I have to say this again, how can this not be listed as a Paid Promotion? This is a great in depth video & not sure anyone would care if it was an ad. But saying the video is literally sponsored & equipment has been provided, but views are your own, is a complete contradiction.
I agree, David's video is thorough and informative, and as an owner, Insta360 products generally live up to good value for money and quality of hardware and footage. Their marketing though feels shameless and a brief search on UA-cam will reveal many creators who have dropped them for their specifically requesting that sponsored videos and paid promotions be hidden as such. Which honestly just makes the job of reviewers like David tougher, as Insta360 themselves have introduced a shadow of doubt to the impartiality of all product reviews of theirs online.
I just want to be very clear and transparent about paid promotions which is why I ticked the boxed and also mention it in the video. To answer JHarris the company didn't make any requests to hide the fact they supported this ad. But honestly all views are my own on the performance of the product. I do appreciate your kind words that you found it a great video though :)
That's a bunch of bull crap. You're claiming that no human can ignore a bias that has been identified. Perhaps you are too weak to do so, but that doesn't mean that every human is. Every human is biased, whether they are sponsored or not, but if you are aware of the bias then you can take steps to make sure that you are being as neutral as possible. In fact, this is the fundamental basis of the scientific method going all the way back to the founder of Western logic, Socrates, which is the source of all real progress at improving our map of our common reality, i.e. by acknowledging that humans are flawed and biased and looking instead for a consensus with regards to the interpretation of the hard data rather than individual opinions. After you do that, you are still biased but you are not as biased. After all, acknowledging a problem is the first step to conquering it.
The number one feature I'm waiting for is a USB-C connection on the small camera. That way I could mount it to my helmet and then add a cable and power bank to power it for long rides. 30 minutes of record time in 4K is just not enough.
@@davidarthur I guess so. I have a 256GB card in my GoPro that's mounted to my helmet, and it will record for 6 hours. So I guess 128 would be only 3 hours, but that's still better than 33 minutes. Thanks for creating a super helpful video on this new camera. 🙂

@@mitchlewis535 With normal Go 3, it’s almost 3.5G for 6 minutes of free form video. So for 128GB, there are about 115GB available once system files are accounted for. You get 197 minutes of footage.
You do not tell if we can use it for a 5 hour bike ride? like e.g. the Garmin Varia back video recorder, where battery lift is around 6 hours, and Garmin varia loops, so you always have the last recording where you crash or are run down, which is my interest in have recording at my bike rides - SO I have Garmin Varia RCT715 - and I need solution for front video recording, is it this Instago360 or is the battery life too short for 5 hours ride mounted without the ACTION POD ofcourse, mounted in front - NOWHERE can you see battery life with and without ACTION POD?

To stop this from happening again (although hopefully not needed!), I'm looking to buy a camera for my bike. I'm considering the GO 3S, Ace Pro or Insta360 X3; what would you recommend?
My Bluetooth from the camera to action pod no longer gets full bars on the connection meter and I get maybe 10 feet distance. Tried all troubleshooting to no avail
@@rufflycorrect not as a safe cam. Though you need less resolution for safe cam. Battery may last longer in low res non-free frame mode. If you are just in for some action shot, its battery is more than enough. Insta made it very convenient to start/stop recording. Believe me, you don’t want to capture a 4 hrs ride in its entirety. It’s bloody boring and neigh on impossible to find the interesting bits.

The Pocket 3 is more about observing the action and vlogging with high quality, the gimble doesn't move fast enough, the Go is about being discreet and in the action as it is water proof and doesn't care about framing or object tracking. That being said, if someone wants heavy action footage then the DJI Osmo, Ace Pro or Gopro is a better option. Different use cases, all types have pros and cons.
A question regarding your experience with the magnetic pendant, do you wear it low (below HR strap) or high? I find it more stable low with the standard Go 3. However, you’d really be pointing towards your front wheel and even the free frame couldn’t quite fix this. I also tried to mount it slightly more to the side above my chest muscle. It works with winter clothing. Unfortunately, there are just too much shaking and jerking even for the excellent flow stabilisation to handle if I’m wearing summer jerseys.
I run it just above the HRM strap. Being angled and pointing down is a problem on racier bikes, I've bodged a small piece of foam into a triangular shape to go under the pendant to counteract this
the pendant even with the wedge really isnt a great angle. I just bought a 3d printed holder that still uses the magnetic pendant but is a much better angle for cycling
The new hat clip has a metal plate on the clip part so that it attaches to the pendant as well, giving you the complete range of adjustment that the hat clip has... Meaning no more dumb wedges to get lost.
Doesn't matter if it's the best camera if it's too heavy and bulky to bring with you on every ride. This thing looks like a winner. Haters can keep coping because it's not from the West.
My understanding is that it's mostly the new lens and a much faster processor that pulls off the 4K. The new lens does make the overall FOV 10% less, but also it has a lot less lens flare which is nice.
FInally a small camera with allegedly decent battery life. I think it is a good cam for filming comutes too. Nice review, btw :) One thing, where did you get the data that "most videos on UA-cam are watched in 4k". I thought it was well known that 1080 and 720 are most commonly used resolutions for watching UA-cam videos. 🤷♀
Yes, my understanding is that the vast majority of videos are watched on smartphones. But also I am given to understand that there is more traffic on UA-cam than on all other streaming services put together, so that probably leaves still plenty of people watching on television with high-speed internet. I know that's all I watch...
The footage of the GO 3 looks extremely heavily processed and not really great at all. Compared to your other footage while riding this seems to be the worst by far and nothing I would want to watch. Video quality might be ok when walking in the sun at the beach, but fast moving bike riding in the forest like your clip, no, the camera can't be recommended for that.
I own this camera and it performs very poorly. It turns off if it gets jostled, doesn’t record for the full length of time the app setting program says it should. It is very unreliable.

When you have it on your magnetic chest mount, surely it faces down onto the road on a drop handlebar bike, rather than forward facing??

There is an accessory for GO 2 to do just that. I imagine it works for Go 3 as well. The action pod is usb-c. You could just plug it in.

AP 2.8 (ver 3S) vs 2.2 (ver3). It cant work better in low light scenario 🤷🏻♂️

Would you pick that camera over dji pocket 3 just for road bike content? Quality wise it's far away from pocket 3 but size is legit

It can get in the way but I wear the necklace a bit shorter so it sits just above

The automatic is on the heavy side. That is what the Chinese market wants. You could manual it. At least turn sharpening to low.
Within the next six months, Insta Go 4 is going to come out. This brand consider its customers for pidgins.
