- Using the John Deere 200lc with Trimble Earthworks and the Engcon EC226 tiltrotator to grade out a garage floor at a 1% pitch. These two systems working together is unreal. Almost no hand work to be done! Like what you see? The problem with certain owners is that they see it as a luxury when it's truly a key to unlock the machines true potential. They have been around in Sweden since the late 80's which was when I started to work around them. They make an ordinary operator really good and a really good one absolutely great. Can't get hired without one these days. They are made for machines up to 33tons.
It’s still very much considered a “toy” in North America. There was always an endless supply of cheap labor that you could get rid of anytime, so tech investment is usually a low priority
if you work hourly, there is no point to having a tilt, if you bid contracts it spays for itself in no time, I bet the positioning system is the same but I havent got one yet. got the steelwrist tho and it is awesome
WOW! Nice to see 'engineering' at work (of course) with good operator skills. When the bucket picked up the vibrator, I thought it would do the actual vibrating too!
Amazing, the world of hydraulics to watch that bucket move like a wrist on a human. Good video! Sonny (CT)
I guess Im asking randomly but does someone know of a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly forgot my login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Kristian Julian Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm.
Takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Kristian Julian it worked and I actually got access to my account again. Im so happy:D
Thank you so much you really help me out !
@Jaxxon Jason Happy to help xD
So I’m also a job foreman for the family company. Looks like you and I have a similar job role. My dad and I have discussed the engcon and Trimble system. I’d even by happy with just the Trimble system. It looks so much more efficient than a laser and a guy walking around with a grade stick and the engcon looks incredibly handy. Looks like it saves you A LOT of tracking around. Very cool
What a great tool the tiltrotator is. That claw on the back of the hitch was something unexpected.
the claw is epic when youre on the road makes things alot easier for men on the ground
Have you ever been hit by a digger bucket? I have. And by an experienced operator that I had been working with for about 5 years and trusted with my life -because that’s what you’re doing when you work inside the boom swing of a digger for the sake of waiting 5 min, just stay out of his operating zone until he or she has stopped. All it takes is one operator slip up or hitch failure in your career and you just killed your mate and damaged their family for life.
They don’t have eyes in the back of their head -assume they haven’t seen you until they acknowledge that they have.
It’s not worth it to you or your business to push it that extra bit, because when it goes wrong everything you thought you gained plus far more than that has just gone down the tubes. You actually save far more than you would think by playing it safe.
This operator may have skills but NEVER swing over a machine cab let alone a co-worker who you can literally squash like a bug without even knowing.
Other than that interesting video 🤔
Mister Beans my dad was almost killed putting up a fence using a digger, it was his job to hold up the post as the digger operator pushed them in, my dad was standing under the bucket waiting for the bucket to come down and push in the post when a pipe for the main ram ruptured and the boom dropped, my dad jumped and the bucket fell to the ground inches away from his heel
Dara Bradley I’m so glad for you that your dad got to come home in one piece. He did very well not be hurt or even killed -but sadly it wasn’t good or bad luck that put him in that position where he had to jump for his life when the machine failed. There are components that can be installed on booms to prevent exactly what happened to your dad from happening. They are compulsory in some companies -think of how much is really saved by using them -more than money it’s people’s lives.
But this raises another interesting point because actually serious injury at work can change your life and your family’s lives forever, in the blink of an eye. Think about how you want your life to be when you’re retired -fishing?.. golf?.. playing with the grandkids? Throwing a football around, playing catch or tennis in the back yard.. walk at the beach.. we don’t have to be broken down old people at 65.
