with elves and forests, it is absolutely beautiful
Hey Rad - I’m a Mizuno shoe kinda gal myself!! Use them when I coach, compete, & go on walks with my granddaughter! Anyway, KILLER QUEEN is the perfect song but you should definitely check out the Top of the Pops version! IM IN LOVE WITH MY CAR was written by Roger about a roadie’s obsession with his car!! Hmmmm you know what they say “Thou protesteth too much”. 🤣🤣 Roger has a fantastic raspy good voice! I love his song HAPPINESS. 😃
Hi Jarrett, I am running back through your Queen reactions and not sure if you will see this message but wanted to let you know that Freddie usually wore Adidas Hercules wrestling boots. Eventually Brian and Roger wore them, too. I understand they wicked away perspiration. Unfortunately, they are no longer made. Adidas could probably make a killing if they brought them back. I would like to have a pair of them. They look very comfortable!
Both of these songs are partial versions. Yep, John was the “quiet” one. Freddie took him under his wing and encouraged him to write songs. He was devastated by Freddie’s death & eventually quit the band. He continues to take care of their finances, though. Roger has some pretty good songs as lead vocalist - “Drowse” “The Loser in the End” “Tenement Funster”... 👍🏼
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Roger has/had a solo band, too, where he played....guitar! Named The Cross. He wrote a song last year called “Isolation” about the pandemic. And of course he & Brian still tour as Queen + with Adam Lambert ...or hopefully they will after this stuff is all over. I’m running late or I’d add some info on Brian - maybe Marcie (👋🏼🥰) can fill you in! Have a great day!
This was filmed by a company that had told the band to wear the same clothes on the two days - and the crowd to be more calm. they didn't wear the same clothes - and they did try to make more noice in the crowd so you can see. In Love of my life they don't sing along - which Freddie commented to Brian: They don't know it - and Brian answering - it's all right- . I guess that it is faster because Freddie was furious . That bass guy is John Deacon - and he is the quit one - - but also known as *Queens secret Weapon- listen to his baselines.Roger wrote this last song - and is often compared with Rod Stewart . Try Somebody to Lone - Montreal 1981 - Roger shines.
Deaky is the man. So talented & Queen’s youngest player. He was only 19 when he joined. Freddie was 6 years older. He was the baby. He still has a great fan base. They were noted for their transitions. Live & in the studio.
Loving your reactions and that you appreciate Queen’s music. For another one of Roger’s songs and to really hear him rock out, try ROCK IT (Prime Jive). There was disagreement about who should sing Roger’s song and the vote was split between Freddie and Roger. So they compromised: Freddie sang the intro and then Roger took over and really nailed it! Here’s the link: ua-cam.com/video/UPOgN7MuOug/v-deo.html I think you’ll enjoy it!! 😊
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Freddie couldn't walk into a room full of strangers without a friend with him. But the band members said he created this Freddie Mercury character, the other him, so he could be that man on stage, he was very different off stage.
If you wonna See Roger in His beautiful Falsetto Voice, watch „In The lap of the Gods“ Live At The Rainbow 1974. NOT „In The Lap of The Gods...Revisited“
Nice reaction. Try '39 the studio version Brian sings that one. John Deacon was the quiet one. A great bass player. When Freddie died he decided to retire he had said "theres no Freddie, no queen ". Try in the Lap of the Gods live at the rainbow 74 ty
Love Roger's vocals too, for more Roger there's also "Tenement Funster" (official lyric vide) . Now to hear the complete song, "Killer Queen",written/Sung by Freddie Mercury, try the Official Video Version "Killer Queen (Top of The Pops 1974). Thanks for your reactions.
Wonderful reation...Roger has a wonderful voice, him and Rod Stewart is qwuit similar. John was very sky, him and Freddie was as brothers. John said when he was together with Freddie he could laf and not have so much anxaiety. He still take care of Queens finansial. He have 6 adoult childrenhave been married with Veronica since -75, but they hav had big problem in their marriage. They nearly diworse, I read they dont live together but they are not divorsed. John had altso pretty big drinking problem for a wail.......
the funny thing is the only thing i know about i'm in love with my car is from the movie where they tried to not have the song put on the album cause the title is i'm in love with my car lol but glad they changed their mind
it’s so different to me watching freddie in killer queen song with a mustache and short hair😊 roger is hot there😍. Bass player the soft power 💛John Richard Deacon famously known John Deacon “deaky” listen/react to one of his famous monster songs ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST and I WANT TO BREAK FREE🙏🏻 nice reaction bro! thumbs up
