It was mentioned before but the elemental trails are not real and are just aesthetic for the audience. The sound Tanjiro hears was the sonic boom caused by Zenitsu moving so fast.
@@addollz6192 There are so many anime (and western comics) where characters are attributed as human yet are capable of unnatural feats of physical power. Why is this surprising?
My favourite reaction of you guys so far, since i was extremely scared of how you would react at zenitsu's scene but I'm glad most of you seemed to really like that moment :)
All of the breathing techniques are metaphoric and the "element" represented is adjusted to the properties of that swordmanship in cuestion. For example thunder breathing is incredibly fast and clean, water breathing is smooth and fluent and animal breathing is wild and instictual. And by the way the "thunder" is not a direct effect of the thunder breathing but a consecuence of the speed that Zenitsu reaches when he fights which is different.
So the Demon slayers in the show use Breathing sword art eg:Water,Lightning,Beast). These are all regular sword techniques but they are similar to the movement or effects of other things. Eg. Tanjiro and Gyu’s blade movement if smooth like water. Zenitsu’s movement is fast and powerful so it’s similar to lightning and thunder. The effects are there just to look cool. Ps. zen getting struck by lightning is mire to explain his hair color and his resistance for the future...
Sanic Boi the word “Art” and “Style” are interchangeable in this case. Since art is something created and inosuke made that technique. Also it has named forms so it isn’t random. So it can be taught like any other style/Art
Knew you guys would come to like God mode Zenitsu ⚡ Even if you can't learn six, hone your ability so that it equivalent six fold. This anime does an amazing job at giving backstories to all of its cast, and man I love Zenitsu's theme so much. Also, glad you guys are watching three episodes in a row, definitely worth it 😉 Also I find comparing Demon Slayer at this moment in time a bit weird. I feel as though some people try to claim that it's riding off the good animation but I think that argument undervalues how good the story is put together and contextualised. Giving it a fair chance over more seasons, even the next few episodes, will show how motivations and goals become much clearer. 😁
As soon as it exploded into massive popularity a pointless counter culture against the series was formed once again on the internet...gotta love how predictable that is. Life is a lot more fun for me at least looking at the positive and great aspects in things...
I think demon slayer has it's strong points, and I am a manga reader. But demon slayer is not perfect, and story starts wobbling soon after picking up. Moments like Akasa, Kokushibou's past are really well done, and no current shonen can compare to it, but that's it. It is true that the MVP of demon slayer is animation. There is a reason why series was not as popular before ep19.
Knowing 15 moves bad or one to perfection and improve upon it ! The great dilemma. More is not always better. Also god damn that slash was impressive !
I like to choose half ass more moves. Instead of just perfecting one, or trying to learn all of hte moves. Just learn some of the moves. A jake of all trades is a master of none but often better than a master of one.
@@wisewillowgames Well, I'm pretty sure that Zenitsu is one of if not the best thunder breathing practitioner, with him possibly being beat by his fellow student who learned all but the first form, not counting his teacher of course. So I think he'd still have you beat with just the one.

"We'll go on record and say we like MHA more" Yeah, you'll say that for two more weeks then change your mind... Then three weeks after that you'll change your mind again and go back to MHA being your favorite.
Right now My Hero's anime story is more fetched out so it's only natural, honestly tho both these animes are phenomenal and I wouldn't want to choose between them at all, I love em both.
Sir Gawain I mean if we’re judging on first seasons only I‘d agree with you, since imo both ds and mha have a bit of a meh start and pick up only after some time; also DS has more episodes in the first season so maybe that’s unfair too, my complete take: Judging first seasons only DS > MHA Judging 13 episodes only (since Mha S1 is only 13 eps) MHA = DS Judging 26 episodes (you get the gist of it) MHA > DS Judging the complete story (including both manga(yes I’m caught up in both) MHA > DS Just my personal opinion and I understand if someone doesn’t agree
MHA has grown on me a lot. At first I disliked it as a Naruto knock-off, but now that I'm watching both as reactions on this channel, I realize that it's really an improvement in most ways. The only thing I'm not so sure about with it is I don't see much in the way of goals to drive the narrative. With Naruto, Sasuke needed to get revenge, Naruto needed to save Sasuke, Sakura needed to get useful. In Demon Slayer Tanjiro needs to revert Nezuko and get revenge against Muzan. There were things that were well established goals. I don't really feel that with MHA. I mean I know Midoria is supposed to become the greatest hero, but that's about the most generic shonen goal you could ever expect. I'm sure it will flush out some more stuff with character origins and things its hinted at, and probably gotten to to some extent in the manga, but right now if feels like a bunch of loosely connected arcs that could be shuffled around without much tweaking and you'd never know. Some of those arcs are great though!