Play it safe people, take care of yourself and the people around you and go home in as good condition as when you left for work or even better. Do it for your family 👍
Mister Beans this happened about 15-16 years ago and thankfully he lived to tell the tale, they had been using an old Hymac digger which didn’t have any of the safety equipment found on modern machines, I think it’s fair to say someone was watching over him that day. Thanks for your concern
It doesn't even have to be the operators fault (even tho it's probably the most common reason). A guy here in Sweden with close to 40 years of experience managed to kill himself, simply by taking a "shortcut". He was laying pipe in a trench on his own property, and had to adjust something. So he just lifted the bucket straight up, jumped in to the trench, and the bucket came of the attachment and fell 7-8 feet on to his head, killing him instantly. Police investigations came to the conclution that the "ears" on the bucket were severly worn and cracked, making them come lose and killing the guy.
So the basic rule is, NEVER stand or work directly under any piece of machinery. And never swing equipment directly over someone...
Never trust a machine. Dirt ninja is no doubt a surgeon with his excavator but complacency and machines are very dangerous. Just cus the laborer is dumb enough to jump out there doesn't make it ok to put him in danger. Tell them to stay out of the work space until you're done. If they gave him the opportunity they wouldn't have much to do anyway.
Wow. My jaw was already dropped and then the clam opens up and grabs the packer!!

You have adopted the Swedish way of using an excavator. Now you should start looking at making the wheelloader more "swedish" im thinking GPS for the loader and a bm adapter so you can change from buckets to forks etc. Great driving also!
Just what I was about to comment,
And extra fun that the tiltrotator is from strömsund in northern Sweden👍
Wheel loaders are the most overused piece of equipment on a job site. Imagine what you can do with a gps on a track loader. Now there is a useful machine.
@@bmvlogs4740 Yeah sure, very handy when you need to drive on paved roads to unload a truck somewhere! Tracks are not as useful imo
So cool to see a tilt rotator in the states, it is indeed a great invention! :D I dream about having one, one day.
Nice Job ! I also work with a tiltrotator (kinshofer nox) ,and i'ts pretty cool to see that somebody uses that same little ''tricks'' as me for grading , and i'ts true ..you've got a lot appreciation from handworkers :-) . The only downside for me is the stability loss on my wheeled excavator and my boss won't pay for a trimble ;-) . Greetings from Belgium
Love the close up on the screen, exceillent intigration my man!!!
When I worked on building sites we did that job with a shovel, and a damned sight more quickly. And nobody stood around watching either! Digger operators do differ.I could work near the bucket with one of the men,but I wouldn't get into the trench with one of the other chaps at the controls. Only fast reactions prevented me getting my head smashed on one occasion was enough for me! The dipper swung around too fast and I hit the ground just in time,I dived flat and that saved my life.
badassss...great camera shot, the future of dirt work
Love your videos man wish you’d post more! As a young operator I love watching and learning new techniques!
Thanks for watching! I am super busy and post as much as I can. I will try and do more!
Great tool. I would recommend looking at an Auto GPS excavator from Leica Geosystems. Just has more options.
ua-cam.com/video/eY3OmxM5mhg/v-deo.html
All those video games finally pay off. Very impressive.
That right there is the reason why I would hire you back! Attention to detail and made that job so much quicker!
Thanks!
Man I wish I had that rotating head when I was building my boulder retaining wall. What a game changer!
Hot damn you work fast!
Just started my excavator training to become an operator. Great to be able to see your skills in first person view.
That is bad ass. I’m all tensed up in my chair watching. Good work
You are skilled at what you do man
Holy cow I love that attachment I have a 48grade bucket still learning though I can't wait to get that good!
good luck for the two shoveling guys keeping their jobs! :D
You're an artist. very impressive.
Where do you think the future is going with these technologies?
Its fun watching your learning curve with the engcon. You're clearly a talented operator and the tilt rotator bucket is clearly a difficult thing to master since there is so much going on at once. Keep it up and you'll be as good as Duckgirl :P
Duckgirl is GREAT!
haha thanks! Duckgirl is very good! I have learned a lot from her videos!
I’ve seen duckgirl with my own eyes, she’s not as good as she looks on video !.
@@DirtNinja is it possible to use an external laser with your present in-cab equipment?, i get that there need to be a rotating laser on site, and a reciever on your boom/stick, but can it be presented in your Trimble???
