I remember playing the game on my PS2 back then when I was just a kid and immediately getting hooked. I looked up the movie and binge-watched it a couple of times. The Warriors is a masterpiece of cinema and the game will forever remain a classic in my eyes.
I watched this in a packed dayroom in college cropped for television in the 80s, and when it was over we were so pumped. Then someone found out that it was being played (uncut) at the midnight show of the local movie theater that we could all walk to, starting in an hour. One of my most memorable "group events."
Remake or tv series for today ??? This film, hollyweird don't mess with it. LOL. And no remake of Enter the Dragon, which I heard years ago hollyweird wanted to remake this classic film.
Probably the best film I ever recommend to my film buff uncle who showed me so many great films growing up. Couldn’t believe he never saw this one himself
I remember going to see this in London when it opened in the UK and enjoyed it immensely. It became a late night staple at many of the smaller Art House cinemas and also was regularly included in seasons of US films at the National Film Theatre. It was always regarded as having considerable artistic merit along with all the action. Saw it again recently and it has certainly stood the test of time. Roger Hill certainly stepped up in the brief role of Cyrus, this was great acting on his part.
When they said "every cop and bopper in town is looking for us, why do you look so happy" and the dudes like "CAUSE IM HAVIN A GOOD TIME!" Just dug that so much
I prefer the Director's Cut. I quite like the comic book style. I know this is really selfish of me but when Tony Scott killed himself my first thought was 'couldn't you have got your Warriors remake done first!'. Love Tony Scott and his films, RIP. The Warriors is a great film. Survive the night style film. The different gangs are crazy, fun and unique. Watch this and Judgement Night as a double bill and you're laughing
I watched The Warriors in the theater in 1979 on a full screen in 70 mm, in a theater that even back then you'd feel like was going to collapse any minute, but wasn't torn down until 2019 and I was the only person there. I thought it was a good flick, although it hasn't aged well. Plus the movie differs so much from the book.
I watched this movie for the first time in college in 2015. I was hooked into this movie since this very scene. I even played the video game. So good!!
I was 13 and about that life in NYC. This movie was comical to us but a must see instant classic .it was corny to us then but we love it. The guys O hung with were from Coney Island. We saw this on 42nd street Times Square. Where you saw these types of movies. RIP to all the soldiers
The crazy thing about the filming of this movie is all of the Bronx scenes were shot in Brooklyn. I lived in the Bronx when this movie was made, my friends and I couldn't figure out were these places were until my cousin who lived in Brooklyn told me not the Bronx man. LOL

I love that the Alamo Drafthouse does movie parties, because it gave me the opportunity to watch movies on the big screen, that until recently, I only ever saw on TV. Plus, I was finally able to see The Warriors without the comic transitions.
One of the best speeches in movie history. It’s not only iconic for movie fans but also fans of hip hop & electronic music as the speech has been sampled in so many great tracks. Is it sad that I know most of the speech word for word?
I found this movie sometime in the 80s, like on HBO or some kind of cable show I can't remember, and I have loved it ever since. I showed it to my kids when they were teenagers, and they absolutely love it. We need more movies like this nowadays.
David Patrick Kelly rules, Such classic roles from The Warriors to The Crow. He is also great in commando and the obscure tv show Ghost writer(which I loved growing up)
A guy from my neighbor was in this scene.. We were excited.. yet I didn’t notice him until maybe about 20 years down the line after dvd came out and I was able to get a good pause. The guy from my neighborhood was name Lance.. Rest In Peace Lance..
I watched this in 79 in the uk, back then when you went the cinema there was always a film on before the main feature , which in 79 happened to be superman the movie! two great movies that have stood the test of time.
First R rated film my father took me to see and among my Top 3 all-time favorites! Like others with Scarface, I have every home release version (Director's cut is trash). Know every line by heart and they even let me do Cyrus's speech on the cruise ship back in March! The only station that I've ever seen play the boardwalk scene at the beginning outside of the Director's cut was USA. Love this movie!
