Scientists have found out that watching this video will increase your appreciation of Conan by 99%
Science is accurate in my case. I love how Conan handles interviewing Bill Burr.
Oh shit
100000000000000000%
This guy doesn't get Bill, f*ck him
Colbert is a smartass buzz kill.
You belong with Conan Bill
I love Stephen, but he definitely doesn't always have that twinge of *fuck-it* attitude that Conan has. You have to let it ALL go Stephen including the religion which is keeping you from seeing 100 percent through the bullshit. Unfortunately that's a part of who he is. Bill truly is able to see the bullshit with literally ANYONE out there which is what makes him one of the greatest stand up comedians of all time.
Couldn't have said it better myself. I loved Colbert as his character on his old show, but as himself on an actual talk show he is not a good interviewer. At least Fallon and Kimmel can laugh through it and give Burr room to do his rant style comedy, but Colbert just plods through this interview so passive aggressively it makes it really obvious that he didn't want to give Bill the time of day in the first place and the network probably forced him to do it because of his shows success and the fact that his easily in the top 3 funniest and currently successful touring comedians right now.
Stephen comes off as sort of elitist in his way of trying way too hard with this show to be Letterman's successor (who also came off like an asshole when he sometimes interviewed people, but only did it when they deserved it and were making fools of themselves) + hes trying to be ahead of the pack on supporting the liberal SJW agenda that if he doesn't act this way towards a savage like Burr, who obviously has conflicting politics, then he'd get heat behind the scenes from his liberal bosses. He's stuck up is the bottom line.
Big Head I was thinking the same thing the whole time!
Yea Colbert sucks
Colbert the George Soros puppet hates Bill since he actually speaks against globalist bankers and not so much supports but doesn't completely hate Trump. That's the fucking truth.
It's so ironic how Bill literally says the crowds are so bad cause he has to walk them through the joke, and then he has to literally walk Stephen and the crowd through the joke..
Or is he just prophetic?!
Colbert is such a terrible host and he lacks comedic timing and feel when he has to work with someone. His show is so far left too. Colbert has made it that way. Burr was a hit over and over on Letterman's show.
Stephen has had hundreds of people do almost his whole job for him. Obviously over time he will become a moron.
This show is funny? Since when?
Or we could just burn the whole world up and start over
*This is my first time seeing a conversation between Bill Burr and a brick wall. What a time to be alive!*
Hold onto your papers!
Awkward & weird show. Brick walls have more personality than this host. 😬
It seemed awkward and forced but I love them both. I think they needed more time. You just can't have Bill Burr on for a few minutes and yell "Be Funny!". Bill no
Bill tried but it didn't click. With foresight you should have known that asking for two quick bits and showing a clip is not the way to go. Colbert and Burr are both geniuses but there wasn't enough te to be funny.
Colbert was terrible here.
Bill keeps tossing the ball to Colbert, and he just stands there.
IonaJonas I've noticed that with Colbert. I like his monologues, but for some reason he doesn't conduct the best interviews. People like Conan and Kimmel, however, really bring out the best in guests because of their brilliant interactional style.
Mohammed Nasseif in character back on comedy he was the shit though. interviews were his most solid, maybe cause he was in character
IonaJonas ..Colbert is as charismatic as a wet mop
I've noticed that too. At first I was gonna say it has something to do with CBS and corporate policies but then I remembered that Letterman was a great interviewer who often didn't try to stay on "safe" topics.
That depends a bit though. Letterman interviews were often really boring, with him beeing almost absent. Not saying Colbert is better, but... the format is quite... limited
That crowd and Colbert were the perfect example of what he was talking about.
TheVodic EXACTLY
so true
My wife and I love Colbert but wonder WTH happened here? The crowd and Colbert seemed real uppity in this interview. Bill Burr was fantastic in this segment, so why did Colbert treat him like a f---g interloper? Vodic, you were dead on with your assessment.
Crowd is full of indoctrinated lefties. Can't take good jokes before it passes 10 barriers of political correctness checks.
I think Colbert was just playing the straight for Bill but the crowd was so stiff it magnified the effect.
I prefer Fallon's ridiculous laugh over Colbert's stupid blank stare.
Bill actually subtly mentioned this interview on his Monday morning podcast. He pointed out that Colbert was a bad host who's overly sensitive and gave Bill no support during the interview without actually saying Colbert's name, but it was obvious who he was talking about.
Yet Colbert is funnier without trying than Burr is with great effort
@@mja91352 Colbert is funny? To who? Woke crowds?
@@mja91352 lmao saying Colbert is funny is like saying America didn't ruin Afghanistan for its internal politics
@@mja91352 Colbert is only funny to people who are incapable of viewing life through anything but a political lens. He does nothing groundbreaking, nothing to provoke thought. He stays safely in his uber liberal comfort zone and he's only funny to other uber liberal people. He's the antithesis of what comedy should be.
@@AlexB-xp4jy He used to be great when he was on the B team for John Stewart. He lost it somewhere along the way and became way too straight laced.

