This was one of the first TV comedies tp play on TV when I was a child - and it was in a country in central Africa (then Northern Rhodesia - now Zambia). Extremely popular - even though none of us appreicated the subtle social ironies inherent in the script. Now, 55 years later, watching this brings back memories of an idyllic childhood in the heart of Africa, and a new appreciation of how clever this series was (and is). Great comedy never fades and has universal appeal..

Matt, I was a 1960s kid also. Loved the shows you mentioned along with The Wonder World of Disney, Gunsmoke, Dragnet, Adam 12, Leave to Beaver, Bonanza, Sonny And Cher, Carol Burnett, and it seemed like there were a 1,000 more great family shows in the 60's and early 70's.

When I was a kid, I saw Mr. Ebsen at a 31 flavors with my folks. My dad told me that Mr. Ebsen deserved to eat his ice cream in peace and for me to leave him alone.
