I had a garden and chickens, too. I miss those days!
Great use of the carrots! I will have to try that. Maybe try shredding butter for the biscuits next time. You roll it in the flour then shred. Easy peasy.
Love these simple flavorful meals. xxx
Your recipes seem to be normal, simple, flavorful with no surprises or off putting ingredients just to be different . YUMMY
Thanks! I think simple recipes with fewer, quality ingredients can be the most delicious! I do like to be adventurous from time to time though too ☺️
@@seedandsparrowhomestead 😊mock pine apple how is that made?
We had a lot of home canned veggies and fruit and lots of wild meat. My middle kiddo had a lot of allergies to preservatives. I did natural as much as possible.
I just LOVE the simplicity of your meals; it's just what we all have in our fridges and pantries, no special ingredients other than cooking with love 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you! I think simple meals is where it’s at! Good simple ingredients and quality whole Foods can make the best meals ☺️ I too love when I’m watching a cooking video and realize “hey I have all that stuff here to use!” Thanks for watching 🤍🤍🤍
Love your posts! My kids are grown and gone, but I raised them much this way!
I just love your cozy kitchen. ❤
Thank you ☺️ 🤍🤍🤍
Your eggs look perfect ❤
Thank you for the wonderful video, Kelsey! I really enjoyed watching and will definitely be trying out your recipes this coming week.
Thank you for watching! Enjoy and blessings on your weekend 🤍
Hi Kelsey,
What a delicious week y'all had! 😊 I will be making a couple of your dishes. Thank you for blessing us all once again. Have a blessed weekend! ♥
Hi Vicki! Thank you so much, Blessings friend 🤍
Thank you Kelsey for the inspiration. I so look forward to your videos each week. I have chicken breasts in the fridge an will be trying the sweet and sour chicken and rice recipe this weekend! I also have a large bag of carrots that I planned to prepare for the freezer so the carrot loaf will also be on the menu. Such a peaceful video that encouraged and inspired me. Have a blessed weekend. Thank you.
Thank you so much Cheryl! I’m hope you enjoy everything. Blessings friend 🤍
Love your recipes...Real, whole foods. Thanks for the inspiration😊
Thank you so much! Blessings on your weekend 🤍
I love your recipes! Thank you Val C
Thanks Val! 🤍🤍🤍
Oh yum, everything looked so good. Especially that chicken, 😮. Thanks so much, I love your channel 🇨🇦🌷
Thank you Lyn! Blessings 🤍☺️
I am doing this now as well! Thank you for sharing 🥰
Awesome! Thank you ☺️ 🤍
That dish looks so good. I can see that chicken has kept its crust nicely. 😊
Thank you ☺️🤍
You could always add some oil and vinegar to your jams and jellies and turn them into salad dressing or marinades
I may do that! Thanks ☺️
Such lovely meals! We’re definitely going to make the taco cornbread meal. Thank you for sharing! ❤ xo
Thank you so much! Enjoy 🤍
That first dish looks so interesting. I feel like it’d taste almost like orange chicken just a little more sweet. Can’t stop thinking about orange chicken with pineapple pieces lol.
Just moved out and currently work at Wendy’s. Got an idea to save money and get Wendy’s breaded chicken diced and tossed with maybe their sweet and sour sauce, then get home to put it on rice, this video just gave me a whole new idea though.
To use up canned carrots-Carrot soufflé!!! It’s amazing-my family loves it!
I’m going to need to try that! Thank you ☺️
Loved these recipes. I will be trying several of them. And now I know what to do with my canned carrots none of us like. 😅
Haha! I’ve yet to hear someone say they love canned carrots, I’m going to try a soufflé next! Thanks for watching 🤍
I love Jessica’s channel, I feel like every one of her videos I’m always learning something new. 😊
I definitely learned a lot about myself and my family after the challenge, what foods we eat quickly and others that we forget about. I’m focusing on rotating pantry items sticking the unpopular items in the front and same with cold items.
Same! I love all of her content. Sounds like a great plan!! Have a blessed weekend 🤍
Same to you and your family 😊
Great recipes, Kelsey! I use olive oil in cooking, but have found that my baked goods don't hold up as well when I use it for baking...they fall apart easily. So I use vegetable oil for my baking. You didn't seem to have that problem. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. The carrot loaves/cupcakes looked scrumptious! I love Mexican food so may try your casserole. I make a Taco Pizza that I love with a cornmeal/Bisquick crust and browned hamburger with refried beans and canned chilies for the filling. Of course, cheddar cheese on top. We top it with lettuce, tomatoes, green onions, black olives, sour cream, and salsa. It's so good, warm, and filling. Love all of your content. Have a great weekend!
Thank you Susan! I like using avocado oil for baking! I really haven’t had any issue with things falling apart with that!
That taco pizza sounds delish, I’m going to have to try. Blessings friend 🤍
Great content!! Your amazing 😊
Thank you so much ☺️ Have a lovely day 🤍
My husband's family called it tamale pie. Sometimes it would have black beans or sliced black olives. Always had corn in it and shredded cheese in the cornbread.
Oh nice! Cheese would be yummy in the cornbread!
Great meals!!
Thank you 🤍🤍🤍
We don't love canned carrots either. But we love carrots souffle. With the carrots already cooked , it's quick & easy.
Oh yum! I’ll have to try that, thank you!!! 🤍
Canned carrot cake loaf was intriguing to me. Brilliant. And you now know you won't be canning carrots anymore. Mock pineapple is another thing that interests me. Zucchini no less. Who knew? I love fried potatoes, but seldom make the effort for breakfast. Canned potatoes make perfect sense! Yep, your brilliant.
