Judy here. I'm 72 but never heard of Queen or Freddie Mercury until about 2 years ago. Fact is I didn't listen to music at all. Something came up on my (rather weird) news feed that mentioned Freddie Mercury. I did a search for his name and the first thing I watched was Made In Heaven, which was originally not Queen but Freddie alone. (After Freddie's death Queen took his vocals and made a Queen song out of it for the album Made In Heaven). What I saw was a rather wild video of Freddie standing on top of a huge sphere with people writhing below. Lol I was empressed by Freddie's voice and the energy he put into it. Since then I've been a fan. I still don't listen to music...except for Queen, and Freddie Mercury. I've watched multiple documentaries, and hundreds of reactions, live concerts, etc.
I loved your reaction. So nice to get to know you. I don't have a favorite Queen song, I love almost every one I've heard. Keep listening to Queen and the members of the band in their solo work. You won't be disappointed. They are so talented and their music so diverse. Freddie always makes me smile, he could get more out of one word than anyone could.

Hi Judy! I'm Jen (age 50). I really enjoyed reading this! I'm on the opposite end - I have lived and breathed music my entire life from the 50's up. I am not surprised one bit that out of all the artists, Freddie is one you connected with. He was a very special man. We were so lucky to have him. ❤✌🎵

@@jennhurl Yes, I definitely connected with Freddie. As I said I've watched a lot of Freddie and I admire him as a person. I've never seen or heard him say anything that disgusted me. He was ornery sometimes, and as he sings, he has made a few mistakes, but he was real. He faced a lot in his short life, but faced it with zest for living. I've learned a lot from him.

Freddie Mercury: lead vocals, piano and occasionally, guitar. Degree in graphic art
Dr. Brian May: lead guitar, keyboards, backing vocals. PHD in Astrophysics and has worked with NASA
Roger Taylor: drums, backing vocals. Degree in Biology
John (Deacy) Deacon: bass guitar. Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Each band member has written songs that became hits. 4 very intelligent and extremely talented guys, who together create magic. Roger and Brian as well as Freddie, all put out solo albums. John didn’t sing much, he was the quiet member of the group but the owner of some of the most epic bass riffs you’ve ever heard. Another One Bites the Dust (you’re sure to know that one) and Under Pressure are the biggest hits but Dragon Attack is my favourite. And if you want to see Roger singing at the same time he’s belting it out on the drums, check out the medley of Killer Queen/I’m in Love with my car at this same Montreal concert.

The guitarist is Dr. Brian May, he has his own UA-cam channel, graduated astrophysicist. He played the red special on the guitar he had built himself when he was 18. He is an excellent singer and also plays acoustic guitars, piano and keyboard. Oh, he wrote a lot of Queen songs like "How wants to live for ever", "we will rock you" and "i want it all".
The drummer Rodger Taylor is also an excellent singer, i am in love with my car has already been mentioned a lot here in the comments. He often took over the high notes for Freddie in the concerts so that Freddie could spare his voice a little.
He also wrote many Queen hits like "Radio Ga Ga" "A kind of Magic" and "Breakthru"
Bass guitarist is John Deacon, he sang almost not. In addition to the bass guitar, he also played the double bass. He also wrote Queen songs "Another one bite the Dust", "I want to break free" and "Stone cold crazy"
All four band members wrote number 1 hits.

Yes that hot looking gentleman on the piano is the legendary Freddie Mercury. Bo Rhap came in 1975, off their 4th studio album, but it is the song that propelled them to stratospheric super stardom. Long haired Freddie was early 70’s, late 70’s he had it cut a bit shorter and during the 80’s very short with moustache. I love all his looks. I’m a new subscriber after watching your Bo Rhap reaction just now. I like that you’re not hyped up and over reacting like some seem to think they need to do. It must be impossible for them to truly appreciate the music they are listening to when they’re yelling over the top of it the whole way through. So you are refreshing for me and I hope you continue on your Queen journey, it will take you on a very diverse and interesting trip. Can I suggest some of their very best live performances, because they were always better live...White Queen live at The Odeon Hammersmith 1975, Stone Cold Crazy and In The Lap of the Gods live at The Rainbow 1974, Save Me and Bohemian Rhapsody at this same Montreal concert, Action This Day and Fat Bottomed Girls at Milton Keynes 1982 and anything from Wembley 1986. And what is absolutely obligatory, is their Live Aid set. A charity concert held to raise money for the starving people in Ethiopia, two concerts held simultaneously in London and Philadelphia and with a worldwide television audience of One Billlion people, all the biggest name artists of the day gave their time for free. When Queen came on, is when the money really started rolling in and their performance regarded as the best on the day, and one of the best EVER by anyone, then or now. You will be amazed by the audience reactions to them, they didn’t even know Queen would be performing when they bought their tickets. You won’t be sorry if you watch it, even though it’s 20 minutes long..