I also love watching Roger play and sing. His voice is generally kind of raspy, but he can also do that clean falsetto as showcased in Bohemian Rhapsody. If you watch very early videos, his drum set looked like it came from a high school band room. His later sets were 3x that size and he plays them all. This video doesn't really put Killer Queen in its best light. You might want to watch the one from Top of the Pops in 1974. ua-cam.com/video/2ZBtPf7FOoM/v-deo.html
THE BASS PLAYER IS AN ELECTRONIC ENGINEER, BRYAN THE GUITAR PLAYER HAS A Ph.d IN PHYSICS AND ASTRONOMY, ROGER THE DRUMMER STARTED UNIVERSITY TO BECOME A DENTIST BUT DIDN'T FINISH IT AND SWITCH TO BIOLOGY AND HAS A MASTER DEGREE IN SCIENCE AND FREDDIE WAS A DECORATOR OF INTERIORS. ALL OF THEM HAVE HIGH EDUCATION BACKGROUND.,THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER BAND LIKE THEM.
Watch Killer Queen video recording...it tops this one...Freddie did rush this one... Killer Queen was the first time I heard Queen and I Loved It...I was hooked.
Okay, you read a few times, that John was the quiet one, having a shy and reluctant charactor. Unfortunately he played only a few solos, according to that. And that' s a pity because he was an great bass player. Despite of this, he made me become a hobby bass player, because he created lots of magnificent bass lines, which are significant for the songs. I just name the three most famous ones: Another one bites the dust, under pressure (you certainly have heard them before) and a ind of magic (very good live version, live at wembley), I strongly recommend to hear at least one of them in the next time.
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert If you know the bass line of the song ice ice baby you know the bass line of under pressure, too. Vanilla ice stole it from Queen. By the way, there is also a very good live version of another one bites the dust. It's live at Wembley. So, if you think you know it and you like it, I'm sure you would enjoy it. Well, from under pressure there's a live at Wembley performance, too, which is very good. This was just a phenomenal concert :-)
Even though it's lip synched (which they hated but had no choice) it's cool to see their wardrobe, hair etc. It's a great song with great lyrics. First big hit.
This song was on the B side to Bohemian Rhapsody. He also did the Galileo high voice notes in Bohemian Rhapsody and in the song In the Lap of the Gods...live in think 74? Freddie is wearing white. John originally started out playing Rythm guitar then went on to bass. He joined Queen a year later or so around March 1971 from Queens beginning in 1970.. They have all written no.1 songs. John is the songwriter to Another one bites the dust which the group were originally not that impressed about. Michael Jackson who was a fan of Queens and used to frequent their concerts..said they HAD to put it out as a single. It then went to no.1 in the USA and was mainly played on the funk black radio stations because they thought the band were black!.. Also, it was John who also thought up the riff to Under Pressure which was a song that came about after they met up with David Bowie in their studios in Montreux, Switzerland. John studied electronical engineering at college and was the creator of the Deacy Amp.. which created those awesome sounds you will hear particularly in their early days from Brian's Red Special Guitar. This guitar was made from part of an old fireplace by Brian and his dad when Brian was a teenager. He still plays it today. Brian studied Astrophysics and monecular dust particles in space..and has a PHD and is now known as DR. Brian May. Roger studied Dentistry but dropped out and did Biology. Freddie studied Art and Graphic design, designing the famous Queen logo. The crab at the top is Brian. The two lions fir Leo either side is John and Roger and the 2 fairies at the bottom left and right are Freddie for Virgo. Brian and Roger both did Solo albums followed by Freddie with Mr. Bad Guy. Freddie also collaborated with Michael Jackson with There must be more to life than this, Victory which was never completed but Michael's estate owns it and State of Shock, which there is a copy of in UA-cam. But Michael wanted it on his album, and Freddie could not get back to record it properly..so Michael asked Freddie could Mick Jagger sing it instead..and Freddie agreed he could. Freddie also worked and sung with a famous Spanish Opera Soprano singer, called Montserrat Caballe. They completed an album together. Barcelona, The Golden Boy, The Fallen Priest, Guide me home / How can I go on and Le Japonaise (sung in Japanese I think) to mention a few. You need to listen to Freddie's Exercises in Free love song, no words, tones only to hear the extent of his range. This was on the B side to Freddie's The Great Pretender solo single. Later becoming Ensueno which he sung with Monseratte. He found out he had full blown AIDS in April 87 while working on the Barcelona Album. He continued to work and record up until around May 91... Mother love was the very last song recorded with Freddie.. he became too ill to record and died in November 24th 1991. Brian had to sing the last verse.. Made in Heaven album was released in 1995. John left the band in 1997.
