Washington DC used to send their peeps to Lorton Prison in Northern VA which was famous for having 3 generations of family members in it at the same time. I got a tour of it after it closed, it was pretty intense. Lorton was a bunch of prisons spread all around the Lorton area of Fairfax County.

DC has always been heavy in the feds...especially for a city of our size. As to the weed, we can carry up to 2 ounces, and we can grow up to 6 plants.
What about capitol police? Technically everything within the boundary stones is a federal district a lot of people think it's a state (states rights) but it's just a city gov under a federal gov occupying basically the same space and weed is still illegal federally there's a lot of ways the federal govt screws the city

Everywhere federal charges u go to the feds it's just DC don't got no state jail so anything over a year u go to the feds your I'd number just gone be diff than the federal inmates if u don't get a fed bid but I gon be housed with them
@@tydeprince719 I know, that's what's wild to me is the lack of state prison being available. It makes sense now thinking more about D.C. but I'm still just used to felons going to state prison unless charged by the feds. It seems like some bullshit, what I'm hearing is that a charge that would normally send you maybe 1-2 hours away, in DC you could go to fkn Texas or Colorado over! That seems pretty fucked up...
@Zanda Williams From my understanding (I'm not an expert and don't live in DC), all of DC falls under federal territory. Because of that, people with felony charges facing prison time in DC are charged by the feds instead of the norm in a state where people get state time unless they were arrested by a federal agency like DEA, ATF, FBI, etc.
Barry Farms, and Sersum Quarters is now gentrification.Edgewood and Saratoga is next.

Until 2001 before D.C cats was going to Lorton prison which was notorious
The dc system is not really federal bcuz u have D.C. Superior Court (regular charges) & u have District Court (federal charges) however once u get sentenced in either one u will be federally housed

Got a DUI on 295 not far from DC and I was caught up in the federal system. Violated probation weeks away from finishing. They gave me 30 days in a building across the street from Central Booking in Baltimore that houses federal inmates.
To answer the marijuana question: In the 70’s DC was granted home rule status. Before the 70’s, DC was strictly controlled by the federal government. Residents didn’t have a school board, a mayor, a city council, and they weren’t even allowed to vote for the president. Once the city was granted home rule status, we were allowed al of those things. With those things the city was allowed to make their own decisions with a budget ruled by Congress. So marijuana is legalized in DC because of Home Rule but, Congress can override that decision immediately.

That is beyond messed up! How can you legalize the weed, then have half of the cops not care and the other half not recognize your medical green card and lock you up? It’s like they’re just setting them up to go visit the big house regardless 🤷♀️

Weed is not legal federally. So, federal police will take you to jail. Only state police and county police you are safe from.
I understand that weed is not federally legal in America, I just think that there needs to be a common ground. If you can get a medical green card in DC, it should be recognized by ALL in that city! When it was legalized up here in Canada, your card states what you’re legally allowed to carry across Canada. I don’t even smoke but absolutely believe that there’s huge benefits to those suffering from PTSD, Cancer, depression, etc. and if you are legally prescribed and legally buying it, there’s should definitely not be such a discrepancy in one state 🤷♀️

theres no state or county, the city is within the federal district, they occupy the same space. it would be like if your city and your state occupied the same space. thats why its referred to as a city-state. its really a setup for real if you understand jurisdiction

Attorney here. To answer your question, all weed is still illegal at the federal level, even though individual states (and DC) have decriminalized and/or legalized various forms and amounts. Federal law trumps state and local law per the Supremacy Clause of the Constitution, meaning a state that legalizes weed is actually doing so in violation of the law. Local police won't arrest you but you can still get in trouble with the feds.
No Feds are messing with street level weed unless you're a borderline RICO click. Feds aren't messing with PWID etc in DC or anywhere else.

If your charge low-key if it's less than a year you may stay most of the time at 1901 D street but since lorton prison in Northern Virginia closed down you go straight to the feds.

Forgot to say that up until 2001 DC felons went to Lorton Prison on Lorton Virginia which is in Fairfax County. When Lorton closed DC felons went to Federal prison. Lorton was crazy.
Yes it was, my dad worked there from 1985 to 2001 and 2001 to 2018 at D.C. Jail he retired recently
@@chrismc410 Hopefully Josh is reading this. Federal prison started in 2001 because of money issues between Fairfax and DC. There were two Prisons. One off Lorton Rd which are now condos and one on Ox road which is a museum and art gallery. I toured the museum and actually got into a cell block and let me tell you that they are small and cramped cell blocks. I'm talking maybe 8 by 10 for 2 men.

I was locked up in DC and it was insane. I was the only white dude on the block with all brothers and it was nothing but love. I've been to other jails with all whites and it was more ruckus and stupid then in d.c. I remember them playing the slow jams on the loud speaker during night time count haha

He said he has been on parole since 2004. When he gets caught up he does some time and then released on parole again. Death read where they been letting violent offenders and even sex offenders out so it's not that surprising they let him out.
It's the same thing here in New Orleans they don't really have gangs they go by the neighborhoods or the wards!

the place is hell on earth. I was in SE1. triple shacked. 24 hour lockdown. saw a dude in intake medical so heated you could see vapors coming off him like a gas tank on a summer day. one cat stole a female guard in the grill and broke her jaw...looked at me and said "u like that?" only thing kept me alive was common knowledge of street cats in the go-go music scene and the hood my Family is from. walk in the front door people laying on top of people. I'm white just for reference.
