THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE IN IRELAND?(The Wild Atlantic Way || Dingle)

- Our time here in Dingle was so jam packed we had to split one week's worth of footage over two vlogs. You join us where we left off last weeks vlog and we continue to explore this amazing peninsula.
With our two week stay at Harriet's Cottage, a beautiful home in Dingle town, coming to an end, we realise we have been neglecting some of our van chores, and so with a desire to prevent history repeating we head off in search of gas. We find a merchants (MacEoin's General Merchants Ltd.) who sort us out with two fresh tanks of gas, enough to keep us going for some time. With the gas sorted we head off to explore more of the Dingle Peninsula. We head to the north side where we find Fermoyle Strand a long expanse of sand where surfers ride waves beside the mountains. Isabel decides to gather the drift wood in hopes of a fire, but we decide it is too early and head off. We drive the length of the bay and stop at the far end, Stradbally beach, the surf is much messier here and we are the only people here on the shore. Tom relaxes, listening to the sound of the waves, while Isabel gets back to her wrecking. The beach is cleared of anything that might burn and the flotsam is piled into the back of the van. Deciding to turn our day of adventuring into a loop back to Dingle town we head in the direction of Glanteenassig Forest Park. Nestled in among the peaks that span the central spine of this little spit of land we find a forested lough. We spend the afternoon wandering around the waters on a board walk that encloses it. We stop for coffee that we brew on our new camping stove that we bought from the gas merchant and head back to the van. Our next destination Inch beach, a strand that forms a smaller peninsula off of the dingle peninsular. We watch the distant mountains that make up the ring of Kerry over the water as the light fades. Isabel's foraged wood stores make another appearance and we light a small fire on the beach.
The next day following 3 jam packed days of adventuring (Last weeks vlog was the two days preceding this vlog) we decide to slow down. Tom edits a vlog for you to enjoy and we make the van hospitable again ready for our return. That evening we meet up with Steph, Geoffrey & Sophia ( / navigatingneena . With covid meaning our visit to Dick Macks is cut short we head back to their van to enjoy some cans and conversation.
The next day we wake, slightly groggy but with a can do attitude. In convoy with our new friends we head to Minard Castle, a ruin on the side of a pebble beach (pebble's the size of a small car). We then turn to the hills and make for Annascaul lake where Isabel braves the cold and has a go at paddle-boarding in one of the most scenic of locations. After this we all pile back in the cars and make back to our BnB, where we get a chance to play host for our final night in the house.
Then next morning on returning to the van we decide there is one thing in Dingle we really want to do before leaving. Climb Mt Brandon, the tallest mountain on the peninsula and the second tallest in Ireland. We drive to Faha carpark to begin the hike, this route is longer but more beautiful. We walk through valleys and up steep rocky slopes until we reach the top of the mountain in glorious sunshine (although also a lot of wind). Having reached the top we enjoy the views before turning back down. Having accomplished our final goal for Dingle, with heavy hearts, we say good bye. We drive off to Kilarney National Park, where we realise we left our forks in the BnB.

I've been to dingle 3 times and didn't even know that lake existed. The stuff you learn.
These Ireland series videos are simply wonderful. Great cinematography with the drone and a very likeable 'cast' also 😀keep up the good work 👍
The cast is okay, thinking of holding some auditions for a new female lead, haha. Glad you are enjoying them
I watch the Ireland videos over and over again, thank you Tom and Izzy
Drone shots of Inch are world class!Wow!
It is no surprise to us that your channel continues to grow at such a rate as you guys really manage to capture and share your love for being outdoors and living on the road. You've made us fall in love with Ireland through this series and don't want it to end 🥰 keep up the good work team and we look forward to some beach fires back in Cornwall later on this year (loved your firewood collection determination Iz!!) xx
Oh no dont tell Iz about our beach fires back home, she will start collecting now and fill the van, hahaha. We will let you know when we are heading back, will probably be in spring, will be so fun to meet up.
We really cant recommend Ireland enough, you guys would love it, although the bus may struggle in some of the lanes! We seem to keep slowing down so there is no fear of the series ending just yet, haha.
Thanks so much for your kind words guys and thanks for watching
Great advertisement for Ireland lovely scenery 👌 and your lovely people too
heya - aw thank you so much for the lovely compliment! The people here really do make it we have just been so taken aback by the wonderful irish hospitality!
As a Scotsman I find that ALL of Ireland is amazingly beautiful...
I feel the same!! i mean we havent been inland much but the whole west coast is beeeauitufl!
@@LostInTransit we didn't venture inland either but going round the coast, WOW... The houses are amazing
As an Irishman I find that Scotland is amazingly beautiful!!