Please react to: PLAY THE GAME, official video and live at Milton Keynes...not many reactors do this song but it 's so good. Their official video Freddie sings in falcetto and the llive he does crazy adlibs. He never sings the same way as his studio versions...Roger and Brian each wrote a song for Freddie when he died...Freddie and Roger were best friends.
My motto is that I’ll try anything twice 😅 Lol. But really you should go listen to the studio version of Killer Queen... one of my all time favorites! Since you like the singing/drum combo... Are you a fan of Anderson Paak?
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Dang! I think you’d like him... his Tiny Desk concert is great!! If you vibe to his style, I’d be happy to suggest some of my favorites.
drummer roger made a lot of side projects and solo-stuff ... really worth to check his solo-stuff out (like "hapiness!?"), but brians solo stuff as well - freddie as goat, yeah, well! just in case you want to dig deeper! the projects are of course different, but professional-expert-musican-high-quality-stuff! :-)
You're not reading to much into it, if you take a look a Freddie he looks like a proud dad. I imagine that's the look I had when one of my boys scored a touchdown
Please react to Roger's song Old Friend, it's one he wrote about Freddie, excellent song, another one is Say It's Not True... Both very excellent songs in memory of Freddie.
Freddy was amazing. My favorite of all time. For those wondering about the vocal ability of his band mates, here is their tribute to Freddy. ua-cam.com/video/oLKyaOLb2Fs/v-deo.html
John was very shy, he was a family man I think he had seven kids I could be wrong on that number but he didn't like the limelight or singing because he didn't think he had a good voice although he did sing in a number of songs as backup you never really hear his voice clearly to know what he actually sounded like at least I haven't. He said Freddie was his best friend and he was able to feel comfortable when Freddie was with him and he said Freddie was his voice once Freddie died he played at the tribute concert and on Brian's tribute song only the Good die Young and then he retired he does not like to be out in public and has basically lived a very unpublic life since retirement
Love your reaction ❤️ Queen tended to do their songs quicker at their live concerts than what is on the albums xJohn Deacon the bass player was last to join the band & he was only 19 so took a while to settle in but everyone says that he was Queens secret weapon liked to dance (dancing Deaky) wrote some amazing songs & is a fantastic bass player ❤️ you can pause & go back with Roger anytime love Roger ❤️ Drowse,Tenement Funster, More of that Jazz, Fight From the Inside, Rock It (Prime Jive) are just a few of the songs he sings lead on don’t think there are any live videos of him singing these so you would have to do the official lyric videos if you want to react to them x Freddie is looking back happy coz Roger is working harder than him for a change 😂they are an amazing band very tight & supportive of each other ❤️ there is a commentary of Roger & Brian for the whole of this concert it’s very funny great to hear what they have to say x
Lol I’m John in real life
Hey john was a Legend..no doubt..i grew up with these guys..i bow down to these Legends...
John Walking through Home Depot😂😂😂
@@joandeluca6846 Omg, Joan. I saw a lot of these bands back in the day, and met some of them, through my work (as a teenager) in a record store. One of my best connections had the same last name as you. You wouldn't happen to have a relative named Grover, would you??
John in an interview:
"I don't like meeting new people, but when I'm with Freddie I stop being shy!
It's amazing how he "works" on me!
He's the only one who understands me, Freddie is my voice, you know?"
John Deacon
This really explains why he stopped playing after Freddie passed away!! He truly loved Freddie in a strictly platonic way!!!!
Queen 👑❤️ was a Family not just band members!! Queen 👑❤️👑❤️👑❤️👑❤️ Forever and Always 💓💓💓💓
He made it look SO EASY! Him and those Adidas 😉😃
Loved it!
Haha ❤️
😂 I’m glad he went to those extremes. I loved it
Yes he did - and he made a LOT of money because Bohemian Rhapsody was a Massive Hit!! 🤩😂
@@barbaramendoza2202 He definitely deserved it.
I feel like John is living my life’s goals lol

