I think part of the reason that she gave you a Cher vibe, is that they are both in the deep contralto range, although Annie has the ability to soar higher. Fun reaction!! More Annie, more Eurythmics!!!
Yes, 'I need a man' is a continuation of 'Beethoven'. Eurythmics actually did a whole video album for the album "Savage" (12 videos!). Unfortunately it was only released on vhs video in the 80's and has not been re-released on any other format since then. I think it should, it's one of their best!
I only got the singles. Not the album.I always kept in mind to buy it at the time but due to some trouble it always escaped my mind.I gotta try now.It wasn't that commercial at the time, but since you mention it i have to check it.Didn't know they made a whole video concept wow!Pretty creative.
Beethoven and I need a man both from Savage. Front to back an amazing album with widely varied style yet woven together as you could tell by just listening to those two track. Highly recommend listening to entire album. I lived in Japan when this came out and still listen to Savage regularly
When I first heard and saw the video of ‘I Need A Man’ I was totally mesmerised. The way she performed it on screen. Her acting abilities and expression to bring out the lyrics of the song are just sublime. Your favs on this lot are my two fav songs from Eurythmics. 👍🏼
Beyond the genius of the musicality and other-worldliness of Annie's voice, their stunning visual presentation is always so very compelling. The Beethoven video is a mini masterpiece imo. It's like she has these dualing qualities of the masculine and feminine alongside a childlike naughtiness and just the whole "eff this sh!t" breaking point is phenomenal. Back in the mid 90s (I was 20-something) my friends and I would perform in amateur drag shows at a couple local clubs. Annie was always my personal diva of choice and I can assure you my rendition of "I Need a Man" was a crowd pleaser lol. Good times 🥰
Since you’ve covered a wide range of Eurythmics videos now, I’d recommend Annie’s video for “Little Bird” if you haven’t seen it yet. It has an interesting take on many of the characters she’s taken on.
Annie has an astonishing voice and just bucketloads of charisma (there's no other word for it, really). So much presence in everything she does. Loved every single one of these tracks and your reactions.
The 2 vids you asked about are from the album Savage, which was also released as a Video Album. By that I mean they did a vid for every track and they all intertwine and relate to each other. Was released on VHS at the time. Well worth watching....it's amazing!
Legendary and epic = EURYTHMICS. "Beethoven (I love to listen to)" is such a brilliant classic hunting song...i just adore and love this masterpiece of art.
This was a good selection Annie Lennox has a super good voice and always looks so great in the videos. Especially in the video for *Don't ask me why* with the Eurythmics. Other recommendations: Money can't buy it Lovesong for a vampire The gift Primitive Cold Pavement cracks You have placed a chill in my heart ( Eurythmics)
One of the most original pop groups of the 80's, both musically and visually. Soooooo many great music videos. My personal favourite is "Shame", wich for some (copyright?) reason is hard to find on UA-cam.
Annie sure likes to dress up. Never knew they made such great songs. Beethoven was stunning. The video even better. She was going slightly mad so it seems. She would be a great actress
Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart both were in a band called the Tourists in the late 70's. And at the same time they were in a relationship together. But the band broke up as did they. But they formed the Eurythmics and still worked together as band mates.
Wow, you made me happy! My favourite track off the "Savage" video album (featuring "Beethoven" and "I Need A Man") is the non-single title track "Savage" ❤️
Yes, the "I Need a Man" video is a continuation of "Beethoven". Fun fact: Both of them (like lots of Eurythmics videos) were directed by Sophie Muller, who also directed all videos for Kylie's "Disco" era (including the ultimate camp video for "Kiss of Life").
Love your channel!!! I think you would really enjoy the group: ABC. 80’s Euro Pop. Poison Arrow…..Look of Love….When Smoky sings….& How to be a Millionaire. Those 4 songs were their most popular!!!!! Thanks for sharing your wonderful discovery of new music!!
"It's Alright (Baby's Coming Back)" all day for me. Just the whole vibe and atmosphere pulls you in, even the video helps with this with its cyberpunk-esque art choices. Defo my favourite Eurythmics song. I do find their earlier work better, it had much more of that electronic sheen to it and later they dipped into other genres that imo didn't quite work as well for them. The changing sound of the 80s I guess. ❤
Great analysis. I agree to a degree. For me, as I found them a tad later in the late 80's as a 10+ yo kid, their late 80's music was 'it' for me. But their whole discography is just awesome.
That's interest, Stephen. My favourite albums of them are "Revenge" and "Savage" - both representing quite different styles musically. But since my third favourite is "Sweet Dreams" it seems I'm more on the electronic side, too.
Savage is my favorite album by Eurythmics, and they made an entire video album concept. The other video from this album you need to watch is You Have Place a Chill in My Heart. They still have tons of videos for you to watch. They really do great videos.
I'd suggest you take a dive into Annie Lennox's solo work. "Love Song for a Vampire" is one of my all time favourite songs, also "Into the West", "No More 'I Love You's", "Walking on Broken Glass", "Dark Road", her cover of "A Whiter Shade of Pale", and lots more.
