Love this show. The writing was so good. I love how patient and understanding Don was throughout all of the crazy things that happened to Ann. They were the perfect couple!
Ann complains that she lost the ring Donald gave her when he asked her to marry her, but the ring he actually gave her was his friend's ring, who then asked for it back and Donald replaced it with another just like it, which he gave to her later. The ring she lost is the second ring.
Binge-watching something you haven't seen since childhood... is a whole different experience. I never realized as a child how annoying they made Ann. She's supposed to be this feminist icon or something, and she's actually portrayed as being completely ditzy and whiney and unreasonable and annoying.
Right?Annoying and obnoxious. The feminist icon who was an independent working gal that although was always in-between jobs ( Ann was an awful actress), was able to pay her rent / bills and afford an incredible wardrobe.
Yes. I agree wholeheartedly. Realistically speaking how can a young woman rent an apartment in New York when she works occasional off jobs with a small acting gig every now and then? Plus she dresses to kill How unrealistic!
I was afraid to comment myself because then people would think I was being annoying .😊. Binge watching , and these last two seasons I need to actually skip episodes, because I find her incredibly “ annoying” and immature. I just want her to “shut up”. And grow up😂

This is not a criticism, I love this show. Ann (Marlo Thomas) looks so different in season 5 and I've never been able to figure out which details changed to make her face look so very different (to me, anyway). Was makeup different? Of course it's a different hairstyle, but I don't feel like that can make someone's actual face look different. I've been baffled by this question for decades -- haha.
Her makeup was upgraded along with her wardrobe. Her clothes and style throughout the five seasons were fabulous. Her hairstyle changed along with upgraded background music along with that fabulous theme song. It was given a new jazzy groovy uptempo sound along with amazing lyrics. Unfortunately, all these changes couldn’t save this landmark show. That Girl was magic and will long be remembered as a classy show thanks to the writers, Marlo, Ted and the clever casting of characters in their lives.
I do weird stuff to pick, tease my wife pretty much everyday. I get away with it because I told her years ago, the night we met, that I pick/tease all the time. 35 years, she’s still here.

I agree Anne was so ditzy, I think ADHD by todays standard. Yes she was supposed to be some feminist, but she is engaged, wont have sex with boyfriend. She is the ultimate conservative girl. She should have kept her bangs and those 70s clothing were not so good. All those psychedelic colors or multiple brown colors that did not look good on her were all in the 5 th season. I had lots of friends in my nursing career who had their own apartments and lived on their own in NYC, it want a big deal.
She is the best l love her so beautiful funny full of life great show