Im a 51 year old Irishman and have to admit to not knowing whats on my back door. You guys have done more for Irish tourism in your videos than our own Tourist board has in the last 10 years. Keep up the amazing content....... subscribed!!
Hi Paul - Ha that's amazing thank you so much - what a compliment! We really appreciate the lovely kind feedback woo!
that's hilarious Paul you must be living under a rock . I've seen these places advertised over and over again
@@AlainnCorcaigh I'm just trying to emphasise the good Job they do to promote Ireland to the masses, I'm well travelled in Ireland, not much of a mountain climber though. Oh and I dont live under a rock. Take care...
@@AlainnCorcaigh that's like everywhere in world, people that live in a country mostly know 10 miles around there house pretty well, but otherwise only the most famous spots.
I'm always surprised about my area again and again,
Tom, having a headache in the morning after being in an Irish pub is called a hangover. 😜
no it was unrelated im sure 😉 hahaha
I really enjoy your series, don't ever change and keep the smiles comin as you have so much fun..Terrific stuff!!!!!
Hello that really is lovely to hear thank you for sharing your positivity!!! you have a great weekend!!
Took a boat trip on Dingle bay a few years ago. The skipper let my son steer the boat. A party of US tourists were all sitting on one side, and we were on the other side. Fungi surfaced twice beside us. A wonderfull trip always remembered.
Each time I watch one of your Vlogs I find myself with a smile on my face for the duration and this week's episode is no different... Best 17 minutes viewing all weekend. Really glad you decided to stay and explore the area a little more. Delighted you got a clear day for your stroll up Mt. Brandon. Once again, fantastic video and aerial shots.. Take good care Tom and Isabel. Safe travelling to you both....👏👏😊☘🚐
JJ you have the same effect on us when we scroll down into the comments section and find your kind words 😊😊 we find ourselves grinning from ear to ear. Thank you so much for watching, it really makes us feel like the vlogs are worth keeping up when we get messages like this.
These Ireland vlogs are just exceptional. Getting me so excited for my trip home in a few weeks. So glad you are loving your time in Ireland.
Thank you so much!! Aww I hope you have a lovely time coming home here in a few weeks. Thank you so much for watching and we really appreciate the positive encouragement !
Hi Tom/Isabel - Am loving your videos on my favourite rock on the planet, my home, Oireland!! We are truly blessed and as much as we give out... we shouldn't!! hehe!! I hope you get to spend time in Waterford, Wexford & Wicklow.... Some truly stunning sites to see and experience, especially Wicklow (The Garden County).. Anyhoo, May the road rise to meet ye, as ye go - Slán!!
Hey Kiarse! Aw so pleased you are enjoying the videos - that's fantastic to hear ! we should be heading to Wexford to catch a ferry to wales at some point ( not any time soon) so hopefully will get a chance to explore then :) Thank you for your lovely positive kind words!
Amazingly good video, looks like the magic of Co Kerry grabbed you both for real!
You both have inspired me to travel to Ireland! It so beautiful. :-)
Yay, mission accomplished! we cant recommend it enough.
Lovely again guys! Getting better and better. Cork is awesome too. Can send tip if needed!
Hey Paul! Thank you so much!! Woohoo! Yes please do send your reccies for Cork and we'll note them on our map. Thanks for watching :)
Fantastic episode guys.. I had a nice smile @ 3:12 sec when Tom waved at the oncoming blue van.. perfect and effortless finger lifting technique and you'd swear you were a local..! Thanks guys and look forward to the next episode!
