But you don’t know things that were just claimed by a notorious conman. Joseph even contradicted himself over and over on the first vision. And completely changed his theology & thus altered the Book of Mormon as well from 1830 to 1837. It’s all an abusive con, Joseph and all the rest.
@krismurphy7711 Indeed, he even changed the theology in the book of Mormon to match his later versions of the first vision. Because the 1930 book of Mormon matched his modalist theology that he had in 1830. By 1837 he had abandoned modalism so he changed the book of Mormon to take modalism out of the Book of Mormon. Joseph changed a lot of different, theological matters over the years to suit whatever narrative he had at any given point in time.
@timmiestabrnak perhaps it was you who was deceived. By their fruits Ye shall know them. THE New Testament Church of Jesus Christ is restored in these Latter-day Saints and as the restored Church, the Book of Mormon, Priesthood power, prophets and apostles as foundation once again, the restitution of all things, revelation, saving ordinances, the need for temples and building them worldwide, and the fullness of Christ's doctrine, which is the Infinite Atonement of Jesus Christ, came after Joseph Smith was called by God and had His Vision, and how he translated the book by the gift and power of God has changed the world for the better. So much better. The fruits are good which means Joseph Smith is what he says he is. The counterfeits, lies, twists and manipulations to try and discredit him and the Restored Church fail and will continue to. You can choose to be in unbelief but the fruits that are good you cannot change. The desperate need for Satan to deceive many is in full force before Christ's return on earth. This dispensation won't have another Apostacy as His Church won't be taken from the earth again, but individuals run the risk of falling into Apostacy as their hearts fail them and allow Satan's deceptions to overtake them through unbelief and sin. We are truly blessed to have the further light and knowledge that the Restored Gospel brings in its fullness with good fruit bearing witness. Faith over fear. Faith in Jesus Christ. Faith is what brought Joseph to ask God and the course of the world changed too. Thank gooodness! He has taught many that God will answer our individual concerns, righteous desires if we are not in unbelief and lack faith. Good luck!
Thank you! I have needed this video to send to my husband. He is not a member of the church and I have been trying to get him to understand more about the Book of Mormon. I want him to come unto his faith on his own so I share these kind of videos.
Did you tell him about the conflicting accounts of the first vision? How they involved with Joseph’s changing, evolving, contradicting theology? Did you tell him about how Joseph was a convicted con man? Did you tell your husband how Joseph Smith and your other presidents married children? Or how your current president worked with Republicans to avoid protecting LDS kids, how he worked with them to hide church knowledge of abuse from law-enforcement?
Tell him about how Joseph Smith bragged about doing more than Jesus for holding a church together. Which is crazy enough that anyone would brag about being above Jesus and doing more than Jesus, but Joseph Smith also famously did not hold a church together, people left him while he was still alive and he did not lay out clearly how the church was to proceeded after he died, and the church split Into many different factions actions.
@@timmiestabrnak Joseph was referring to the number of actual followers Jesus had while He had walked on the earth. Jesus didn't have too many. Smith was not bragging to be ABOVE Jesus Christ... he was bragging BECAUSE of Jesus Christ. Please try and keep the story straight. K??
As a convert I've happily shared my conversion story numerous times on my mission and throughout my life. I've never told my story the same way. That would be fake and not organic. When you share a story, there is always going to be space for different versions of the story unless you are a robot.
You also haven’t claimed to see God and Christ…If you did would you fail to tell people that you SAW GOD and JESUS every time you tell the story??? I would have a hard time forgetting that detail to anyone. Differences in story slight variations sure, but not the most important details of the event unless it was made up right? Learning this was devastating to me I couldn’t do the mental gymnastics to get around it…
@jordanwebb5794 I look at Jesus and Heavenly Father as one. Like the Savior asks us to in the scriptures. In this sense mentioning God or Jesus is the same as reference to them both. It's not mental gymnastics, it's just following what the scriptures teach. John 14:9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?
I am looking forward to learning more about the settings and background of the Doctrine and Covenants through these videos this year. So grateful for all these study materials.
I’m a convert who investigated the church for 20 years before finally being baptized. While my testimony is consistent, the process took a long time. When I bear my testimony in church or to people I’m interacting with, the facts are the same but I choose to emphasize certain segments based on circumstances and audience. So I see no problem or “inconsistencies” in the First Vision.
The different versions of Joseph Smith’s first vision are completely inconsistent, he changes his entire theology on God. And in line with him changing his narrative of the first vision, changing his theology, he also changed what he put in the book of Mormon from 1830 to 1837.
@barbarad.517 I converted to the church in 1984....all these years I learn more and more, no matter what all those people, who are against the. Church say......they don't know what we know, if we have question, we ask Heavenly Father and listen to the Prophet
I testify , being one of millions of members of the church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints across the world ( me in the Netherlands ), that the first vision REALLY happened and that it is True , that God the Father and His son Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith, and that he ( Joseph Smith ) is the Prophet of the restoration of Christ’s Church here on the Earth , in Jesus name , Amen !!!
Which one? The different stories, Joseph told, contradict. Joseph changed the stories and altered the Book of Mormon over time to suit his power& thoughts. He didn’t meet nor serve God.