You are so kind, thank you. Enjoy and have a lovely weekend 🤍
You have to have balance. Nitrates bother me as well but sometimes I have to have pizza or bacon. You can also grate your butter into your flour for biscuits.
Oh yes, sometimes I can’t avoid it and sometimes I really want to eat something 😂 I try to do so in moderation and purchase nitrate free when I can ☺️
Good tip with the butter! Thanks 🤍
They all looked good but i am going to try the taco casserole that looked delish
Thank you! Enjoy ☺️ 🤍
We did the one in January and February, but we have decided to not do this one. We are in grow zone 10b, so I am in the middle of food preservation season. We grow food year round, but in May and June we do a lot of herb preservation, since they will die down once the hot season hits in July.
We did enjoy the one after New Years and are going to do that one again, but right now my focus are just on a lot of other things.
In general we don’t go to the grocery very often. It’s something we only do a couple of times a month, since we always have access to fresh produce and eggs. I do buy bulk goods from Azure every 3 months. It’s also, since we don’t keep dairy in our house do to allergies, and i make our non dairy products myself.
I do love watching you doing it, and love the recipes.
That makes sense! How cool to garden year round and always have things coming in fresh! Thanks so much for watching! 🤍
It is, but also a challenge. I think we eat more seasonally than others, since we eat what’s growing at the time. I do stretch some things like brassicas, which I grow during the winter, and sweet potatoes and carrots, which we grow during the warm season. It’s just a different way of thinking, plus I can get by with a smaller garden than others, do to my eternal growing season. I think the biggest challenge with such a garden, are the logistics of it. I spend a lot of time planning for and planting crops, so I need to keep up on when things will be ready to harvest, so I can plant again.
I also use more compost and compost tea, since my garden beds, don’t get a break.
Mock pineapple - who knew?? I'm going to try making this. I love pineapple on pizza as well as other things! I did find a recipe.
It’s so good and such a great way to use up surplus zucchini!
Looks good. Next time mash the carrots and make a pumpkin bread recipe.
Oh yum! 🤍
Hi Kelsey, what a delicious selection of meals you prepared - great job 👍🏻 I shall definitely be trying the chicken with sweet and sour, thank you for this. In the UK we don't really have canned creamed corn, do you think I could use a can of corn kernels and blitz them in a processor?
Love your content, thank you 🙏
Hello! Thank you so much ☺️ I certainly think you can use whole kernels crushed! Enjoy 🤍
I like to shred my butter, like cheese. It makes cutting it in so much easier!!!
Genius! Thank you ☺️
@Seed and Sparrow Homestead I like to do that for my pie crust, too! It's just so easy! On a side note....I made my first sourdough discard pie crust and it was phenomenal 🙌
The slider's look good, I'm a bit scared of the baking of the mayo but still going to try them. I Might try a pizza cutter to cut them apart because I think my pan is deeper than the one you are using.
Thank you, enjoy! ☺️🤍
Any chance you could share the mock pineapple recipe? Will have a TON of zucchini very soon! Have you ever tried mock peach jam made with zucchini? Delish!
nchfp.uga.edu/how/can_02/zucchini_pineapple.html
There is the link! Sorry I meant to add that to the description. Mock Peach Jam sounds fantastic! Enjoy and thanks for watching! 🤍
Hi! I was wondering if you are going to be making that mock pineapple? Could you do a video or share the recipe? I can’t seem to find it in my preserving books and that sweet and sour chicken looked dope. That ground beef pie situation looked so darn good. I want to do that one too. I think I will put some cheddar cheese between the beef and the corn bread spectacular topping. Have a great weekend 😊
Hi! Yes! I have plans to put out a video on mock pineapple as soon as the zucchini plants start production ☺️ thanks so much and have a blessed weekend 🤍
@@seedandsparrowhomestead ohhh hoooray!!! 🥳🥳🥳
An idea for cutting your sandwiches- maybe a pizza cutter?
Ah yes, that would be a better tool! 😂 Thanks!
I was always taught flour first, egg second and crumbs last if using them. Never done it any other way
Yep it’s a bit backwards but the correct way to achieve the desired results ☺️
Can I move in with you?? I also have canned pantry items from last year to clear off the shelves. These were helpful!
😂 🤍 I’m glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Was that antique yellowware you mixed the batter in? Just a note to be mindful of: Many of these old mixing bowls, such as yellowware, look pretty and farmhouse-ish, but they also often have the glaze worn off in areas and cracks and chips. They made these old pieces with lead and once the glaze has worn off, which most suffer from, this allows the lead to possibly leach into the food. I would not even store food in them leave alone mix a batter. They are nice for decor, though.
It’s actually reproduction! Thank you for the info though ☺️
@@seedandsparrowhomestead Good to know there are reproductions as I love this stuff.
How do you make your pineapple with zucchini sweet bread? Have you already shared this? If so can you help me with the link? Thank you.
Hi! I have not shared yet but plan to when zucchini starts coming in from the garden. In the meantime here is the link to the recipe! nchfp.uga.edu/how/can_02/zucchini_pineapple.html
@seedandsparrowhomestead Thank you so much!! Looks like I need to check my spelling!
I missed it, what is mock pineapple? Thanks anybody?
Check out my new video today! ☺️
Just wondered why use a plastic bag for dusting chicken, when a bowl would do?
Not so messy and gets the job done quicker in my opinion ☺️