I think growing up in Cornwall is the closet you can get to being Irish without being Irish. We have immediately felt at home! Just need to save up for a smallholding now!
@@LostInTransit Lovely.. you are true Celts
I enjoyed this too.
Was driving round a remote area today thinking how enjoyable the acknowledgment of acknowledgment moment between courteous motorists is!
@@yoshihorror1948 You should see me if i don't get a wave back, its all I talk to Isabel about for the next 20 mins, haha
I was thinking the same thing myself when I saw that effortless finger wave that’s when you know Ireland has crept in on you everybody waves no matter what especially in the country. Well done on a vantastic vlog guys.
Another great video. You guys deserve some sponsorship from the Irish Tourist Board! I been going to Dingle for about 30 years and still love it. I never bothered chasing up seeing Fungie on a tour boat all those years as it seemed so commercialised, but with lockdown and no foreign travels I went to Dingle for a few days from Belfast in September 2020 and found myself out on land where the bay narrows before entering the sea, which as it turned out is where Fungie hung out...so at last, and with no commercial aspect, I finally saw him from the shore just 20 or 30 feet away, breaching a couple of times...and the experience was surprisingly moving. 3 weeks later he sadly vanished, and nobody has seen him since, after 37 years of him being in Dingle harbour. Like so many others worldwide who enjoyed the experience of seeing such a graceful and gregarious wild dolphin, I now feel the loss with everyone else. Enjoy the rest of your Ireland trip!
Heya! Oh wow loved hearing about your experience seeing Fungie - thats really special that you did get to see him without a boat tour. But so sad that he's gone missing now :( Thank you so much for your kind words about our videos woo! So pleased to hear you're enjoying them!
Thank you so much for showing off our country at its best. I've been going to Kerry for 40 years and you've done it justice as you did for the whole run down the wild atlantic way . I love your blog and so glad that you're giving your generation a snap shot of the fu to be had here....even in the depth of winter.......and Covid. Ireland can sometimes be seen as a destination for the more mature traveller. When on the Ring of Kerry check out The Kerry Way. It takes you off the beaten track and onto the old tracks bohemians thro the mountains. Also take in The Kerry Cliffs. A new destination on the way to the beautiful Valencia island. Better than the Cliffs of Moher in my view and quieter. Keep up the good work.
John OMahony. Dublin but missing The West.
Hey John :) Wow thank you so much for this lovely comment - what a pleasure to read! Thanks for the tip about the Kerry Way! Unfortunately the Kerry cliffs were completely closed when we passed them - I think because of the time of year. Thank you so much for your positive support!
loving my Sunday evenings watching you on your adventures. you are both inspiring. sending you love from Anglesey
Thanks guys, glad you are enjoying them. Sending lots of love from a tiny beach some where on the ring of Kerry
I love how you are not deterred by it being January and get out and about.
I mean, we were expecting far worse weather! We were actually pretty concerned we were making a mistake doing the WAW in winter until we got here and we have loved every second
Our beautiful country. Looking forward to where ye are going next. The back of Torc waterfall 8s amazing to walk up, ask locally for the directions for it, there are sleepers to walk on going up, and the view is so beautiful from the top. Muckross house grounds are beautiful to walk in too. Delighted ye are enjoying the hidden treasures.
Hi Lorraine - thank you for the tips! unfortunately we didnt hike up the back of Torc waterfall - thanks so much for your recommendations though :)