Oh pretty please do some more Eurythmics. Just rewatching all your reactions to them and loving them. They've still got a good few amazing songs. I'd recommend I've Got A Life, Miracle of Love, 17 Again, Thorn in my Side, When Tomorrow Comes and either of the duets with Aretha Franklin or Al Green.
If you didn't already please have look at their Greatest Hits Album! There are so many more songs worth a reaction {Sex Crime, Thorn in my side, Sisters are doing it and many more! Best wishes from Hamburg, Germany!
I just wanted to say how much fun it was to see you reacting to Beethoven and see the joy on your face. Also, you’re very smart in the way you ‘got’ the ‘I Need a Man’ concept. You’re very perceptive. 😊
Pancake you need react the whole Savage album Eurythmics best work vocally Annie Lennox a master of her craft also with Halloween approaching you should react her haunting song from Dracula video love song for vampire.
Having watched that last video for i need a man i find myself deeply saddened that there was never a collaboration between Annie and Lily Savage. Because that would have been epic... (Lily Savage was a UK drag queen, comedian and TV personality.)
Told you in part 1, don't expect sense out of Eurythmic videos, or even Anne Lennox when she went solo videos. One of my fun favorites "I Need a Man' my aerobics instructor used to play it for me, my theme song at the time lol
If you notice at the end of Beethoven she's walking outside a prison/mental hospital type facility. And yes, the last video is a continuation of Beethoven. For that album (called "Savage") they made an entire album of videos centered around the mundane housewife and the (their word) "Vamp".
Eurythmics fan since they where in The Tourists - LOVE LOVE their lyrics, her voice, the electronic and synth. After the big succes med 'the rock album' Revenge all other group would 'stay in that lane' and top that mainstream succes, but not Annie and Dave - they put out Beethoven (I Love to Listen to) as first single from their next album Savage! LEGENDS!! RESPECT!! ❤ BTW! Old and lucky enough to have experienced them live in concert.
Another duo i discovered thanks to my mom (she had all theyr albums,in wich i have still in my possession as memories after her) At the time i was full of anxiethy, depression (i was pretty much a victim of bullying, felt like i didnt fit in anywhere) I was pretty tall, athletic build but its strange how masses of people can easily destroy you,if they are evil enough. Its Alright (Babys coming back) is one of the first songs mom made me listen to (not forcefully lol,she offered and i accepted) Annie is on another level hot in that video *splashes water on forhead* We had a similar band here around the same time, called Tomboy. Very funky music, plus Annies & Torhild Sivertsen`s vocals reminded me abit of eachother (female lead vocalist of Tomboy) Tomboy - People Get Moving is a good and funky example right there. Mom loved this band too. Someone said that Tomboy sounded like a mix between Roxette (swedish band/duo) and Eurythmics. (I believe mom liked the song "i need a man" alot because of the lyrics, she went through 2 heavy court cases because of abuse in her short short life)
I have so much fun watching you watch these videos. Eurythmics did amazing videos and music! My fave from these four is Beethoven. I remember seeing the premiere on tv back then and just being mind blown, it was so different from thew rest of the music back then. I thought it would be a huge hit or do almost nothing. Sadly it turned out to be the second 😞
OK, so I have been watching you since you had like 7 hundred subscribers. Now you are over 21 THOUSAND so a giant CONGRATULATIONS !! ... I absolutely love your video reactions. With that said, I can not believe you have not reacted to BLONDIE yet !! .... PLEASE !!! .... and when you start , begin with HEART OF GLASS then move on to RAPTURE so that you can see the range in styles. Tick Tock, Tick Tok, Tick Tok !!!!! ........................................
Thank you so much!! I did actually react to “Heart Of Glass” a while ago, but the video got blocked so I had to remove it. I’ll keep Blondie in mind for future videos though. 😊
You look a little confused during King & Queen Of America - Annie Lennox was made up to look like Tammy Faye Bakker later Messner, an evangelist - quite famous at the time. The eyebrows on the forehead are deliberate! I think you would love some of their 1984 songs - it was a movie soundtrack album, but spawned a few singles. The most famous of which was called Sexcrime. My personal favourite from that album is called "For The Love Of Big Brother" - it is track 3. The whole thing was sorely under appreciated at the time, but it was the stepping stone towards their biggest selling album (which I played to death as a teenager on vinyl LP) Be Yourself Tonight in 1985 and a more organic, natural sound.
You totally got King and Queen of America. It was not a hit or played because it was looked at as a critique of the US and consumerism. As for I Need A Man, her influence in her vocals and performance was Mick Jagger as he had been hanging around the studio with Dave Stewart and it is said on the remasters of the Savage CD that she soaked up the Jagger effect and put it to use. Ha!
Aaawwww, i havent been to your channel in a while. Lovely... A few years back in one of your early Eurithmics reactions i wroe in here that Annie was an amazing drag queen and someone found my comment somehow insulting. This is full circle here with I love to Listen To, and I Need a Man...😆