Hello Casey! My daughter and I met you at the John Johnson house last spring when you were filming these church history videos. Wonderful video. I’m so excited for these history insights this year!
Oh, thank you for this. I have had a testimony of the First Vision since I was introduced to the Church 50 years ago. I love that you have explained his various accounts. Thanks, I love the fact that God and Jesus Christ came to Joseph Smith so personally yet has affected me. It has sunk deep in my heart.
Hello Casey, thanks for your work in putting together this video! Hope you have great success as you produce additional materials about important topics!
I loved this. The moment I first heard the argument about the different retellings of the vision, I immediately knew it didn’t matter. I’ve told stories to numerous people of the same event and the pace, words, intensity, etc.
1:51 -- First Recorded Account 1832 Account - "Never published during Joseph Smith's lifetime, and we don't even discover it until the in 1940's...Personal Account including history as a young man, and his personal quest for salvation...Less about finding the right church, and more about finding God." 5:36 -- Second Recorded Account 1835 Account - "Recorded in (his journal) in Joseph's home. Describes several details that weren't in the earlier account." 9:48 -- Third Recorded Account 1838 Account - "This is the cannon account of the First Vision. It's Joseph Smith's official history. Understanding the context of what was going on in Joseph Smith's life helps us understand...emphasized certain things that he didn't in other accounts of the First Vision. Precise dates, exact locations, background context and detail." 11:58 -- Fourth Recorded Account 1842 Account - "This one is popularly known as the Wentworth Letter...We actually don't have the original letter...Part of the letter was cannonized and placed in the Pearl of Great Price, specifically the 13 Articles of Faith." 13:52 -- If you are shaken because there are different accounts of the First Vision, and that they don't always exactly agree their details. "What do you think about the accounts of Jesus's Ministry and Resurrection? We have a variety of accounts and they don't match. John has a completely different view than Matthew, Mark and Luke...Seek knowledge and don't stop at assumptions. Don't assume that what you think you know is knowledge." 16:12 --- "Your present situation shapes the way you remember...I think that the 1832 autobiography we hear wha The Vision was like to Joseph at the time, but the vision comes to mean more over time." Stephen Prothero -- "...be more skeptical if Joseph produced these carbon copy accounts throughout his life as if he were conspiring than if Joseph produces spontaneous ones."
They don’t add more detail what they have is conflicting details, showing the fact that Joseph Smith, Overtime, changed the narrative of what he claimed happened To match his involving theology. And just like those conflict, the various different scriptures that he wrote Conflict.
I love Scripture Central and the amazing things I learn there! So much to know and learn are at our fingertips. The work is being hastened! I also love the visual that accompany the spoken word! How can I find out about the new artwork produced in these podcasts? Thank you!!
Thanks for all you and all who are involved do. It's been a while since I've listened to the Church History Matters Podcast because life gets busy, but I want to say this channel and that podcast open my mind and strengthen my own testimony. So enjoyable and enlightening to watch and listen too. Thank you!
I appreciate the video and the explanation of the settings. What I don't understand is that several people have simply stated their happiness in our faith and then several others have replied negatively to those comments to discount those experiences and their happiness. Why does it bother someone because we are happy in our faith? I also find it odd that many of these same negative commenters parrot things that have been said for almost 200 years as if they were new and shocking even when the video itself addresses several of those points. I have seen a clear difference in who I am and how I perceive myself since joining the church. I also can't discount the numerous miracles I have experienced that verify that my faith is true. I'm not going to be crushed by some rando on UA-cam who is grumpy because of where I go on Sunday mornings. The entire Doctrine and Covenants is a record of the tutelage of Joseph Smith. Even as a prophet, he had to learn many things to properly comprehend what he experienced. Nothing surprising or shocking there.
This is the best explanation of the many versions of the first vision. It is the best explanation I've ever had explaining why, where, and how each of these were written. Thank you for all the research and effort into explaining this for everyone. Thank you, I Love Joseph
I love these videos. Thank you for all these precious details and sources of information. I love finding things out on my own as well. Very helpful. Thank you
I love the First Vision stories, all of them and am so glad he recorded them! It and the witnesses of the Book of Mormon are why I joined the Church I had been looking for! Thank you for these explanations!
Thank you Casey I know that the story the account is unbelievable but yet I believe it! If someone does exactly what James chapter 1 verse 5 indicates, then there is a specific promise and God does not break his promises and if there is anyone that had real intent over all these years, it was Brother Joseph; he was absolutely expecting an answer when he went into that Grove, it is a fascinating story!
God also gave you a brain , look at Joseph’s real history ( not the whitewashed version ) then move on to Brigham young , Did you know who legalized slavery in the state of Utah ? Bet you’ll never guess !
In a religious context I've seen and see The word vision most often refers to a dream or a sort of daydream Perhaps though that's less important than the fact that most Abraham religions that I've seen They are death cults A fake version of god their "version" of a "GOD" of animal and human sacrifice