Thanks Colin, glad you are enjoying the videos. We keep getting people tell us we will love beara, it's making us so excited to get there. I think we are going to leave lots of time for it

HAHAHA, amazing! this made us both laugh out loud. If i had it my way everyones bucket list would arrive with Ireland already pre-printed on it. I hope you enjoy your beans.

Very well done for straying from the well travelled paths to enjoy the joys of real Ireland! 👍😊❤
We like to travel pretty slowly for this very reason, many of the best spots are the ones that are not on the "must see list". We often get talking to locals and always try to get their tips on where to visit.
Deprived of her normal fix of visiting charity shops, in this episode Isabel has turned her energy into scouring the whole coast for firewood.... Hey, another great and amusing episode.... Thanks 🚐🌞

Thanks Tom and Isabel for another fantastic video. Beautiful scenery, and great drone footage. I hope your journey continues to be so picturesque and entertaining. Looking forward to the next one. P. S. Don't be pinching any forks from the pubs !!! 😘
Hi Peter - thank YOU so much for watching! ha i have no doubt this journey will continue to be beautiful! Ha we actually bought a pack of 4 forks today from centra lol.. and ate noodles to celebrate! don't worry no fork pinching :D
Okay, ye definitely took the more awkward route to the summit of Brandon but that's what adventures are all about I suppose.
Killarney is lovely but very touristy. Torc Mountain has a (mostly) boardwalk path to the summit and the views of the Killarney lakes up there are lovely. Kenmare is fantastic if you are going through there as ye move down towards Cork. I'd recommend passing through Glengarriff on your way. West Cork is an absolute gem.
yeah the other way looked far more straight forward, but im so glad we took this route. We have just been around Kilarney and i couldnt put my finger on what didnt feel as nice, but i think it was just a bit touristy as you say.
Really looking forward to west cork and the south west, Ireland just keeps giving

Campervan cooking tips.
Chop the spaghetti up into short strands before you cook it. If you soak it in cold water for 20 minutes before, it goes soft enough to finish cooking in one pot with the sauce. Less washing up.
Fried gnocchi are awesome. Especially with beans, eggs, and cheese on top. Lidl gnocchi very good, really cheap for a big pack.

Thanks for the tips, I wonder if it would be possible to get to Sherkin in winter....
Ooo i do love a Cornish connection, i will look into it. I saw there is a Cornish village from the old mine works in Beare Peninsula i want to check out
Ooo i just googled it and apparently even the Baltimore lighthouse is made out of Cornish granite!
Your videos are wonderful. You go off the beaten track and really explore the area you travel through and that makes all the difference. The gold in travelling, is found always and quite literally, when going the extra mile. I have lived in Kerry for 15 years and only discovered Glanteenassig a month ago when scouting locations for a forthcoming Sci Fi film. You found the place after a few days on the peninsula. One small suggestion: before your hikes and explorations it would be a good idea to ask locals about the history and legends of the place where you are planning to hike. This would greatly add to the commentary as you explore. All in all though, really great videos. Well done!
Hi John! Aw thank you for the lovely feedback! so pleased you agree with our ethos to get off the beaten track and explore. Knowing about Glenteenassig woods was down to bumping into the lovely local couple who gave us so many useful tips! Thanks so much for watching! Happy exploring !
Great videos, really enjoying your adventures. If you’ve not got there yet, Beara Peninsula is stunning, and try calling to Helens Bar at Kilmakilloge Harbour for a great crab sandwich, and do say hello to Helen. Also, don’t miss the boat trip to Garnish Island from The Blue Pool in Glengariff. Happy hunting!
Hey Seamus! Thank you so pleased to hear you're enjoying our videos. We are excited for Beara Peninsula. Ok thank you for the reccie for Helen's bar :) Ooh i wonder if the boat trip to Garnish Island will be running in winter.

You will have to come back and live in dingle and open a youth hostel . You would both be ideal hosts 👍👍👍
Or a hiking hostel 👍 where u could have people stay , hike , you do tours etc
Hey there Mary! Tom got his hat from the lovely family we got to stay with over new years eve! I think its hand made so unfortunately can't recommend where to get one! Ha that would be so cool to run a youth hostel ! can u imagine! Thanks so much for the support :)
