I was so caught up looking up the "R. Mutt 1917" on Macaulay's shirt (reference to Duchamp's "Fountain", so literally calling himself a urinal) that I totally missed this. Thank you.
A little "Warriors" trivia... Filming was primarily at night in the streets of NY which meant REAL gang members were constantly around production and they weren't too happy about the movie being made. They threw bricks, stole movie equipment, vandalized production vehicles, and even threatened actors. Finally, in an attempt to quell the situation, the studio started hiring those gang members as security to "protect" the equipment and vehicles. Many of those "extras" in the park at the concave were actual NY gang members. Roger Hill (Cyrus) was a last minute replacement. The guy who was originally hired to play Cyrus was an actual gang member and the night before filming the "Can you dig it" scene he "mysteriously disappeared" and was never seen again. Jery Hewitt (Baseball Fury leader) had 3-ribs broken accidentally while filming that fight scene with the Warriors in the park.

Hey. I went to your channel and had a look. Some aspects are impressive but there are a few issues that could be improved upon, the most glaring one being the editing. I'd love to see the Safdie Brothers (Good Time, Uncut Gems) direct a remake. They understand New York, gritty filmmaking, tense races against time, chase scenes, colorful characters, and would likely put a terrifying spin on the gangs, grounding them in a bit more believable circumstance.
They shot the Turnbull AC's school bus scene in my neighborhood, East New York, Brooklyn. I was around 7 or 8yrs old. And every gang at the time would head over to the set to try to get in that scene. It was crazy.
They understated just how lore building the game was. The movie part of the game is short compared to the rest of the game which is all about events prior to the movie. They even had 5 flashback missions to show how each member joined
Very cool and fun video fellas. On the subject of the Baseball Furies: in Greek literature the Erinyes (also known as the Furies) were underworld deities who would take vengeance on those who had sworn a false oath. Seems fitting as in their understanding of the situation the Warriors came in under a banner of truce and foreswore their oath by killing Cyrus. That the Furies were unable to take down the Warriors is a sign of their innocence.
I believe the furies would take vengeance on those who committed a blood crime, as in killing a family member. Which was basically the worst crime you could commit in the Greek world.

That would be absolutely fire 🔥🔥
Yeah they could also made it more accurate to the books
I watched The Warriors on Netflix recently and it was the original theatrical version.
Same, in Australia.
Same on Amazon :)
The PlayStation game of this was pretty great too. Dynamite soundtrack, really captured the vibe of the movie.
The Game was gr8
Still play it at least once a year such a great game!
Made by Rockstar, creators of GTA
Im only in my early 20's but my mates and i loved this movie after playing the ps2 and xbox games. The warriors game was also awesome.
For sure that game actually captured the feel of the movie. Alright alright alright
They shot the Turnbull AC's school bus scene in my neighborhood, East New York, Brooklyn. I was around 7 or 8yrs old. And every gang at the time would head over to the set to try to get in that scene. It was crazy.
You two millenial pieces of shit need to crawl back in your parents basement.
They understated just how lore building the game was. The movie part of the game is short compared to the rest of the game which is all about events prior to the movie. They even had 5 flashback missions to show how each member joined
Mack is honestly one of my favorite people on RLM, wish he was a regular!
They need to do a whole episode on Streets of Fire. It's absolutely wild.
With Mac after he's done watching it of course
Definitely sucks that in the age of formulaic big budget movies no one makes weird, off the wall shit for wide release anymore
A theatre near where I live has a cult movie night program and I got to see it last Friday. I loved it!
@@joesomenumbers It's a golden age for television.
@@joesomenumbers Mandy and Sorry to Bother You.
It puts a smile on my face to see culkin find happiness and is healthy again.
It's a shame we don't have PreRec anymore because I'd have loved to Jack & Rich play The Warriors on PS2
I'm jonesing to play that again now
God I love that game. It’s probably one of the best video game adaptations of a movie out there.
@@CatOperated It makes the movie more interesting after you play it to I feel like
Great game. Played it with my roommate. It was how I discovered the movie.
Recently downloaded it from the PSN store, I think I was about 14 when it came out, bloody amazing game. I remember my Da had the movie on VHS when I was wee, was amazed by the artwork on the cover. One of my favourite movies definitely, I hate what Walter Hill did with the directors cut. Why Walter? Why?
By the way, another great movie of his, The Long Riders.
WE LOVE MAC!!! Keep inviting him, you guys! He's awesome
David patrick kelly is one of my favorite character actors he is great in dreamscape and the crow dudes a legend.
Rockstar made an AWESOME beat'em-up videogame of this movie for PS2.
Brain Pains the good old days
They talk about it
Remember the warriors game and then bully rockstar was awesome
oh really? They should have mentioned it in the episode....
@@thefearhawk8805 I fucking made the comment before I had watched the whole episode OK?!?
How do we end this episode? Freeze frame??? Perfect.
Mac's understanding of cinema and movie culture is pretty deep. I could hang out with this guy. Not because he's famous but because we could talk for days.
I'm glad he's turned his life around. He's everywhere now. Kudos to him.
A reference to the video game Ripper?
How deep will my love go for RLM?
Ripper was probably the last thing I'd expect Mack to reference. This guy is un-fucking-believable!
@@peterbeck88 That stunned the hell out of me too. Damn shame Spoony went batshit, I'm sure he'd have loved hearing that.