There's a video on UA-cam that tells the story of two men---both of them top in their respective fields---that didn't even know each other. Both of them sought separately to unlock the exact day our Heavenly Father and the Savior personally appeared to 14-year-old Joseph Smith. One of the two men was an expert in calendars. The other man was a NASA scientist. Working separately, both men came up with the same date: March 26, 1820. One of the things the men came up with (through research) was that March 26 was the only day in that cluster of days that was a sunny, fairly warm day. The video is very interesting and worth watching. I understand Church leaders don't put an exact date on the First Vision. The material presented in the video is interesting and viable.
I want to ad to this explanation that in some way Joseph Smith at his first vision was not able to describe it in exact way he experience it, 1 - several things happened at the same time. The human language is LINEAL. also, the kind of vocabulary he had at that moment with the emotions generated by the vision, it would not allow him to process it appropriately.3 - It is very difficult to describe an event which happened in different realm that he lives in and needed to explain or describe. The first vision is a great documented theophany that we are aware of during modern times. It is not surprise for me he made 3 different accounts, especially when we can consider Joseph’s advanced language acquisition through his life ( translation of the BOM, the Bible, studies of Hebrew, revelations etc). and interacting with his family and the community . He must have an amazing progress on his language skills. I am Speech Therapist and I am able to comprehend his 3 different accounts. None of us were born with the same language we have as adults,
Well said! Language fails to capture something as profound as the First Vision. The accounts are really meant to introduce us to our own search for God.
Wonderful insight. I will quibble with Mr Harper at 17:48 description. Joseph did not have a “persecution complex” as the term is frequently used today. He and the saints were simply being persecuted.
In the court of law, witnesses gain credibility when their story is consistent and they lose credibility when their story changes. This is especially true with major details such as how many people were present during the event. Why would we not use the same method here? I think it’s because people’s lives and identity hinge on this event taking place. As an outsider, the logic is very unconvincing.
You are applying a measure as if he is in a court of law like some hostile approach it seems or parameters as if he is in a court of law. Didn't you watch the environments, circumstances, events that occurred when telling each account? He was consistent in his message for sure and never denied it. The overall details give us great insight into his experience and the fruits of it is miraculous and amazing to what has unfolded because of it. Hostile approach or picking deliberate parameters that fit your marrative will never increase faith and that's what many in unbelief and disbelief use as their approach or justifications for trying to decrease faith, increase skepticism and criticisms. You can choose to not believe and not exercise faith but I promise offering a sincere heart, and increased faith brings a whole new aspect to asking God about this account. It's marvelous.
My wife likes to make me share my conversion story to other people, especially missionaries (I guess she believes it can help them for reasons I wont read here). However, I don't know how many times she has come to me afterwards and saif things like "you have never said that before" or "you left this out". The thing is, and she knows that, that I always think about who I talk to, and sometimes they need to hear a specific part or perhaps I get the feeling something need to be untold. Sometimes I even mix up or forget things despite having shared it so many times 😂 I don't believe there's anything weird about the accounts at all. What I find interesting is that I attended a lecture in forensic psychology one time where the professor stated that we should be sceptical if a person gives testimonies that don't have any great variety in details despite it being given to different people, 'cause those testimonies are possibly scripted
I am very grateful for Joseph, his wife Emma and his family., and for the friends who stood by him through all of the persecution. Each version of The First Vision was true, just emphasizing certain things in each. He was called to be God's Prophet of the latter days. It's hard to imagine how difficult things were, and how much he was given to accomplish and to be obedient to God's commands. It shows how well the Lord knew him and how He knew the time was right for the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through Joseph, His instrument in bringing it forth to the world. Thank you for this video and testimony.
As a person grows in years and mentality, they use different phrasing and descriptions in relating memories. If the wording and description never changed it would be scripted. He always testified of the truth.
vision 🤔 does the church say "vision" or "actual event" what's the claim Although all words should have I think one definition maybe except for the word free The word vision has multiple meanings Most often in religion Vision is the equivalent of a dream A sort of daydream
Hi, I started to be concerned about different accounts because the scriptures were translated accurately on a first pass. At the conclusion of the video, I understand how these accounts can differ. Thank you!
I testify that Joseph Smith a prophet of restoration. I know that he is a Prophet, small voice whispering me during my question to the full time missionaries Sis Cabrera and Sis Kho they answered my question in Amos 3:7
Does the church claimed it was a "vision" or actual event I have seen and see is the word vision in religion most often refers to a dream or a sort of daydream
I have written a great deal of my personal accounts in life and no two are ever the same, not even close. Your mind takes hold of different aspects of your experiences and the setting in which you write has a great deal to do with recall and emphasis. It has long been an element of historical veracity that accounts of the same event written exactly alike are very suspect. Hence the reasonable belief in the differing Gospels in the NT. Had they been exactly the same, though written by different authors, written at different times, and in any of a multitude of settings, no experienced historian would believe such accounts. It is not how the mind works amidst the changing fortunes of life.