Because they are lol
Exactly. If you watch other late night shows, bills got the host and the audience laughing their balls off
I felt so bad for him to be in front those ppl
Bill Burr: **Says something hilarious**

Bill Burr: **Responds with something hilarious**
Colbert: *"Anywayyyy......"*
Bill Burr: **Follows up with a classic one-liner**
Colbert: *"Anywayyyy......"*
apart from this peice of shit wannabe comedian didnt say an amusing line in the interview
Cheese on Toast are you talking about Colbert? Then i agree 100%
What do you expect Colbert doesn't have a single funny bone in his body, he's basically a glorified political commentator, a frontliner SJW, and donated millions to the Catholic Church a year...
oh no i was talking about bill burr, bill bore more like.
Where was the classic one liner?
Immediately after his first joke got no reaction, you could see the wheels turning in his head as he thought "ah great, it's just as bad as I figured it would be"
I’ve heard Conan say that he’s talked to comedians who went on other late night shows and told him “I felt like the host wanted me to fail.” Great example here. Very rude to do as a “host.”
Source? Would love to watch that clip
@@gregh5061 It was on his podcast, and I can’t remember the episode. It might have been the one when he was talking with Andy Richter about Norm Macdonald right after he died.
coanan is the only guy who can dance with burr.
Conan's honest reactions to Bill's comedy make it even more enjoyable. Fallon's over the top, fake laughing and banging the desk make him unwatchable.
@Dion St. Michael Bill is a frequent guest on Conan. These comments are comparing that experience to this one with Colbert. Sorry you missed the context, no reason to call someone a moron. A more reasonable reaction is to simply ask about a statement you don't understand rather than lash out immediately like a low class animal.
@Dion St. Michael What Seanto said moron.

And jefferies!
Wow, this really shows how impressive Conan is!
@Toori Baba I'm not interested in politics, I don't support Trump either but any late night host like Conan who don't have to rely on unfunny Trump jokes and actually has his own funny material is good in my book, while on the other hand, when it's comes to late night hosts like Colbert who doesn't have any originality cause sheep audience will always find repetive Trump jokes funny for the thousand times, I won't be surprised if they secretly vote for him, just to have some relevancy for 4 more years.
@@everythingisawesome2903 Colbert has had great jokes, I just stopped following him coz he mostly does trump stuff now. Well idk if he still does I have watched him in a year, I'll have to check

#EpsteinsIsland
Colbert Report was funny because that character seemed closer to what Colbert is actually like. Sort of pompous. It would make me howl.
At 4:35, the look Burr gives Colbert is priceless. He's supposed to be talking to a "comedian" and at that exact moment, he realizes the man across from him is just going to sit there and let him drown and has no concept of anything he's talking about.
Colbert's response after that moment is so abrupt that I wonder if there was a cut. I recall some late night shows edit down long interviews... The whole vibe of this felt so weird it wouldn't surprise me if there were chunks taken out.
@GoldenPantaloons
I don't get the feeling that was edited, the bait for a joke Burr gave him was, "how _fat_ do they want to make people". And Colbert couldn't touch that.
Bill's ability to push a crowd away with his angry comedy and then bring em back in every time is unprecedented
faded 2 long he's a master at that. Most comedians, once they lose an audience, just flounder
Bill is amazing. I got to see him live with my wife a few months ago and I think I almost had an aneurysm from laughing so hard.
Never forget what happened in Philly.
Did you ever see the 12 min angry rant in Philly?