SPOILERS *FOR CAUGHT UP MANGA READERS* Imo, I think the elements are real. Tanjiro used breath of the sun on muzan and it actually burnt him. They can even make the blades red...Even kanroji can extend her blade, and the wind pillar can make mist blasts.
Well, it’s kind of a continuity error because the author has stated that it’s just visual but it’s seen multiple times affecting the environment, just like with the arrow demon so it’s 50/50 it doesn’t really matter
For clarification the elements shown in the anime are just visuals, but the breathing style are inspired by those elements like Tanjiro breathing style is based on water because of its fluid like form and the movement of each form. And yes it doesn't produced water out of thin air.
I remember the quotes of Bruce Lee, He had some point. But, imagine that 10,000 moves combine practice 10,000 not at once. That will be the ultimate nightmare of Bruce lee.
Just to clear things up: The Breaths are mostly metaphorical, but they're not as simple as that. The Forms of each Breath are specific attack movements that due to the Demon Slayers' special Total Concentration Breathing, acquire fitting special attributes such as water and thunder. The thunder which hit Zenitsu was definitely not "summoned" by Zenitsu. Breaths do not affect the weather.
It makes no sense for it to be real. There are several hints like demons commenting on nature of fighting style, no actual definition of magic. People just want it to be real, or just argue for sake of it.
In the last scene (with the highschool version of the characters) the reason why Tomioka told Zenitsu to dye his hair is because having blonde hair in japan (and basically any other hair color that isn´t black and that stands out) is considered a form of rebellion, the sign of someone who has problematic behavior and is seen as kinda disrespectful toward authority figures (like teachers) and also towards people older than you. Basically they don´t like anything that shows that kind of individualism and identity because the people in japan seems to be very strict with rules and things like that so they prefer a most standard look for every student to promote order. This is slowly changing though and as far I heard there have been petitions to change this rule in schools after a girl was told to dye his natural hair color (that was kinda brown) to black and got some hair issues after she did it.
if you ever react to one piece please watch the 'one pace' version that edits down all the stretched bits that Toei animation puts in to stay behind the manga. Not sure of the exact episode count but I think it's around 400 episodes essentially cutting down 500 eps worth of stretched material. Even if a handful of people see this comment and check it out I'd be happy as its literally one piece in its best form, truest adaptation of the manga with great pacing and all the benefits that come as an anime.
@@ofimportance5458 the anime would be great if it was paced well which is what one pace fixes. Though the pacing issue is only really apparent post time skip.
The sound of thunder is made from air splitting and colliding back to each other. So Tanjiro hearing thunder means Zenitsu was moving so fast that it made a thunder sound. So yes the Lightning in his attacks are metaphorical just like the water in Tanjiros attacks
Breaking a sound barrier as a human being is even more surreal than magic water effects, in a few episodes it becomes crystal clear that the magic water is actually not just visuals since it cuts without the sword touching anything.
@@UnknownPictures In the episode they watched in this vid, there is already proof that the lightnings and water are just metaphors to their swordstyle. The fact that the spider dude says "whats this? The air is vibrating" even tho the animation shows him with lightning. Also saying a human being breaking a sound bearer is impossible? Dude incase youre forgetting, this is anime lmao
@@Spaghetty Played FF7 Remake? The ghosts in the game are real but not seen by every character in the game. Just because characters can't see them and the audience can, doesn't mean it's not real in that fictional world. Yes it's an anime, and that is also why I'm pointing out that it is contradicting of how people have a hard time accepting that the magic water is real in the KnY's world because it clearly influences its environments as I've explained and at the same time the same people have no issue with accepting humans in the same show breaking sound barriers. The magic water is real, it is invisible to the characters in the show but visible to the audience, these effects are real in KnY's world because they influence its environments.
@@UnknownPictures ayo, believe in what you want to believe then. Its clearly metaphor but okay, if you say so lmao. Its not really contradicting the belief that zenitsu can move that fast when the visual representation of the swordmanship are clearly different aspects. You do you my dude.
@@Spaghetty A metaphor wouldn't be able to slice strings without a blade touching anything. Believe in what you want but you can't make your own physics rules when that anime world doesn't intentionally introduce surreal physics.
If that's true then it's inconsistent isn't it? Even in this episode with tanjiro hearing the thunder and the lightning knocking off the little spiders SPOILER FOR NEXT EPISODE (i think) Doesn't Tanjiro cut a big ass tree down by shooting out a water slice attack too?
@@Carnege50 honestly, always thought the "thunder" Tanjiro hears was the quick strike from Zenitsu to the spider. Kinda like when ***spoilers of future eps below*** Tanjiro hits Rui when hes about to cut off his head and the sound is almost metalic sounding. Regarding the other moments you mention though, if youre imaginative enough you could justify all of them lol.
@@Carnege50 It is consistent. What the characters are reacting to are the effects of the techniques they use. The lightning you can't see, but the force exerted by the slash sounded like thunder. Probably sonic boom.
Normally, the first form: Thunderclap and flash allows the user to take one step in one direction at blindingly fast speed. The weakness of that form is that once you choose a direction you cannot deviate from it. What's amazing with Zenitsu, he's able to do multiple thunderclaps and flash in succession allowing him to change direction at will and take multiple steps. Which makes this technique for him one of the most powerful techniques of the show.
Exactly! Cuz inorder to slay demon u really need to be fast af fast! Tanjiro wad monologing, thinking talking all that crap, he was slow in his Last attempt that brought rui enough time to detached his head
What tanjiro heard was a sonic boom, he even points out that he did smell the usual residue of a lighting strike which was an indication that there was no actual lightning.
@@troyii435 There is one technique that does but it's one of a kind and no one can use it but that one character because they are "different" but I'm not gonna spoil that for anyone
I love how last episode Tanjiro descended from the heavens like an angel with the moon in the background. Just to free/merc kill the mom. Whilst Zenitsu rises from the earth like a demon/devil to punish the son and ends up with the moon behind him like Tanjiro
If it came first and the creators have high probability of watching them back then I think it is called a reference (some sort of inspiration, copy). Example: Tobi's ability - Lemilion, Adult Sasuke - Shimazaki (Mob Psycho), Goku - 4 Tailed Beast (Naruto)
the gramps is not his blood-related grandfather, he is his sensei. and the other boy is not his brother, both of them is the gramp's students. it is important for hashira to have student to inherit the legacy or breathing techniques