Hello again, I have watched several of your videos now from different artists and also checked via search on your channel. I have two songs I think you would appreciate given my experience watching your reactions. The first is Steppin' Out by Joe Jackson and the second is Relax by Frankie Goes to Hollywood. I recommend the videos on both. Anyway, cheers. I am enjoying your reactions, especially a-ha. I do not get why they are not more revered in the States. Incidentally, if you also react to newer music another Scandinavian band I love is Mew and I think you would like them, too. It is kind of a dream-pop prog thing. Let me know if you would like suggestions about that band.
I saw the Eurythmics at Wembley (London) in the late 80’s - wanted to wrap them up and take them home … absolutely fantastic … we all know Annie Lennox is a great singer but live is better again and I came out of the gig thinking how underrated Dave Stewart is … wow! can he play … a larger select of guitars … a band not as widely known about as they showed be.
For Eurythmics (Ep 3), you should do The Miracle of Love, You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart, Don't Ask Me Why, I Saved The World Today. When will that be?
I don't think Annie was channeling Cher vocally because Cher has a lower, deeper voice. Annie channeled one of Cher's looks with the punk pink wig in Cher's case it was a punk purple wig. Madonna has worn a pink wig with bangs and long hair for her Top Of The Pops and Sold Gold performance of Like A Virgin. She recently wore a short pink wig for last year's NYC's Time Square Pride message video and she died her own hair pink late 2020 and just recently now. Yes, I Need A Man was the continuation of I Love To Listen To Beethoven. Again, I love your humor. I guess I'll be accepting applications too. React to their music videos for Hear Comes The Rain Again, Thirn In My Side, When Tomorrow Comes, You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart, Don't Ask Me Why, Angel and Annie's solo songs Walking On Broken Glass, No More I Love You's and This Little Bird please.
Yay! Eurythmics is such a European pop band with a twist. 'King and Queen of America' - that was all tongue in cheek, how we in Europe see America😉. 'I need a man' is a continuation of '(Love to listen to) Beethoven' - the character has comletely gone off from the forced house wife to this what we see in in 'I need a man'.
Hi again, I was wondering if you ever saw my comment/suggestions in another of your reactions. Nevertheless, I'm happy to ask again. Please take the time to look up these 3 Scottish bands/singers. You may think I'm being a bit pushy but I am 100% sure that you will love their stuff. Firstly the alt/rock band Biffy Clyro, who are very well known not only in the UK but worldwide; you might try one of these--Mountains, Many Of Horror, Wolves Of Winter, PLUS the lead singer, Simon Neil shows off his great vocals with a slow ballad/love song called Space(orchestral version). Lewis Capaldi, who is Scots/Italian. Try any or all of these--Before you go(written about his aunt's suicide), Someone You Loved(watch the version with a grey haired man with earphones and a train in the photo), Bruises, Hold Me While You Wait, Grace(the video is as funny as heck). Paolo Nutini(also Scots/Italian)---Last Request, Iron Sky, Through The Echoes, Let Me Down Easy, Coming Up Easy, No Other Way, Better Man. That should keep you busy for a wee while. From your 70 yr old Scots fan(maybe your only one, lol.).
I think the first four albums, unless you include "In The Garden", "Sweet Dreams, Touch, Be Yourself Tonight," and "Revenge" are the strongest, I didn't connect with the last few albums as much. But to each their own.
I think it is well past time to get back to O.M.D. -- almost anything you pick (that isn't one of the avant garde middle tracks) is going to be good. Seek out Joan of Arc and Maid of Orleans, or go with something newer like Kissing the Machine or Metroland.
Sorry meant to subscribe hit the wrong thing first, more or less I am now(key word), only putting full albums in my liked list. As long as they only have a hiccup at the start, of ads, Just want when like when I am using the kindle app, or playing games when the in game noise is more of a distraction. I am trying to build an at least week long, collection of music, which I will enjoy. So hello sorry for removing the like I did subscribe to keep up in the future. Is there a name I should use if you respond, the name you are using is a bit long and without using cut and paste no way I'd use it, heh. I am guessing you are a bit younger than I...so do not ignore Lennox's solo work nor the early stuff. Also there are one or two and possibly more videos of her first band on youtube . Do not recall if Dave Stewart was in that one, have not watched them often. If you want to respond use Warb it's the only nickname I accept, though I can live with Mack in small doeses, otherwise to common. Never call me Burt I am not a gay orange puppet, and it's the orange muppet part that annoys me, lol.
Annie Lennox just woke up one day and said "I need to write a drag anthem." ::BOOM:: "I need a man" dropped out of the sky.
Another great song - "You Have Placed a Chill In My Heart"
'Beethoven' video is really epic.Always loved that concept as well as 'I need a man' Annie is a real chameleon.Impressive..
Brilliant reaction, especially the stunned silence and grin when you were watching Listen to Beethoven. No one does it like Annie!
Thank you so much for watching!!
Will never understand why "I Need a Man" wasn't a bigger hit.
I think part of the reason that she gave you a Cher vibe, is that they are both in the deep contralto range, although Annie has the ability to soar higher.
Fun reaction!! More Annie, more Eurythmics!!!
Thank you for watching!!
Absolutely!!!
I know, right?! I still have the VHS! But no VCR. LOL.
Savage is an amazing album!

