Can’t thank you guys enough for taking me to places I can no no longer access ♿️ #VicariousLiving . Love all the technical, scientific, historical info & the mythical stories too. Gives your location so much more relevance.
Welcome to Sandnessjøen which i live nearby ! Drive carefully, the coastroad is very narrow, next ferries for you is Levang/Nesna, Kilboghamn/Jektvik and Ågskardet/Forøy, then there is no ferries all the way to up to Saltstraumen and Bodø. Saltstraumen is the strongest maelstrom in the world, Bodø is a nice city in this part of the year! Seeing you, a young couple on such a drive/trip through some of the nicest parts of Europe and Norway is probably the most romantic things i can imagine, i wish you perfect luck forever !
Every video, I always think, this is the absolute best place, I have to go here someday! But would never be able to do all of the hiking you young people do 😅 Norway is so fabulous! 🙂Looking forward to the next one.
What a drive and I laughed out loud at ‘why are you talking like that, your not Gandalf’🤣🤣 your both so natural and doing a vlog every day must be so time consuming but it’s great to watch 👏🏻👏🏻
I’m lovin the daily vlogs. You guys are really becoming quite the professional tour guides and also it’s educational but not in a we know it all kinda a way. Really great job!
Lovely to see you cruise through the areas where my family comes from, and headed to my hometown of Bodø. Feel free to reach out if you want any tips on what to do there, though I am sure you've already read about Saltstraumen, Kjerringøy and the quick hike up Keiservarden (on the sherpa steps) :)
I am always very envious when I watch your videos! The scenery looks stunning and you guys are living the dream, fair play to be both for taking the chance and going for it! 😎👍🍀
Hello from Ireland, we love how you keep referring back to your trip around Ireland.. we love tea here too. You have sold Norway to us.. I’m definitely going! Thank you for the daily blogs.. 💛
May 4 2023: Enjoying your videos so very much. So, interesting how overseas, I live in Maryland, there are so many spots that you have shared through your travels that use the honor system in donating and using what is there. The hole in that mountain is huge. I agree how does something stand the test of time. Glad it does for so many to enjoy. I am now exploring areas to do day walks. I bought a walking stick to assist. Although 69 years of age and I am very active with teen grandchildren and their living with us. Isabele you are always prepared in your videos as you do the walks, hikes to have food! Cheers on many more journey’s. Your format is the best and I cannot get enough.
Love seeing all the beautiful places that you visit, and Norway is on my bucket list, so thank you for a little "online travels" with you guys. Great editing btw. Enjoy Barry's 😉 greetings from Ireland ☘
Don't come to Norway. Go to Sweden, Denmark or Finland. There is endless forest and no wies or mountains at all. Norway is not for bored and lazy people. If you care to sit in a camper van and look at fake Sámi People and a immaginary Santa. Then Finland must be the obvious choice. Not Norway were everything is authentich. We are not living in a immaginary country. Think about that, before you come here.
I'm pretty sure thats not quaking aspen. I hate being that "yeah but" commenter, buuut, I grew up at elevation in colorado and those leaves you showed aren't quaking aspen. The serrations are practically lobes. Quaking aspen have very fine serration like a japanese handsaw. What you showed is maybe big tooth aspen? I dunno, just a guess, I don't know a lot about european trees. We have more common poplars at lower elevation (like 6k feet) and they make a ton of noise too. I can hear my neighbors poplar from 2 houses down. Anyway, I'm not an expert, but I majored in dendrology for a couple of years before I figured out it wasn't for me.
As far as I’m aware we only have a single species of aspen in Europe sometimes called european aspen, aspen trembling aspen or quaking aspen. This gets confusing when the americas have more nuanced names, that’s why it’s usually better to rely on the Latin, this is Populus tremula (larger lobes) I think the saw tooth one you are talking about is Populus tremuloides
@@LostInTransit yes you're right. I should spend more time being a better listener and less time being a better beer drinker. Anyway, I enjoy the show. I've seen most of ur vids. 😁
We have a native Irish Aspen in our garden, it makes the most beautiful sound! It's by fair my favorite tree in the garden, turns a fabulous colour in autumn too!
Lovely scenery as per usual. Did a quick search for a stave church which you mentioned yesterday. very impressive. Are they only in the south of Norway? Don't think I have had Barry's Tea before but you can't beat Nambarrie, Yorkshire Tea or Lapsang Souchong Tea.
A total of 2,000 stave churches have probably been built in Norway, if not more. Around 1350, there were probably just under 1,000 stave churches in the country. Today there are only 28 stave churches left. Most are located in the inner part of Eastern Norway and in the inner fjord areas of Western Norway.
We don’t have much choice in our wardrobe, hahaha. We wear all our clothes a lot. Our wardrobe does change fairly often as we like to shop in and donate to charity shops
Also, freakishly, a few decades ago, a family had seven sisters with the middle ones being twins like the mountains! What are the odds of that? Tjøtta, coincidentally, is famous for a Viking (Hårek fra Tjøtta)who fought in the battle of Stiklestad leading the army which killed Olav the Holy.