This has been standard in Sweden like 10 years , but from what i read in comments is like its something very uncommon in US ? I mean using a engcon/ steelwrist whatever brand of tiltrotors? . Iam an excavator operator myself and there is like ZERO machines here without it.
Here where im working,on a brand new machine they don't wanna buy any of those equipment, like it is unnesesary luxury, and i do a lot of work under water level,we are 20 years behind Scandinavian countries.
How much do the Engcon Tiltrotors cost? Canadian? Lol
I have one with only tilting head, no rotation.. so they do exist. ;) But you probably mean owned by companies that make money and then it's almost true.
same in norway
This is some years after your comment and in the US I have still never seen anything even similar to this in person. Only seen them in UA-cam videos. We do all of our work old school still. I assume the companies just don’t think it’s necessary to invest for this. This is like watching science fiction lol
looks like a huge learning curve but a very rewarding one
Ive said this before and will say again. You need to use the buckets straight section on the back as a guide when leveling. Saves the machine and works way better than scraping with the lip.
Kepuuu- yep defo
Straight section has more resistance i guess?
Gerard Braam Yes it does but does not affect when bucket is that small and the excavator is decent sized. I personally only spread material with the lip roughly and level it off with the buckets flat back against surface, like everyone else here in Finland.
That’s some mad skills using some real nice equipment
That bucket is amazing, but I doubt it would work where I am at. I deal with nothing but rock, large and small, jagged and round.
This machine is near priceless for grading work like this. To do the same work even with a powered machine would take 15-20 additional minutes.
Ridiculously efficient!
That little grabber must come in handy! Easily picked up plate compactor
What a killer setup!
Efficiency at it finest! Great job!
love your work , and man does that machine have some reach !!!😀😀😀
haha thanks! yes it does!
That is one amazing tool!! Just started watching your channel. New sub here for sure!
Thanks for following!
To The Top Crane oooooo
Swedish Steel 💪
In Sweden you hardly see an excavator whitout tiltrotator 👍
To The Top Crane what is his name
@@mrolsen6987 every excavator in sweden i have seen has a tiltorator on it. I think i have never seen one without one
Dudes a beast with that thing
Fantastic operator's view. What a bad ass machine
I would love to use that tool on my excavator. Great technology
Outstanding, I have used engcon for levelling iron ore train wagons hear in Western Australia Koolyanobbing Minesite, must invest in one of your shirts. Now loading Komatsu 730e Trucks with Wa1200. Keep videos coming. Skip
Thanks awesome. Check out my website for a shirt! www.thedirtninja.com
Wow. Pretty soon they won't need us anymore! The machine shows up and does it all
Hey dirt ninja, What about fabricating a triangle bucket to get gradein the corners but also grade the pad as well?
well..this is pretty impressive
didn´t even know that there are shovels that can do that
One amazing operator! From an operator!
So my tongue is on the floor over this epic tilt bucket and hitch....then the f*"*" thing picks up the dpu with some magic claw!!!!! How much was thing and what size excavator are you using?
PS you make that look bloody easy with that bucket and gps
Do all modern-day ops not have eyes anymore . Been an op for 39 odd years all I've used are my eyes and my arsh ...dying skills
How does this work? Laser? Through hydraulics? GPS?
itts this is done my GPS it’s the same systems as in piste machines. Which is my job! And I love it!
Thanks for sharing! How often do you do your bucket measure up and calibration to compensate for the wear of the cutting edge does the Trimble adjust automatically?
The wear of the cutting edge? That's nothing.
As we say here in Ireland it's civil engineering not precision engineering laad
This machine is called the “Fire more Laborers”😂😂😂🤷♂️
Not according to the video. They have a ton of laborers. What they did with that bucket alone would require 1 laborer max. In NE America, the same thing would be seen with 1 operator with a fixed bucket with one laborer. I bet those laborers in the video are paid more as well.