I just subscribed so I could go on this Queen journey with you! There are SO many songs, they are all so different, they are all so GREAT (an understatement), you could literally spend months on this band. I think it is important to react to the studio/video versions first and then react to the live versions in a different video, when available. They are SO good, this is THE ultimate band for an audience, the audience loves them and they love the audience, especially Freddie Mercury (lead singer and piano.) He is the best frontman of ALL time, IMO. This band feeds off of the energy of a live audience and the song is at least the same, if not better, when live, which is rare. They change it up, they add vocals, speed up the tempo, but it is worth reacting to both versions. This is also a band that started off writing songs as individuals, credited to them individually and then later changed that to credit them to Queen the group. But individually all 4 members wrote songs for the band, all 4 have number 1 hits on charts across the world. I grew up with them and Michael Jackson. This is my generation of music and I am very happy about that. You go on this journey with Queen, you will think about music in a different way. And Queen fans are a passionate bunch, we love seeing new fans emerge so welcome to the crazy madness of Queen fandom! I want to see what you have coming up and as you advance I may have a few suggestions. ❤️

THANK YOU for recognizing how talented Queen was live. No autotune assistance. This was hard work, precision, perfecting their craft, their blend and their desire to continually evolve, experiment, and grow. In my humble and somewhat obsessed opinion Queen was one of a kind; countless bands and lead singers and top of the chart guitarists have praised them, pointed out Queen's influence on their own music and talk about them being the pioneers of music videos and the stage lighting. Their connection with the audience was amazing. A number of videos will show you how Freddie had them in the palm of his hand, how they responded to him and how it was a mutual love affair. Freddie often told the audience he loved them. It's true, we always felt valued by this group and in return our love and appreciation of this 'one in a billion' band has never wavered since the 70's. Each following generation has been introduced to Queen, heard the stories and continued to be amazed and wanting more! Now THAT'S a legacy!!

Great reaction, Jarrett! Being an old man, it gives me great pleasure seeing and hearing the next generation learn, appreciate and embrace the songs of my youth. When I was a kid, Queen were not allowed to be played in my home. My parents thought that watching and listening to Queen would make us all gay. Sadly, it only worked on me. The others are all straight. What memories this song brings back!

This song was used in Happy Feet and Ella Enchanted. Both Brian May (Guitar) and Roger Taylor (Drums) fronted bands alongside their roles in Queen. Both are good singers...though not as good as Freddie who's generally considered one of the all-time greats. Freddie had a range of between 3-4 octaves. He also used subharmonics and his vibrato was faster than other singers. This is what gave his voice such texture and made it so distinctive. He was also very, very adaptable...not simply his ability to be in three different places at once but also across music genres...opera, rock, soul, funk, metal, jazz, rockabilly...you name it, Freddie sang it. Did you know there was a duet with Michael Jackson?

Roger - the drummer and Brian the guitarist have good voices and have both made records as lead singers - or soloists. Had it not been for Freddie they could have filled in. Roger is the falsetto and he fills in for Freddie if he has problems - which happened as he had nodules on his voice cords .- and denied an operation - he was scared of the consequences on his singing voice. I think that Roger sings alone on "I'm in love with my car" which he wrote. You can hear both of them in "No one but you" - which Brian wrote after Freddies death. Brian, Roger and John recorded it and made a video that shows it - as if it was a rehearsal. It was released in 1997 on an album: Queen Rocks - and as a single in January 1998. One must remember a handkerchief . It is SO beautiful -Brian sings 2 verses, Roger 1 and the last verse they sing together. You can find the video by texting the title.

Except for being in choir at boarding school as a child, Freddie never had a voice lesson. After hearing a recording of his singing voice at a very early Queen concert, Freddie said, ‘I can’t have that’. He went on and developed his own voice. Freddie knew what he wanted and he worked until he achieved it.
Without Freddie, there never would have been Queen. Brian and Roger were ready to give up when Tim Staffell, the guitarist and singer for Smile, walked away from the band. Freddie was Tim’s friend at Ealing Art College that they attended together. He introduced them to Freddie and he would go to all Smile’s gigs. When Tim left, Freddie asked to join, where he knew all the music. Freddie said ‘if there’s a new band we should have a new name’ and he suggested Queen. And Queen was born.
John Deacon joined the band in 1971 after the band had auditioned, hired and released a number of bass guitarists. John was hired for his talent and personality. He was educated and on the quiet side. They didn’t want a showboat or an ego problem. Queen wanted to be the best band they possibly could be, and they definitely were the GOAT👑💛👑