Feel like you guys have your mojo back! Love watching your videos xx Ps Barry's tea isn't posh you must have been in an expensive shop! It is good tea though.
Yeah! Go Barry's tea! Isobel, can you tell me where you got that blue roll neck jumper that you have on going through the hole in the mountain? Thanks for the upload :)
Looks absolutely incredible, great drone shots, for a split second I thought you were gonna fly it through that giant hole in the mountain rock ahha. So impressed with the dailies!! Takes some serious stamina to keep them up, we were knackered by the end of our two months, but then you weirdly miss them haha.
Wow, I didn’t realise you did two months!!! 😳 It is tough going, There are actually lots of bits I prefer to weekly vlogs, we might do like 2-3 vlogs a week after this challenge, not sure yet, but would be nice to have a day off every now and then. I tried to fly through the hole but it lost gps and suddenly decided to fly to the right very fast of its own accord, so decided it wasn’t worth it
That spectacular cave-tunnel was formed by the sea, but is now a 100m or so above the sea level - that's because at the end of the ice age when the snow cap melted and the weight of all those km thickness of ice was gone, so the surface of the earth started to boing back up above sea level (geological term, boing!) and is still boinging to this day! By the way Izzy, I brought a box of lovely Barry Tea back from Ireland too. Half way through it already! 🫖😋
Hi Iz Tom,I have been watching all of the quick blogs it it’s been wonderful to see you both in different places most enjoyable, like the story about the seven sisters mountains I wonder how true this is mmm 😋 what a beautiful country Norway 🇳🇴 is thank you for showing all the lovely places, till next time take care keep yourself safe,John 🤗🤩👀🌹😆😋🇳🇴😜👏🤝👍🥰🥰
Hey folks, another great video of lovely Norway! Sorry to ask a mundane question, but what do you about clothes washing? I don't recall you saying anything about this.
I've seen the hatchet by the door a couple of times but only just realised what it means. You're being held captive by a crazy woman! Thought it might be the other way around at first but we've all heard about Amber and Johnny so if you need rescue tell us about arctic botany in your sober Cap'n Jack voice while asking where the rum is. We'll get the message. In the meantime, stay strong...
For your next trip to this beautiful area, you might consider visiting Træna. They have a similar cave on an island, although it doesn't punch a hole through the mountain. There is an annual music festival at Træna, which I'm told is the most amazing event you could attend. I haven't been myself.
Wow! My parents are from this region and you hit upon all the major points here. Torghatten (and the legends of Helgeland, if I may add) the incredible beaches, shallow waters. In places you can swim for ages in normal pool depth water and then finally the Aspen. In my mother's childhood she grew so accustomed to this tree that she had to bring some to her new home to hear that familiar sound.
Again, thanks a lot taking us with you. I am sure you read about the myth of the hole in the Torghatten. You will get the real caribean feeling at Ramberg and Haukeland Beach. Enjoy your roadtrip of lifetime which it is definetely. Follow the tourist signs on the lofoten and you will not be disappointed. On Senja you will find the golden toilett for sure. On the Vesteralen you have to goo and visit Myre and on the way to Stö you will pass the village "Klo" which is the abbreviation for saying toilett in german language. Be always prepared to get stuck on the road by lazy sheeps lay down on the heated asphalt. If you havent seen an elk yet just look for them very early morning right after sunrise when the come out of the woods crossing the grasland and going to nearby flat shores to eat seawheat cos these provide a lot of salt to them. This can happen also in late evenings. Be aware in early morning driving, those elks are massive and can appear suddenly in front of you. Also take care when they are focused running back into the woods, they even dont take care of cars.
I didn't think it was possible to better the scenery from your previous days in Norway but this one has it all. The drone shots are spectacular, as are the beaches. Incredible 👍
Hi, soooo absolutely beautiful country, a great day, thanks for it all. Love your sense of adventure and curiosity of everything about you. Lovin' it xx
second largest mabi? new data shows the largest living organism may actually be a parasitic honey fungus called armillaria solidipes found in a national forest in Oregon spanning 2,200 acre's estimated to be 2400 years old!
I think the aspen still takes the title if you do it by weight. Apparently there is a sea grass forest in Australia I hadn’t heard about as well. Love these organisms that stretch the idea of individual like this, very cool

So fun fact Tom and everyone else. Recently they've actually found a new largest living organism (area based aspen still rules in mass) in Australia! Posidonia australis a type of seagrass that covers around 200 square kilometres. And before that technically a fungi held the title, though now Posidonia australis has taken both the title of largest living plant and organism.

On May 6th 1988, during approach to the airport, Widerøe Flight 710 crashed into the Torghatten Mountain. All the 36 people onboard was killed.

People can be divided between 'Barry's' and 'Lyons' tea. I always buy Lyons red label ... probably just because my Nanna did 🙈