If more can be done with less labor, the cost should go down. Instead, we are all getting screwed in cost and the few are getting rich while the rest are getting poor. No one person "earn" $1,000,000 a year. Not a single person does. They all "make" that money off the backs of those who get screwed over by doing all the work to earn that money and are forced to accept pay that is well beneath their work.
In Indonesia, there is no type of excavator that is equipped with the tiltotator engine feature
That's a ass kicking Excavating monster. Hey I really don't know how good you are? But if your on that you probably earned it. That's a diesel demon bad boy. I'd love to get on that. To cool
Cool what country is this in ..... tidy setup. What size digger?.
I'd like to see the gains this machine could make in digging the hole in the first place. But a stone slinger with a good operator would make this look even easier. Imo
Awesome work, up to the 5 minute mark when, as I cringed, your colleagues started walking and more importantly working under a working excavator boom. Work practices differ ofcourse, maybe I'm just too safety concious, after all I'm not an excavator operator myself. I have however had to take care of someone who got partly crushed between a bucket and the machine after it's operator had a heart attack at an inopportune moment (although, lets face it those all occur at inopportune moments). Let me be clear though, I am not faulting you, your work or your work safety, merely got me to cringe from personal experiences.
I totally understand what you are saying and safety is super important to me. I never had the bucket over someone or even close to over someone. I know a few spots looks close but the perspective of the camera doesnt help.
Oh I don't think the bucket is even close, it wasn't even close in my event to the guy that lost his arm either. As I said the operator had a medical emergency and actuated the arm roll in which brought the bucket in right quick, too quick for the guy between the bucket and the machine to get out of the way. But it is as you say, you are aware of it and work has to be expedient too. Some risks are judged small enough to be managable. Keep up the good work and great content.
In ireland for start no hi-vis vest, hard hat or boots dont come on site and you would be ran it you were in between moving bucket no matter how good of a driver they are
If a health and safety inspector saw it happen they would shut the whole site down too many death and injury claims
Not say your a bad/unsafe driver or anything just regulation here
Mr.Boots The whole OH&S is catching up to the entire industry. In Canada we need work procedures right down to ladder use. No everyone complies, but just a matter of time.
Dirt Ninja being a 360 driver myself I could see you were working safe. The bucket looks real close to the guys but the camera puts it out of perspective so I can understand the other people's comments. Rest assured people the driver was in full control.
That looks so cool
Beautiful work
You're a very good operator
Very good! Is a grading beam on your wishlist?
Sure is! Ill have one eventually
#tonkaporn
Love the videos, I’m learning to grade now
If you dont mind saying, what did earthworks cost you to put on your machine without autos?
Saves on running a wheelbarrow up and down 2x12's.
Even more fun when all you got is a 2x6 and a couple 2x4's to make it over a foundation lip lol
With the engcon setup and cat hoe do you have to do any modifications to the cat quick attach to hook onto the engcon?
nice and good job. you are smart operator excavator
Hey guys, great channel my friend, I wish I new how to get views, ide prob upload more....
نلمنقمتمقتهقخ
Forgive me if this is a stupid question (im not a heavy equipment operator). Is there a button that locks the buckets elevation once you start sweeping the boom or is it just pure skill that you maintain the controls so good? Its incredible to me how accurate you are in such detail work with that big excavator.
No there is not on this machine. It is an option you can get, called "automatics" but I dont have it on my machine.
That's cheating! XD
great video
Does it tell degrees of bucket
Hey Tom sorry to keep buggin you with questions but I’ve been watching your videos trying to answer my question but I can’t find what I’m looking for. We got a new cat 325f with the Trimble TD520 installed. For some reason it is reading the laser but not accepting it. The cat tech been down 3 days in row now and we’ve gotten no where. When it dectects the laser strike it beeps but the icon on the display doesn’t light up to accept laser strike or decline it. (Doesn’t matter if in auto accept mode or not). Is the icon suppose to light up or do something when it detects laser strike?? Thanks
Great tool, if you don't have it you have to rely on your skills... I think I'll stick to my regular bucket for everything.