My late father introduced me to the warrior when It came on TV when I was 10. When I was older the brilliant warriors PS2 game I introduced that to my late father
This movie is on my Mount Rushmore of movies that can never ever be remade, physically impossible to make it any better than this. You could remake Gone With the Wind easier than The Warriors
So weird David Patrick Kelly was so memorable & the only other things I know him from were 48hrs., Remar too, & Twin Peaks. Then he showed up as Louie’s therapist! 😂
NYC is my hometown. I wish I would have been alive then to see this made. Amazing movie. I also grew up going to Coney Island so this movie is close to my heart❤
Cyrus was leader of a black gang so he spoke with that black preacher style that black people respond to. Also of the movie company put out an audio book read by Cyrus it would have been awesome, can you dig it
John Wick 4 heavily took from this film in the scene where the radio dj is calling everyone to action. Even so far as calling them boppers, just like in The Warriors.
If you haven’t, I suggest you play the game made by Rockstar (same people who make/ made Grand Theft Auto). What a phenomenal game. Specially since it starts 3 (?) months before the meeting. The controls are a little wonky, but once you get the hang of it, you’re all set. Fun fact about the movie though. The studio was clashing with the production team over why it’s taking so long. So, they sent over a representative to oversee the production & report back to them. First night in NYC he was pissed on & left. The studio never interfered again lmao
I shit you not!!!!! My main text tone is “can you dig it” and for my daughter is the bottles clinking and come out to play!!!! I made these tones a long time ago. I freaking love this movie!!!!! Andy daughter got me Luther and Swan pops too.
So in the last scene, when they're on the beach in coney island and swan and luther face off and luther pulls out the gun and fires the gun and mercy screams, what happens to the bullet??? Rembrandt or cochise was behind swan, when swan jumps out the way, wouldn't the bullet hit one of the warriors??? Movie magic. Jfk magic bullet. Holly-woood
I know I have the special edition on DVD. I may have the original theatrical cut as well. I think one of them is autographed by Deborah Van Valkenburg. I met her at a San Diego Comic-con... I talked to her... I can't remember if I had my copy with me for her to autograph. I can't even locate it from my chair. Everythings been out of order for years. I really need to organize. I can't find 4 4K's I bought within the last 6 months. Great vid.
About Samuel L Jackson. I was Playing the psp game the other night for the first time without having watched the movie, i assumed he was the one who played Cleon. I mean the face and voice of the in game Cleon totaly matched LOL. I watched the movie last night for the first time ever and boy i was so wrong. I enjoyed the movie so much. Its so good. I just wished we could see more of Cleon though.
The Warriors was my dad's favorite movie of all time. One of them, anyway. He saw it as a midnight show (alongside Dawn Of The Dead) dozens of times; I think he stopped counting at 27 or 28. So for me, it's more than just a film. It's a way to reconnect with him. Especially poignant nowadays since he's been gone over 5 years now. Oh, and get that director's cut with the comic book panels away from me. That abomination is an eyesore. My dad and I felt the same way about that crap.
Thanks for discussing! An entertaining film. I'd like to see you break down one two other scenes from this: 1) the fight with the Baseball Furies; 2) the "Warriors, come out to play-i-yay!" scene. Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music/Sacred & Secular (and movie buff)
Ok mate i`d like you to break down my favourite scene from my favourite movie of my long life. The 5 min scene between Charlie Burns and Jellon Lamb from The Proposition (2005). Cheers
"Can you dig it" and "Warrior's come out to play" are two of the most memorable lines to come out of this movie.
These are two of the most memorable line to come out of cult cinema.
I especially love "Warriors! Come out to play-i-yay!" Shawn R., Mo-Mutt Music/Sacred & Secular (and movie buff)
Still come out with those lines myself in the right situation 😄 😆

Went to New York on the subway and kept quoting the warriors to my wife
...she had no idea what I was talking about lol
When I went to NY a few years back we inadvertently stopped at some of the subway stations in the movie while we were traveling.
I feel that Lawrence Fishburn channeled that this movie for his cave speech in Matrix