@@christianoazzuro6711 "Savage" is quite possibly my favourite of all Eurythmics-albums.
Beethoven and I need a man both from Savage. Front to back an amazing album with widely varied style yet woven together as you could tell by just listening to those two track. Highly recommend listening to entire album. I lived in Japan when this came out and still listen to Savage regularly
this Beethoven video... you are so right. So captivating. Also love i need a man. So raw and powerful
I need a man. Absolute Banger. My personal favourite of Annie's.
I recall seeing the Beethoven video as a teen and it left a real impression. It’s brilliant.
Thank you so much for watching! 😊
“I Need a Man” is 100% perfect to sing into a hairbrush while looking into a mirror.
Annie channelling Nancy Regan in 'King and Queen" is quite something.
Great selection and commentary as always.

Wooo! 😁 Annie is glorious, with her doing most backup vocals herself too 🥰

Once again... ..4 song format is fab 👌.

They have almost endless great songs and videos IMO😄❤🇫🇮
Another fantastic set of songs & videos, Annie has such a powerful voice and Dave Stewart is a musical genius..Thanks

I mean seriously, look at her, hear her, listen to this badass song.
Great music 🎶 Annie Lennox & Dave Stewart are great music 🎸🎤🎹🥁
Wow, you made me happy! My favourite track off the "Savage" video album (featuring "Beethoven" and "I Need A Man") is the non-single title track "Savage" ❤️
Beethoven is a masterpiece. There is a whole video album where the two characters reappear.

You are correct....I need a man video was a continuation of the Beethoven video story line....
you are right, ”i need a man” is a continuation of beethoven. like her fever dream. notice that she is playing to nobody but herself.
It's alright & King and Queen from my favourite Eurythmics album, We Too Are One ❤❤
I LOVE Watching videos with YOU!!!♥💗

Savage is my favorite album by Eurythmics, and they made an entire video album concept. The other video from this album you need to watch is You Have Place a Chill in My Heart. They still have tons of videos for you to watch. They really do great videos.
I’d never seen the video for Beethoven, so had no idea that the character in I Need a Man was a reprisal which makes it that much better.

@@PancakeMarshmallowDude OK. Thanks. I meant Thorn In My Side.
Hello, and thanks for watching! I have done a video on Lewis Capaldi, actually. You can find it here: ua-cam.com/video/9bUOauMpt8A/v-deo.html
@@PancakeMarshmallowDude That's great but please try the other two suggestions. I'm 100% sure you will approve.
I think the first four albums, unless you include "In The Garden", "Sweet Dreams, Touch, Be Yourself Tonight," and "Revenge" are the strongest, I didn't connect with the last few albums as much. But to each their own.
M.K. Multiple personas.
Annie using her Scottish 'R' X Andrew McDonald Scotland
I think it is well past time to get back to O.M.D. -- almost anything you pick (that isn't one of the avant garde middle tracks) is going to be good. Seek out Joan of Arc and Maid of Orleans, or go with something newer like Kissing the Machine or Metroland.
Pancake, who chose these videos? Why not Eurythmics early years videos, dude?