What 2d system are you using? Is it directly from engcon? If so, does it work similar to idig system, i have a rototilt because engcon doesnt provide much here in canada, thinking about adding an idig , could be move around my excavators, tried it?
Can u please do an update on the 289d
For a small landscaping company that puts about 100 hours on their mini ex per year setting steps, boulders, excavating, and grading etc would you recommend a Trimble system or tilt rotator for it? Could that system pay for itself or be worth it since we only use it 100hrs out of the year? Thanks for another great video👍
no save ya money
Yes, get the trimble system first. I think that is a better and cheaper investment at first. Once you learn what it can do you will probably start to use the machine more and more as well.
the trimble system (with laser) works perfectly for complete projects from start to finish... starting from the layout at first (grade check) going on to excavation as well as working with filling materials like gravel and sand... land scaping work as well as stone walls and ditches/drainage trenches... there are tilt rotators for mini excavators as well but they cost nearly the same as the big ones...
so it is way more cost effective to get the trimble system at first because if you have a laser you connect it with you can use the laser for all the other surrounding works as well... the tilt rotator system makes sense when you do a lot of work with pipes and sewers... because then you can work around those things without repositioning the machine (the smaller machines lose a a bit more lifting capacity compared to the big ones when you scale those units up)
I am with the Ninja... if possible... get the trimble system first and then once you are used to it think about maybe getting the tilt rotator as well... perhaps with a larger machine
Bloody skill was amazing
I was just wondering? I have seen that other guy that likes Volvo. And this young man seems to like cat. And with all the brands to choose from witch one will last the best under hard hours? I mean as for as purchase price and repair price ? After say 5000 hours if that's alot for these machines. With all the same set ups. What would list the longest with lots of hard hours?? Thanks
How big is your operation? If you aren't big enough to get corporate recognition from the company you are buying from, then I would just focus on the local dealer.
Even if you buy the best machine on the market, but your local dealer is a pain in the ass, it will be horrible.
And all equipment is pretty good nowadays if you are buying new, usually there aren't that many differences between them in performance.
I have a question about engcon joysticks. Could it have been possible to use unused buttons to control the Trimble rather than using external buttons.
yes it is
Like a surgeon!
👍
when swing is operating, is the boom automatically being controlled to regulate bucket tip height?
No.
I work without computers. I feel boring. My boss do not want to get those "magic tools". I follow.
great vid i like the claw feature
Thanks! Yes the grabber is awesome!
Technology can really work wonders.
Sure can!
What make of machine is it?
Now do it with a mini excu that rocks back and forth :D
Jk, pretty nice but I can do same without 3D and 360 head.
Fantastic video 👌🏼
I'm interested for work as operator excavator.
Do you accept m'y application.?
what country do you work?
Wish my old man had one when I was a kid I used to do that all by hand lol
Very good operator.
Is that Luke Barnes from Game Of Thrones in the black jacket?
Ho yes love what i see , but not to close to guy's working .
Whats the Name of this tool?
попробывал бы он так на МТЗ поработать)
When the 2 dudes standing there with the hands in pocket look because they know once this thing comes out with a compactor mode they no longer have a job lol that is one cool setup! Nice work from some pissed off kids mothers bedroom and yes I’ll be eating his fruit snacks at lunch tomorrow
it already out here in sweden and its been out for long
this is pretty awesome.
Cool technology on tap for sure. But after watching the guy use an older excavator to stack beer bottles and top them with a golf ball; personally, I wouldn't be too concerned. Always enjoy watching someone with serious skills. Practice makes......well, near perfect anyway.
Real nice job!
Good Operator!!! Cool Tool,
Slick! Amazing machine.
The evolution of electronics and large machinery is amazing!
I couldn't stand someone standing there watching me the whole time lol
Yes that's a great machine