I love how Freddie looks back an yes they are awesome ! All for one an one for all 💜💫💓🏆🥇☮️🌹Queen Forever he also can sing the high notes !
I love that 👏🏽
Wonderful reaction!!!
I love the way you do the exact quote
From that interview. I do the same thing. Your a real Queenie ❤❤

Congrats! You are the second in the whole reaction world to React to this amazing footage! I love that is shows the Talent of Queen as a whole!

Killer queen was their first usa single and my first introduction to them. ♥️
Me, too - although I got much more interested following that - :)
I think John is my favorite. Probably matches my personality most
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert I think John is very special. I like watching him dance. I think he is quite shy. He is so talented. The best bassist.
Oh good you found the song that has Rogers singing, I'm glad you found it, I'm anxious to hear it also.
He liked his car and boy he did seem nice and all my word the drums he can play them he looks so small in the midst of all those drums and cymbals Etc
U were spot on picking up on the supportive nature and the brotherly vibe of this band. One of a thousand reasons I love Queen! ✌🏾👑
Thank you! I’ve since learnt how loyal John especially was to Freddie
I love the loyalty
Did it not conflict with him already being in queen?
Thank you Marilyn! And that’s interesting, hun having his own band wasn’t a conflict of interest?
But you have much more to hear before then.....
.
Thank you DeeAna taking notes on white queen
Awesome reaction! Roger definitely has a rock voice, although Freddie was also great at doing hard rock and even metal. A song you should check out with fantastic instrumentals is the While Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975, for something very different check out My Melancholy Blues live in Houston 1977. You should check out the song Cool Cat, it is a Motown song Freddie and John wrote together. John wrote more of the R&B type of songs.
Nice! Than you, i will add them to my list!
Please do the entire Queen concert in Montreal (where those videos are from) it’s quite stellar!!’

@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Cool - I look forward -
Oh yeah 😍 🥁
Thank you Janet. I will add it to my list!
Yes! Probably the most impressive thing about them i think

OMG YESSSS ... You know how I feel about Milton Keynes 🔥🔥🔥

Taking notes!
Like you reactions a lot. You are very good expressing yourself. Keep up the good work.
John Deacon was really quiet, but he was also one of Freddie's best friends. He quit after The tribute concert for Freddie. Freddie's death really hurt him.
John, Roger, and Brian protected Freddie from the media. They were brothers.
Freddie at one point said Roger was the one who did the "dog whistle" notes. Freddie was capable of hitting those, but he felt Rog did them better.
Judy not Tom: You said Somebody to Love was your favorite so far. I've heard that Freddie himself rated Somebody to Love as his favorite Queen song.
More things that we have in common!
I'm your 529th Sub. I have a feeling you will be at 20 thousand in a month!!
Haha yes! Love it! Let’s speak it into existence! Thank you
Somebody to Love is your favourite so far....I challenge you to watch/listen to White Queen live at The Odeon Hammersmith,1975, and then say if Somebody to Love is still your favourite.

Yes!
Keep looking for Roger’s I love My Car cause it’s a great performance ! It’s there!
💕💕💕💕🖖
Oh wow, he seems like an interesting guy
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Roger has/had a solo band, too, where he played....guitar! Named The Cross. He wrote a song last year called “Isolation” about the pandemic. And of course he & Brian still tour as Queen + with Adam Lambert ...or hopefully they will after this stuff is all over. I’m running late or I’d add some info on Brian - maybe Marcie (👋🏼🥰) can fill you in! Have a great day!
John was the one who wrote ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST and also SPREAD YOUR WINGS.
Roger is a star! It’s hard to pick a favorite member with Queen.
Something tells me it’s Freddie lol
In my opinion- Queen and Led Zeppelin had the most love for one another than any other bands in rock.
Roger wrote I'm In Love With My Car and Freddie wrote Killer Queen. Both good songs that don't get pale often enough.♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Thanks for the reaction. Check out In the lap of the gods from Wembley 86 and also Love of my life also from Wembley
These song titles are 🔥
Deaky is the man.
Here’s the link: ua-cam.com/video/UPOgN7MuOug/v-deo.html
I think you’ll enjoy it!! 😊
This one really showcases Roger Taylor's voice clearly. Brilliant.
John Deacon was shy, and believe it or not Freddie was shy also off stage, but when Freddie stepped on stage he became the showman.
I’ve heard this a few times now. Hard to believe!
I agree - Roger has some insanely high falseto, do the one Lord Ghostrider suggested, its awesome
YESSSS
Nice reaction. Try '39 the studio version Brian sings that one. John Deacon was the quiet one. A great bass player. When Freddie died he decided to retire he had said "theres no Freddie, no queen ". Try in the Lap of the Gods live at the rainbow 74 ty
Sounds like a loyal guy. Lap of gods is being mentioned a lot i think i will do that next
Killer queen reaction on my channel 🙌🏽
Wonderful reation...Roger has a wonderful voice, him and Rod Stewart is qwuit similar. John was very sky, him and Freddie was as brothers. John said when he was together with Freddie he could laf and not have so much anxaiety. He still take care of Queens finansial. He have 6 adoult childrenhave been married with Veronica since -75, but they hav had big problem in their marriage. They nearly diworse, I read they dont live together but they are not divorsed. John had altso pretty big drinking problem for a wail.......
Hopefully he’s not by himself
the funny thing is the only thing i know about i'm in love with my car is from the movie where they tried to not have the song put on the album cause the title is i'm in love with my car lol but glad they changed their mind
Watch this live solo from Brian May. One of the best. 14. Brighton Rock (Queen In Earls Court: 6/6/1977) [Filmed Concert] - UA-cam
Watch Roger Cam Here I Am. Its all Roger drumming and singing and his view.