My dad always has had the biggest hard on for this film as far back as I remember. He saw it in theaters when it first came out. And honestly, I've always respected him for that. This movie is fucking great.
I can't be the only one who's relived and ecstatic to see Macaulay Culkin finding his second wind!
I think The Warriors was the best/most unnecessary video game based on a movie
maybe. But i love that game.
I played that game into the ground . I would love a remastering with online co op
At first i didnt like the game, but when you discover that the movie is the Climatic finale of the game, it rocks.
Beat it all in one Blockbuster weekend rental
Oh look, another far right trumptard with nothing else better to do with his life. Go f yourself troll
Played that game so much with my brothers many years ago.
Such a fun game.
the last time i saw mcaulay culkin was back in the 90s, then saw a few pictures of him and thought we lost him, but hell, he's cooler than ever. great chemistry guys, hey Mac! Nice to see you so chill and happy! Big hugs man!
im 22 so a 00s kid but grew up with the older times so i watched this movie for the first time when i was just a kid on my grandparents VHS copy of the film, loved it ever since
Matrix: Hey Sully, remember when I told you I'd kill you last?
Sully: That's right Matrix! you did!
Matrix: I lied.
Sully: Ooh LaLaaaaaaaaaah!
Cindy: What happened to Sully?
Matrix: I had to let him go.
The scream Sully does when he falls is one of the most unintentionally funny moments in cinematic history.
Started playing with bottles on the mean streets of Coney Island, had a couple of brief conversations with Schwarzenegger, helped run a brothel in the Pacific Northwest... now he's a cleaner for John Wick. I'd say that was a pretty full life, and a damn fine cup of coffee.
I was given The Warriors on VHS by a nextdoor neighbor back when I was a kid in the 90s but I didn't watch it fully through till I was 11 and I was obsessed with it, I even got the PS2 game back in 05 and even got the soundtrack, it's a classic man.
The gang with the Culk doing a review on one of my favorite movies?
Great day already
This was a BOSS review! Culkin is making amazing reviews/cameos in AGVN and RLM like a CHAMP. I love these!
The game is easily the best movie game ever made and I love how they added a bunch of back stories you could choose to explore
20:05 "Warrior's come out to play" was actually something that actor's neighbor used to do in his old apartment building back in those days. He said as much in an interview.
Jay once said he learned some of the basics of editing from watching Home Alone. Now he is in a video(which he probably edited) reviewing a movie with the guy who starred in Home Alone. he has come full circle.
More fulfilling character arc than Jamie Lannister.
It took me for it to click that this was Culkin, he's just so chill and happy that he get's to talk about movies. You sometimes forget actors are real people to.
Really enjoyed this one. Mack and Jay had fun chemistry throughout.
Jay AGAIN teasing Twin Peaks, give us a re:View episode god damn it!
They did one for Fire Walk With Me where they basically talk about the whole show
Colin Lamppost I think they mean season 3. The re:View episode was before it was released.
Yes!!! We need a re:View for The Return!! I do wonder if Jay is avoiding it because he isn’t quite sure what to make of season 3. You could probably spend 4 hours just talking about theories for it
Somehow I completely forgot about season 3 lol
Mac seems like a dude who is both smart and chill at the same time. If I ever run into him when he’s out somewhere, I hope he’d let me buy him a beer and chat for 10 mins.
the guys and Culk have great chemistry together, keep it up!
I'm impressed by Mac's knowledge of late 90s FMV games
Warriors was fun, but I was thrilled to see 'STREETS OF FIRE' get mentioned. Definitely in my top ten movies.
all your series are great, but i think re:View is my favorite
Funny how filmmakers in the 70's used New York the same way they use Detroit today.
Coming Soon - The Disneyfication of Detroit
They film movies in new york?
You mean Delta City.
The film was based on a novel written by author Sol Yurick, which in turn was an adaptation from the Ancient Greek text Anabasis by Xenophon. The text told of Greek mercenaries stranded 1,000 miles behind Persian lines trying to fight their way back home
If Marvel ever decided to use Arcade(couldn't tell you why they would) I would love to see Mac as Arcade.
A master of traps and games with a sick sense of humor....
Sign me up, a murder world one shot would be KILLER!
Ralph Bakshi movies contain some good elements of guerrilla filmmaking. Some of the dialogue in Fritz the Cat was recorded from bars and street corners in the Bronx.
He's a great addition to the team. I was sceptical, but his passion, warmth and knowledge won me over!
I love the episodes that Mac is in. He offers such good insights and He is so funny. I wish he was in more episodes. He has a good chemistry with Jay
Good to see Mac back and in good shape.
I love seeing a happy, healthy Mac. Good for him 👍
You failed to mention the name of "the love interest", Mercy played by Deborah Van Valkenburg. She was also in Streets of Fire.
Holy shit, how did I not notice that?!
My dad gave me three VHS tapes when I was around 8. The Warriors, Starship Troopers, and Heavy Metal. Fun times!
Your father was either a horrible man, or was raising an inspired artist
Also, 4 of those actors would reappear in 48 HRS in 1982. James Remar, David Patrick Kelly, and the late Sonny Landham and Marcelino Lopez.
David Patrick Kelly was great in Dreamscape if anyone remembers that one. I thought for sure you guys would reference it.
I was thinking the same thing. Dreamscape is so good.