I think Stephen Colbert is low key the rage filled one and Bill Burr is doing fine.
Colbert acted like he was not liking everything Bill was saying.
More like “anything” he said
In the words of Bill Burr, 'F that guy!'
The crowd is way too uptight.
Nah this is just Colbert being a really shitty interviewer. Watch any interview with a guest he isn't a fan of and you'll see how uptight and stiff he is. No charisma at all.
Like the Oliver Stone one? Jesus, what a train wreck of an interview that one was.
Yes! Never seen a worse interview.
ya idk if Colby slippin or what. but his interviews r terrible sometimes. I think invests too much time on the political stuff and doesn't learn about his guests. and yes that assumption is based on nothing.
Very true. He should either go full political show, or full talk-show. Not this weird mix, it doesn't work.
What the hell was this? I guess Conan is the only host that understands Burr
Kimmel and Bill interviews are good too.
i love watching Conan both cringe, yet also instigate, Burr..nothing better than Burr on Conan
Yea that was painful. Colbert is super PC
My comment was also deleted by youtube or the colbert channel. "Colbert is way to Politically Correct, sucks he cant be free on "his" show he even tried hiding his smile..GO BILL!!!!
They're both Massholes
Conan knows how to set up Burr. Those interviews are the best!
Stephen is insufferable when he interviews comedians. His insecurity and competitiveness get the best of him.
👍🏻
He is quite a bad interviewer of Bill Burr and the crowd is bad too. But it's not because he is competitive or insecure. At no point did he attempt to steal the spotlight or compete with him. You're just using this to insinuate your irrelevant personal opinions about Colbert. It was actually exactly the opposite, he was very passive and didn't give Burr anything. It was mostly the crowd that didn't appreciate Burr- it is probably a very politically correct NY crowd and Burr is too anti-PC for them.
This host gave him nothing. Like telling jokes to a door.
If he's a door, he is not being very open. lol
@@kentuckyfriedchildren5385 nice one

How bad are Colbert's transitions.
his sex transition seems to be going great. once a male and now a complete bitch

Always enjoyed Colbert but watching this makes you realize how square he is when facing someone who is not afraid to be himself. I guess when u have the writers do all the work it’s intimidating facing the real talent.
Bill Burr: 'Lets just have a fun chill conversation'
Host: 'Just promote your s**t and get off the stage already'
+overclockeador
What has any of that to do with politics?
Bill Maher also gave Burr the bumrush when he wouldn't stick to Maher's script.
I’m really disappointed that Burr’s crowd has ended up being another one of those groups that tends to attract people who take joy in the downfall of others. I don’t think Burr himself would condone talking shit like that about Colbert.
Colbert is so scared of getting any backlash he ruins his own interviews.
nah, he just doesnt want to entertain the non stop whiny nature of this anti PC 'comedy'

I read an article today - not being aware that it's old - talking about that this interview was not appreciated by the audience. The first three comments here were cited. Anyway, so had to watch the show. I think Colbert handled the interview very good. He responded subtly to Barrs jokes. I found Bill Burr quite funny and Stephen reacting normal.
Burr: I just kept imagining beating the bottom of his feet to shame him
Colbert: So you moved here in '95?
That change in direction broke my brain. These guys are hilarious
Bill Burr is the easiest going guy out there but Colbert still managed to make it akward..

That was hard to watch, Stephen did a bad job at interviewing bill. He wasn't even trying. The Best show for Bill to do is Conan.
Rawkstar fellow Bostonians
Rogan tries to make most of his podcast at least 2-3 hours because most people, at least first time guests, don't really open up all the way and get fully comfortable in an that sort of environment til around the 2nd hour and beyond. His show isn't really an interview style either, he sits and listens without interrupting or changing serious topics until the conversation is fully fleshed out. You can't really get past the facade that most people put up and get at the "meat" of who a person really is and what they really want to communicate til you get a few hours into getting to know them. It's almost a befriending process really.
"Befriending process" is a great way to describe it.
Rawkstar same here lol. I could listen to them two bull shit about anything. But Colbert has become to obsessive over Trump I think, I haven't been able to watch him since basically before the election cause I was sick of the same old shit each show with bashing trump and what not (NOT IN ANY WAY saying I like trump lol just gets old, like all ten others on twatter constantly complaining about him).
I couldn't disagree more I mean yes conan and his crowd are better than Colbert but come on this was not "hard to watch" fuck the crowd I was still cracking up it was funny to hear bill call all them out
"So you don't like candy, I hear. This is what I'm getting from your conversation."
And back to Bill Burr clips on Conan it is.
If that was conan, he would have been cracking up😂
This was like watching a comedian tell jokes to a brick wall.
You could tell Bill Burr was trying to start a conversation or something but Colbert was acting so stiff.
Almost feel bad for Burr, he was trying so hard.
Colbert wasn't going to play along with Bill's jokes which, frankly, weren't that good and lacked engagement from his side. If you're going to kick downwards as a comedian you have to be confident about it and humble/self deprecating.
Maybe it's because he's been on Conan a lot, but Conan is one of the only people I've seen handle interviews with Bill properly. He actually laughs and brings out the humor and observations Bill is trying to show.
P.S. all of you go watch seasons 1&2 of F is for Family... it's amazing.
So it's not Bill's fault for doing a bad set, it's the interviewer's fault for not accommodating him? Ok, whatever.
@Pablo: have ever watched a late night show interview?
This is not a regular set, but a conversation (where the guest normally does most of the talking of course)
Watch Conan with Burr and you can see and hear the difference!
To be fair to Colbert he is just not very good at interviewing comedians imo
But in this case he left ol Billy Redface hanging on purpose!
Yes-Go 'kick downwards' - stop with this quasi Marxist privilege stack, I mean, if someone deserves to be joked about, if someone earned it, does it really matter which identity group this particular person represents? But I agree that Bill wasn't at his best and blaming Colbert for all of the lameness of this interview is unjust :P
Tbh Conan is the only real night late host that should be able to interview someone real like, Bill Burr.