Joseph knew, that a prophet can only be called by God himself. It would have made his life much easier, when he would have just told another simple story about how he was called. Many other religious founders of his time just told those stories like: I read the Bible and the Holy Spirit told me to do so and so. I like the way Daniel received a similar vision in Daniel 10 in the old testament. It has so many similarities with how Joseph received his revelation. You don't have to believe his story, but Daniel's vision shows that this kind of vision has happened before. Maybe not God himself but through a heavenly person like an angel received Daniel his vision! I love his account!
In order to understand Smith's confusion about which church to trust it is important to look at church publications from that time period. The churches were absolutely vehement towards each other. There was sheer hatred of anyone who believed even a few notions differently then the approved doctrines of said churches.. Look up the news prints of that time period and prepare to get your ears singed. By today's standards the "great revivals" of that time would be deeply insulting, and divisive. When radicals like Smith popped up they were hated even more.
@ I know more about my religion than you do, stop attempting to tear at other’s faith. I hope you are prepared to be judged in the very same manner you judge others.
Let’s share every vision the people of his day had. They are all amazingly similar. Crazy how there isn’t one contemporary account in a journal or letter or newspaper or meeting minutes that he had this vision until 12 years later. 🤷🏼♀️
Can you provide evidence of these similar accounts or are we supposed to just take your word for it? So, everything you claim that happened during your teenage years didn't really happen because you didn't write it down then and it wasn't published in the newspaper? Your arguments are nonsensical. Did any of these "similar" accounts have follow up experiences where a book like the Book of Mormon was produced? You are grasping at straws in an attempt to support your preconceived false narratives!
When the dude says " We can choose to be hostile or trusting towards joseph... that tells more about us than the documents.... " bro, many people have accounts of things happening that we are not believing of and even hostile towards. Does that say the same thing about us if we questioned those stories the same way as if we questioned Joseph? And then making a comparison of different gospels vs the accounts of one person, joseph smith. These are weak arguments to support joseph. But the strong argument is how memory and recounting stories work. That is an obvious phenomenon with myself and nearly everyone I know, especially over time and in different situations when recounting.
Ever notice with religions the word vision tends to most often refer to a dream or a sort of daydream There's no distinction offered in this video or explanation of the word vision hmmm 🤔
Either Joseph Smith was the greatest deciever the world has ever known, or he was a Prophet of God. I have had a spiritual exerience that he was a Prophet of God.
Martin Luther left 3 or 4 accounts of his inspiration to challenge the Catholic practices of his time and they vary widely. He only mentions the role of the Holy Spirit in the last one. Yet I find them believable. This is simply how memory works.
You should be aware that image your repeatedly promoting as Joseph isn’t him and I am more than a little concerned how you are pretending it is a fact.
@Charity never Faileth. You say this like you were their and knew him. You weren't. So yes I believe him implicitly. I've never met him but I know that what he saw and what he says is true. I would follow him any where at any cost. I am in to my 81st year, have been a member my whole life, have served a mission, and have testified of this more times than I can count because I believe it to be true.
Jojo was good at telling tall tales. No surprise there were multiple accounts. Growing up in the church we were only told about 1. In those days multiple others would've been antiMormon lies. Today the antiMormon lies are church essays, constant changeing goalposts and gaslighting apologetics. Tbms will swallow it so long as it feels nice, whether its factual or not.
Is it difficult to also to have a conversation with somebody in a car with the music playing in the background or at home Many Church videos have music playing in the background all the time Most every TV show DJ's on the radio There's lots of noise just in the world how do you survive
While in England, Wilford Woodruff was attacked by Satan, like Joseph was attacked prior to the first vision. Joseph Smith does not include the attack by Satan in all 9f his accounts of the first vision, but I know it happened, because a similar attack happened to me when I was in my early 20s. I could not move, I could not speak, many voices from devils were assaulting my brain. It took all my effort, and prayer to deliver me from this assult by Satan. I have yet experienced fully why Satan came after me so hard, but I believe I will know in the not too distant future.
Why did he wait 12 years to say anything about seeing the Lord and then ultimately change his story to seeing God and Jesus? I mean no disrespect but that’s an astounding detail to leave out…. I’m so confused!!! Can someone legit help me understand this?
well presented with wording to appear these are facts but its still guessing why there is 4 very different accounts and should have that disclaimer. truth is truth. even if its hard to swallow. trust is built upon full transparency not partial truths and broken with hiding even small lies with misinformation.
@@mimcreative8070 The point that was made here is that these are not partial truths but different accounts. And another point I’d like to make is that faith is trust in God. It does not depend upon research or debate or skepticism.

