- Enjoy the best sourdough french toast made with simple ingredients in your very own home. This luxury breakfast is simple, fast and easy to make, and will quickly become one of your go to breakfasts in no time. I’ve been making some version of this homemade french toast recipe for over 25 years. But when I started making my own sourdough bread about 15 years ago, that’s when I discovered how amazing french toast is when made with sourdough! Sourdough bread makes the best french toast because it holds up really well when soaked in the egg and milk mixture. It has a rich tangy flavor and browns so beautifully especially when made in a cast iron pan, and is delicious with homemade butter and buttermilk syrup, eggs and fresh fruit. This easy breakfast is quick enough for weekday mornings, but is also great for weekend breakfasts or a more special occasion like a holiday brunch.

Great recipe! Thank you for sharing. Can you share a link to your basket with the eggs Ive been looking for a bigger basket for my fresh eggs. Thx in advance
You’re welcome. A friend of mine gave that to me many years ago, so unfortunately, I don’t know where to get the exact one, but it’s very similar to this one. Maybe just a little bit bigger. amzn.to/3Lap5p2
Have you ever made Portuguese Sweet Bread (Massa Sovada) by Tara Pacheco. It is easy to make and delicious as French toast when sliced thick and dredged through the eggs and cream as you did your sourdough bread. You've inspired me to use my cast iron more often. Making your discard tortillas for tomorrow's chorizo and eggs looks and tastes amazing. Hoping that my starter is active enough for your sourdough recipe tomorrow. If this works you will be my best new youtube friend.
Hi there, thanks for following along! I have never made Portuguese sweet bread like you’re describing, but now I’m gonna have to try it because it sounds amazing. Let me know how the discard tortillas worked out, I’m anxious to hear. And if you have any questions on anything please don’t hesitate to contact me. Have a great weekend!
I always wondered if people get a bad egg 🥚, when they just break them into one bowl without putting one at a time into a smaller bowl to check 🤔😁☝️❤️😊
@@silvermoon3486 sometimes that can happen and it’s really a bummer. If I have older eggs, then I usually crack them one at a time into a bowl, but if they are fresher, then I usually risk it by just putting them straight in because I’m always in a hurry lol
I can’t eat sugar, I think honey would be better for the syrup & add less of it. But I don’t know how that would work in the cream or buttermilk
It would work just fine. I like honey as well, but sometimes it can have a little different taste than sugar. It would also be really good with maple syrup as the sweetener.
Yum! Will be trying it all. The syrup sounds delicious!
@@amybrown9360 it is so good!!
That looks delicious!
Thank you!
Um, YUM!!!