He really, really did
timuelkoonce1 he's a shill what do you expect
timuelkoonce1 Colbert can’t handle it
Watch Conan, best talk show host. Especially with Bill Burr, he encourages him.
"Oh my god what is he saying, am I going to receive bad tweets tomorrow?"
Colbert has come a long way since the Colbert Report.
A long way down into the soulless chambers of corporate hell
what a weird vibe...
Right!?
I only clicked this for Bill Burr.
First Colbert clip I've watched... probably last.
True for many of us
That's a man of more culture than most cultured men I've ever seen. Says the right things, dresses sharp, unbuttons his coat before sitting down 😂
I had that problem when I was a teacher out west. I'm from Boston, and my students often thought I was angry and serious when I was just joking and being sarcastic.
she was dressed like John Goodman on Rosanne HAHAHAHA
wow crowd was wack
bills hilarious
The funniest part of a joke, to me, is when people don’t laugh, while you are. This interview was great. Politics suck 🤙🏼
F is for family is one da funniest shows I ever seen in my life real talk 🤣🤣 💯% da neighbor burnt all da way out 🤣
it's interviews like this one that make me miss Craig Ferguson and his ability to put anyone at ease while still asking compelling questions and creating a solid bond, even for just a few minutes, with whoever was in front of him. you are truly missed, pal.
n00n I miss Craig's late late show so much
*high five*
By the way, Craig Ferguson interviewed Burr on his radio show.
I know, like I was saying in the comment section over there: my only wish for this year came true. I'm done, have a good one, bless you all.
There's a podcast (recently, like June 8th or something) with Craig and Burr. It's great...
I feel like Stephen doesn't like Bill. Bill would tell a joke and Stephen would respond, with a straight face, "So, you've got a show, F Is For Family." He wouldn't even acknowledge his effort at a funny comment.
Yup, I got the same impression. A personal rivalry, maybe? It seemed more than just an off night for Colbert. Or perhaps Stephen just doesn't know anything about Bill and doesn't give a shit. If that's the case, though, I think as a talk show host he has a responsibility to at least try to hide that fact.
Juan J. Dueñas Colbert is too scared to say anything, that's what political correctness does to to him
Proof that two funny people don't always mix well together.
Bill Burr's thinking of running for Mayor...his slogan?
"Make Times Square Dirty Again"
Colbert sounded condescending and Burr was a good spirit throughout.
ya colbert is not allowed to have opinions outside of the audience that gives him his ratings
I think both of them were just having an off night here. Colbert was doing a decent job setting Bill up, I think, Bill just wasn't in the best mood. Maybe he was tired (I think these TV spots come in waves, so this probably wasn't his only one this week).
"So nothing out there makes you mad?" - Could there be a better setup for a comedian like Bill Burr to go into something? He just didn't really have energy. "I dunno, taking your socks off on airplanes?"
The dead audience and what I assume is atrocious editing also doesn't help:
"I just want to whack on the bottom of this guy's feet until he takes them down."
"You moved here in '95?" XD
Burr looks like Vincent van Gogh right before he cut off his ear.
Vincent-Lev Volya 😂😂
except for that being a myth
Conan is the only person who can interview this man. It’s pure gold every single time
I knew Colbert wouldn't get Bill. LOL 😆