The 1832 account differs more than just the one personage only mentioned. I use it as a template for why a church is bad. Joseph called the others hypocrites and said thet don't follow the NT Church, I found this out through studying the Bible, and now I can start my own Church. It sounds like an evangelical testimony.
This really is hard to believe Sounds like magic Logically there is no grounds to stand on here There’s no way of knowing if this is true There’s not one single evidence that supports it Why do we need more than the gospel of Jesus Christ? He died on the cross for us Is that not sufficient? I believe the gospel of Jesus Christ is that we are saved through faith in Jesus Christ and loving others I think it also says anyone who adds to or takes away from this gospel will be. What’s the word acursed
Do you believe that the Holy Ghost can confirm truth as he did to the disciples on the Road to Emmaus, or the crowd on the Day of Pentecost? I believe God can answer whether it is true or not. It isn't on me or anyone to debate scripture with you. Study the Book of Mormon and pray if it is God's word. That's what I did and that is why I joined the church.
I think Joseph was torn between good and evil. He certainly had to be inspired to bring The Book of Mormon to us. However, he was not always honest . He lied to Emma about polygamy. He was already married to Elyza Snow before Emma knew about it. Not to mention the others . He was not sealed to Emma right away. I don't think he was a bad man I think he strived for truth . He was caught. He had dark and light in him. Palmyra was a hotbed of paranormal thoughts and mysticism, it still is. Why is it that members of the church still deny he had plural wives? Emma was present for some. Yet, in later years , she would deny he practiced polygamy. I think she wanted to leave him as a hero . For all Emma went through. She was the brave one . Emma's father did not like Joseph. I think he saw this side of Joseph. He also had a printing press burned . I don't think members get the full account. He did much good . He struggled with light and dark. Why don't we read ALl of section 132 in D and C ? Every part. I struggle with some of this doctrine and covenants I'm not against the church.. Everything is based on him. I will always believe in Jesus Christ,my Savior. I don't always know if this book is true at all times. He certainly had visions. I have had visions in my life . I don't deny people can have visions and revelation. For his part , he would never intentionally hurt anyone. I think as I said , he battled with good and evil personally.
So all those accepting this as an explanation of why there are multiple versions told by the same person and why the church historian, a prophet, lied and hid it for decades, ask yourself, would you accept a revisionist history explanation from a different religion similar to this? If this answer, which is NO, then you aren’t looking for truth, you are looking for a way to explain away discrepancies because you want to, not because it actually makes sense.
I'm still not buying it. Sounds pretty fishy. Leaving out pertinent information doesn't help either. Sorry. I don't mean to be critical of your efforts. God bless in coming to the truth.
I find it disappointing how members of the church have to attempt to give episodes like this validity. The opinion of why there are so many different accounts as if Joseph Smiths vision is still only the one the church uses as the official account is problematic. Joseph Smith was witnessed by so many people attempting to always con or trick people. It was a survival technique imo. God gave him a gift to be a great storyteller. This is the exact reason for this episode. He con'd people into making videos attempting to build him up and protect him.

