    *WOW!* She is amazing. Even with the knowledge, you wouldn't expect the confidence to act so quickly. Especially when it is a friend. Most kids would panic and looked to an adult to save him.
    My hat is off to this girl. I'm glad she is pushing others to learn.
    If every adult had basic emergency first aid. So many lives could be saved every year.
    I learned cpr at 10, during summer camp too. In the 40+ years since, thankfully I've never had to use that training.

    Chest Compressions, But No Mouth-To-Mouth?

    • @christianmueller7352
      @christianmueller7352 8 років тому +11

      Doing some thing is better than nothing. People sometimes don't want to do mouth to mouth due to infections,etc. Look up aha American heart association

    • @Desmodontinae100
      @Desmodontinae100 8 років тому +7

      That actually is the latest recommendation for laymen. The oxygen level in your blood usually is high enough to be sufficient for up to ten minutes, or even longer. Thus it is not necessary to interrupt the blood circulation by interrupting CPR to give someone mouth to mouth.

    • @bluefan84
      @bluefan84 7 років тому +9

      Desmodontinae100 This is absolutely correct. The new recommendations have nothing to do with risk of infection, but rather the fact that if you only have one person performing CPR, it is more critical to keep the heart pumping until help arrives than it is to restore breathing. So we are no longer supposed to stop chest compressions in order to give breaths.

    CPR in school is legit. I saved two people's lives at age 22 bc I learned rescue breathing in elementary school. I was at a kickback and a couple OD'd at the same time (bad batch I guess? I don't know, I wasn't using it). Everyone else freaked out and ran away bc they didn't want to be there if the cops came. I was also scared to call 911 because it was the home of the people who were OD'ing and I didn't want them to get arrested for possession. But I managed to revive one before the other while alternating between them (it was scary, they were gurgling and turning blue and shit-- I remembered the girl was hypoglycemic which makes people OD more easily so I poured a tiny bit of soda down her throat too which was dubiously wise but I decided to roll the dice, not sure if that's why she revived), then she helped me revive the bf.

    Admirable. However if someone is severely choking or gagging: tell them to touch their toes while standing or resting beside a stabilized chair, wall, or vehicle, etc. (to basically do a safe handstand, to allow for gravity to pull the morsel out, if it’s not water they are choking on). Also use the derma roller technique BEFORE you ever get into a situation on that causes your mouth to be closed such as chewing, or if you have mucus or a cold. If you are feeding someone senior or in a wheelchair OR INFANT, remember, they must be SITTING UPRIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is IMPOSSIBLE TO CHEW OR REGAIN STABILITY OF ONES THROAT WHILE LAYING ON ANY BACKSIDE!!!!!!! DUMMIES ARE OKAY.... but rest them VERTICALLY. In my opinion: DONT TOUCH ANYONE OF THEY ARE GAGGING OR CHOKING! Just give them space!!!!!