What ever happened to that saying when it comes to engaging and creative stories in Media now in days.?
They can still judge based on what they've seen so far. If demon slayer gets better in the future then it gets better, but people can still have opinions on it. Obviously the fact that mha has been going on longer is a factor in this, but it doesn't change anything. Chill out, because some people might think that you're butthurt or something.
Jason Welsch as someone reading the manga, kny is just okay when you compare to other shounen. The anime just got the great animation going for them. It’s extremely aesthetically pleasing. But the story is quite typical and predictable for me. In my humble opinion, Gotouge-san needs more experience in fleshing out characters and storylines.
I must be a freak of nature because I am certainly capable of loving different series at the same time for entirely different reasons...if the internet is to be believed that is a rare ability ;)
Esa Välilä that’s exactly how things are supposed to be enjoyed :). The internet is just obsessed with the “popular”, “bandwagon” or “trending”, and couldn’t have a healthy intellectual discussion. It isn’t a bad manga, just needs a lot of improvement. I hope Gotouge-san’s next work will be better if they decide to stick to shounen. :)
Fun fact: thunder is the sound proceeding lightning. What we see with Zenitsu, the lightning, is artistic flourish. The thunder heard is the sound of Zenitsu moving so fast he breaks the sound barrier, a crash like thunder noise is then created

The elemental effects of the blade styles is all in their heads. It is confirmed by the author. It’s just for pizazz. The water, and all. Notice how inosuke has no effects to his blade forms it’s because he developed them himself and does not corralate them with any element.
svgftw how the fuck aren’t they gonna remember him? He literally showed up for like a minute of screen time...... Spoiler. ....And he will only be relevant again in like 4 or 5 years.

I love how you guys are just thinking about if the breathing stuff is real Meanwhile I’m thinking that it doesn’t matter if they are because they could do the same stuff they do anyways with or without it
It’s not real, the effects they show is only there to visualize the different forms of the technique. The thunder was probably just an after-effect of Thunderclap and Flash. The spider demon didn’t see lightning but he felt the air vibrating.

22:27 El abuelo de Zenitsu no solo era un Pilar (Hashira), si no que recibió un titulo especial al ser el mas fuerte de su generación.
"I can't wait until tanjiro sees that"
Me:"I can't wait until they see ep 19"
Well he saw hw the f zenistu threw daki up in roof
So the Demon slayers in the show use Breathing sword art eg:Water,Lightning,Beast). These are all regular sword techniques but they are similar to the movement or effects of other things. Eg. Tanjiro and Gyu’s blade movement if smooth like water. Zenitsu’s movement is fast and powerful so it’s similar to lightning and thunder. The effects are there just to look cool. Ps. zen getting struck by lightning is mire to explain his hair color and his resistance for the future...
Also beast is a fighting style not art
Sanic Boi the word “Art” and “Style” are interchangeable in this case. Since art is something created and inosuke made that technique. Also it has named forms so it isn’t random. So it can be taught like any other style/Art

Knew you guys would come to like God mode Zenitsu ⚡ Even if you can't learn six, hone your ability so that it equivalent six fold. This anime does an amazing job at giving backstories to all of its cast, and man I love Zenitsu's theme so much. Also, glad you guys are watching three episodes in a row, definitely worth it 😉
Also I find comparing Demon Slayer at this moment in time a bit weird.