Learning this was devastating to me I couldn’t do the mental gymnastics to get around it…
@jordanwebb5794
I look at Jesus and Heavenly Father as one.

These episodes are my absolute favorite! They're just so wonderful!! Thank you, thank you!!
Pure Fairytale’s

Thanks for your kind words! Meeting people at the sites has been one of the most meaningful parts of making these videos.
why the L D.S. Corp. Church so fascinated with death?
I really enjoy anything Casey is apart of. And when you add Steven Harper to the mix you get a power message.
Wonderful episode - answered all the questions I have had sitting on my shelf. Thank you.
1:51 -- First Recorded Account 1832 Account - "Never published during Joseph Smith's lifetime, and we don't even discover it until the in 1940's...Personal Account including history as a young man, and his personal quest for salvation...Less about finding the right church, and more about finding God."
5:36 -- Second Recorded Account 1835 Account - "Recorded in (his journal) in Joseph's home. Describes several details that weren't in the earlier account."
9:48 -- Third Recorded Account 1838 Account - "This is the cannon account of the First Vision. It's Joseph Smith's official history. Understanding the context of what was going on in Joseph Smith's life helps us understand...emphasized certain things that he didn't in other accounts of the First Vision. Precise dates, exact locations, background context and detail."
11:58 -- Fourth Recorded Account 1842 Account - "This one is popularly known as the Wentworth Letter...We actually don't have the original letter...Part of the letter was cannonized and placed in the Pearl of Great Price, specifically the 13 Articles of Faith."
13:52 -- If you are shaken because there are different accounts of the First Vision, and that they don't always exactly agree their details. "What do you think about the accounts of Jesus's Ministry and Resurrection? We have a variety of accounts and they don't match. John has a completely different view than Matthew, Mark and Luke...Seek knowledge and don't stop at assumptions. Don't assume that what you think you know is knowledge."
16:12 --- "Your present situation shapes the way you remember...I think that the 1832 autobiography we hear wha The Vision was like to Joseph at the time, but the vision comes to mean more over time."
Stephen Prothero -- "...be more skeptical if Joseph produced these carbon copy accounts throughout his life as if he were conspiring than if Joseph produces spontaneous ones."
Honestly, I'm stoked that there are multiple accounts of the first vision because each account adds more details and insights.
Exactly!