it’s so different to me watching freddie in killer queen song with a mustache and short hair😊 roger is hot there😍. Bass player the soft power 💛John Richard Deacon famously known John Deacon “deaky” listen/react to one of his famous monster songs ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST and I WANT TO BREAK FREE🙏🏻 nice reaction bro! thumbs up
Thank you!
Nice! I will watch! Maybe off camera though
Another one bites the dust I’m pretty sure I’ve heard, the other two I’m not really sure?
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert If you know the bass line of the song ice ice baby you know the bass line of under pressure, too. Vanilla ice stole it from Queen. By the way, there is also a very good live version of another one bites the dust. It's live at Wembley. So, if you think you know it and you like it, I'm sure you would enjoy it.
Well, from under pressure there's a live at Wembley performance, too, which is very good. This was just a phenomenal concert :-)
@@Ein_Schachdude is this the one they sued him over?
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Exactly, it is
Killer Queen is one of the few songs that I prefer the original "studio" version they made doing Top of the Pops instead of the live versions.
Wow, now this is information i can appreciate! Thank you!
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert you are welcome 😊
Please react to: PLAY THE GAME, official video and live at Milton Keynes...not many reactors do this song but it 's so good. Their official video Freddie sings in falcetto and the llive he does crazy adlibs. He never sings the same way as his studio versions...Roger and Brian each wrote a song for Freddie when he died...Freddie and Roger were best friends.
One of my favorites PLAY THE GAME 👏👏👏

Roger Taylor is awesome. Watch bran May live doing Brighton rock Live.
My motto is that I’ll try anything twice 😅 Lol. But really you should go listen to the studio version of Killer Queen... one of my all time favorites!
Since you like the singing/drum combo... Are you a fan of Anderson Paak?
I know who he is but i don’t know any of his songs 😳
@@RadJarrettTheIntrovert Dang! I think you’d like him... his Tiny Desk concert is great!! If you vibe to his style, I’d be happy to suggest some of my favorites.
drummer roger made a lot of side projects and solo-stuff ... really worth to check his solo-stuff out (like "hapiness!?"), but brians solo stuff as well - freddie as goat, yeah, well! just in case you want to dig deeper! the projects are of course different, but professional-expert-musican-high-quality-stuff! :-)

Freddie range was F2 to F6 and Rogers was E2 to E6
You're not reading to much into it, if you take a look a Freddie he looks like a proud dad. I imagine that's the look I had when one of my boys scored a touchdown
Please react to Roger's song Old Friend, it's one he wrote about Freddie, excellent song, another one is Say It's Not True... Both very excellent songs in memory of Freddie.

Try "no one but you (the good die young), to hear Rodger and Brian, it is a great song and extrem sad song.
He definitely sounds like my kind of guy
Roger is 32 here, has the face of a 15 year old and the voice of a 60 year old lol 😄
Try some early Queen, Liar, Keep Yourself Alive

freddie wore mostly adidas (sometimes asics)
I love how near the end of the commentary by Roger and Brian, Brian says "Deaky should be here". My favorite John song is Need Your Loving Tonight.
John might be my spirit person
Roger's voice reminds me of Rod Stewart