Yh I loved the anime so I went and read the entire manga, amazing story
I think demon slayer has it's strong points, and I am a manga reader. But demon slayer is not perfect, and story starts wobbling soon after picking up. Moments like Akasa, Kokushibou's past are really well done, and no current shonen can compare to it, but that's it. It is true that the MVP of demon slayer is animation. There is a reason why series was not as popular before ep19.

"We'll go on record and say we like MHA more"
Yeah, you'll say that for two more weeks then change your mind...
Then three weeks after that you'll change your mind again and go back to MHA being your favorite.
Right now My Hero's anime story is more fetched out so it's only natural, honestly tho both these animes are phenomenal and I wouldn't want to choose between them at all, I love em both.
IMO demon slayers’s season 1 beats out MHA’s easily. But MHA has much more right now obviously.
Sir Gawain I mean if we’re judging on first seasons only I‘d agree with you, since imo both ds and mha have a bit of a meh start and pick up only after some time; also DS has more episodes in the first season so maybe that’s unfair too, my complete take:
Judging first seasons only DS > MHA
Judging 13 episodes only (since Mha S1 is only 13 eps) MHA = DS
Judging 26 episodes (you get the gist of it)
MHA > DS
Judging the complete story (including both manga(yes I’m caught up in both)
MHA > DS
Just my personal opinion and I understand if someone doesn’t agree
@@Hat-Trick I mean season 1 of DS isn't incredible I love it but man that's nothing compared to what's coming after ( with the demon train arc ect.. ) the movie > every seasons of mha

Tanjiro didn‘t hear a lighting. That sound was Zenitsu breaking the sound barrier.
2:20 string fighters are a trope way older than naruto or hunterxhunter...
omg "the water is real" is the flat earth of Demon Slayer
Well, it’s kind of a continuity error because the author has stated that it’s just visual but it’s seen multiple times affecting the environment, just like with the arrow demon so it’s 50/50 it doesn’t really matter
I love Zenitsu sooooo much, I wanna get a tattoo symbolizing (without getting something too weeb-ish) like maybe his sword surrounded by sunflowers 💕

Just to clear things up:
The Breaths are mostly metaphorical, but they're not as simple as that.
The Forms of each Breath are specific attack movements that due to the Demon Slayers' special Total Concentration Breathing, acquire fitting special attributes such as water and thunder.
The thunder which hit Zenitsu was definitely not "summoned" by Zenitsu. Breaths do not affect the weather.
they still dont understand that is just a metaphor xDD
sooo cute
It's understandable considering the entire fandom is split on it
not their fault if it is inconsistent as fuck
what are you guys talking about? WHAT IS A METAPHOR?
Jacob B I still don’t get how the fandom is split on it when the author has already come out and explicitly stated its a metaphor
Even if a handful of people see this comment and check it out I'd be happy as its literally one piece in its best form, truest adaptation of the manga with great pacing and all the benefits that come as an anime.
didnt know this was a thing
One Piece as an anime isn't that good but the manga is amazing.

So when Inosuke uses the Beast Breath he turns into an actual beast huh 🤔
Normally, the first form: Thunderclap and flash allows the user to take one step in one direction at blindingly fast speed. The weakness of that form is that once you choose a direction you cannot deviate from it.
What's amazing with Zenitsu, he's able to do multiple thunderclaps and flash in succession allowing him to change direction at will and take multiple steps. Which makes this technique for him one of the most powerful techniques of the show.
Just think if zenitsu was there instead of tanjiro against rui, the moment he saw nezuko hurt he would slaughter rui in rage mode

But would rather shame others who doesn’t agree with their “taste”.
Well, having grown up reading and watching a ton of manga and anime, respectively, that’s just my critical opinion on kny. It isn’t a bad manga, just needs a lot of improvement. I hope Gotouge-san’s next work will be better if they decide to stick to shounen. :)
I don’t get it lol, My Hero is the definition of mediocrity even if it has its good moments
Fun fact: thunder is the sound proceeding lightning. What we see with Zenitsu, the lightning, is artistic flourish. The thunder heard is the sound of Zenitsu moving so fast he breaks the sound barrier, a crash like thunder noise is then created