Absolutely fantastic… context, time, research…. Well done! 👍

I love the First Vision stories, all of them and am so glad he recorded them! It and the witnesses of the Book of Mormon are why I joined the Church I had been looking for! Thank you for these explanations!
Thank you Casey I know that the story the account is unbelievable but yet I believe it!
If someone does exactly what James chapter 1 verse 5 indicates, then there is a specific promise and God does not break his promises and if there is anyone that had real intent over all these years, it was Brother Joseph; he was absolutely expecting an answer when he went into that Grove, it is a fascinating story!

does the L.D.S. church say "the first vision" was a "vision" or actual reality
Visions are real-
@@kellymcdonald1895 It’s a fairytale , with just a bit of independent study outside of the propaganda you’ll find it’s pure fairytale
In a religious context I've seen and see
The word vision most often refers to a dream or a sort of daydream
Perhaps though that's less important than the fact that most Abraham religions that I've seen
They are death cults
A fake version of god
their "version" of a "GOD" of animal and human sacrifice
As a neurodivergent person I enjoy these video because they are so straight to the point.
If he had 100 accounts you would still vouch for him .
I have noticed that in religion the word vision most often refers to a dream or a sort of daydream
What is the claim being made
Thank you so much!!❤❤
Wonderful insight. I will quibble with Mr Harper at 17:48 description. Joseph did not have a “persecution complex” as the term is frequently used today. He and the saints were simply being persecuted.
What about the danites driving former members out and threatening their lives? What about the attempted assassination of Missouri’s governor?
@@RB376-h7x agreed.
Really well done Casey! This video taught me things i didn’t know. ❤
Sometimes I even mix up or forget things despite having shared it so many times 😂
I don't believe there's anything weird about the accounts at all.
I guess according to you Jesus lied !
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Thanks for sharing your insights and understandings on this. It's awesome to see all the different sites. 😊
As a person grows in years and mentality, they use different phrasing and descriptions in relating memories. If the wording and description never changed it would be scripted. He always testified of the truth.

Excellent explanation. Inspired work. Thanks.
Excellent presentation thank you
Great video!
I've recorded my testimony in my journals from time to time. Are there differences? Yep. So what? I stand by my words.
Another fantastic video! Thank you!
In this indeterminate expression of view there is no assertion of determination -- what do you actually trying to say if anything at all
Well done.

I love the accounts.
So which is the truth story.
Ever notice with religions the word vision tends to most often refer to a dream or a sort of daydream
There's no distinction offered in this video or explanation of the word vision
hmmm 🤔

Very good video. Now it's just needs to be taught in church, or you're not going to help many.
I view the video as a supplement as the church has published and communicated a fair amount about multiple accounts of the First Vision.

Try reading the Book of Mormon and see how much it focuses us on Christ and his gospel
@@scripturecentralofficialIt’s a different Jesus and a different Gospel !
I don't think he was a bad man
I think he strived for truth .
Excellent
So all those accepting this as an explanation of why there are multiple versions told by the same person and why the church historian, a prophet, lied and hid it for decades, ask yourself, would you accept a revisionist history explanation from a different religion similar to this? If this answer, which is NO, then you aren’t looking for truth, you are looking for a way to explain away discrepancies because you want to, not because it actually makes sense.
Which account of the first vision. There are multiple...

It's either true or it's not can't be both true and false only one. Only one way to fine out Pray about it
I find it disappointing how members of the church have to attempt to give episodes like this validity.
